Oracle 11g and changes in RDF support?

Hello,
I wanted to ask about the nature of the changes in the RDF support for the version 11g of Oracle RDF Database. Will the changes in the RDF support be only internal or will there be changes to the interfaces as well? Is there any specific documentation on this type of particular change?
Thanks,

Hi Gokhan,
There are changes both internal (several performance improvements, and some functionality additions to existing APIs), and external. The features in 11g can be summarized as follows (they are also included in the Oracle World presentation available at: http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/semantic_technologies/index.html (second link under 'what's new')
(1) Fast bulk-load (several times faster than the 10gR2 batch load) [New API]
(2) Native OWL inferencing (for an OWL subset that includes property characteristics, class comparisons, proprety comparisons, individual comparions and class expressions) [New API]
(3) Faster query [these changes are internal only]
(4) New SQL operators for enhancing a relational query using an ontology
[New API]
(The above is intended to outline our general product direction. It is intended for information purposes only, and may not be incorporated into any contract. It is not a commitment to deliver any material, code, or functionality, and should not be relied upon in making purchasing decisions.The development, release, and timing of any features or functionality described for Oracle’s products remain at the sole discretion of Oracle.)

  • BUG for sort column with Oracle 11g and APEX 3.2

    I have BUG in Report region(Oracle 11g and APEX 3.2). if i have more than 746 Char for my column's value and i want to sort them, this error appear
    Report error :
    ORA-00910: specified length too long for its datatype.
    But in an other environement in Oracle 10g and apex 3.2, with the same data. I have no BUG.
    Somebody have an idea for a possible solution to this problem???

    Again, I may just be wasting your time...but if I have XDB problems...especially with the password, I do the following:
    1. Change your working directory to $ORACLE_HOME/apex.
    2. Start SQL*Plus and connect to the database where Oracle Application Express is installed as SYS.
    3. Run apxconf.sql
    > @apxconf
    4. When prompted, enter a password for the Oracle Application Express Admin account.
    5. When prompted, enter the port for the Oracle XML DB HTTP server. (default port being, of course,8080).
    6. Unlock the ANONYMOUS account
    > ALTER USER ANONYMOUS ACCOUNT UNLOCK;
    7. If needed, I do the SETHTTPPORT command mentioned before...
    Since I'm using the Oracle 11g, with embedded PL/SQL server, I have no idea if this is the same for 10g us OHS?
    Hope that helps!

  • Oracle 11g and PRO*C :  pre-compile errors only with 11g !

    Hi !
    I didn't find a forum specific to pro*c, so here i am.
    I've downloaded Oracle 11g and recompiled our applications using pro*c
    We currently precompiling without any problem our sources against Oracle 7, 8, 9, 10.
    With Oracle 11g, it doesn't work !
    every EXEC SQL followed by a command works.
    every EXEC SQL followed by a query generates the same error.
    Example :
    char *oracle_date_courante()
         static char buf[SIZE_ORADATE+1];
         EXEC SQL SELECT sysdate into :buf from DUAL;
         if(ORA_SQLERROR())
              oracle_error("sélection date courante");
              buf[0]=0;
         return buf;
    PRO*C output :
    Erreur Ó la ligne 105, colonne 2 dans le fichier src\oracle.pc
    EXEC SQL
    .1
    PLS-S-00000, SQL Statement ignored
    erreur sÚmantique Ó la ligne 105, colonne 2, fichier src\oracle.pc:
    EXEC SQL
    .1
    PCC-S-02346, PL/SQL a trouvÚ des erreurs sÚmantiques
    So, we investigated... And found that thoses errors come when we use the option sqlcheck=semantics.
    If we use an inferiour check level, it works but because we use PL/SQL keywords, pro*c prints errors and wants us to provide the 'semantics' sqlcheck level !
    So, it's a vicious circle !
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks...
    Vincent

    Adding the option common_parser=yes removes the errors !
    But brings errors linked to the PL/SQL parser such like
    CSF-S-00000, ORA-06544: PL/SQL : erreur interne, arguments : [55916], [], [], []
    1>, [], [], [], []
    1>ORA-06553: PLS-801: erreur interne [55916]
    Really vicious..and still not precompiling !
    By the way : Server is 10.2.0.1... and i guess thoses errors are normal since the common parser is not available in this version...
    So bye bye option common_parser and i'm back to my orignals errors.

  • Help linking oracle 11g and joomla 1.6

    Hello
    I am currently working on a project which uses Joomla 1.6 and MySQL 5.15. We now need to migrate the DB from MySQL to Oracle 11g R2 and I would like some help in finding a driver between Oracle 11g and Joomla 1.6. If anybody has worked with and successfully connected these two could you please help me out.
    Could really do with the help as I need to complete the project soon.

    Hey there...
    Well.... It sort of all depends on how Joomla is connecting to the database. Are they using a pre-built framework like PDO or Zend ?
    If they are it should be a a relatively easy task to move it to Oracle. If not then you will have to alter their DB layer and replace a lot of the mySQL calls with Oracle calls and add a few. For example MySQL does not parse a statement prior to execution but Oracle does eg:
    $oraDB = oci_connect([parms]);
    $query = oci_parse($OraDB,'select 'a' from dual');
    // If you are binding variables it would go between the parse and execute areas and it is mostly the same as doing
    // it with MySQL
    oci_execute($query);
    $data = oci_fetch_assoc($query);The instant client and the full client do things very differently and connections to the DB server are done differently so you will need to understand those differences and code accordingly.
    The OCI_8 php libraries are well established and documented. They must be installed on the server on which Joomla is running.
    If your machine is setup correctly this is as simple as:
    %pecl install oci8
    pecl will take care of pretty much everything including dealing with 32 -v- 64 bit and all you need do is make an entry in the php extension section letting it know the OCI libraries are installed. If not it is a bit more complicated.
    The software along with the instructions ca be found here: http://pecl.php.net/package/oci8
    You must have either the instant client or the regular Oracle client installed on the server on which Joomla is running.
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.htmlhttp://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
    After you accept the license agreement click on "See All" and you will see both the instant client and the full client for the version you require.
    It is extremely un-wise to attempt to run any version of oracle on the machine running joomla / Apache. If you do so, then you stand a better then even chance of failure as Oracle does not like to share resources.
    Make sure you read the install instructions for the oracle client and pay very close attention to things like environment settings and permissions issues on the php server as these are some of the most common problems. Once the client is installed and the oci libraries are installed things should run very smoothly. The whole php to Oracle chain is very fast and the fact that the db server is remote from the web server will not be an issue as long as the links are fast.
    If you have problems get back to us and we will do the best we can to help you sort things out.

  • ORACLE 11G AND IIS 7.0

    Hello ....
    I have an application server with Windows Server 2008, IIS 7 and Oracle Data Provider 11G.
    The website was set up. NET 2008 has made reference to the oracle, and to run from the application
    working properly executes the SQL without problem, but to make the creation of a website
    The IIS 7, and test its functionality, displays the following error
    Could not load file or assembly 'Oracle.Web, Version = 2.111.6.20' or one of its dependencies.
    The system can not find the file specified.
    The problem may be a compatibility between the version of Oracle 11G and IIS 7.0, I do not know if there is an
    additional component to the IIS 7.0 can recognize the version of Oracle as a provider of data?
    Please I am attentive to their solutions .... Thank you

    One thing might be if the web server has multiple versions of Oracle installed, then check to see which is first in the path. Another would be that at the least IIS would need to be restarted after the Oracle install, for the path to take effect, possibly the whole machine would need a re-boot for this.

  • Oracle 11g and 12c on same windows 7 machine

    Hi folks,
    Want to try out 12c on my windows 7 laptop but still want to keep my 11g database.
    Anyone tried running Oracle 11g and 12c on same windows machine?
    Any links or guidelines are appreciated
    Thanks

    you won't be the first or the last person to try it.
    this question can be easily answered but why question something that it's easier to test by yourself?
    My advice: Try and if you have problems then question us.

  • Oracle 11g and Supported Programming Languages for application development

    Hi,
    Currently we are running our Java application on Oracle 10g Lite. We are planning to upgrade to Oracle 11g Lite very soon. I have below queries to be answered.
    1. What are the programming languages supported for application development to work with Oracle 11g Lite mobile server and client ?
        - i have seen some note saying java and .net are supported. Wanted to know the complete list of supported programming languages on Oracle 10g Lite
    2. Oracle Forms 10g is supported on Oracle 11g Lite platform ?
        - i have some online application running on Oracle 10G Forms. Wanted to extend this to offline model using Oracle 10g Lite
    Thanks,
    Ashok Kumar.G

    Hi Ashok,
    1. What are the programming languages supported for application development to work with Oracle 11g Lite mobile server and client ?
                For the 11g version of the product, we changed the name to Oracle Database Mobile Server.    For clarity purposes, there is no product called Oracle 11g Lite mobile server.
                For a detailed list of what is/is not supported on the client, please consult the documentation.   See section 2.1 of the Mobile Client guide.  For programming languages you
                can use what you want, and we support the following technologies, JDBC, ODBC, ADO.NET.  What you code your application in is up to you.
    2. Oracle Forms 10g is supported on Oracle 11g Lite platform ?
                   On the database mobile server side of things we do not do testing with Oracle Forms 10g.    I do not know enough about applications developed with the Forms' product.   Database Mobile Server is a product that keeps tracks of changes that occur in a database, and then propagates those changes to an Oracle backend.   We offer 2 way synchronization between an Oracle backend database and a client.  If you are running the Forms application on the Oracle backend and want to propagate changes done out to the client, then this should work.    I say ** should **   because we have not tested it but I cannot think of a reason why it would not work.   It would be up to you to develop the client side application that would look at the data in the client database and display it to the user.    In the 11.x version of the product, we support 2 client databases, Berkeley DB and SQLite.
    thanks

  • Oracle 11g and iSeries ODBC 32/64bit version???

    Hi folks,
    I've some questions....
    I need setup a new server with Oracle db 11g and from this db i need setup a DBLINK to an IBM iSeries (AS/400) server. I've some doubts about the 32/64 bit version to use.
    My idea is:
    Oracle Linux 64bit
    Oracle Database 11g 64bit
    Oracle Gateway 11g 64bit
    IBM i Access ODBC driver 64bit ( maybe 7.1 version?!?!?!)
    Do you think I'll be able to achieve my goal with this configuration?
    Else where can you suggest me a valid and wonrking configuration?
    Thank you very much!!!!
    bye bye

    Emilio,
    That combination of products should work, as long as the ODBC driver is 64-bit and satisfies the ODBC driver criteria listed in the documentation.
    If you have access to My Oracle Support have a look at this note -

  • Oracle 11G and SqlDataSource: 'ORA-01036: illegal variable name/number'

    [Resolved - http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=2366331&#2366331]
    I've created a short video to explain my problem with Oracle and SqlDataSource. If you'd rather watch than read, go see the video at http://www.kencox.ca/video/oracelandsqldatasource.html.
    I'm trying to do some extremely simple drag and drop development in Visual Web Developer 2008 with the Oracle 11g database and ODP.NET. According to Oracle, "The data provider can be used with the latest .NET Framework 3.5 version. "
    The SELECT statement works fine, but any attempt to use UPDATE via the SQLDataSource UpdateCommand nets me the infamous 'ORA-01036: illegal variable name/number' error.
    I wouldn't mind using one of my MSDN Support Incidents to have Microsoft take a look at this issue, but I'm not sure the problem is Microsoft's. It seems like Oracle is doing a poor job in its Visual Studio integration.
    Question: Has anyone successfully used an UpdateCommand statement in SQLDataSource against Oracle 11g? If so, let me know!
    Below, you see the entire code as generated in Visual Web Developer 2008. To see it in action, check the video at http://www.kencox.ca/video/oracelandsqldatasource.html.

    Ken,
    One thing to be aware of is Microsoft has produced Visual Studio database tools and data provider for Oracle. In addition, Oracle has produced its own tools. Knowing which products you are using is important because you want to know which company you should be complaining about. :-)
    In your video, you are using all Microsoft tools and data provider, not Oracle's.
    I would recommend using Oracle Developer Tools (ODT) for VS and ODP.NET since these products are much better integrated with .NET and Oracle.
    ODP.NET uses Oracle.DataAccess.Client namespace. System.Data.OracleClient belongs to the MS provider for Oracle, which Mark pointed out. If you drag and drop DB objects using ODT, it will generate ODP.NET code for you (and give you more data source wizard options as well).
    You can download the latest 11g version of ODP.NET and ODT here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/windows/odpnet/index.html
    These support .NET 3.5 and VS 2008.

  • Find Datas from Select Satement - Oracle 11g After changing the Connection?

    Iam very very new to Oracle. Yesterday only I have Installed Oracle 11G & created DataBase - JafferDB
    And from Oracle SQL Developer, I have created a connection called - JafferCon and SID also given..and the role is - SYSDBA
    And I excute the below statement
    insert into MyTable1 Values ('AAA1', 'BBB1', 'CCC1')
    insert into MyTable1 Values ('AAA2', 'BBB2', 'CCC2')
    Then I checked by Select statement, it has shown the values....No Problem....
    But, as a test, I deleted the connection and created a new connection tio the same DataBase with different name
    and when I checked by Select Statement....., it has not shown the values....????
    Does any mistakes....?
    Thanks for the directions...

    after you insert, update or delete any data in the database you must use "commit" or "rollback" statement. Commit if you want "save" the changes or rollback if you don't.
    Other users can't see this new changes until you do the "commit".

  • Issue in Oracle 11g Database Change Notification  for Java application

    Hi,
    I am trying to use Oracle's Database Change Notification in Java application.
    I followed the sample application (+DBChangeNotification.java+ , Example 29-2), provided in the following link:
    +[http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/java.111/b31224/dbmgmnt.htm#CHDEJECF]+
    I am able to see that the Registration of the SQL query is successful.
    But, when I do changes to the table registered, notifications are not received in the Listener class (+DCNDemoListener.java+).
    Ideally, the method DCNDemoListener.onDatabaseChangeNotification() should be invoked on any insert/update to the registered table. But this method is not getting invoked.
    The execution has stopped in the following line of DBChangeNotification.java Class.
    this.wait();
    +==> The application was WAITing indefinitely in this line, as the NOTIFY() from DCNDemoListener.java was not executed.+
    I am using VPN to connect to Oracel server. Remote Oracle Server is protected my firewall. Is this the reason for not sending the notifications from Oracle server?
    The version of software used are given below:
    Oracle Client - Oracle 11.1.0
    JDK - 1.6
    Oracle JDBC Driver - ojdbc6.jar
    Can someone help me to resolve this issue?
    Thanks in Advance.

  • ODBC connectivity between Oracle 11G and MSSQL Server on Solaris 10

    Can anyone help me see what I'm missing?

    Thank you for your response.
    I modified the envs LD_LIBRARY_PATH parameter in my SID_LIST_LISTENERODBC to be:
    (ENV="LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/freetds/lib:/usr/local/unixODBC/lib:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1/lib:/
    u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1/hs/lib")
    and bounced the listener, but I'm still getting the same error.
    I do not have a lib64 directory in my Freetds installation, but all the files in the lib directory are 64-bit.
    Here is a listing of my DG4ODBC init file:
    /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1/hs/admin[PPRD]> more initidentipass.ora
    # This is a sample agent init file that contains the HS parameters that are
    # needed for an ODBC Agent.

    # ODBC specific environment variables
    set ODBCINI=/usr/local/unixODBC/etc/odbc.ini

    Thanks for your help with this!

    Hi;
    how can i install oracle 10g and 11g on same linux server ????
    10g database is already installed , i want to installed 11g on the same machine. How can i do this???You may go wiht different mount point like to create /oracle11g and /oracle10g and you can choose related path for your installation.
    Please read:

  • USER_DEPENDENCIES view in oracle 11g and oracle 10g are different?

    I have tested oracle 10g and oracle 11g. And I found some different behavior in the user_dependencies view between two oracle version.
    In the oracle 10g, whatever referenced object is populated in the user_dependencies view. In the oracle 11g, however, only valid referenced objects are populated in it.
    For example, a package, pac_1, references table, ref_tab_1, and package, ref_pac_2. After ref_tab_1 is dropped and ref_pac_2 is invalid, I query to user_dependencies.
    sql> select referenced_name, referenced_type from user_dependencies where name = 'pac_1'.
    In oracle 10g, the result is like the following,
    < referenced_type > , < referenced_name >
    non-existent , ref_tab_1
    package , ref_pac_2
    In oracle 11g, the result is not showing non-existed object nor invlid object like the following,
    no rows selected
    Is that the TRUE or do I missed some when I installed database or created database in 11g?
    Is there a way to make the behavior of user_dependencies like it in 10g which shows all the referenced objets?
