Recently I have downloaded Oracle Database 11g-R2.
Will it work with Windows Server 2008-R2?

Did you look in the installation guide for the software requirement for 11.2? You could had easily found the answer from there by yourself.

Problem instalation ora database 11g r2 in windows server 2008 r2 PATH variable failed
Dear Experts
I'm installing a database Oracle Database 11 r2, in an operating system Window Server 2008 R2.
The problem:
When the installer verifying that the path it ends. simply.
I did:
the basic steps, how to put all the unzipped files in a single directory.
E: \ ORACLE \ Installers \ Database \ win64_11gR2_database_1of2
And the installation will:
E: \ ORACLE \ orcl_database
and
I did tests with different values in the PATH variable:
short values,
no% oracle_home%
with% oracle_home%
long values
Always ran the installer as administrator.
Anyway,
Do not know what else could test to change this result and successfully install the database.
I have done several searches on this forum and others and have not found what could change to achieve success in the installation

I would like an example of an Enterprise Manager Job that uses an OS Script for MS Windows that would effectively run a datapump export of my Oracle 11g database (11.2.0.3) running on a Windows 2008 server. My OEM OMS is running on a Linux server with an Oracle 12c repository. I'd like to be able to set environment variables for date and time, my export file name (that includes SID, and export date and time, job name, and other information pertinent to the datapump export. Thus far, I have been unsuccessful with using the % delimiter around my variables. Also, I have put the "cmd/c" as the "Interpreter" but I am not getting anywhere in a hurry :-(

May I know what is the best practice for install oracle 11g r2 on windows server 2008 r2. Should I create a special account for windows for the oracle database installation? What permission should I grant to the folders where Oracle installed and the database related files located (datafiles, controlfiles, etc.)
Just grant Full for Administrators and System and remove permissions for all others accounts?
Also how should I configure windows firewall to allow client connect to the database.

Does anyone know whether Oracle 8i can be run on Windows Server 2008? My organization has only a license for Oracle 8i and we're buying new servers coming with Windows Server 2008.

Hello to everybody!
I have and old pc with Windows Server 2003 (32 bit) where i've installed Oracle DB 10g XE. Everything works fine.
Now i have to migrate the DB from that old machine to a new one with Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit.
I've tryied to install the Oracle DB 10g XE into the new server but, after installation is finished, i wasn't able to open the DB homepage at http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex. It said "This page can't be displayed". I try with SQLPLUS but after i insert the admin credentials i obtain these lines:

Where can be the problem?>> ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
Database is not running. Most likely the installer did not complete all its tasks, it can happen.
For windows, the database service has to be set up (see Start/Run/services.msc), services started, installer creates the database, and quite a few other setup chores. If the database creation fails, all the other stuff is not relevant.
Under the <drive:>oraclexe folder there *should* be a datafiles (*.DBF) files somewhere. Can't recall the exact location for 10g. Try file explorer and a search for *.dbf files, that will probably come up empty.
Note the requirements, at Oracle&reg; Database Express Edition it calls for x86, not x64. The 11g XE also has lots of trouble getting a successful install on x64 as well, note the Download page states "does not work on x64" although some folks have gotten it to work.Try the deinstall steps, and use a right click/run as Administrator that *might* get past the UAC glitch that happens on the later OS versions. -

The installation is getting paused at the 8th step of Oracle installation.Neither i am getting any error message nor an entry is recorded in the Oracle inventory log.
It is showing a blank screen after the prerequiste checks are complete.
Request you to help me out in resolving the issue.

Thanks for the response. The database is still not created to check in the Alert log .It is still in the phase of pre-requisite checks. I did not go with Silent installation.It is a plain single instance installation.
The installation screen is greyed out with out any message or error.
Please could you share if you have any thoughts on this. -

information system. My main problem is having to backup and restore the database backup files every time the servers in branches goes down for whatever reasons. I want to deploy this feature of high availability and failover cluster using Windows Server 2008
and SQL Server 2005. Our branches have 2 Servers. One is for Primary and other is for Backup. What I want to do is that, I want to change Backup Server to Primary Server whenever the Primary Server goes down for whatever reasons. All the working data and databases
from Primary will immediately replicated into Backup Server along with all the IP information of Primary Server. Please give me step by step guide for this process.Try below

RH Server 9 compatibility with Windows Server 2008 SP2/SQL Server
Our tech support people are preparing for a first install of RH Server 9. They have asked me to find out whether there is a recent patch that would enable it to work with Windows Server 2008 SP2 64 bit and MS SQL Server 2008.
If there is not yet a patch, will there be one for this OS/DB combination in the future, and when?
This is in reference to the knowledgebase article at http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/884/cpsid_88483.html which gives a "not recommended" status to this combination.
Our infrastructure team would prefer to use this combination if it is possible.
Second question from the tech team: Do we need to separate the RoboHelp application from the database or can they both reside on the same server?To answer your first question, no there is no patch to allow SQL Server 2008 to run on a 64 bit server. To answer your second question, I don't know. This is a user to user forum and therefore we are not party to any discussions on when or if a patch will be released.
