Oracle distributed doc capture - database error

hi all,
i work at project ( capture , archive ) and i implement the ODDC ( instalation and integration )
i do all configure include scanning profiles ( the last step )
then when i do test the system i find that there is no data saved upon scanning and after commit else data in the commit table i build and mapping with the index fields and ECAudit table , but no data in tables like EcBatches and more,
i see more than one column with type blob ( i mean column in capture system core tables like ECBatches)in many tables ( these tables not contain any data ! )
i use the evaluation period license
oracle 10g release 2
win server 2003 stander edition R2 sp2
any Idea please ??!!!!!

its started !!!, but is there any blob field in the capture system usual database ??
i mean the system database that the capture build it ??? is there any blob field ..... any idea please ??
what about the check integrity utility is it stable ? what can do for me ?
i tired with this problem ... any one can help me please ?
is there any data must add to the database before the commit operation ??
i dont have any data before and not all tables collect data just the ECAUDIT and my commit tables where the index fields saved i name it ( dbcommit ) with this tables
database info
user: capture
password: capture
database: capture
commit table:
DBCOMMIT
column name: DataType size description
PERMIT_ID integer
DOC_TYPE varchar2 500 ( from 1 to 14 from pick list)
AREA_ID integer default = 09
SCAN_DATE date
USER_ID integer
DOC_PATH varchar2 500 document path on capture server
INDEX_DATE Date
when i do select statment like :
select * from ECBATCHES;
i get the error SP2-0678
its mean :
The "SP2" error messages are messages issued by SQL*Plus. The SP2-0678 error message text is "Column or attribute type can not be displayed by SQL*Plus." What you probably tried to do is to dump a binary data type, i.e. BLOB, to the screen in SQL*Plus. The problem is that SQL*Plus can only handle text data. It cannot handle binary data. Therefore, you are getting an error message telling you that this data type can not be displayed in your SQL*Plus session. Try your SELECT statement again but eliminate the BLOB column(s) from your query.
the question is why there is some column type " BLOB " in the table like " ECBATCHES " and the other column is not blob its varchar2 and integer .... and these column empty !!! there is error somewhere but i tired re install it in new machine and database but nothing change !
any IDEA please :(

  • Oracle distributed doc capture - commiting

hi i'm currently researching on oracle doc capture and oracle distributed doc capture products,
currentyly i've problem in the commiting feature from the web oddc client,
after i scanned documents, i click send, (im using text commit profile)
but when i check in the commit folder at the capture server, there's nohting in it
(i've use c:\odc\commit for the commit folder)
but there's something in the IIS webcapture clientaccess folder (C:\Program Files\Oracle\Document Capture\WebPages\ClientAccess)
its a .PAK file name, when i open it in winrar, its indeed the document that i scanned and send from the client.
but why is it stored in here? what's with the .PAK format, and how to configure the settings properly for storing
files with its proper format (TIFF, JPG, PDF) in the server ??
i'm using recent odc and oddc from oracle, in windows 2003.
any help will be appreciated, if this works, i'll try commiting to ucm (so far it isnt working also)

thank you ram for your response,
yes you're right i actually didnt notice there are ODDC service in in windows service list,
when i started it (not automatically started when installed) the package get "commited".
ok, now that the service is up, there are new problems here,
i want to integrate ODDC with UCM, ie: commiting to UCM,
when i commit to UCM, and check ODDC log, it seems that it results in an error, like this ...

thanks,.. and what is the best practice setting for making ODDC successfully commits to UCM.

  • Oracle distributed document capture service not started

Oracle distributed document capture service not started
    and timeout

I did check the Distributed Document Capture Configuration (from the Start menu) and it also indicates that I have selected "Oracle Distributed Document Capture Prompted Login". Once I click "OK" after I supplied all the paths required by server settings, it also displays the error "The username and password could not be validated". What credentials should be entered in the User ID / Password / Domain fields? You should use the username and password entered while configuring the "capture" security model. Leave the domain field blank.
I have not yet configured the IIS at this point. Is it required for the Capture application to authenticate the user I specified during the installation configuration at login? IIS will serve web ODDC interface and will be needed for authentication while accessing ODDC web pages. I beleive that it is not needed for authentication from ODC/ODDC applets. However, when something is not working as expected, I would first finish all required installation and especially post installation setup steps.
I had a look at the IIS configuration in the installation document. It doesn't clearly state which document is the default document for the website one needs to create in IIS. Do you know what it should be? You have to add new web site, say like "Capture" and add virtual directory from assumed path like: C:\Program Files\Oracle\Document Capture\WebPages
For the default document I have WebCapture.asp.
The Oracle Distributed Document Capture service does no start on my PC. Is this required for me to atleast login to the Capture application? It's required only for processing the scanned batches.
I hope that this will help.

  • Issue with Oracle Distributed Document Capture in table update

    Hi All,
I installed ODDC and configured with Oracle 11gr2 for document commit.
I have table with 4 fields i.e id,c_number,content,mime_type. I am storing the image in content which blob datatype.
when i import and send document from WebCapture screen i am getting document send successfully. But the data is no commiting in database table.
The pak file are genereated in "/Document Capture/Webpages/ClientAcces".
how i have to commit this files to database?.
am I missing something in configuration?. Please suggest.

It's likely that Oracle Distributed Document Capture Service (ecNetService) haven't been started as it is responsible for the pak file processing and it doesn't start automatically after install.

  • Oracle distributed document capture OCR

there is no OCR in Oracle distributed document  capture there is any solution fro this issue ??

Yes, the 11.1.1.8 version has Capture as a managed server and not as a windows based desktop app. So no seperate installer for the same.
Also, Looks like they'ave covered the ODDC use cases in the Capture itself, that being a web app now.
    regards,
    Pradeep Mahajan.

  • Oracle Distributed Document Capture

Has anyone heard of any new release for ODC/ODDC 10gR3 to 11g (talked about back in 2008)? I noticed in the WebCenter qtr update they have no mention of the capture side of the house, only the end-user side. Thanks in advance

I think that is part of Webcenter Imaging now.

  • Distributed Document Capture and date fields

    Greetings!
We are using Oracle Distributed Document Capture and Universal Content Management as repository, it works fine. However we defined a custom metadata field with data type "date" in UCM and we defined a scan profile with its asssociated date field and the problem that we have is when we are using the distributed document capture client and the user selects a date from the calendar and send the document, the commit process fails with the following error message :
The field 'xxx' does not contain a valid date.
However If the user types the date field as "29/01/2009 00:00" the commit process works fine and the document is stored on UCM.
My question is how to enable the calendar on the Distributed Document Capture client in order to enter a valid date with format "dd/m/yyyy hh:mm"
    Thanks!

Thanks for your answer I set the property "Automatically assign a Content ID on check in" Should I specify the minor revision label and the major revision label?.
Because I set just the "Automatically assign a Content ID on check in" and now I got the following when I am scanning documents:
***Error*** Failed to process batch 01354425_01354446. Error Number: 40011, Error: Failed to commit batch (with delete). Commit Profile - ucm: Document file already exists. Commit is configured to abort. Document File: \\svrdocumentos_ejc_ejercito_mil_co\batch\00J\0000000D\0000000D_1.TIF
The good news is the previous error "Error Number: 40008" is solved
    I really appreciate yor help.
    Thanks.

"302 Moved Temporarily" is a web server error (I googled it - see e.g. http://www.checkupdown.com/status/E302.html)
Two recommendations that you can try:
    - do not use 'localhost' - use computer assigned name, or at worst IP address
    - in my system, Server URL is set to http://ecm-base:16200/cs/idcplg (from ODC). Try to modify yours accordingly.

  • Upgrade of Database with Oracle Change Data Capture

    Hello,
We are upgrading and moving our database to a different server.
The move is from 10G R1 database on Solaris to 11G R2 on Linux.
Our database uses Oracle Change Data Capture.
What is the best way to perform this migration? Unlike in the approach below, ideally, it would be without any manual steps to drop and recreate CDC subscriptions, change tables, etc.
    Thanks.
Considerations for Exporting and Importing Change Data Capture Objects
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B13789_01/server.101/b10736/cdc.htm#i1027532
Starting in Oracle Databse 10g, Oracle Data Pump is the supported export and import utility for Change Data Capture. Change Data Capture change sources, change sets, change tables, and subscriptions are exported and imported by the Oracle Data Pump expdp and impdp commands with the following restrictions:
After a Data Pump full database import operation completes for a database containing AutoLog Change Data Capture objects, the following steps must be performed to restore these objects:
    1. The publisher must manually drop the change tables with the SQL DROP TABLE command. This is needed because the tables are imported without the accompanying Change Data Capture metadata.
    2. The publisher must re-create the AutoLog change sources, change sets, and change tables using the appropriate DBMS_CDC_PUBLISH procedures.
    3. Subscribers must re-create their subscriptions to the AutoLog change sets.

    Hello,
I opened SR with Oracle Support, they are suggesting to perform full database import/export
Change Data Capture change sources, change sets, change tables, and subscriptions are exported and imported by the Oracle Data Pump expdp and impdp commands with the following restrictions.
Change Data Capture objects are exported and imported only as part of full database export and import operations (those in which the expdp and impdb commands specify the FULL=y parameter). Schema-level import and export operations include some underlying objects (for example, the table underlying a change table), but not the Change Data Capture metadata needed for change data capture to occur."
    CDC has different implementation methods:
You may use the below query to determine-
    select SOURCE_NAME, SOURCE_DESCRIPTION, CREATED, SOURCE_TYPE, SOURCE_DATABASE, SOURCE_ENABLED from change_sources;
    – Synchronous CDC: with this implementation method you capture changes
synchronously on the source database into change tables. This method uses
internal database triggers to enable CDC. Capturing the change is part of the
original transaction that introduces the change thus impacting the performance
    of the transaction.
    – Asynchronous Autolog CDC: this implementation method requires a staging
database separate from the source database. Asynchronous Autolog CDC uses
the database's redo transport services to transport redo log information from
the source database to the staging database1. Changes are captured at the
staging database. The impact to the source system is minimal, but there is some
latency between the original transaction and the change being captured.
    As suggested in the document-
Change Data Capture objects are exported and imported only as part of full database export and import operations (those in which the expdp and impdb commands specify the FULL=y parameter). Schema-level import and export
operations include some underlying objects (for example, the table underlying a change table), but not the Change Data Capture metadata needed for change data capture to occur.
    ■ AutoLog change sources, change sets, and change tables are not supported.
Starting in Oracle Database 10g, Oracle Data Pump is the supported export and import utility for Change Data Capture.
Re-Creating AutoLog Change Data Capture Objects After an Import Operation
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14223/cdc.htm#i1027532
After a Data Pump full database import operation completes for a database containing AutoLog Change Data Capture objects, the following steps must be performed to restore these objects:
    a. The publisher must manually drop the database objects underlying AutoLog Change Data Capture objects.
    b. The publisher must re-create the AutoLog change sources, change sets, and change tables using the appropriate DBMS_CDC_PUBLISH procedures.
    c. Subscribers must re-create their subscriptions to the AutoLog change sets.

Reading an example on Message Stacks in section 1 Using Messages, the following error description is nowhere to be found in the main list: ORA-06502. So are many other very common errors like ORA-00942 ¿Are these described in another book?
    Thanks,

Hello again. I have learned that some of these older low-number error messages were present in the code in a different and abbreviated format than the one eventually agreed upon. These messages were entered by hand in the Error Messages book. When we began generating the messages directly from the code, some of these older messages were inadvertently dropped. We hope to fix this problem in the next release by changing the code. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes. For now the only workaround is to go back to an earlier version of the documentation, as the meaning of the messages has not changed.

  • Database Error: DBD::Oracle::db do failed: ORA-04030: out of process memory

    Hi
I have a stored procedure that uses the XMLQuery function (SELECT XMLQuery( '......' RETURNING CONTENT) FROM dual; ) to extract data from 3 different tables and store the xml file in XML DB. This store procedure was running fine for a long time until 2 weeks ago where I started seeing the following error:
Database Error: DBD::Oracle::db do failed: ORA-04030: out of process memory when trying to allocate 92 bytes (koh dur heap d,qmxtkWriteXobToOpn:heap)
Currently I have 16,000 records. I am not sure what is going on, the size of the previous successful output xml file is about 2M. I also noticed when the stored procedure runs with 3G of system memory available, it basically used up all the memory and cpu time. The store proc consistently dies after 3.5 hour and spits out the ORA-04030 out of process memory error.
Does anyone have any suggestion what to look for or what parameters I need to set? Thanks

Unless your database is strictly a DSS-type of database, your AWR report exposes loads of issues with it. And I think none of the time during the AWR window was spent on database. Look at the DB time (with all those multi cores) compared with the elapsed time of the AWR.
As you are on 11g, why not make use of MEMORY_TARGET (a single parameter to manage both SGA and PGA)? If you are already on it, ignore this as I can't see it anywhere. If not, get rid of SGA_TARGET and PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET and replace it with a single MEMORY_TARGET parameter. However you may have a minimum threshold set for different SGA pools so that they won't shrink beyond that point.
Having said that, setting MEMORY_TARGET is not a guarantee to avoid ORA-4030. Just a single bad PL/SQL code could go and exploit the untunable part of your process memory and even go and blow up the physical memory. If you are using FORALL and BULK load, see if you can cut it down into few chunks rather than running as a single process.
    What does your V$PGASTAT say?

  • Oracle 9i standby database error

    Hi all,
I am getting this error on my standby DB while it's archiving a log...and I've even restarted the DB and media recovery. Also, it's not a disk space issue.
    Errors in file f:\oracle\admin\xxxprd\bdump\xxxprd_pmon_5224.trc:
    ORA-16145: archival for thread# 1 sequence# 19113 in progress
Some recovered datafiles maybe left media fuzzy
Media recovery may continue but open resetlogs may fail
    Any ideas ?
    Much appreciated

  • Oracle and SQL Server Database Link errors

I am having following error messages while setting up the ODBC connection. I want to access SQL Server tables from within Oracle8i. I have followed all the instruction of Oracle Generic Connectity document and have tested ODBC connection with ODBCPING as well as with TNSPING. Have created Database Link also within Oracle for SQL Server. But when I access the SQL Server table from within Oracle I get the following error messages.
ORA-12500: TNS:listener failed to start a dedicated server process
Could any body suggestion the solution please.
    Thanks and regards,

There is a Heterogenous Services/ Generic Connectivity forum that is probably going to have a lot more people familiar with these issues than you'll find in this forum. I would suggest posting over there.
