Oracle 9i - Java Runtime Environment not found
I am trying to install Oracle 9i (9.2.0.1) for S/390 Linux on a SLES 9 SP 3 system. When I try to execute runInstaller, I receive the following error message:
The Java Runtime Environment was not found at IBMJava2-s390-131/jre/bin/java. (text omitted) and install JRE 1.3.1 or higher and try again.
The version of Java installed with SLES 9 SP 3 is IBMJava2 1.4.2.
The JAVA_HOME, JAVA_ROOT, JDK_HOME and JRE_HOME variables are all set to 'link' to IBMJava2-1.4, which itself is a 'link' to the IBMJava2-1.4.2 directory.
Is the Oracle runInstaller message telling me that it wants IBMJava2 -1.3.1, even though is says to install 1.3.1 or higher?
Thanks,
Dave
Is the Oracle runInstaller message telling me that it wants IBMJava2 -1.3.1, even though is says to install 1.3.1 or higher?Yeah, it has been known to act a bit funny on newer releases of JRE.

Oracle 9i on XP Pro error: Java Runtime Environment not Found
I run the universal installer and get this message: Java Runtime Environment not found at c:/doc...blah blah blah...local settings/temp/OraInstall/jre/bin/jrew.exe
I've installed Java 1.4 more than once with success, but the universal installer keeps trying to locate jrew.exe at the above location (which doesn't exist in the temp directory)
Q: why does it look here and/or how can I fix it?
Thanks in advance,
-BrentFor windows installations you are not in need to install Java prior to installing Oracle , remove all Java installed , clean registry and environment variables , restart machine then start reinstallation

Java Runtime Environment not found
I have downloaded Oracle 9i into 3 dirs named disk1, disk2 & disk3. When I try to run setup.exe from disk1 I get error msg saying "The Java RunTime Environment was not found at C:TEMP\OralInstall2002-10-25time\jre\bin\javaw.exe. Hence the Oracle Universal Installer cannot be run. Please visit http://www.javasoft.com and install JRE version 1.3.1 or higher and try again."
I have installed 1.4.1 and it didn't work so I uninstalled it and installed 1.3.1 but I still get the same error. Does anyone know what's going on here?Hi,
I have found the solution to the problem.(at least in my case). My WinZip version was older because of which the unzipping of zip file was resulting in all the files being unzipped in one folder i.e. when I unzipped the first zip file in directory Disk1, then no sub-directories were created by WinZip while unzipping. Everything was dumped in Disk1 directory. I installed the new version of WinZip(8.0) and then uninstalled disk1.zip and it worked reallly well and I was able to install Oracle prefectly.
Check out if you are also facing the same problem. To confirm, when you unzip the first zip file(92010NT_Disk1.zip) then in Disk1 there should be 10 new sub-directories will be created and main Disk1 directory will contain just 4 files apart from these sub-directories (including setup.exe).
Thanks.

BIP Desktop installation "java runtime environment not installed"
I keep getting the "java runtime environment not installed" error when I try to install BIP desktop.
I have JRE both as part of the BIP Enterprise Edition install and also because I installed (and reinstalled) SUN Java SDK.
Any help would be appreciated.I reinstalled JDK with the JRE. That seemed to do the trick.

I am getting this error whenever I try to start the oc4j server using jdev

And thus I am unable to start the server.
The strange thing is that other people working on the same project don't get this error on their machines.I tried deleting system folder, restarting jdev, restarting my system and even tried to run a new page in a new view and new transaction
However, nothing worked out as I am still getting the same error.
The complete log is given below for reference.

At least with servlets and JSP this works just fine - (but you are still right, it's the wrong forum).

Hi all,
I AM TRYING TO INSTALL THE ECC 6.0 ON HPUX AND WHILE STARTING SAPINST GETTING THIS ERROR:
The SAPinst GUI could not be started because a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) could not be found.
Either the JRE is not installed correctly or the environment variable SAPINST_JRE_HOME is not set to the JRE installation home.
Be aware the SAPinst server is still running! You need to start SAPinst GUI standalone on this or another host as described in the installation guide.

Please helpCan you do a
java -version
as root?
Did you install the Java runtime from http://www.hp.com/go/java for your platform?

I am asked to install this update by an educational website.
The sequence of events is:
1. Message appears at interactive site on page "A plugin is needed to display this content." along with an Install Plugin button.
2.Pressing the install button brings up a dialogue box, "Plugin Finder Service" with "Java Runtime Environment" ticked.
3. I press "Next" to install. New dialogue box comes up showing "Java Runtime Environment" as "Not available" and states that no plugins were installed.
4. The only availablre option "finish," closes the dialogue box.
I have tried following instructions in help but these always bring me back to the same process. I have downloaded the most recent Java software and nothing has changed.
Any ideas to successfully install "Java Runtime Environment." Maybe there's a successor plug-in.

Java Runtime Environment Error - Note Pads On Desktop
I have gotten three note pads on my desktop last week time: Wed Apr 29 08:32:02 2009, time: Thu Apr 30 08:42:51 2009, Sat May 02 09:43:38 2009.
I am wondering why I got three note pads on my desktop telling me about Java Runtime Environment Error.
Is this how Java Runtime Environment Error lets you know there is a problem. When a window pops up saying there is a Java Runtime Environment Error problem I normally send it.
Nothing every happens when I send Java Runtime Environment Error. How can this problem be fixed.
And why am getting Java Runtime Environment Error on my desktop. The second & third Java Runtime Environment Error cant fit in this post because of Maximum allowed is 7500 only. And I had to remove the bootom part of the first Java Runtime Environment Error just to make it fit.
If you need me to I could Post the other two Java Runtime Environment Error.
Here is the first Java Runtime Environment Error with time: Wed Apr 29 08:32:02 2009

Fatal Error (Java Runtime Environment) starting Install of Oracle WebLogic Server
Hello,
I am installing Oracle Fusion on OEL 6 and have hit a problem with weblogic. This worked for me on my TEST server a few months ago.
I have also successfully installed the "Install Repository Creation Utility (RCU)"
I am unable to launch Weblogic and discoverer_11gR1_ofm's runInstallers. The both give me the same error.
I am now at the step of installing the WLS 10.3.6 as follows:

HT1338 The Java Runtime Environment cannot be found.
The Java Runtime Environment cannot be found. installing a dlink security camera
Okay, so I had the same problem with my dLink cameras after following the links on mydLink.com.
Apparently using the download of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) from the Java site creates a problem. Given a choice, don't do it that way, but if you've already downloaded it and installed it (which I did on two of my three Macs) there's a solution.
If you haven't downloaded JRE as directed by dLink, then go to Spotlight and search for Java. You'll find Java Preferences. When you run it, you will be asked if you want to download JRE. Say yes and then make sure the enable applet box is checked. myDLink.com should run fine and you will see your camera or cameras. Works great.
If you already downloaded JRE from the Java site as directed by the DLink site, you have to do a little work to get rid to do the reinstall.
In file manager, go to the HD drive. Click on System, then Library, then Java. Delete the three folders from the Java folder. .
Then reinstalled MAC OSX You do this by restarting the system and holding the command key and the r key down as the computer restarts. You can let go of the keys when the gray apple appears. Work your way through and just reinstall the operating system. All of your files will be fine - just like installing the new version of OSX from the App Store. (Good idea to backup your computer first with Time Machine or whatever you use.)
After reinstalling, which takes about an hour, go to Spotlight and search for Java. You'll find Java Preferences. When you run it, you will be asked if you want to download JRE. Say yes and then make sure the enable applet box is checked.
Apple Care was great in helping me through the problem. The first technical support guy couldn't find the solution, so he turned me over to more senior person who figured out the fix.
good luck.
