Oracle designer error - RME-00011
Hi,
We are looking for a solution to the error that we are getting in our work place.
The Order of installation we made are:
1) Install Oracle Enterprise Edition
2) Config the network using Net8 Configuration Assistant
3) We could connect to the Oracle Database using SQL*Plus
4) We installed the server part of the Designer in the Oracle Database (with the help of Oracle Designer Installation Guide)
5) Install Oracle Developer and Designer in our client machines
6) Config the network using Net8 Configuration Assistant
7) We are able to logon to Oracle Server from Developer as well as Designer
8) Now we tried to create an 'Application System' in the Designer....
It pops the message 'No Data Found'. The detailed error shows the following message:
RME-00011: Operation 'INS' on ci_application_systems has failed
RME-02124: Failed to execute SQL statement: begin
:errcnt := rmmes.getsize;
rmmes.getall(:errutil,:errcode,
:errp0,:errp1,:errp2,:errp3,
:errp4,:errp5,:errp6,:errp7); end;
RME-02105: Oracle error occurred...
ORA-01403: no data found
ORA-06512: at "REPUSER.RMMES", line 157
ORA-06512: at line 3
ORA-01403: no data found
If anyone know the cause or solution to this error, pls help us...
Cheers.
I experienced the same problem. New installations, in whichever sequence did not help. Analysing the error messages is the best way. What turned out to be the reason, was the parameter
-> large_pool_size,
which is initially set to 600kB. This is too small. Set it to 1MB (1048576 in init.ora). This solved my problem.
It would be nice, if this was mentioned in the Installation Guide
If it works, send a mail!
Good luck, Wolf

I have installed Oracle Designer R2.1.2 with Oracle database 8.0.5, when I want to created a new Application name it caused many errors.
Errors massage:
RME-00011 Operation 'open' on activity was failed.
RME-00020 Internal API error - ORA - 06508 could not find program unit being called.
Errors detail :
RME-00222 failed to dispacth operation to repostory.
RME-00223 failed to open new activity.
Anybody would like to help me, please.
Thanks.Hello,
This is a very old and no longer supported configuration.
Both products have not been available to customers for a
long time.
However I looked at the errors you recieved and it seems
you may have failed to grant some specific rights to the repository owner (used to install the repository).
Try the entering the following SQL and see if this fixes
the problem:
grant execute on dbms_pipe to <repos_owner>;
grant execute on dbms_lock to <repos_owner>;
If not, I'm afraid I'm not sure I can help. I suggest
you contact Support to see if they can find any older
information for your specific versions of Designer.

When using multi select in some utilities error RME-00011 occurs
When using multi-select in some utilities of headstart
eg. Enforce CDM Ordering Standard for Colums
RME-000011 error occurs:
RME-00011: Operation 'upd' on COLUMN has failed
Activity aborted with API errors.
Does someone know what went wrong?
regards,
marcelMarcel,
Could you please let me know what utility causes this erroneous behaviour? Is it possible to give a reproduceable description? I'm not aware of this problem. If you can force the failure again, is it possible to include the last part of the debug detailed log (set message level for user at 'debug detailed') in this thread?
Kind regards,

RME-00011 error encountered while creating a new application system
Hello,
I have just started with Oracle Designer.I have installed it.
I wish to run the Repository reports and ER diagrammer from an
existing database.So I created a repository.When I try to create
an application system , it is giving me an error as:
RME-00011:"Operation 'close' on ACTIVITY has failed"
And as I can not create one , i can n ot do any work with it.
What is going wrong here? Your help is greatly appreciated.
-ksgHi
first you must to give execution grant for sys.dbms_lock and sys.dbms_pipe to repos owner. And MAX_ENABLES_ROLES must be in multiples of 10 and should execeed 20 in your
INITxxx.ORA file.
But I must to say that, I have this problem with RME-02124 RME-o2105 and ORA-01403 problems. And adviced solution that is mentioned above have not been solving my problem.. :(
But it may be help you...
take it easy.. -

Workaround
~~~~~~~~~~
For symptoms 1 and 2, define the context of a workarea before selecting from
the CI_... views:
exec jr_context.set_workarea ('<Workarea Name>');
For the other symptoms, the errors are caused by RDBMS bugs that were fixed
in the last patch set releases of databases.
We recommend that you upgrade to a version of the database that is certified
with the release of Designer that you are using.
CDS-11025 Error: Oracle Designer generation error with PL/SQL package
Hi friends,
We tried to generate a database package from Oracle Designer (10.1.2.6) and getting "syntax errors" but the package has no syntax errors when we copy and paste the code and compile in TOAD (10.6)
Error from Designer:
code snippet from the Error message:
AND AvpValve.WTRC_INTL_ID = rec_update_dist.WTRC_INTL_ID
AND AvpValve.VLV_INTL_ID = rec_update_dist.VLV_INTL_ID;
END LOOP;
Thanks for any feedback,
JimFound the problem.
It was an issue with the CURSOR with the SELECT ... FROM (SELECT CASE WHEN THEN ELSE END). After swithing to the DECODE statement, Designer is able to generate the package.
CASE
WHEN ISOLATION_IND = 'Y' THEN
'A'
WHEN OPERATED_IND = 'Y' THEN
'B'
ELSE
'C'
END
decode(ISOLATION_IND,'Y','A',decode(OPERATED_IND,'Y','B','C'))
However, still strange to me that Designer doesn't like the CASE as part of SELECT.
Email: [email protected]What exactly do you want to do with Designer? You need to install the Designer repository in a Oracle database before you can use Designer.
I suggest that you read the Repository Installation Guide (installed with the product or on OTN) and then go through the Designer Tutorial on OTN (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/designer/9i_collateral.htm#tut) to understand some Designer concepts. -
Email: [email protected]What exactly do you want to do with Designer? You need to install the Designer repository in a Oracle database before you can use Designer.
I suggest that you read the Repository Installation Guide (installed with the product or on OTN) and then go through the Designer Tutorial on OTN (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/designer/9i_collateral.htm#tut) to understand some Designer concepts. -
Error when install latest ODB with Oracle Designer
I need to use Oracle Discoverer.
So I removed all traces of Oracle from my machine.
Installed Oracle Designer Suite.
It worked.
Then I installed Oracle Data Provider for .NET 9.2.0.2.102..
I got 2 errors during install. One was due to a service (OracleHomeAgent) which I shut down easily.
The other, was more trouble:
Error in writing to file C:\Oracle\Ora92\bin\oci.dll
I could find no more Oracle services to shut down.
Nor did an IISRESET release it .
So I told it to ignore copying that file.
Then it finished.
My web applications which use ODP seem to work fine.
But am I at risk for some error?
Why would OCI.DLL not allow itself to be installed?
Is that a problem?
thanks
David Kreth AllenMost likely, some MS OS services, not Oracle services, are locking your oci.dll. Please refer to the following thread for a workaround.
Runtime error on Oracle Designer
Hello
I have Oracle Designer 10g installed on windows server 2003 sp2
its suddenly give me error when i try to run the Oracle Designer as follows :
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program:
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way .
Please contact the applications's support team for more information
regardsDid you check your exact version against the certification matrix? Designer is really a client tool, not a server tool. My guess is that there are not many versions certified against Windows Server 2003.
Oracle Designer Collection problem
Hi all,
this is my first post in this forum, but I've been using it a lot and I'd like to thank everyone that have always helped me through their posts.
Now I have come to a problem to which I can't find a solution...
My problem is the following:
My goal is to import a data model. To do this I have to create certain objects in Oracle Designer, prior to importing the model itself. The reason for this is that if this certain object isn't created, the import itself fails on a given table.
More objectively, the object I'm trying to create in the "Server model" in the "Oracle Collection Type" is a VARRAY of 999999 elements of RAW(2000).
When I try to create this object, I get the following error:
Message
RME-00209: Current activity has outstanding violations
Cause
Could not 'commit' the data because of outstanding
data integrity violations.
Action
Examine violations, fix the invalid data, and try again.
Message
RME-00224: Failed to close activity
Cause
Could not close ('commit') an activity.
Action
Examine other reported errors for specific details.
Message
CDA-00500: Invalid format type <RAW>
Cause
The specified format type is not valid.
Action
Refer to the format type rules in the Designer Meta-model and
API documentation.
This error is on Designer 9.0.2.10 and on Oracle 9.2.0.7 database
If I try the same thing on Designer 10.1.2.4 and on Oracle 10.2.0.1, I get the following:
Message
RME-00020: Internal API error - ORA-06502: PL/SQL: erro numérico ou de valor : o buffer da cadeia de caracteres é demasiado pequeno
Cause
The API has detected an internal inconsistency.
Action
Check the detail of the associated Oracle Server error message
(ORA-xxxxx) and resolve it.
Message
RME-00011: Operation 'close' on ACTIVITY has failed
Cause
An API operation request has failed for some reason.
Action
Examine other reported errors for specific details.
Message
RME-00222: Failed to dispatch operation to Repository
Cause
Requested operation failed because of other errors.
Action
Examine other reported errors for specific details.
Message
RME-00224: Failed to close activity
Cause
Could not close ('commit') an activity.
Action
Examine other reported errors for specific details.
Message
CDA-00500: Invalid format type <RAW>
Cause
The specified format type is not valid.
Action
Refer to the format type rules in the Designer Meta-model and
API documentation.
If anyone could shed some light on this, it would be much appreciated.
Best regards to all of you,
FilipeHi Michael. Thank you for your reply.
Nevertheless, I think that what you say is not correct since I can create a VARRAY of NUMBER datatype; the only thing I can't create is a VARRAY of RAW datatype.
Can you, or anyone, comment on this?
Thank you.
Regards,
Filipe
I saw a similar individual have the same type of errors but they were running an older version of Designer. Any help would be appreciated.
ThanksThis problem occurs because Oracle9i import and export utilities are not
compatible with an Oracle 8.1.7 database. This not a bug but an
Oracle9i design feature.
Workaround:
To install Oracle SCM on an Oracle 8.1.7 database, you will first need to
install Oracle 8.1.7 import and export utilities in a separate Oracle
Home. The registry variables EXECUTE_IMPORT and EXECUTE_EXPORT need to be
changed to point to these 8.1.7 import and export
utilities instead of to the Oracle9i versions. These variables are found under
the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\REPOS61
Note that when installing the 8.1.7 import and export utilities, the following
error may be encountered:
There is no oracle.swd.jre 1.1.8.10
The workaround here is to use the Oracle Universal Installer installed onto
your hard disk with the Oracle9i install, to install the Oracle 8.1.7
components.
Hope this helps
