Oracle BI Publisher - Passing multiple wildcard search to a bind variable

Hi,
Please help me in resolving the below mentioned issue:
I have developed a report in oracle BI Publisher with a SQL query.
While scheduling the report to run I used to pass mutilple parameters like CGAMSVC08,RLCSVC51
If the pass the parameter with wildcard search like C% it works.
When I pass two or more parameter values with wildcard search like C%,R% its not working.
Could you please let me know how should I give the bind variable in the SQL query. Currently I'm paramater like the one shown below for passing multiple paramaters:
Where (',' || :PRMRETRID || ',' like '%,'||RL.RETROFIT_ID|| ',%')

HI Tyler.
Well, here's the latest.
I found this little gem in the BIEE 10.1.3.3.3 Release Notes Documentation...
This issue applies to Versions 10.1.3.3, 10.1.3.3.1, 10.1.3.3.2, and 10.1.3.3.3.
Reports that use the BI Publisher data template as the data model may fail with the
following error: "Data not defined."
This error will occur if you defined a parameter in your data template but you do not
pass a value to it via the user interface. If you do not specify this parameter in the "Parameters" section of the report definition that you created using the BI Publisher Edit Report interface, then you will receive the error.
To work around this issue, either define the parameter in the Edit Report interface or remove the parameter from the data template.
That bit is now working.
Having set this up and using your guide it works if my SOAP parameters declaration passes a single value like this...
<parameterNameValues>

<multiValuesAllowed>true</multiValuesAllowed>
<values>

16641

</values>

</parameterNameValues>
But if I try and pass two or more like this...
<parameterNameValues>

<multiValuesAllowed>true</multiValuesAllowed>
<values>

16641,18421

</values>

</parameterNameValues>
BIP states "java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01722: invalid number"
My SQL where clause is..
<sqlStatement name="Q1">
select * from vw_invoice_summary
where invoice_summary_id IN (:P_INVOICE_ID)
</sqlStatement>
And the BIP error records the parameter value as P_INVOICE_ID 16641,18421 (which are legit invoice IDs)
In summary, works if I pass one invoice ID, fails if I pass two or more.
Any ideas? Or do you reckon this is now a post for the BIP forum?
Kind regards.

• Passing multiple single values in Customer Exit Variables

Hi,
I have one requirement to Pass multiple single values in Customer Exit Variable.
If the user gives 2010 i need to get value previous fisacal year(2009),if its 2009, we need to get 2009.
Just requirement is like how to pass multiple single values?
Thanks.

Hi..
For this create a variable- Types of variable= Characteristics Value> Processing type as Customer Exit-->Reference Char as Fiscal year..
Try this code..
when 'xxxx'.
DATA: lv_zp0003_month(2) TYPE n,
lv_zp0003_year(4) TYPE n.
CLEAR: lv_zp0003_month, lv_zp0003_year.
lv_zp0003_month = sy-datum+4(2).
lv_zp0003_year = sy-datum(4).
If the month is January the year is set to previous year
IF lv_zp0003_month = '01'.
lv_zp0003_year = lv_zp0003_year - 1.
l_s_range-low = lv_zp0003_year.
Else the year is set to actual
ELSE.
l_s_range-low = lv_zp0003_year.
ENDIF.
IF l_s_range-low = l_s_range-high.
l_s_range-opt = 'EQ'.
ELSEIF l_s_range-high IS INITIAL.
l_s_range-opt = 'EQ'.
ELSEIF l_s_range-low LT l_s_range-high.
l_s_range-opt = 'BT'.
ENDIF.
l_s_range-sign = 'I'.
APPEND l_s_range TO e_t_range.
Hope this helps.

• Passing value from MD form to bind variable in report

I have an MD form, after I insert I want to redirect to a form and pass a value out of the detail section to the form to use as the value of it's bind variable. This works well on normal forms, but I cant seem to get it to work on the MD form. Below is an easy example and this doesnt work for me.
MD form master dept/detail emp, code under the save button:
doSave;
declare
l_empno integer;
l_url varchar2(2000);
begin
l_empno := p_session.get_value_as_NUMBER(
p_block_name => 'DETAIL_BLOCK',
p_attribute_name => 'A_EMPNO',
p_index => 1);
l_url := 'SCOTT.EMP_RPT.show?'
'p_arg_names=empno&p_arg_values='
| |l_empno;
portal30.wwa_app_module.set_target(l_url,'CALL');
end;
The form displays the empolyee information based on the value of empno from the MD form. The url looks like this http://hostname/pls/portal30/scott.emp_rpt.show?l_arg_names=empno&l_arg_values=
so no rows get returned because there is no value, if i fill it in with a empno it works, so i know the report works, it just isnt the get_value isnt grabbing the empno from the MD form.
null

I figured it out, the save button on a MD form, the doSave; clears out the form fields so do a get_value_as will not work b/c there is nothing there, you need to get the value before the doSave; the below code will work.
declare
l_empno number;
l_url varchar(2000);
begin
l_empno := p_session.get_value_as_NUMBER(
p_block_name => 'DETAIL_BLOCK',
p_attribute_name => 'A_EMPNO',
p_index => 1);
doSave;
l_url := 'scott.EMP_RPT.show?'
'p_arg_names=empno&p_arg_values='
| | l_empno;
portal30.wwa_app_module.set_target(l_url, 'CALL');
end;

• af:search shows required binding variables that is not want

Hello,
I have a WHERE clause similiar to this
... WHERE ([Binding Var 1] = 0 OR xzy_id IN (SELECT xzy_id FROM [Table] WHERE abc_id = [Binding Var2]))
When writing this to the WHERE segment of the view all binding varibales need to be required.
But when I use an <af:search> element in my jsff for searching through the table view all required binding variables are shown. I dont want that the element are shown because they are for internal use, only.
Thanks for your hints.
Greetings,
Ayhan

I haven't tried this - but what happens if you set the display hints for the bind variable to "hide?"

• Passing multiple single values to a Planning Sequence

Hi All,
We are using BEx Analyzer for planning. We are passing multiple single values for a single variable , to a IP-planning sequence. Planning sequence is only taking the last value passed and ignoring the rest.
Multiple variable values are passed as below:
Name                            Index                 Value
VAR_NAME_1     1     ZCC
VAR_LINES     1     5
VAR_VALUE_1     1     A10000001
VAR_VALUE_1     1     A10000002
VAR_VALUE_1     1     A10000003
VAR_VALUE_1     1     A10000004
VAR_VALUE_1     1     A10000005
These cell references are passed to "command button" through the "Command Range" property.
The values are calculated correctly but for only one Cost center (last one in the list) , In this case only data for the Cost Center "A10000005" is processed and rest of the cost centers are ignored.
What am I missing here? I appreciate your help.

• Passing multiple single values in VC

I have a model where ii have 2 views Detail & Summary. Im passing some values from one table to another using a intermediate query. Its not passing multiple values. My wauery has variable set as 'Multiple Single Values'. If i pass a single value it works.
Im on VC FLEX2 SP14.
Cheers,
Vikram

Hi
Go to the properties of first table -> Selection -> Multiple selection. Then join output of this table to your intermediate query through variable port & then drag second table. Also in joining line -> assigned field use 'infoobject name_key' for every field for which you are passing the values.

• How to use p_mainsearch parameter in basic search for a report with bind variable?

Hello,
I'd like to extend the basic-search in content-area elements to extra records in my own tables.
So I'd like to use the p_mainsearch-urlparameter (which holds the searchtext of a basic search) into a bind variable of my own report. My report will be on an extra tab on the search-page.
Especially I don't know how to transfer the value of p_mainsearch into the bind variable of the report.
Has anyone done that so far?
Example?
Thank you,
Joerg

I found out the following way:
1.)Report
1.1)SQL-Query:
select * from <owner>.<tablename> where UPPER(column) like '%'||UPPER(NVL(:searchtext,'abczyx123098'))||'%'
(Note: bind variable is :searchtext).
1.2)in "before displaying page"-section in "additional plsql" add the following:
if length(get_value('p_mainsearch')) >= 3 then
portal30.wwv_name_value.replace_value(
l_arg_names, l_arg_values, p_reference_path||'.searchtext,
portal30.wwv_standard_util.string_to_table2(get_value('p_mainsearch')));
end if;
1.3) publish as portlet
2.) Integrate the report-portlet into a new tab on search page. Run basic search.
Change to the tab with the portlet.
For me it is solved.
Joerg.

• Bind variable with search parameter in Oracle BI Publisher 10

Search list for a search parameter in Oracle BI EE works fine when the query doesn't contain a bind variable (parameter identifier). But when a bind variable is introduced in the constraint of search list query, it keeps on searching endlessly. For example,
-- this doesn't work
select col1
from table
where table.col2 = :I_param_bind_var
-- this works
select col1
from table
where table.col2 = 'xyz'
Using such bind variable in the list of values for menu parameters works fine. Is it an issue regarding publisher or am I missing something?

<?param@begin:Show_Location;'Yes';'string';'Yes,No'?>
it will give the Parameter Show_Loactaion with drop down Yes and No.
and to display <?$Show_Location?>
<?param@begin:dept;'PAY'?>

• Passing multiple parameters to an Oracle procedure

I'm having trouble passing multiple parameters to a stored procedure in Crystal Reports 2008 (12.2.0.290).
I'm using an OLE DB (ADO) connection to an Oracle 10g database.
I have created a stored procedure that has 3 parameters (in out sys_refcursor, in varchar2, in varchar2) and conforms to all of Crystal Reports' requirements for stored procedures.
When I select my stored procedure in the Database Expert, it prompts me to enter values for both varchar2 parameters. I enter values and everything seems fine. I close the Database Expert.
Now the stored procedure is listed in the Field Explorer, but I cannot expand the list of fields. There is a plus sign next to the stored procedure, but clicking on it does nothing. I do not get any error messages.
If I remove one of the parameters from the stored procedure and try again, everything works fine. I've also tried using a variety of parameter types, but this problem occurs every time there are 2 or more parameters (3 including the ref cursor).
Please help.

• Wildcard search with catsearch on Oracle 10g

Wildcard search problem is being discussed many times, however the solutions provided did not solve the problem.
I am using catsearch to take its advantages and return results at a faster rate. Aim is to simulate a like '%abc%' using catsearch in 10g.
Following are the steps to reproduce the problem.
CREATE TABLE test
(name VARCHAR2(60))
INSERT ALL
INTO test VALUES ('VCL Master')
INTO test VALUES ('VCL Master S.')
INTO test VALUES ('VCL Master S.A. Compartment 1')
INTO test VALUES ('VCL MasterS.A. Compartment 2')
INTO test VALUES ('VCL Master., S.A.')
INTO test VALUES ('KCL Master Corp.')

end;
CREATE INDEX test_inx ON test(NAME)

problem1:
select * from test where catsearch(name, 'CL Mast*', NULL)>0 --- no results returned
problem 2:
when I run the following query on the actual column of my table with 3 million records,
select * from XXXX where catsearch (NAME, 'VCL Master S*', NULL) > 0
I get the following error.
DRG-51030: wildcard query expansion resulted in too many terms
I have used () and "". Did a lot of R&D and still I am not able to a solution that resolves both of the problems.
Suggestions will be much appreciated.
Thanks.

This post has nothing to do with Oracle Objects. Perhaps some moderator will move it to the Oracle Text sub-forum/space, where it belongs.
Your search for 'CL Mast*' did not find any rows because there aren't any rows that match that criteria. If you want to return rows that have that string, then you need to add a leading wildcard. Technically CTXCAT indexes and CATSEARCH do not support leading wildcards, but you can use two asterisks as a workaround, so you can search for '**CL Mast*'.
Your wildcard_maxterms is set to 15000, so if there are more than 15000 words that begin with 's' in your 3 million records, then it will result in an error. If you upgrade to Oracle 11g, then you can set the wildcard_maxterms higher or to unlimited by setting it to 0, but that may cause your system to run out of memory. Most applications trap these errors and return a simple message to the user, indicating that the search for s* is too broad and to narrow the search.
I would use a CONTEXT index with CONTAINS instead of CTXCAT and CATSEARCH. It supports leading wildcards and you can index substrings for faster searches. If you want it to be like the CTXCAT index then you can make it transactional.

• Passing multiple select value from BI publisher to PL/SQL functions

Hi - I have designed a report which pass parameters (Multi select) into a function to get the output result. When a single parameter value is passed to the function, report is being displayed. When multi select value is passed to the function it is returning the error `wrong number or types of arguments in call to 'F_PROCESS_WAVE_DATA'. When i checked the parameters passed to the function, i can see each multi select value is treated as different value and is assigned to different parameter in the function.
Any help on passing the multi select parameter into function will be helpful.
Regards,
Vikram.

All - Issue was resolved. I followed the following steps to resolve the issue
1. Create a PL/SQL table type variable as VARCHAR2 in the database - Say as Larray
2. Create PL/SQL type record and table for the record in database. Lrec, Ltable
3. In BI report pass multiple select LOV variable as Larray(variable).
4. In DB function, Parameter should be defined as LARRAY.
5. Return PL/SQL table type Ltable from the function.

Vikram.

it said ora-00933 but my query can run i dont need the multiple values para, can anyone help me how to modify the report so it can pass multipel values thanks

HI I tried changing the parameter width to a larger value, it can output , and the field where I show the order_number i used source P_CONTRACT_NO,
it will display as 102005000,102005001 and I also tried using the column from the query directly, it will be separated , it has some other problem
I have the header part and main part,
and also there are page numbering, with the order number field set as order_number it will output single number , but the page order is wrong
102005000,102005001 will be like header page: 102005000 1/4 102005001 2/4, main page 102005000 3/4, 102005001 3/4
DO you have any idea how I can set the page numbering setting so it will output as header page:102005000 1/2 102005000 2/2
header page:102005001 1/2 102005001 2/2

• "Can select all" option in Oracle BI Publisher

Hi,
I created a parameter in my report in Oracle BI Publisher and I selected "Multiple selection" and "Can select all" for this parameter.
My data model is a sql query where I use this parameter in the "IN" condition like:
where customer_name in (:customer)
When I select in the prompt one or two or more values to "customer_name", results are correct. But when I select "All" I don't obtain results.
I noted when I select "All" is passed the "NULL" value. I don't have "All values passed" and "NULL value passed" checkboxes.

Can someone help me?

Hi,
You can give range values in the Query designer.
You can include variable selection where user can enter the selections with their own selections.
Let us know if you still have any issues.

• Probs sharing a report that uses SETPARAM to pass multiple parameters

Ok we have master DB account Disco that creates reports. I also have oracle acct Duser for the users to run the reports.
Per Metalink Note:304192.1, we've got the setparam stuff working to pass in date parameters into our sheet. This works fine when I run the report as Disco. When I try to share the report to Duser, it still prompts for the dates, but then the report returns all 0's for the results. I have no idea why this is happening.
Any suggestions on how to share reports with other users that pass in parameters would be much appreciated. thanks!!
Allen

Hi Allen,
I would always recommend that you use sys_context to pass parameters. You can search this site for sys_context or take a look at (Re: Passing multiple parameters into Custom Folder... for more details.
