Oracle 9i Export dump date
I have an Oracle 9i export dump (export.dmp) file and I want to know when this export dump was taken (database snapshot-datetime stamp).
Is there any utility or process to extract this information from dump file.
Thanks
There probably is a utiltiy somewhere.
However, I just open the file using a simple text editor (I use vi) and look at the date on about the 10th line of the file. Just don't save ...

Export & Import data in Oracle (Urgent)
I just wonder whether Oracle 8i has the 'Export & Import data' feature in their DBA Administration tool.
Inside DBA Studio, I found a option to export/import data to text file, but we must connect to Oracle Management Server (OMS) first before we can use that feature. I found the same feature available in Oracle 7.3.3 in Oracle Data Manager.
How to make sure that I have a OMS installed on my server? (I purchase a Oracle 8i Standard Edition, does it include OMS?)
Can we export from a table (database A) to a table in database B? Or We can only do this thru. a dump file? With every installation of an Oracle DB you get the exp(ort) and imp(ort) utilities. You can use them to move data from one user to another.
Run them from the dos-prompt like:
exp parfile=db_out.par
imp parfile=db_in.par
with db_out.par=
file=db.dmp
log= db_out.log
userid=system/?????

The database i want to import into is the mirror of the database whose export dump i want to use. Let me know if this is possible and if yes then how i could do this.
Thanking in advance. Please check the following link for full instructions:

Export table data from production to quality system - Oracle 10.2
Hi,
I am trying to export a few table's data from our production system to the quality system.
Reason: To synchronize the table data between Production and Quality system
System info: SAP ECC 6.0 on Oracle 10.2 ; OS: Solaris
Description:
There are few standard SAP tables which hold the data of the various institutions of our client. Our requirement is to export the master data relevant for a particular institution from the production system to the quality system. We intend to use the Oracle Export and Import utility (Suggestions on the usage of which tool are welcome).
Constraints:
Lets say, there is a table NXXX in production system. This table contains the data for the institutions AA, BB, CC. I intend to export the data relevant to the institution AA from the table NXXX and import the data to the table NXXX in the Quality system.
Now I understand that the schema of these tables are different. In the production system, the schema would be SAP<Prod SID>.NXXX and in the quality system, the schema is SAP<Qas SID>.NXXX. I need your suggestions to overcome this constraint.
Regards,Hi,
I do not think you can just export data in your scenario using the oracle imp/exp tool it's all or nothing...
as for the scema naming between QA/PROD you just need to use :
imp <dump file> fromuser=<PROD schema> touser=<QA schema> only thing you have to look out for is the mandt as it will not change.
I had something similar recently where I had to copy 14+ million rows from Prod to a Dev client without impacting on other clients data for this table in Dev.
So for data consistancy
1) I restored a copy of prod on a new LPAR and exported the table.
2) Created a dummy prod client using client '000' as a base.
3) imported the table using the syntax above enabling the change of schema
We have now a 14 + million rows in the dummy prod client on the new LPAR
Now on the Dev server
4) Created new client on dev as per point 2
5) SCC9 Remote client copy from the new LPAR using SAP_ALL
6) As I had 9+ million rows in the target client to get rid of I used delete_commit procedure as in metalink note 3777.1
This enable me to delete rows fast without caning the roll back segs.
7) using R3trans and a command file from the command line copied the single table into the target client.
I do not know if this is useful for you because your scenario is slighley different, but this is what I did for a whole table for a particular mandt.
Regards
Mark

Exporting Text data from PHP to Oracle CLOB data (Carriage return - issue)
This is my original text content in PHP - Data type - Longtext

This a test description.This a test description.
This a test description. This a test description.I exported the above content from PHP as a SQL script file (insert into.. ) - export.sql [ insert into table_name (id, text_content) values (1, '') ]
while exporting data from PHP table into export file.. it replaced the "Carriage return" with "\r\n\r\n" in the insert statement for text_content column
When I run this INSERT statement in Oracle (for longtext, I have created a CLOB column in Oracle), the following text_content data is inserted into CLOB column in Oracle.
SECTION - 2
This a test description.This a test description.\r\n\r\nThis a test description.This a
test description.\r\n\r\nThis a test description. This a test description. Now I have created a item named P1_TEXT_CONTENT of type TEXTAREA and try to fetch the CLOB data into this page item.
BUT textarea displays the entire content including "\r\n\r\n" as mentioned in SECTION - 2
I want to display the content in textarea (item - P1_TEXT_CONTENT) without "\r\n\r\n" same as the original content with "Carriage return" as mentioned in SECTION - 1
What are the options we have?
Thanks,

What are the options we have?Run an update on the Oracle table following the inserts to replace the escaped CR/LFs with real ones:
update foo
set clob_column = replace(clob_column, '\r\n', chr(13) || chr(10));You might want to experiment to see which characters are actually necessary. As an OS X/Linux user I'd probably just use a single LF chr(10). -

Exporting CLOB data w/Oracle 8i
Is there a way to export CLOB data from a table to an external
file in a directory of our choice??? Our application
specification is asking us to build this capability but I am
unable to find any way to do this. Any assistance would be
useful. Thanks a million!!
nullOCI really seems like the right way to do this. You know you have to use something like C to interact with the port. And the only Oracle stuff you are doing is an insert. You could even write the insert in a stored proc and call it from OCI. Below is an example of that. You should really give OCI a shot at this. I'm certain you can learn enough of it for this project.

e.g. export dump command for scott schema and all table within scott schema in it no table data should be exported. If I understand the question, it sounds like you just need to add the flag "ROWS=N" to your export command (I assume that you're talking about the old export utility, not the Data Pump version).

Export dump and the Oracle performance
My prod system is 10g r2 on an AIX box with 4 CPU ( oracle only uses two) and 4 G memory. It also installs with a BAAN 5c system. I noticed that when I did the export dump, the Oracle system was slow to other query processes by the BAAN and the message "Memory Notification: Library Cache Object loaded into SGA
Heap size 8356K exceeds notification threshold (2048K)" were shown up in alert log. Although there is a solution in the metalink to avoid the notification, I think it does not solve the problem underneath. Some system maintenance processes also caused that. So How can I track the real cause(s)? Maybe my original configuration need to reconfigure.Oracle was slow because running export is rather resource intensive (lots and lots of I/O). You generally want to avoid generating an export when the system is being actively used. As an aside, I hope that you're not using the export as your primary backup...
The message you're getting (presumably in Enterprise Manager) would appear to be both reasonable and probably not the source of the slowdown. I'm not shocked to learn that BAAN has some objects which are relatively large, running an export brings them into the library cache, which generates the alert. I would expect that you'd have to get that alert in order to do an export, so it may be reasonable to turn it off if this is a regular thing.
