Oracle 8.1.5 and JDBC OCI connection problem

We are running Oracle 8.1.5 on Solaris 7 machine, and our java application running on JDK 1.2 connects to Oracle via JDBC thin driver because we couldn't make jdbc oci driver work.
When we try to connect via oci with the driver originally shipped with 8.1.5, we get:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: make_c_state
at oracle.jdbc.oci8.OCIDBAccess.logon(OCIDBAccess.java:213)
at oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleConnection.<init>(OracleConnection.java:198)

at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(Compiled Code)
at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:137)
at JDBCTest.main(Compiled Code)
After we downloaded 8.1.6sdk driver from technet and install it, we get:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no ocijdbc8 in java.library.path

I searched this forum for answer and only relevent answer from oracle was: consult README file! Readme file mentions that lobocijdbc.so file is shared library file for oci connection. That't all. So what?
I added the directory where libocijdbc8.so resides to LD_LIBRARY_PATH, and System.getProperty("java.library.path") shows content of LD_LIBRARY_PATH correctly.
null

Please this is not simple as simple as checking the classpath and LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
I tried the sample program and the result is the same. As pointed out first by Won, putting the libocijdbc8.so from SDK8.1.6 in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH has no effect at all. It gives the unsatisfied linker error. The sample program fails. However the sample program works fine with the libocijdbc8.so from sdk8.1.5. The library gets loaded. But at the time of creating the connection it gives make_c_state error.
Here is my CLASSPATH, PATH and LD_LIBARY_PATH variables
ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/product/8.1.5
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib:/usr/lib:/opt/oracle/product/8.1.5/lib
PATH=/usr/openwin/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/ccs/bin:/usr/ucb:/opt/oracle/product/8.1.5/lib
Hope you are able to provide better answer then check your environment variables.
THE libocijdbc8.so FROM SDK8.1.6 DOES NOT GET LOADED AT ALL.
Waiting for the reply.
Please Help.

Vipul Modi.

    What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 9 running on? I will assume Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit for now.
    As for the Help Menu/Update way for updating, are you doing that with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled? If not, please do so.
    Do you have the 9.0.1 Update of the program installed? What version of Camera Raw do you have installed?
    Premiere Elements 9 is an older program where you can still do manual installs for that one and only Update. And, Camera Raw for 9 is no longer being updated.
    For the 9.0.1 Update
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4929
    Camera Raw (last update possible for 9) is 6.5
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
    Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Camera Raw 6.5 update
    Please review and consider the above, and then let us know the outcome.
    Thank you.

  • Urgent ! CORBA and JDBC! The problem is continued...

    Hi Don!
    Thank for Your advice!
    did you use an oci jdbc driver in your code and then deploy it to the jvm in 8.1.6 ?
    you need to use the "server side" jdbc driver documented in the jdbc manuals ...
    Please review the "Oracle8i JDBC Developer's Guide and Reference Release 2 (8.1.6)
    A81354-01" at :
    http://technet.oracle.com/doc/oracle8i_816/java.816/a81354/toc.htm
    Especially the section called "JDBC in the Server: the Server-Side Internal Driver"
    located in Chapter 14 at :
    http://technet.oracle.com/doc/oracle8i_816/java.816/a81354/advanc4.htm#1001042
    But... I have used the "server side" jdbc driver from the beginning in according to specification.
    Moreover, I have applied all variants offered in Chapter 15.
    But I have got, however, the same mistake: "No suitable driver".
    Here are my attempts:
    import java.sql.*;
    import oracle.jdbc.driver.*;
    public java.lang.String PetroDeleteRow() {
    // IMPLEMENT: Operation
    String res="GOOD";
    Connection conn=null;
    try {
    // 1th-variant
    OracleDriver ora = new OracleDriver();
    conn=ora.defaultConnection();
    //2th-variant
    conn=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:kprb:@application:1521:ims2","ims","www");
    //3th-variant
    conn=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:default:connection:");
    //4th-variant
    conn=(OracleConnection)DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:kprb:","ims","www");
    catch (SQLException e) {res=e.toString();}
    return res;
    What did i wrong? ;-((
    Gali
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Don!
    are you running the code inside jdeveloper or inside the 816 jvm ?Yes, of course. I have deployed my CORBA object on the 816 server and then I
    invoked PetroDeleteRow method from my client code.
    try
    System.out.println("Calling pressurecorba.PrognosisInterface methods...\n");
    System.out.println(corbaInterface.PetroDeleteRow());
    System.out.println("...done!");
    catch (Exception e) {
    System.out.println(e.getMessage());
    e.printStackTrace();
    Furthermore, when I use SQLJ in CORBA object all is correct.
    if in jdeveloper what version of it ?I use JDeveloper 3.1.1.2
    Gali
    Thanks in advance!

  • Help!! JDBC local connection problem

    java.sql.SQLException: E/A-Exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection
    trying to connect to Oracle database 9.2 on local machine that is part of network, Windows XP, using jdbc.
    am using following as connect string :
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new
    oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    Connection conn =
    DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@<server_name>:1521:<database_name>",username,password);
    Is this correct?
    Had no problems using above connecting to a local database on a laptop, also Oracle 9.2, also Windows XP, but not on a network.
    tried also :
    ("jdbc:oracle:thin:@<server_name>.<Domain_name>:1521:<database_name>",username,password);
    and
    ("jdbc:oracle:thin:@<server_name>.<Domain_name>:1521:<global_dbname>",username,password);
    but still same error message.
    Can connect to database with sqlplus no problem.
    Listener is running and listening on port 1521.
    Any ideas?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
    Thank you!
    Gil

    Okay, connected.
    It looks like the correct form is :
    Connection conn =
    DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@<server_name>:1521:<SID_NAME>",username,password);
    got SID_NAME from listener.ora

  • JDBC "Closed Connection" Problem

    Hi All,
    I have a 903 BC4J application that has starting getting "JBO-30003: The application pool (P3iDdmModuleLocal) failed to checkout an application module due to the following exception: oracle.jbo.DMLException: JBO-26066: Error during rollback."
    The root cause, however, is "java.sql.SQLException: Closed Connection". Under what circumstances would this occur? The 9i db is not configured with a timeout and, therefore, should not be closing connections at that end.
    Shouldn't the connection pool manager capture invalid connections in the pool before the AppMod issues this message?
    How can I recover from this error?
    All help much appreciated! Thanks!

    ApplicationModule appModule;
    //Obtain oracle.jbo.Transaction
    Transaction transaction=appModule.getTransaction();

  • Weblogic - jndi and data source connectivity problem

    Unable to deploy EJB: OrganizationEJB from sempire_bc.jar
    The DataSource with the JNDI name: OrganizationDB can not be located. Please ensure

    In my console, I have created a connection pool 'oraclePool' and 3 datasource
    'jdbc.GangsterDB', 'jdbc.OrganizationDB' and

    just looking at you weblogic-ejb-jar.xml,
    your ejb jndi names are the same as the data source jndi names...this
    may be your problem.

    Unable to deploy EJB: OrganizationEJB from sempire_bc.jar
    The DataSource with the JNDI name: OrganizationDB can not be located. Please ensure
    that the DataSource has been deployed
    successfully and that the JNDI name in your EJB Deployment descriptor is correct.
    In my console, I have created a connection pool 'oraclePool' and 3 datasource
    'jdbc.GangsterDB', 'jdbc.OrganizationDB' and
    'jdbc.JobDB'. I have also specified the target server and there seems to be no
    error. I have checked 'Monitor All Connection
    Pools' and oraclePool is running. I still do not understand the problem that I
    am getting and have no clue how to solve it.
    Thank you

  • 9780 and Playbook bluetooth connection problem

    I have never experienced bluetooth connecting problems between my 9780 and Playbook 64 previously ... but for last few days I cannot connect them. I have deleted both devices and re-paired successfully. I have turned both fully off (removed 9780 battery) and still no connection.
    I have tested both devices by successfully connecting each of them to other bluetooth devices. They just will not connect to each other for some reason.
    The only change was the recent Playbook Software update.
    I use the Bridge and Tethering all the time and so need Bluetooth to be working ... thanks for any assistance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    maybe you can uninstall then reinstall the Bridge app on your 9780.

  • E65 and Pc Suite Connection Problem

    Hi Everyone,
    I seem to have a problem with my E65. My goal is to synchronize my calendar in Lotus Notes, with my E65, every 30 minutes when I am around the laptop (via bluetooth).
    However, although I am able to connect to my phone via bluetooth from PC Suite (I can see the files in my E65 form my laptop, connect via gprs, etc.), the synchronization doesnt work. It used to work a while back, but then, I remember having similar problems.
    In PC suite v.6.85.14.1, when I click on, "Click here to connect a phone" and choose bluetooth connection in the popup box, my phone appears in the list, with a handshake and a lock icon next to it (paired). I select my phone in the list, hit next, and it says "You now have the following connections available: Arda E65". Great! But when I go back to the PC Suite, it still says "Click here to connect a phone". Damn!
    Also, there is a PC Sync icon in my taskbar. Click on it, and the Nokia PC Sync comes up. The synchronize now option is faded out, and only View last report and Select Phone is available. When I click on Select Phone, nothing comes up..
    Can someone please help me with this problem as I really need that feature. That was one of my reasons for buying the Nokia E65...
    Thanks in advance,
    Arda..

    Hi,
    Ever find a fix ?  My problem is below (seems very similar). This group has not helped me yet.

  • Problem with Oracle 8.1.7 and JDBC

    Im connecting to Oracle 8.1.7 (running on a MS Windows Server) from a JBoss 2.4.10,
    running on a Linux box. The code that generates the problem looks like this :
    String query = "SELECT some_fields FROM some_table WHERE id = ?";
    Prepared Statement ps = conn.prepareStatement(query);
    ps.setString(1, id.toString());
    ps.executeQuery(); // this throws the folowing exception
    java.sql.SQLException: Zamkni?ta instrukcja
    at oracle.jdbc.dbaccess.DBError.throwSqlException(DBError.java:169)
    at oracle.jdbc.dbaccess.DBError.throwSqlException(DBError.java:211)
    at oracle.jdbc.dbaccess.DBError.throwSqlException(DBError.java:274)
    at oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleStatement.ensureOpen(OracleStatement.java:49

    edStatement.java:382)

    dStatement.java:339)
    at org.jboss.pool.jdbc.PreparedStatementInPool.executeQuery(PreparedStat
    ementInPool.java:71)
    The connection is ok. The statement is not closed or anything. The syntax of the query is ok, because i tested it on the Oracle console. What is
    strange, is that this exception is thrown only some times. What I mean is that
    regardles of the id parameter, the execution of this query some times throws
    an excpetion, and some times not, without any special patern.
    I will be gratefull for all help

    ID is a NUMBER and id.toString() is not a number, for
    example it ca be a null reference.
    well we tryed also this version :
    ps.setLong(1, id.longValue());
    moreover the exception wasn't thrown for the value of id :56 but was thrown for the value of id : 88. Hence I think it is a case of something other than my code.

    Please if have a solution to this problem let me know,
    Please don't say use thin driver because OCI is required on my envirnoment

    Are you sure you are using the Oracle OCI JDBC driver? From you stack trace you are not, you are using the JDBC-ODBC bridge.
    >>
    sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbc.SQLDisconnect(J)V+132
    j sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver.disconnect(J)V+4
    j sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcConnection.close()V+42
    j oracle.toplink.essentials.internal.databaseaccess.DatabaseAccessor.closeDatasourceConnection()V+4
    Ensure you set your database url and driver class in your persistence XML (or DataSource config) to be the Oracle JDBC driver and the Oracle OCI url.
    i.e.
    toplink.jdbc.driver - oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver
    toplink.jdbc.url - jdbc:oracle:oci:@instance

  • Developer 6.0 and oracle 8.1.5 personal for 98 connectivity problem

    I have see a couple postings on this. Most say to move the sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora files from the oracle 8i(home)/network/admin/ to developer(home)/network/admin or /net80/admin/ directories. My problem is that there isnt an sqlnet.ora file in the oracl8i directory. I did install the NT version just like this and all is fine but I need to install the 98 version here at home. If you can help I would appreciate it. Post here or e-mail me at [email protected]
    Thanks

    I've been dealing with the same problems in the english version but could bypass thiss by doing the folowing.
    -Just ignore the disk space stuff
    -Ignore the charset message, also
    -When creating a database, choose custom and then select the WE8ISO8859P1 char set. It worked for portuguese, must work for french also.
    -Everyone here recommended, and I do the same, leave the database creation for later, not during instalation.
    Good Luck!

  • JDBC/Servlets Connectivity Problems.

    Hi,
    I'm new to Java development.
    I'm trying to run this simple Servlet on
    OS : Sun Solaris 2.6
    Web Server : Netscape Enterprise Server
    Database : Oracle 8i
    JDK2 and JSDK2 installed on the Server.
    JDBC Driver : Native Oracle JDBC Driver
    This program works perfect on the Server if I run it as a program (Not a Servlet). However when running it as a Servlet, JUST DOESN't do ANYTHING. Doesn't return any error nor does execute the SQL Command.
    Also how can I enable tracing to Trap errors generated on the Server by the Servlet.
    Thanks for all your help....

    To run servlets you must have a special server to run them like JRun or Java Web Server visit www.allaire.com to download JRun
    You must also download the servlet.jar
    java.sun.com
    you must configure your CLASSPATH too
    CLASSPATH=".:<path>classes12_01.zip":".:<path>servelet.jar"
