Oracle 9i Agent Startup
Hi,
I have Oracle 9i Rel.2 installed on Windows Advanced Server machine. When I try to start Oracle Agent, it gives the following error
"Could not start OracleOraHOme901Agent Service on local computer. The service didn't return an error. This could be an internal windows error or an internal service error......"
OracleOraHomeAgent log file shows the following
Service name is OracleOraHome901Agent
nmiumini_initializeUM: Unable to initialize UQFailed while initializing user subsystem
Error initializing subsystems
Agent exited on 10/07/2005 12:10a with return value 55
Could not start agent. Initialization failure
Agent startup failed. Check C:\oracle\ora90\network\log\OracleOraHome901Agent.nohup for details
I would really appreciate if any expert can give me a suggestion on how to resolve this issue.

Check your windows registry under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\
see how many KEY_<HOME>_NAME listed there, remove the one not needed.

Oracle Intelligent Agent Startup Error
Whenever I try to startup the Oracle Intelligent Agent on my DB server I get
the error:
could not open emtab at /var/opt/oracle/emtab.
I am using Oracle9iR2 and have installed the complete package. I did a
search of the HD and this file does not exists anywhere..which explains why
it was not found! does anyone know what I must do to resolve this problem?
can I just ignore this error???
Note: I only want to run the agent, the EM database is not installed on this machine but a seperate machine in another location.

Steve,No, just the 9i R2 database + EM, we don't use AS. Maybe I can just ignore this error?? Sometimes I notice oracle gives errors which are in fact just warnings or information. not very helpful as you never know. Not sure if I can ignore this or not.

Oracle intelligent agent failure
Hi,
I am on windows 2000 server running Oracle 9i database and I cannot start the intelligent agent for database 9i it keeps giving the ,message that it is idle therefore was stopped. When I start it in dos it dumps the message belog in its log. I would like to use the OEM to manage my database but can't because the OMS cannot detect my nodes cos the agent is not running. Please assist.

In my case it was solved when I was creating a system environment variable named TZ and choosed a valid content, see metalink for timezone problems:
nsupportedtzs.lst
supportedtzs.lst
in the sysman\admin should have a common denominator.

Oracle Intelligent Agent Service Start Error...

My operating system is Windows Server 2003 and I have Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 database server installed on it ...I have also DataGuard Configuration between my primary and standby sides...
Everything has been OK till this morning I restarded my primary database server from some reason and when my operating system has begun, I received an error message like
"Oracle Intelligent Agent Executable has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
then I looked up the eventvwr and I saw the log was "Agent Process exited abnormally during initialization"
When I ran agentctl start command I received
"Service could not be started.Check agntsrvc.log for details"
My agntsrvc.log file has

Hi Team,
10.2.0.4 Agent startup fails with below errors.Customer is having 30 agents in failover on the same system .Issue is happening for his newly installed agents and existing agents also.
When he stop few agents(like 26th agent and 27th agent... ) and he able to start the agent which is failed to start with below error.Issue looks like lack of some resources to start the agent.

Here emctl agent start command is trying to to load a 32 bit library in stead of the 64 bit.which is causing the issue:

Oracle Intelligent Agent Won't Run
Hello World,
I have just installed Oracle 9i DB on Windows XP. When I installed Oracle
Dev. Suite 9i on the same machine my Oracle Intelligent Agent stopped working. I checked the services tool and noticed that the installation of DEV. SUITE 9i had installed an agent for Developer's Suite Oracle home. Both agents are not working. They both terminate in the same manner AGNTSRVC.exe Failed and the GUI request to send the error to MicroSoft. What can I do to get this Oracle Agent working.

EmmanuelI am also having this problem, but generally just when it is starting on boot up. I can go into services and start it manually, so it runs (although it has a tendency to crash). I get the following in the nohup file:

Oracle AD4J Agent Installation Procedures for Apache Jserv
Hi,
Has anybody installed AD4J? I got confused during deply Oracle AD4J Agent for Apache Jserv.
1) For Set up classpath in jserv.conf. The jserv.conf is in target application server? e.g the application server ebiz installed ?
2) Loading the servlet at startup time:
The installation guid only has the following line:
servlets.startup=jamagent.jaminitservlet.jamagent.jaminit.initArgs=jamconshost=localhostservlet.jamagent.jaminit.initArgs=jamconsport=3600
Should I change some configuration file by adding this line. The file is zone.properties of ebiz application server ?
How do I know the Agent is installed at Apach Jserv successfully?

taoI'm trying to configure AD4J with E-business suite Apache Jserv (11i). I've added the following to $IAS_ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Jserv/etc/zone.properties and executed $COMMON_TOP/admin/scripts/$CONTEXT_NAME/adapcctl.sh stop and start, but am not seeing any results. The console doesn't seem to pick anything up and none of the log files seem to reflect the loading of the servlets. Please advice on what other debugging tools I may use to investigate the problem.

Installing oracle management agent 12.1.0.2.0 in silent mode.
version: 12.1.0.2.0
platform: IBM Aix power systems 64bit
I installed the oracle management service along with the oracle management agent that comes along with the the first installation. I deinstalled the first installed OMA and tried to install it again using the silent install mode with the response file.
(oms host and the oma host are the same)
among the 3 modes of silent install described in the installation guide, i used agent deploy method.

Solaris and SPARC VM NOOB Alert!!!
When attempting to run the installer (./install) as root for the Oracle VM Agent 3.3.1 for SPARC (from ovs-ldoms-3.3.1-b1065.tar.gz) I receive the following dependency errors. This is a fresh install of the OS (Solaris 11.2) with a static IP. No further customizations have been made. How do I resolve the dependency errors so the installation can complete successfully?

There was an error during the installation. The Oracle VM Agent
might not be fully installed or configured.I have updated the os using "pkg update entire" and am now getting a few new issues. I was able to install the "onbld" package manually but don't know how to udpate the rest of them. It looks like a newer version exists for all packages already.

Oracle 10g Agent goes down itself
I have been observing the Oracle 10g agent goes down by itself and in grid control it reports as Agent unreachable. where do I see the log why Agent is going down on target everytime.
I guess the location is D:\oracle\agent10g\sysman\log
However, I do not see any information why th agent went down ..

Oracle Intelligent Agent cannot be started
I have installed Oracle 9i into RedHat Linux 9. When I start the Oracle Intelligent Agent, I get nothing response, and find the agent cannot be started.
I find the error message in dbsnmp.nohup which is showed below:
/opt/ora9/product/9.2/bin/dbsnmp: error while loading shared libraries: libvppdc.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Agent exited at Thu Nov 13 23:20:31 HKT 2003 with return value 127
Agent thrashing. Exiting dbsnmpwd at Thu Nov 13 23:20:31 HKT 2003
I found the library object is existed.
[oracle@localhost lib]$ ll libvpp*
-rw-r--r-- 1 oracle oinstall 552036 Apr 26 2002 libvppdc.so

When I follow the "work Around Procedure" from
http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle9i.shtml#OracleInstallationErrors
and download the RPMs (glibc-2.3.2-5.i686.rpm glibc-common-2.3.2-5.i386.rpm glibc-devel-2.3.2-5.i386.rpm) for the procedures.
When I run the command (#rpm -Uvh --oldpackage glibc-2.3.2-5.i686.rpm glibc-common-2.3.2-5.i386.rpm glibc-devel-2.3.2-5.i386.rpm),I found the error shown below:
error:glibc-2.3.2-5.i686.rpm:V3 DSA Signature:BAD, key ID db42a60e
error:glibc-2.3.2-5.i686.rpm cannot be installed
Problem of method 2
When I try to unpack glibc-2.3.2-5.i686.rpm and replace libc-2.3.2.so and libc.so.6 by using the following steps
# mkdir /root/tmp
# mv glibc-2.3.2-5.i686.rpm /root/tmp
# cd /root/tmp
# rpm2cpio glibc-2.3.2-5.i686.rpm | cpio -idmv
# cp /lib/libc-2.3.2.so /lib/libc-2.3.2.so.ORIG
# cp lib/libc-2.3.2.so /lib/.
# rm -f /lib/libc.so.6
# ln -s /lib/libc-2.3.2.so /lib/libc.so.6
I find the system is halted, when I run (# cp lib/libc-2.3.2.so /lib/.) When I reboot the system, I find error
init:error while loading shared libraries:libc.so.6:cannot open shared object file:No such file or directory
Kernel panic: Attempted to kill init.

I am getting the following message after commence of OS (windows XP) on my LAPTOP.
"Oracle Intelligent Agent Executable has Encountered a Problem and needs to close."
due to the above problem it takes time to be fit to start working. that is; when i start my laptop then it gets ready very shortly but just later on it is seen that my laptop gets to be hanged. it seems that some background process runs and during this time nothing can be done on my laptop (even REFRESH - F5 doesn't respond). then after some time the above message comes. this process seems to be very much annoying.
there is a small Oracle database (9i) in my laptop along with Oracle developer (10g).

and set Start Type to Manual for Oracle<ORACLE_HOME_NAME>Agent service
