Oracle BI EE "complex" model problem

Problem - we have 3 tables (star schema) - Sales_fact, Customer and Product - Sales_fact are divided by organizations and contains sales to organization external customers and sales between organisations. In Customer (divided by organization code) table exists column (0/1 values) that's tell us if customer is internal (intersales) or external. We need
to create a model which always show only external sales, however we can't build logical join between customer and sales_fact with additional condition on customer flag ( customer.customerid=sales_fact.customerid and customer.external=1). We can filter Customer table by this column but we gets bad values when user take analysis only on Article and Sales_fact table
Can anyone help us ??

Try putting a security filter on the user or group that adds the customer.external=1 condition to every query against the Sales_fact table. You might want to have two security groups, external and internal or external and everyone.

  • Is Oracle BPM for only modeling process?

    Hi
Is Oracle BPM only for Business process modeling? I know there is a PAPI java library to implement User Interface.
But i geuss it takes a lot of Time. We are planning to use Oracle BPM process and Stuts for front end.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Oracle BPM is similar to a pure-play process modeling tool in that it supports process modeling, documentation and simulation.
Here's where Oracle BPM and process modeling tools differ. Oracle BPM was built and architected from the beginning as a full lifecycle Business Process Management (BPM) tool. This means that it is a complete solution with modeling, logic / business rules, end user interface, runtime and BAM capabilities built into it from the beginning 10 years ago.
Go here http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13154_01/bpm/docs65/index.html and click on "Oracle BPM data-sheet" for a marketing take on it's capabilities. If you'd like a 3 hour hands-on tour through it, click on the "Oracle BPM Tutorial for new users" link. If you do the tutorial, be sure to ping this forum if you get confused - we'll be glad to help.
Undoubtedly, there's more than you wanted to know in this thread. At a minimum, take a look at the "End User Interface" paragraph below for my take on your Struts question. The nice thing about the forum is that others are sure to disagree with my recommendation and you'll get the benefit from their experience as well.
    Modeling
Oracle BPM was built with one process modeling diagram. It is simple, BPMN based and quick to learn. It supports the roles and the activities I need to build robust processes. I use the same diagram to explain the process to executives, managers, IT, SME and business analysts. As a business analyst, the tool is not complicated and can be learned in just a couple hours. As a developer, I use the same modeling diagram, but the tool profile I use is a robust IDE that lets me create the implementation details (objects, logic, integration to services and local testing). If I make a change as a developer, the business analyst can see the change if they look at the same process artifact (typically shared through a source control repository).
    Logic and Integration
Process modeling tools are not BPM tools so they are not intended to support the process logic or integration to your existing IT assets needed to execute a business process.
Oracle BPM can use a service bus as the intermediary layer to expose existing IT assets. Alternatively, Oracle BPM can expose and consume components directly if you do not have a service bus. These IT assets are stored in Oracle BPM's catalog for reuse by developers creating the logic needed inside Oracle BPM automated processes.
As a developer using Oracle BPM, I use templates and drag and drop to create much of my logic. Once I catalog an object it can be reused across multiple projects either by using the Project Dependency option or by importing the artifacts. I test my logic either by using the method editor debugger or at the process level. As I create objects used in my logic using Oracle BPM, I inherit attributes provided by introspected components. This means that if you have an ERP system object with 138 attributes, you do not have to rebuild this object from scratch in Oracle BPM.

    End User Interface
Before deciding to create your own Struts based UI, examine the capabilities of the OOTB Oracle BPM Workspace. Others on this forum will disagree with this, but rebuilding the functionality of the Oracle BPM Workspace will take quite a bit of time and will require an in-depth knowledge of PAPI (Oracle BPM's API into the runtime Engine) knowledge.
End user interface screens and complex end user interaction with a variety of screens can be built inside the Oracle BPM toolset's WYSIWYG editor. The forms use the attributes of the objects described in the previous paragraph. There's a common misconception that you cannot have both client side and server side components invoked from the UI. This is simply not the case. You can use both client side and server side components to do cross field validation or provide lists for valid values.
If you'd been are a JSP shop you'd have had the flexibility to instead create your forms using the Oracle BPM tag library instead of the forms editor provided.
Since you're a Struts shop, your presentations will be exposed as "External" using Interactive activity Screenflows.
The forms you build are automatically presented in the OOTB Workspace.
    Runtime
End users interact with the processes at runtime using an OOTB Workspace. End users are given various roles. When they log into the Workspace, the end users only see the work item instances that are in the roles that they have been assigned. There is an Engine that stores the work item instance information as it flows through the processes at runtime. The Engine is like a traffic cop, ensuring that the right work item instance goes to the right person in the right activity at the right time.
    Hope this helps,
    Dan

  • Oracle.adf.view.faces.model classes and serializable

Some (most?) classes in oracle.adf.view.faces.model - e.g., ChildPropertyTreeModel - are not serializable. If these objects are given the "session" scope, this causes problems. For instance, in a clustered environment with failover/load-balancing, session attributes must be serialized to be replicated to all cluster members. Adding one of these object to the session causes the serialization - and therefore the replication - process to fail. Does anybody know why these classes are not marked as serializable?

  • Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler start up error

    Hi All,
I just downloaded Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler (2.0.0.57.0) [Released 1 July 2009] by selecting the option "Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler for Windows (This zip file includes the JRE)"
After I installed the same and tried to run it by clicking datamodeler.exe, I get the following error message
"unable to create an instance of the Java virtual machine located at path:..\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll"
On the same machine I can successfuly run the Oracle SQL Develper with no errors. My machine is having Windows XP Professional SP3.
Any ideas? If there was a problem with Java, than the Oracle SQL Developer should also not run. But as stated it runs with out any error but the Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler gives the above error.
    Regards,
    JAA149

1 - The above problem has nothing to do with the memmory. I tried on a 400 MB RAM, 900 MB RAM, 1.5 MB RAM & 2 MB RAM with the same arror.
"unable to create an instance of the Java virtual machine located at path:..\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll"
    http://i30.tinypic.com/9vkwf6.jpg
    2 - There are two "datamodeler.exe: files
    One is at D:\datamodeler\datamodeler.exe
    2nd is at D:\datamodeler\bin\datamodeler.exe
The same error occurs with both the files.
3 - The Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler version is "Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler (2.0.0.57.0) [Released 1 July 2009]" and the file I downloaded is "Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler for Windows (This zip file includes the JRE) - (57M)"
    If I look in "D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\README.txt" I find
"Java(TM) Platform, Standard Edition Runtime Environment Version 6"
    If I run "D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\javacpl.exe" I get
    http://i30.tinypic.com/mt8ocn.jpg
    If I run "D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\jureg.exe" I get
    http://i28.tinypic.com/30boiyo.jpg
If i check at the control panle add/remove program
    http://i30.tinypic.com/1428tba.jpg
If I go to "http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp" and download "jre-6u16-windows-i586-s.exe" and run it.
If I go to "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6" I find the same files as in "D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre"
I am able to run Oracle SQL Developer with out any kind of error let alone the above one. But with Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler I get the above mentioned error no matter what I try.
As the error states "unable to create an instance of the Java virtual machine located at path:..\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll". The file "jvm.dll" is located at two places. One at "D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll" and the second at "D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\server\jvm.dll"
A similiar problem occurs with JDeveloper with the fllowing solution
    http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=506339&start=0&tstart=0
    Which states the following
    "hello!
in the problem with JDeveloper i have a solution. The jdk have a file jvm.dll in the path: jdk/jre/bin/client/jvm.dll this is the problem ... now in the path:jdk/jre/bin/client/ojvm has a file with the same name if you copy and paste this file to the another path, now its works fine your Jdeveloper.
Jdeveloper use two files to jvm.dll to work one in the folder /client and other in /server copy the same file to the two locations for precaution
    for me work fine thanks..."
I tried to do the same (Copy from client folder to server folder)
    D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll
    COPIED THIS FILE TO
    D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\server\jvm.dll
Nada. So I reversed it (copied from server folder to client folder)
    D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\server\jvm.dll
    COPIED THIS FILE TO
    D:\datamodeler\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll
Does not work. So I tried another solution stated at the same forum entry
    "Well,
i solved the problem by this way :
    <SQLDEVELOPER>/jdev/bin/ide.conf
In this file, change this line :
    AddVMOption -Xmx512M
    by
    AddVMOption -Xmx256M
Now, the executable is lauching correctly. No more errors with Java Virtual Machine.
But is it a good thing to solve it like that ?"
But the ide.conf file is only at "D:\sqldeveloper\ide\bin\ide.conf" which is for the SQL Developer and not the SQl Developer Data Modeler
Correct me if I am wrong but
JRE = Java Run Time Envoirment
    JDK = Java Development Kit
And Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler needs JRE and not JDK. In any case I download JDK
jdk-6u14-javafx-1_2-windows-i586.exe (121,306 KB) and installed it but no succcess.
I tried every thing except completely re-install my whole PC.
Any help will be much appreciated.
    Cordially,
    Jawad

  • Filling Complex Model

    Hi There,
I have a problem with the Model-handling in WD. I have
a deep Model generated from a Web Service with a lot of Subnodes like the follwing example:
    WebService (root node)
    WebService - Booking (card: 0...1)
    WebService - Booking - pointOfSale (card: 0...1)
    WebService - Booking - travelers (card: 0...n)
and a lot of Attributes in every node. These
nodes are the INPUT-parameters for the web service.
I initialize the Model with the follwing Code:
    WebService req = new WebService()
    wdContext.nodeWebService.bind(req);
How do i have to fill these nodes with data? I tried to
map InputFields with the model attributes, but the
model does not store the data /the input fields are in "readOnly"-Modus and grey. Even if I try to fill the
Context-Model "manual" (e.g.  nodeTravelers.addTravelerElement(...)) the values does not reach the web service.
Where can i find a example for handling complex model structures ?
    Thanks a lot...
    Claus

    Hi Betram,
thank you for your tip. I tried it the following way
in the Init-Method of the View:
    //Create Model
    ComplexType_pointOfSale pos = new ComplexType_pointOfSale();
    pos.setAgencyKey("12345");
    ComplexType_Booking booking = new ComplexType_Booking();
    booking.setPointOfSale(pos);
    //Binding the model to context
    WebService req = new WebService();
    wdContext.nodeWebService.bind(req);
A InputField is mapped to the AgencyKey-Attribut,
but is empty after i startet the application.
    Any idea ?
Thanks a lot for your answer,
    Claus

  • Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler 3.0 Bugs, Resolution and workarounds

The purpose of this thread is to list bugs discovered while using ORACLE SQL Developer Data Modeler 3.0
Mainly with SQL SERVER 2005 and ORACLE 10g models.

SQL Server Physical model doesn't save table identity column.
here are the steps to get this bug:
    1. create a table in relational model with a column as an integer to be used as an identity.
    2. create or open a physical model for SQL-SERVER 2005
    3. open the table in the physical model
    4. edit the integer column property dialog
    5. tick the identity check box and close the property dialog
    6. save the model and close it
    7. open it again, you will find the identity check is removed! (probably not saved from the start)

  • Oracle Packaged Application "Google Map" - Problem Found

To Oracle Webmaster and Support Team,

The "Google Map" Application Preview (http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=34481:1:4401939335008683) has some issues.
After entering an address and click the button "Get Geocode", the following error message display: "ORA-29273: HTTP request failed ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_HTTP", line 1577 ORA-24247: network access denied by access control list (ACL)" (Error Calling Geocode Service).
I apologize if this is the incorrect place to post this message, I cannot find any other place to post this issue to Oracle.
    Thanks.
    JT

    JT,
On the Oracle hosted web site, that 'problem' will never be fixed, mainly because to fix it, it could allow a whole series of approaches for their system to be 'hacked'.
In short, for Oracle to allow that access on their server, for anybody to execute, would be a huge security problem. On your own site, then you can limit which users/schema would have that privilege, so it's not as big of a secuirty threat on your site. Though, that also doesn't mean nobody on your site could inadvertently grant the permission and open your site up to potential attacks, but that's a completely different problem.

  • Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler Versus SQL Developer

    Friends,
I'm trying to understand the differences between Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler and the ability to use the Data Modeler in SQL Developer.
I've looked at both products home pages on OTN, http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/datamodeler/index.html & http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/sql_developer/index.html and would appreciate your comments on my findings so far
    1) The Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler is a stand-a-lone chargeable product whereas the use of the Data Modeler functionality of SQL Developer is free
    2) The Data Modeler functionality within SQL Developer is basically a "viewer" I can create ERD's of my existing tables by dragging them into the modeler from the object navigator but that's about it. I can't save the diagram for later use or use it to change the structure of the table(s)
    3) If I need to have "Oracle Designer" like ERD capabilities then I need to use Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler (after purchase!)
    4) Are there any other differences I have missed?
    Thanks in advance

You can open any diagram created in the stand-alone product in the SQL Developer Data Modeler Viewer and navigate through all property dialogs and the full navigator, just like you can in the stand-alone product, but with no update capabilities. This allows developers to fully review the model and all properties, without making changes.

  • Oracle External Table SELECT FROM problem from workstation

At Solaris Oracle database server console.
Created directory on the Solaris server as Oracle owner.
As SYS created oracle directory object on that Solaris directory
Granted read/write to SCHEMA_OWNER on that oracle directory object.
Using OS Oracle user, moved a tab-delimited flat file into the Solaris directory.
Logged on a SCHEMA_OWNER using SQLPLUS on the Solaris database server.
Ran external table script in SQLPLUS.
    External table was created.
    Ran Select * from ext_table.
    Appropriate dataset returned.
So at the Oracle Solaris server console,
the create external table script worked without errors,
and a select from statement on the external table worked without errors.
    Move to developer workstation:
Logged on as SCHEMA_OWNER using SQLPLUS on Windows workstation.
TNSNAMES of course points to the Solaris database server.
Ran the external table script in SQLPLUS.
    External table was created.
    Ran Select * from ext_table.
    This failed with these errors:
    ORA29913 error executing ODCIEXTTABLEOPEN callout
    ORA29400 data cartridge error
    cant open logfile.log
    OS permission denied
    ORA06512 sys.oracle_loader line 19
So how can I select from external tables from a windows workstation?
Any guidance on this problem would be appreciated.

    Thank you for your response.
I am not creating the external table on the workstation.
    In both cases,
    from the Solaris console
    and from the Windows workstation
the external table is being created on the Solaris file system
    in an Oracle Directory object
running an SQL script from SQLPLUS prompt.
The external table creator, schema owner, has read and write permissions
granted by SYS on the oracle directory object.
    The problem is:
Logged in as the schema owner,
you can select * from ext_table from the Solaris console SQLPLUS,
but you can not select * from ext_table from the Windows workstation SQLPLUS.
You can DROP TABLE ext_table from the Windows workstation SQLPLUS.
You just cannot select * from ext_table from the Windows workstation SQLPLUS.
    I guess as a test,
I can drop from the ext_table creation script the references
    to discardfile, badfile, and logfile,
and remove this other file objects from the equation...
which appears to be a file permissions problem.

    Hello
I am using progressIndicator for updating large number of database values. But it seems that oracle.adf.view.faces.model is not an opensource. But the progressIndicator using oracle.adf.view.faces.model.BoundedRangeModel. So any one please tell me is it possible to use progressIndicator without using oracle.adf.view.faces.model.BoundedRangeModel. I am updating nearly 10000 records. So it should use the progressIndicator.

    Hi,
seems that your LOV implementation updates "MdlPrdId" on the table binding directly, which is not supposed to work

    Hi Krithika,
The class file mentioned here is part of adf-richclient-api-11.jar file which is a part of ADF Faces Runtime library. Could you please check if you have the mentioned jar file is in JDEV_HOME\oracle_common\modules\oracle.adf.view_11.1.1 directory? I suspect the jar file might be missing in your installation.
Assuming you are using JDev 11.1.1.2.0, you may also want to check if it reproduces in while running the application in the integrated WLS.

  • Import of ERwinR8 data models into Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler

Hi!  My site want to move off ERwin R8 and use Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler.  When will Oracle SQL Developer Data Modeler support the import of ERwin R8data model xml?
    Thanks very much,  Patty

    Hi,
You can add the classic SCOTT schema with EMP/DEPT tables to a 10g Express Edition DB by running this script as SYSTEM:
    C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\RDBMS\ADMIN\scott.sql
Also, you may wish to upgrade to the current version of SQL Developer:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/downloads/index.html
As for importing a .dmp file, you import it to the database, not SQL Developer. Please post that question to the appropriate forum.
