i just now installed oracle 9i IDS on my machine,,forms are running well on the web but reports arent,,during the first run of the reports builder when i ran the report it asked me to choose my web browser,i chose MSIE after that an hour glass appeared for few secs and a dialogue box appeared saying ERROR:Failed to locate the browser
continue searching? (Yes/No) i clicked yes and again the same message appeared this time i selected No,,,after taht i was looking out for some setting or preferences where i can re configure the browser settings i couldnt find any,,can u please tell me where can i find the setting where i can locate my browser?

Pls follow these steps

Oracle Forms IDS on a windows 7 OS

We have had problems with forms since we moved to Vista and have just lived with the crashing as we understood it wasnt certified.
I have recently read some posts where people have fixed this constant crashing in Vista with a patch 7047034 but this says it should be installed on a 10123 IDS.
We have IDS but when i do about it is 101202. Is there a patch to get this up to 10123 as i can not find it?
Also the patch above is for the 10g db which i assume is the infrastructure installed when you install dev suite (which we dont use) but in our case is 904 i think?

First, understand that Win7 is not a supported platform to be used with Forms/Reports 10.1.2.x. So whatever you decide to do, it will be at your own risk.
You can get from 10.1.2.0.2 to 10.1.2.3 by installing patch 5983622. This patch is available in MyOracleSupport (http://support.oracle.com). Information about getting this to work on Vista will be the same for Win7, but again this will not at all be supported by Oracle Support. More info is available in MyOracleSupport note 559067.1

How to merge two Oracle SSO IDs?

As many have noticed, I have 2 SSO ids: 'Hans Forbrich' that I have had for many years; and Hans Forbrich (alt ID) that was created by the OU group for SSO access to OU sites.
I'm wondering how to merge these two IDs while retaining the Oracle University Single Sign On capability.

Have you tried to sign in to OU with the other ID? I
would think that you would be able to since OU uses
SSO as well (it may not have in the past).Oh yes. Does not work.

Oracle 9i iDS (9.0.2.0.1) Core / Non-Core Patches

Hello,
I realise that there are at least 3 patches available out there for Oralce 9i iDS (9.0.2.0.1) running on Windows XP Pro.
I am working with WebForms/WebReports migration project from 6i to 9i and running into all sort of errors. I get the feeling that many of my problems are already addressed by some Patches out there.
I am aware of the followin patches:
PatchSet 1: 2705870
PatchSet 2: 2842923
PatchSet 3: 3129219 (Non-Core PatchSet, PreRequisite Patch: 3038037)
I tried to apply PatchSet 3 directly without applying PatchSet1 / 2 not the Prerequisite Patch 3038037.
1) Can I apply the prerequisite patch 3038037 after Patchset 3 3129219 ?

PS: I heard that Oracle was suppose to come out with PatchSet 4 earlier this year in January. Any word on that ? the patchset number ?

I have solved this problem.
When I run the patch setup.exe again, I should select Destination Name: OraHome92 rather than the Developer Suite's Oracle Home "Ora9iDS".
The patch installation is successfully completed.
I have also installed Designer Repository on a remote Oracle9i Release 1 Database server. Can I applied this patch from another machine and remote logon to the database server and perform the patch installation?
Or I have to install the Patch on the Oracle9i Release 1 Database Server resided in a Windows 2000 Server.

Oracle Jdeveloper(iDS) Installation on NT 4 Service Pack 6a

Has anyone experienced problems installing Oracle9iDS(Jdeveloper) on an NT 4.0 platform? I have tried everything but the install just does not work. Even had to download Java JRE 1.3.1_05 from Sun's Website but to no avail. What is the problem with Oracle? Tried three different NT servers but still will not work. Even used the Dos Command prompt but nought! Meanwhile have set the Classpath and Path under WindowsNT Control panel to point to the javasoft\JRE\bin and logged in as Administrator with Admin previleges but still zero..Can anyone help? As all i need is just a Java SDK/JRE 1.3 on a server to facilitate the Install of e-Business Suite Financials 11i. I wonder if the Rapid Install Wizard on that will even work...Any help will be much apprecited.

This is bug 1507768. Info on it can be found at MetaLink. There are two workarounds
A.
1. Obtain patch number 1507768 from Metalink
2. unzip the patch
3. unjar the contents
4. Go to the directory
\cd\Disk1\stage\Components\oracle.swd.jre\1.1.7.30/1\DataFiles\Expan

rename symcjit.dll to symcjit.dll.ori
5. Invoke OUI and install OUI to disk

Cannot download Oracle 10g IDS (9.0.4)

I try to download oracle internet developer suite 10g (9.0.4) but I get only 25.57 KB downloaded. This effect do i have on both files.
Is there a problem on your site, or what is going wrong?

Oracle IDS Version problem (IDS is not compatible )

Please address my technical query mentioned below.
We are facing problems while porting/deploying our application on the Oracle 10g application server.
The application server version is 10g R-2 (64bit)(10.1.2.0.2), the IDS version is 10g (9.0.4) and OS is HP-UX 11.23.
Earlier when I tried doing the IDS installation, the pre-installation check failed saying that the OS is not supported, the supported OS version for IDS 10g-9.0.4 was HP-UX 11.00 & 11.11. I then bypassed the pre-installation check using the -sysPreRequisite option of the runInstaller same and the installation succeeded.
The forms even got compiled but when I tried to execute the forms from the browser, it throws the error message number FRM-40011, which says that the form was created by an older version of the form builder.
This was the problem we have been facing since the start even when we have done installtion on other site, and even though we had installed the application server and the IDS afresh, the same problem persists. The only thing I can conclude from the above is that the IDS is not compatible with the current version of the OS/Application server and we need to upgrade to IDS 10g so that it works on HP-UX 11.23, with Oracle Application Server 10g R-2(10.1.2.0.2).
Kindly provide your technical support in the above matter and supply us the correct version of the Oracle 10g IDS.

Oracle Application Server 10g Rel 3 and forms Application Deployment

I am in process of installing Oracle AS 10g rel 3. and I have an application (ERP) devloped in Oracle 10g IDS (Devloper Suite). So when I read the installation Doc for Oracle 10g rel3 installation I didn't get any information regarding the forms-reports component.
So can somone please tell me how I can deploy my IDS based application in Oracle 10g Rel 3 Application Server. Or if there is any other process to deploy the application in application Server.

How much pain does registering two Oracle Testing Id Cause to everyone?

Reading the forum over the last 8 months or so seems apparent to me that if a candidate has two (or more!) Oracle Testing Id's and takes exams under both then problems will result as certifications will not be generated untill all pre-requisite passes are under the same Oracle Testing Id. (For those having taken exams under Prometric their Oracle Testing Id has been set to their old Prometric Id.)
the pain this caused in the old Prometric days is mentioned on the Oracle Certification Blogs Here [http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/2008/09/one_plus_one_zero_when_it_come.html] (dont follow the procedure there .. its out of date).
The procedure for sorting this still remains a merge, however now through Pearson VUE. The procedure is not directly on Support FAQs [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=82#5Q1A] though would indirectly be covered by (I have not received my success kit what do I do?). The procedure required is however authoratively mentioned at {message:id=3923313}. However as can be seen in the rest of the thread {thread:id=991553} there appears to be occasions when some Pearson Personnel VUE appear to not realise they are responsible for initiating the merge and sometimes the merge man may be on holiday (or maybe off on stress through the number of merge's perhaps?)
Thus the candidate with two Oracle Testing Id's has a possibility (maybe even likelihood) of pain further down the line in getting it sorted. But as far as I am aware it is usually sorted ... though it may take a while. Pain to Candidate.
Oracle and Pearson VUE have pain through this as well. There is a support cost dealing with the Oracle Testing Id Merge. Not just in authenticating and performing the merge but also when the query comes as a problem but the root cause is found to be multiple Oracle Testing Ids. While this does give support teams an opportunity to perform the net effect is increased costs for Oracle/Pearson VUE - which means reduced profits or perhaps more likely increased exam costs for everyone - in other words a pain for everyone.
Basically no one wins on this.
Why does it happen? I'll exclude why people have had multiple Prometric Id's (Oracle Testing Id's) for exams taken under Prometric. What was done under Prometric has been done.
However under Pearson VUE why might this happen?

This is a blatant mistruth. I suspect some people may rush to get regsitered and take the exam and or care about the registration details; or are happy for it to be sorted afterwards rather than getting the Oracle Testing Id. Sorted now.
HOWEVER:
- There needs to be a further email just in case they has the wrong button selected by mistake, so after registering the fact there has been no oracle testing needs to be confirmed. I believe, because of form design, there may be a signifcant chance of this happening.
- There also needs to be indications that if two Pearson VUE Oracle Accounts have been created then subsequently different exams have been passed on each then merging will incur a cost. This is just slopiness by the registrant.
If the people answer yes; but make a mistake in the Oracle Testing Id, they hopefully that would be picked up.
IF people answer yes, but leave the Oracle Testing Id blank, hopefully Pearson is on top of getting it sorted and not let the issue propogate. The effects of leaving this blank as unclear to me, and I hope good procedures are in place for handling it.
There is also IMHO a big issue here that it is not obvious from this page that canididates should enter their old Prometic Testing Id here.

In summary I believe people having mulitple Oracle Testing Id's hurts us all, and to prevent this I would suggest a charge for merge where a candidate have incorrectly siad they have not done Oracle Testing before and where they have a had clear chance to correct this in the event the relevant form radio button has flipped without them noticing.
But I also believe Pearson VUE could probably do a couple of minor changes to procedures, pages and boilerplates to reduce the chances of problems occuring. I think some problems could be stopped before they start.

(1) Any pages referenced are by myself from UK at time of post. Sometimes from other countries they can be different

I'd just like to add to this that one poster {message:id=4029960} appears not to have given a Oracle Testing ID when registering with Pearson VUE and that Pearson VUE appears to have located it for him. I assume he indicated he had tested previously and presumably his profile details matched those held by Oracle from Prometric. This appears to be a single (unverified) instance of this working correctly; and the candidate not ending up with multiple Oracle Testing Ids'.

it's documentation only tells you about the api and the packages and nothing about how to configure it.
how do i get started? where do i unzip those files and what to do next?

Thin-style sid name syntax has a colon between the port and the sid; thin-style service name syntax has a forward slash between the port and the service name. SIDs and service names are not the same thing, although they serve the same purpose in a URL (connecting you to the right instance) and often have the same value. However, a SID for a database is set at DB creation time, is unique to the DB, and cannot be changed easily. Multiple service names can be configured for a database, and they can easily be changed (if you're the DBA). Oracle is providing an additional leval of abstraction by moving to service names, to support additional features and choices. While many installations don't need all that and have in essence ignored the distinction bewteen SID and service name, some multi-database projects can benefit from it.

Plug-in problem while running Oracle Forms

I hve oracle 10g iDS r2 in place on Linux AS u2.
Every thing is being configured and prforming fine.
But when i try to run any form with mozilla browser on the same mechine it cannot display ...
It gives like ...

Even if I click to download, it cannot download any thing .
But the same forms do run as desired on any other windows client with IE browser.

SAP is not coming up after system refresh with Export/Import option

Please check the logs it is clrerly mentioned thet your sapsystem is not able to connect to database.

run these commands:
brconnect -u / -c -l E -f chpass -o SAPSR3 -password whatever_you_want
sqlplus /nolog @sapdba_role.sql SID NT
Also check the parameter DBS_ORA_SCHEMA is set to SAPSR3.
