Oracle 10g unable to insert yet prompt no error
Hi all,
I bumped into this strange case. I have my web app connect to oracle 10g. I got all driver and JDBC setup and coded correctly. Somehow, it won't insert into table when i execute insert statement. No exceptions thrown and yet no error. I'm still finding a way to overcome this strange problem. In the mean time, appreciate if anyone out there able to help me to figure out.
I suspect the driver class is causing problem. But to me, it's just a standard bunch of code:
Connection con = null;
try {
// Load the JDBC driver
String driverName = "oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver";
Class.forName(driverName);
// Create a connection to the database
String serverName = "127.0.0.1";
String portNumber = "1521";
String sid = "orcl";
String url = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@" + serverName + ":" + portNumber + ":" + sid;
String username = "ivan";
String password = "admin123";
con = DriverManager.getConnection(url, username, password);
} catch (ClassNotFoundException e) {
// Could not find the database driver
} catch (SQLException e) {
// Could not connect to the database
return con;
Thanks!
Ivan Brogalis
1 - The code posted, creates an SQL connection and returns it. There is no insert query ! Plz post the whole code.
2 - Append this the catch block :
catch (Exception e){
e.printStackTrace();////////////////// USE THIS FOR THE OTHER CATCH BLOCKS TO HELPS U IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM
}3 - Check whether the connection created is good : make s simple select like the following : String select = "Select sysdate from dual";4 - Check whether the user(name=ivan, password=admin123) has the SELECT/UPDATE rights.

The PC has window XP OS system. When I do admin function, the system fails with invalid password for host username. I type in the password that I use to login to windows which is set at local level.

Oracle 10g AS on RHEL3 -- While restarting Component-- Error occurs
Friends,
I have installed Oracle 10g AS on RHEL3, under Oracle_Home where already Oracle9i is installed. I got some errors while changing the parameters in component[u] home and restarting it. I have changed some parameters in webcache and succesfully restarted.
1) OC4J-home - failed to set the process status to ProcStatusRestart.
2) OC4J.home - failed to restart a managed process after the maximum retry limit.
I have commented some lines in server.xml(commented log, in order to
reduce space for testing process) and one more file global_******.xml
It also shows errors like orionp..... javahostexception.
1)Can we install different versions of Oracle under one Oracle_Home.
2)What could be the cause of the problem.
3)How can i rectify it.
Help me.
Thanks,
RajHi all,

Performance Tuning in Oracle 10g during Migration - Insert Statements
Some of the tables contain a huge data e.g. 7 million records to be migrated.
The table structure of Source Database is different from the Target Database (Where we are doing the migration).
So we have made a use of temporary tables to collect the data from different tables using joins and populate the main table using INSERT INTO tableA SELECT * FROM tableZ
Now the problem statement.
Some of the queries take infinite time and data doesnt get inserted into the main tables. I have seen the explain plan and didnt find anything unusual. The same query works fine when we use date time stamp and restrict the data.
What parameters do we have to take care ? Is there any configuration needed on Oracle Server side ? If yes which parameters?Lets start with the basics. First what is 10g? Is that 10.1.0.3 or 10.2.0.4 or something else?
Second 7 million records is a relatively small dataset.
No one can possibly help you with no DDL, no DML, no Explain Plan output generated with DBMS_XPLAN.
We can make wild guesses but that is like closing your eyes in a dark room and trying to find the light switch.
Please repost all relevant information so someone can help you. -

Let me give a little piece of advice.
If your success kit didn't arrive in two months then you will not ever receive it
until unless you let somebody know from OCP team probably.
I have encountered this kind of situation twice. It didn't arrive in due time.
Actually it would not arrive if I didn't keep writing emails.
I myself passed 1z0-050 on May 14, recently.
I don't know but completely sure that it will not arrive in two months.
And I know that after I will not have it in time I will write emails again, then the support will
tell me that their records indicate that it was shipped at some xxx date and so on, then they
will reship it again and then no one will know yet whether I will have it or not.
So, I would not advice to keep waiting but to take the phone and call them directly.
That will solve your problem for sure.Please note I do not hold with this advice.
Please note that in my opinion registering on certview and following the procedure there and in the FAQs from http://certification.oracle.com is the correct way to proceed. This eventuality is a known issue and there are standard procedures for dealing with it.
Doing other than this will simply cause pain to everyone.
This is of course currently my opinion. -

Check the Module property: Console Window. If this property is null, then the Status Bar will not be displayed during runtime. You have to set this property for each form.

The "Splash.gif" is located in the frmall.jar file. What is it you want to do? Do you want to use a different spash image during application startup? If yes, you can display a different startup splash image by using the splachScreen= parameter in the formsweb.cfg file. The replacement .gif file must be located in the directory specified in the imageBase= parameter. Keep in mind that this file will need to be signed or you will get a security warning.

Then the next page doesn't show me anything. Just applet blank(black page) and the message in the status bar as opening page but form doesn't show me anything. What could be the problem . Am I missing something. Mail me at [email protected]
Regards,
FirozHi Pnosko,
Do you mean that there is nothing in the form. After confirmation page that form server installed successfully the form is not supposed to show me anything. Please confirm it. I tend to think it is the problem of Jinitiator with IE(the browser I am using).

Unable to Insert record In forms: error -ORA-01779 :cannot modify a column
Hi,
I have created one form with two block.
Block-1 : Based on View
Block-2 : Based on table
There is is relationship between Block-1 and Block-2.
Block-1 is populating from LOV.
I just need to insert /update record Block-2 based on data from Block-1
So Block-1 I have made read only at runtime (Inser/update all properties are false).
Now when I insert record in Block-2 based on record from block-1, and getting below error.
"ORA-01779: cannot modify a column which maps to a non key-preserved table"
It is not allowing to insert record.
Please help me.
SubirThe error states that there is some operation on a view, not an a table.
Now when I insert record in Block-2 based on record from block-1What does that mean? How do you insert records in block 2?
When exactly occurs the error? -

i started creating database control repository, when i saw emca running i had seen repository created successfully , but sysman user is not created at this point of time. Then i looked into emca_repos_create_2008-04-10_11-57-03-AM.log file but the file is unable to open because it's looking for file emreposcre.sql which creates sysman user in this location /opt/db/oracle/product/10.2.0/sysman/admin/emdrep/sql/
i feel while installing the database these files are not created....? or i need to run any scripts before running emca ....?
give me some inputs to this thread.
Thanks,
nil

ThanaHi,
Have you tried to "escape" the quote by doubling it?
update yourtable
set col1='Applying of Smart 5 S'' Principles';Are you runing your update from a machine which could have a different character set from that one you're running the select?
