  • Solaris installation - ORA-27302

    Hi,
I was trying to install the Oracle Collaboration Suite on a Solaris box. During the Information storage, I got the following error in the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant:
    ORA-27302: failure occured at: skgpwreset1
ORA-27303: additional information: invalid shared ctx
    ORA-27146: post/wait initialization failed
ORA-27300: OS system dependent operation: semget failed with status: 28
ORA-27301: OS Failure message: No space left on device.
    ORA-27302: failure occured at: sskgpsemsper.
The disk for Oracle is total 27 GB and still have 14 GB free space.
I have inserted the sample setting stated in the Table 2-19 to /etc/system and installed the patch clusters.
Anyone has any clue about this problem?

Most probably you have run out of 'inodes' - check the documentation for the kernel parameter settings like max open files, ulimit etc etc
    hope this helps
    Gavin This helps! Thanks Gavin!

    Hello all,
Looking for some guidance with a 10.2.0.1 database on Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition server. I have an SR open with Oracle, but getting the usual run-around and no conclusive explanations.
A couple of weeks ago, the database started throwing the following in the alert log:

The database remains functional while this is happening, but we are no longer able to establish new sessions to the database. The only remedy so far, as is the case with most Windows issues, is to reboot the server. The support analyst has recommended that we add the "/3gb" switch to the boot.ini as he feels we are hitting the 2GB limitation for a single process. My concern is that in looking at the trace file, it would appear that there's only around 1.6GB of memory consumed in total on the server (8190M - 6548M = 1642M), so there should be no single process that's coming even close to the 2GB limitation. I've been watching the oracle.exe process for the last week, and it always hovers around 700M. The total SGA size is about 600M.
Interestingly enough, we're in the process of downgrading the database from Enterprise Edition to Standard edition and on the development server, we've currently got the old 10.2.0.1 EE database and the new 10.2.0.5 SE database running concurrently. The EE version has encountered the same issue described above, while the SE version has not.
My other problem is that I work in the pharmaceutical industry and this is a heavily regulated database and I cannot make arbitrary changes to databases/servers without evidence to support the change.
Any Oracle/Windows experts out there that can shed some light on this problem?
    Thanks

Thanks to both of you for the speedy response. I have already seen that article, as well as 790397.1 - PROCESS J000 And M000 Die [ID 790397.1]. I'm just a little confused as to why Oracle is saying it's an out of memory condition when there's nothing in the log or trace files (other than the condition matches a couple of articles they have) that support the conclusion. Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not an Oracle on Windows expert, most of my stuff revolves around Linux/UNIX and I avoid anything windows like the plague, other than starting a putty session.
My understanding is that each process in a windows 32bit environment gets a 4GB Virtual Address Space, which is split into a lower 2GB application space and an upper 2GB kernel space. If the trace file is showing that only 1.6GB of physical memory has been consumed, wouldn't this indicate that there isn't a single process on the server that is even close to reaching it's 2GB limitation?

Can anyone please help regarding this issue and defunct oracle process?
    Thanks

    Well, You should get one.
But this error is related to too low opsystem parameters. Check system logs (/var/adm), dmesg and others to see is there any at time of crash with some more detailed information.
Check You swap space, if some process ocuppied 8GB, then it can happen that You run out of swap.
and I would suggest to bounce database, kill all defunct processes and start database again.

    4. When I log on as oracle user and query v$instance, then error shown above occured. And also when startup  the database then another error occured as in above. WHY?
    5. When I edit /etc/oratab file manually why second row saved but the first one is changed after restart the system?
    6. Normally, which user have to start, stop or manage database? I think that oracle user is necessary for managing database and the grid user is only for managing ASM and Oracle Restart.
PLEASE HELP ME TO SOLVE THIS CHAOTİC SİTUATİON!!!

I have installed an Oracle 11gR2 on Oracle Linux Server 6.6 (Virtualbox)

As noted in your other thread - Failed to start oracle-ohasd, error: Inappropriate ioctl for device ohasd failed to start at roothas.pl - you will need a minimum version of 11.2.0.3 for Linux 6.x - using a lower version may result in unexpected issues or problems.

  • Spatial query index creation fails with ORA-13282: failure on initializatio

    Hi,
I have an Oracle 10g 10.2.0.5.0 database newly installed. Spatial index creation fails:
ORA-29855: error occurred in the execution of ODCIINDEXCREATE routine
ORA-13282: failure on initialization of coordinate transformation
    ORA-06512: at "MDSYS.SDO_INDEX_METHOD_10I", line 10
The script I am trying to run is:

    Values
    ('SOME_TABLE', 'geo',
    "SDO_DIM_ARRAY"(

    CREATE INDEX IX_GEO_SOME_TABLE ON SOME_TABLE (GEO) INDEXTYPE IS MDSYS.SPATIAL_INDEX ;
Earlier I had some issues with NLS settings in relation to Spatial, but in this particular case setting the NLS_LANG for AMERICAN_AMERICA does not help. I found this comment http://www.orafaq.com/forum/t/127312/2/ but would not like to hack around with MDSYS table content. Any help is highly appreciated.
    Regards, Tamas

    Tamas,
1 . . .Are you indexing a table that already has geometries or an empty table?
. . . .If the former, do all the geometries in that table have the same (not NULL) SRID (23700)?
2 . .The link you posted suggests a parsing problem since in Hungarian (23700), the decimal seperator is a comma (not a period). Accordingly, I believe the edit to mdsys.sdo_cs_srs.WKTEXT would be:
PROJCS["HD72 / EOV", GEOGCS [ "HD72", DATUM ["Hungarian Datum 1972 (EPSG ID 6237)", SPHEROID ["GRS 1967 (EPSG ID 7036)", 6378160, 298,247167427]], PRIMEM [ "Greenwich", 0,000000 ], UNIT ["Decimal Degree", 0,01745329251994328]], PROJECTION ["Egyseges Orszagos Vetuleti (EPSG OP 19931)"], UNIT ["Meter", 1]]

  • ORA-32003: error occured processing parameter 'distributed_transactions'

    Hi,
We are having oracle 10g database on AIX platform. As of now,Our database is running on pfile and We wanted the database to run on spfile.I tried to create the spfile and It is throwing the below error.Could somebody help me out on this issue...
    SQL> create spfile from pfile;
    create spfile from pfile
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters
ORA-32003: error occured processing parameter 'distributed_transactions'
    LRM-00101: unknown parameter name 'distributed_transactions'
I read the following old thread in this discussion forum related to this error , but I could not find a solution in that thread.
    error occured processing parameter

    Hi Satish,
I'm not sure.I have taken up this project recently and seeing lot of issues with the databases, might be lack of proper administration.
For some other database also I'm getting the same error for the parameter 'job_queue_interval'
    SQL> create spfile from pfile;
    create spfile from pfile
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-01078: failure in processing system parameters
ORA-32003: error occured processing parameter 'job_queue_interval'
    LRM-00101: unknown parameter name 'job_queue_interval'
If these are the parameters from oracle 8.1.7,can I comment these out.
or How can I resolve these issues related to the parameters.

  • PL/SQL: ORA-04052: error occurred when looking up remote object.

    Hi All,
I'm getting the following error message while executing a PL/SQL Block.
PL/SQL: ORA-04052: error occurred when looking up remote object UPLDUSER.filestatushistory@FTS
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-03106: fatal two-task communication protocol error
    ORA-02063: preceding line from FTSStatement
    declare
    v_coun number;
    begin
    select count(*) into v_coun
    from updluser.filestatushistory@fts;
end;Back ground of the situation as follows,
My DataBase version 10.2.0.3 DB Name :DB1
    Table Owner : UPLDUSER
    Table Name : FILESTATUSHISTORY
I have a report user on the same database and I have grant all on the above table to report user
    Report User : RPT_FTS
SQL> GRANT ALL ON FILESTATUSHISTORY_V TO RPT_FTS;Now Please find the below database details where I'm getting subjected error.
    Database version : 9.2.0.8
    DB Name : DB2
    User Name : RPT_REPORTS
I Have create a dblink from RPT_REPORTS to RPT_FTS on DB1 and the dblink works fine. But getting the above error while running it.
but When I do the same other 10.2.0.3 db , the above PL/SQL block works fine without any problem.
    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
    Now the strange about this is that I have Created a new table on DB1 db like below;
SQL> CREATE TABLE UPLDUSER.ABC AS SELECT * FROM FILESTATUSHISTORY;and retry my code on DB2 (9.2.0.8) after changing the table to ABC and it worked. Now I don't know whats wrong with a original table(FILESTATUSHISTORY).
To over come the problem and a work-a-round method I create a view on the DB1 (RPT_FTS) like the below
SQL> CREATE VIEW FILESTATUSHISTORY AS SELECT * FROM UPLDUSER.FILESTATUSHISTORY;and was able to run the PL/SQL block Remotely.
Just wants To know what whould have been the cause for this .
    Cheers

    Hi,
Please check the timezone set in your server where Weblogic is installed. Also ensure the timezone on which your weblogic is running, the same is present in in database by querying V$TIMEZONE_NAMES table. If it is not present then please change the timezone of the server. then try to execute the steps what you are doing, it will not throw any error.
    if this helps please mark.
    Thanks,

  • ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1 (Call to a Oracle View)

I have created a view that refers to a package function within the sql select.
    Like
    E.x
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW VW_TAX
    as select
    test_pkg.fn_get_gl_value(acct_id) desired_col1,
    test_pkg.fn_get_gl_desc_value(acct_id) desired_col2
    From tables a, b
    a.col= b.col
The sample function( fn_get_gl_value) is embedded into a package (test_pkg).
    Function fn_get_gl_value:
It earlier referred to table A1, B1, C1 and this query took really long, Therefore I used object type tables and stored the values required once within the package when it is invoked. Later I used the Tables A1, B1 and C1(table Cast from the type Table Loaded in Package Memory)
The query was fast and fine, but now when I try to re-use the view
    select * from VW_TAX
    where acct_id = '02846'
    It fails with this message

Seems like your OPEN_CURSORS init.ora parameter is set too low.
    See Metalink Note:1012266.6 for details.
       ORA-01000: "maximum open cursors exceeded"
Cause: A host language program attempted to open too many cursors.
The initialization parameter OPEN_CURSORS determines the
maximum number of cursors per user.
Action: Modify the program to use fewer cursors. If this error occurs
often, shut down Oracle, increase the value of OPEN_CURSORS,
                   and then restart Oracle.

I am trying to replicate in Oracle what I would do in SQL Server. There's your first mistake. There are too many differences. My first programming language was COBOL, but I don't write other languages as if they were COBOL.
I cannot attach an image of the users & tablespace, to illustrate.Another reason to work in sqlplus.

I created 2 User = Boundaries and Project
I created several schemas (tables)No, you created 2 schemas. One user = one schema = one user.
A schema is not a table and a table is not a schema. A schema is a collection of objects, which can include multiple tables but only those owned by one username.

    Boundaries (user)

    Country
    Province
    District
    Village
    Projects (user)
    Tables:
    Program
Project.Program has a FK = Country that is linked to Boundaries.Country
I need to create several scemas (databases):Another difference. a schema is not a database, though the sql server concept of a database is somewhat analogous to an oracle schema.
    Boundaries, Project, Assets.
There are foreign keys linking the various schemas.FKs link tables not schemas.

Or do i need to use
alter table OWNER.TABLE shrink space; only ?
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi,
I am doing this in testing enviornment and before this activity added 4g space to existing 50GB undo tablespace.
No jobs are running in testing environment and the shrinking on table is of 12GB. I cann't import/export and truncate or move to different tablespaces as this has oracle advanced queue and chances are more to corrupt queues.
