Oracle 9i lite connection with a Java Client

Hi,
I would like to connect a Java Client developed using PersonalJava edition for PDA with an Oracle 9i lite version which is also on PDA.
I would like to know is it possible to connect such a client (Java) using some JDBC drivers on PDA.
if yes please do suggest a suitable driver and some input tips as to how to connect a GUI developed in Java directly to Oracle on PDA.
I am not too sure whether some web/application server is required in the whole setup.
because in N-Tier Architecture we have a middle layer of Application /Web servers in between a client screen(usually a Browser) and Database.
but I am not aware weather it is possible to directly connect Java Swing or Client application as I mentioned above developed using Personal edition with a database using only some driver software but no other middle ware component in between.i.e forming a 2 tier client server model.
please do let me know your valuable suggestions at [email protected]
thanks,
Ashish

I connect to the database through the same user that created those tables. Do I still need a public synonym ?

  • Can we run oracle Forms 5 Application with 10G in Client/Server?

    Hi All,
Can we run oracle Forms 5 Application with 10G in Client/Server
    Mode?
    Regards
    Gaurav

In theory you can run it 2 tier - which means that you have the client (the machine the user is sitting at) being the same machine in which the forms application server is running. So yes. But specifically, we don't support a client server runtime anymore. 6i was the last version.
With 10g you will be running through a browser.

  • JDBC Thin Connections with SSL and client certificates

    Hi ,
we are going have a look at JDBC Thin Connections with SSL and client certificates.
    I have two questions:
    1. Is it possible to use SSL connections from JDBC Thin Driver and which release of the driver introduced it
    2. Is it possible to use client certificates with JDBC Thin Driver and which release of the driver introduced it
    Thanks for your help
    regards
    Markus Reichert

I could not reproduce the error after appending the SSL certificate to the certdb.txt file available under $Jinitiator_Home/lib/security folder.
Steps to add the SSL Certificate:
    1. Run the form with the https mode in the IE Browser.
    2. Security Alert is raised.
    3. Click on the View Certificate button.
    4. In the Certificate Window, click on the Details tab.
    5. Click on the Copy to File button to copy the certificate.
    6. Copy the certificate and append to the certdb.txt file.

Issue - ipad connecting with vmware view client v5.1. "any way to disable or hide the vmware view's radial virtual keyboard mouse interface" either in vmware view client settings, hidden cmds, or ipad system settings.
My client is using an external blue tooth ipad metal cover type keyboard and does not wish to have the radial keyboard / mouse visable or floating on desktop when connecting to vm with iPad using vmware view client v5.1.
i was unable to locate any settings or related toggle key/function combo keystrokes under iPad settings under vmware view client, to affect viewability of the radial keyboard/mouse. And can you kill it from service/process on vm instead of ipad? then dont allow service to restart at startup? What is the name of services that enable the radial virtual keyboard mouse - function to work?
Thanks for any and all feedback-

I'm having a very similar issue. Sometimes, when I boot and type in startx (I'm not even a GNOME user--I use dwm and no graphical login manager), I just get a black screen. No mouse cursor, so I think X doesn't even load. It only started with the xserver 1.6 update and the update to that hasn't changed anything. What I've been doing is just rebooting until it loads normally (takes one to three times). Is anyone else having this problem?

    Hi Joe;
I appreciate you taking time to answer my question.
By client do you mean my JRE? I one JRE set in my JAVA_HOME, and two in the weblogic install. How can I tell which is WebLogic using? So, you are basically saying make sure my Oracle JDBC drivers wherever they are in WebLogic should match what I have in my JRE?
I'll give that a shot when I get into work tomorrow.
I am puzzled because it has been working fine for weeks and I haven't changed anything.

  • Oracle 9i lite application development using java

    hi all,
I want to develop a applcation which interacts with the 9i lite database in java.Is there any emulator which will help me in developing this on a windows 2000 machine or winnt machine?
i tried developing it in eVB but the emulator which come along with it does not support the 'oladoce' object..
please if anybody has done something on this please help .. this is very urgent..
    thanks ..,
    sreekanth sreedharan

Oracle 9i Lite is a multi-platform product and you need to specific the target OS for the database and the version of java.
If you are planning to run your application in Win2000 you will have no problem using Oracle 9i Lite with the supplied
jdbc drivers and any java development environment for J2SE. What you get is a laptop platform that works while not
    connected to the Internet
If you are trying to using Oracle 9i Lite on the Palm with J2ME development on windows, it works fine with the Palm Emulator
but I am not sure that the jdbc drivers are available for J2ME yet and I have not used them as I have for J2SE on windows
I am also very interested in developing java applications for the palm using Oracle 9i Lite and I would appreciate feedback
on the jdbc and other required sql extensions for the sun java cldc
If you are talking about the PocketPC or other WinCE, I cannot help you but I have used Personal Java on WinCE but not yet
attempted Oracle 9i Lite on those platforms

I tried my Java Client program with rmi approach.
    In my program
    java.net.URL url = ClassLoader.getSystemResource("context.properties");
return null for url, and the program stopped at
    props.load(url.openStream());
Should I define the system properties somewhere before I run the client program, so that the url would not be null?

  • Oracle 8i Lite connection problem

I'm trying to make connection with Oracle 8i Lite native jdbc driver. I'm getting error "Unable to find driver oracle.lite.poljdbc.POLJDBCDriver" when pressing Test button.
olite40.jar is in IDEClassPath in jdeveloper.ini and Oracle 8i Lite is in Default Project Libraries.
    What I've missed?

If you have added the Olite40.jar file to the IDE_CLASSPATH setting in the jdeveloper.ini file, make sure you restarted JDeveloper after editing the ini file.
Also, make sure you specity 'Olite40.jar' not 'olite40.jar' (watch the case of the archive file name).

  • JDeveloper - Oracle 8i Lite Connection Problem

I am trying to connect to Oracle 8i Lite database on my local machine (NT as the OS) from JDeveloper 3.1.1.2, I am getting "Network adapter could not establish connection" error. I can not even do Net8 Easy Config as I have no idea what the SID name is as 8i Lite installation did not ask for any SID name and it just created the polite databse (which works fine from ODBC).
What is the default SID name for 8i Lite ?
How to fix this probelm. Any help is greatly appreciated. VR.

There is some more work you need to do to make JDeveloper work with Oracle Lite. Details are in an earlier response to a similar problem:

I am trying to use jsp to develop my homepage and it can be connect with my oracle to retreive information. I'm wondering what steps/configure I need to do?
Could anyone tell me about this? Thanks

    Amy,
You can look at [url http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/tech/java/jsps/ojsp/dbaccessjdbc.html]this sample. It provides step by step explanation on how to connect to database using JDBC from a JSP. We use Java Beans in the sample. Download the code and have a look at it.
    Hope this helps.

Hi I am using windows 2008 r2 enterprise server. Actually I have downgraded 2012 licence to 2008.
I have configured it for PEAP-MSCHAPV2 using NPS and active directory. But windows xp wireless client is unable to connect with PEAP or TLS.
I got the log as "unable to process the eap type".
Is there any issue with the certificates or configuration?
Please assist me about the configuration of windows 2008 r2 enterprise server for TLS and PEAP-MSCHAPv2 and configuration of windows xp wireless client so that the connection is successful.
Assist me on how to configure certificates in server and client side.
    Thank u in advance

    Hi,
Have you installed the certificate on the client computer? If you designate a certificate that is not installed on client computers, authentication will fail. For more detailed information about EAP, you can view the link blow.

  • Oracle 8i lite, iconnect with epoc

Does anyone know if oracle 8i lite will e able to use iconnect to an epoc os platform on a pda?

I'm having alot of problems trying to connect to an Oracle 8i database from my handheld Windows CE Platform. Below is the code that I am using in eVB. I can't find any support for the name of a provider. The provider that I have listed here is the normal ADO provider for oracle, but I have no idea which provider to use for the CE system. If anyone could help me out, please post your responses here. Thanks!
I did try to use the free download of ViaDB from Odyssey Software and they don't support the H/PC Pro. This is why I need to find an alternative to connecting to the Oracle8i database from my WindowsCE Device.
I'll probably end up calling Oracle because they do support ADOCE. see here
    Dim adoConn As ADOCE.Connection
    Dim adoRst As ADOCE.Recordset
    Dim mstrSQL as String
    Set adoConn = CreateObject("ADOCE.Connection.3.1")
    adoConn.Open("Provider=msdaora;" & _
    "Data Source=MyOracleDB;" & _
    "User Id=myUsername;" & _
    "Password=myPassword;"
mstrSQL = "SELECT * FROM myTable"
    Set adoRst = CreateObject("ADOCE.Recordset.3.1")
    Call adoRst.Open(mstrSQL, adoConn, adOpenDynamic, adLockOptimistic)
