Oracle ERP adapter or Develop our own?

Within our company we have a discussion if we shall use the out-of-the-box Oracle ERP adapter to integrate to Oracle e-Business Suite or if we shall develop our own web service & WMQ to get it loosely coupled between SIM and EBS.
The main reason we can see to develop our own is that we will have the control of the code and can handle version upgrades both on SIM and EBS, the downside is of course the development time and costs.
Has anyone had the same discussions and what did it result in and what where your arguments for use or not to use OracleERP adapter?
For you that run the OracleERP adapter what experiences have you got both good or bad and what have you seen is the major challenges?
Please feel free to give comments also in general what pro's and con's is with develop or use the built-in adapters

HI,
1. What are the perquisites for developing XI Adapter?
You can develop Adapter using JCO Adapter framework
2. what tools do I have to learn ?
i hope NWDS, we can use adapter metadata,PCK
3. Where can I find the useful information regarding the development of XI Adapter?
how to import all the configuration for the developed adapter
How do u configure external adapter to XI?

  • How can I turn off the WLS 6.1 security in order to develop my own application-based security module?

    Dear Colleagues,
    I am currently developing a J2EE application using WLS 6.1.
    My team and I have to implement a security requirement to suit our company's needs.
    The security requirements are that, users' password need to be aged (30 days maximum) and we need to provided a GUI front-end (JSP) to allow users to change their password when these expire after 30 days.
    Our internal contacts in the company, have already taken the lead to find out about whether we will be able to use the WLS 6.1 platform to do this and the answer we got back, was.
    Now we need to develop our own security module.
    I have 2 questions:
    1. How can we turn off the WLS security in order develop our own application-based security module?
    2. How can we develop a security module that allows us to age users' password and provide them with facilities to change their passwords when these expire?
    At the moment, we are using the default BEA WebLogic login.jsp page and there some configuration in the web.xml for this. I will be grateful if you could advise me on how to turn this default security off so that we can write our own security module.

    hi,
    1.You can write your own realm in 61 which can plugged for your security
    calls.
    2. once you write your ownrealm.. you can access it through weblogic
    api/ur api..

  • Creating our own Thread Pool

    We have an application running on WLS6.1 with WLI2.1. We're using WLI2.1 to define
    workflows; we interface to the workflow definitions with custom EJB/JSP code.
    Without getting too detailed, we would like to spawn a thread when a user submits
    some of our forms. From the point of submittal onwards, there is nothing in the
    execution of the workflow that requires user intervention.
    We initially tackled this problem with the use of internal JMS messages in the
    workflow. However, the way our workflow is structured we would really like to
    manually spawn threads instead of embedding JMS messages in the flow. (For instance,
    we may want to obtain multiple workflow instances and execute them all at once
    with the same action).
    Is there any downside to us developing our own ThreadPool? Is there a pre-canned
    Thread Pool service that is available as part of the WLS package?
    I've already got a ThreadPool implementation working and it seems to be doing
    the right thing. There's just some concern in our company that we should be using
    a WLS service instead of rolling our own.
    Details of our threadpool:
    - it's a long-lived Singleton that is instantated at application startup.
    - A predefined number of Worker threads are created, and they can be set with
    a Runnable object to execute.
    - I have synchronized LinkedList containers for idleThreads, busyThreads, and
    tasksToRun (Runnables that have not yet been assigned to a thread).
    Thanks!

  • How do i give access to developer on Oracle ERP R12 database?

    Hi
    We have a developer joined in our team.He needs access to Oracle ERP R12 Database for developing some reports. For developing reports, he needs access to all database schema access either by sqlplus,developer 10g, plsql developer etc. Giving application developer responsibility will not solve the problem. I cannot give him apps password or other database accounts passwords.
    I created apps_query (read only schema) based on this link http://oracle.anilpassi.com/read-only-schema-in-oracle-apps-11i.html, but he says cannot see or select objects from other schema like inventory, purchasing etc. I doubt his comments. What is the best way to protect and give 'select' privileges on all module database access?
    Need suggestions.

    We clone a special instance from our test/qa environment for the developers and give them the apps password (it does not have production data but is configured with the appropriate orgs, coa, etc.). It is on a separate server from our test, sandbox, training and obviously production environments. With 10-15 developers we have found this the easiest way to go. The developers get read only access accounts in our Production and Volume Test (clone of Prod) environments only on an as needed basis and only for a limited time.
    We also do not give them UNIX access to the development server just sqlnet and ebusiness access. I wrote a utility that allows them to copy files (plsql, oa framework, workfow, etc) onto the server and compile with the appropriate tool. Once their development and unit testing is complete our change control process takes over to migrate the code into the test/qa enviroments for testing by the qa analysts...

    Hi,
    I think, we are mentioning the URL of the adapter channel directly in the configuration. SO there is no place we can customize this flow..just a thought
    Because in the file adapter etc, After Adapter Engine picks up the data and before it goes into integration engine module is processed..

  • CSD_RULE_MATCH_FAILED-calling service request api from oracle apps adapter

    We are doing integration between Siebel and Oracle Apps. When a service request is created on Siebel we are passing that in Oracle Apps using Oracle Apps adapter which is calling a custom API which is doing all the validations and in turn is calling a public api for service request creation. There are two types of service requests - Field Service and Depot Repair. For Field Service we are able to successfully insert the data on Oracle Apps, but for Depot Repair we are getting an error 'CSD CSD_RULE_MATCH_FAILED' from the standard API.
    We have checked the setup and found it is proper. We invoked the pl/sql API from sql developer and we are able to insert the data. So we are facing this issue only when calling the api from oracle apps adapter.
    In the invoke call we have set these properties -
    jca.apps.RespApplication
    jca.apps.Responsibility
    jca.apps.Username
    Based on our analysis till now it is looking like a security context setup issue, but we are not really sure what properties to set.
    Any help in getting this through will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Shantanu

    Hi Vijay,
    We have created the apps adapter with default settings as 'apps' user and set the properties Responsibility, RespApplication, Username of <invoke>. Other than that no other settings has been changed.
    Are we missing anything?
    This adapter is able to hit the database in case of 'Field Service' but it is failing for 'Depot Repair'.

  • Can we create our own loops? Basic question.

    Hi,
    Can we create our own loops in Logic Pro. I see in all the tutorials. They are either taking input from external instruments OR use existing apple loops.
    I have tried FL studio demo to create our own loops. But there is no trial version for Logic Pro. Need your inputs before I purchase it.
    Thank you.
    Anji

    Yes you can!
    It is as simple as selecting a Region (optional trimming recommended) and choose the Export command.
    A Dialog window opens up that lets you enter the metadata
    Apple had its separate "Apple Loop Utility" app (now only available in the developer package) that allowed you to create loops in a standalone app. The built-in loop capability in Logic uses part of that engine.
    Hope that helps

  • SQL types over PLSQL types while using Oracle Applications adapter in BPEL

    Use SQL types over PL/SQL types while using Oracle Applications adapter
    in BPEL/ ESB
    This document will be focusing on Oracle Applications adapter. However Database adapter is much like OA adapter (even OA adapter uses DB Adapter), so the readers who are interested to explore DB adapters, can relate things with this document and go further as well.
    Some Guidelines for writing PL/SQL APIs for OA Adapter
    As we know when we create a partner link from the OA adapter wizard it sometimes writes some wrapper script supportive to the OA Adapter WSDL which contains below
    * Object type for PL/SQL RECORD
    * Nested table of the given type for PL/SQL TABLE. For example, the nested table of NUMBER.
    * INTEGER substituted for PL/SQL BOOLEAN
    * Wrapper Script for converting above three set of data types . (PLSQL to SQL and SQL to PLSQL conversion functions)
    In runtime this wrapper script for converting PL/SQL to SQL and SQL to PL/SQL is an extra overhead.
    So the first advice would be to avoid the use of the below as parameters of PLSQL API being called by OA Adapter.
    * PL/SQL RECORD
    * PL/SQL TABLE. For example, the nested table of NUMBER.
    * PL/SQL BOOLEAN
    In other way we can say we should try to use only SQL data types in arguments if we are planning to call any PL/SQL API from the OA Adapter.
    If the requirement is to use a table or record uses the Object type. In place of BOOLEAN better to use VARCHAR or INTEGER what ever fulfills your requirement. Following this guideline we can reduce a huge number of Line of codes to be run each time the adapter being called.
    Generally, Oracle E-Biz standard APIs use PL/SQL record types and table types so when there is a requirement to call these API’s from OA Adapter (this is a common requirement in development), and if we directly browse the API in OA Adapter Configuration Wizard and create the partner link, again a huge number of code is written by the wizard in the wrapper script (a number of extra mapping of fields which are not being used in the interface).
    In this case better would be to create an Object type with only the required fields which are being used in that call and use them as parameters for the PLSQL API.

  • PI 7.1 Adapter Module Development - Identify SOAP Fault Message

    Hi Experts,</br>
    here's a PI 7.1 Adapter Module Development issue I hope you can help me to resolve. It's about identifying SOAP fault messages.</br>
    </br>
    Scenario at a glance:</br>
    Adapter Modules placed in the modules chain at request and response time in a synchronous Scenario:</br>
    - Request: SOAP Axis to RFC </br>
    - Response and Fault Response: RFC to SOAP Axis</br>
    </br>
    The issue is how to identify SOAP fault message in SOAP Axis Adapter Module in the response message:</br>
    The client gets SOAP fault messages like the follwong one:</br>
       <SOAP:Body>
          <SOAP:Fault>
             <faultcode>SOAP:Server</faultcode>
             <faultstring>Server Error</faultstring>
             <detail>
                <ns1:exception xmlns:ns1="http://typen.geschaeftsstelle.pab.barmer.de">
                   <ns1:errortext>bla bla bla ...</ns1:errortext>
                </ns1:exception>
             </detail>
          </SOAP:Fault>
       </SOAP:Body>
    </br>
    </br>
    But when trying to access the tags faultcode and/or faultstring in the adapter module via xPath expressions I do not get them. Obviously the SOAP Fault tags are built AFTER the adapter module has been passed. So my question is:</br>
    How can I clearly/uniquely detect a SOAP fault response message (and distinguish it from a "normal" response message) in my SOAP Axis Adapter Module?</br>
    </br>
    I tried it the following way:</br>
    </br>
    </br>
    // Check Message Payload for SOAP Fault Message via xPath expressions</br>
    ...</br>
    // SOAP Fault Code</br>
    zv_xPression = zc_constXPattern.replaceFirst("&", "faultcode");</br>
    zv_soapFaultCode = XPathAPI.eval(zv_doc, (String) zv_xPression).toString();</br>
    // SOAP Fault String</br>
    zv_xPression = zc_constXPattern.replaceFirst("&", "faultstring");</br>
    zv_soapFaultString = XPathAPI.eval(zv_doc, (String) zv_xPression).toString();</br>
    // check for SOAP Fault Message</br>
    if (zv_soapFaultCode.equals("") && zv_soapFaultString.equals("")) {</br>
         // Create Audit Log entry - NOT a SOAP Fault Message</br>
         zv_msgText = zc_constModuleName + " 0190: xPath - OK! This message is NOT a SOAP Fault Message";</br>
         zv_audit.addAuditLogEntry(zv_msgKey, AuditLogStatus.SUCCESS, zv_msgText);</br>
         zv_faultCheck = false;</br>
    }</br>
    else {</br>
         ...</br>
         // Create Audit Log entry - SOAP Fault Message</br>
         zv_msgText = zc_constModuleName </br>
              + " 0200: xPath - this message is a SOAP Fault Message. " </br>
              + " - Faultcode is: " + zv_soapFaultCode </br>
              + " - Faultstring is: " + zv_soapFaultString; </br>
         zv_audit.addAuditLogEntry(zv_msgKey, AuditLogStatus.ERROR, zv_msgText);</br>
         ...</br>
    }</br>
    ...</br>
    </br></br>
    But zv_soapFaultCode and zv_soapFaultString are always empty (with other payload tags this coding works fine).</br>
    </br>
    Any ideas? </br></br>
    Thanx very much in advance!</br></br>
    Regards,</br>
    Volker

    Hi Alex!
    Like already mentioned I solved my problem by identifying the SOAP exception with the messageClass attribute of the PI message header. Acess code:
    try {
    String zv_msgClass = zv_piMsg.getMessageClass().toString();
    } catch (Exception e) {
    zv_msgText = zc_constModuleName
    + " E0110: Message processing terminated."
    + " Reason: Error while getting MessageClass "
    + zv_dataSource
    + e;
    // create trace and audit log entry (severity ERROR) for exception
    zv_location.errorT(ZV_SIGNATURE, zv_msgText);
    zv_audit.addAuditLogEntry(zv_msgKey, AuditLogStatus.ERROR, zv_msgText);
    ModuleException me = new ModuleException(e);
    zv_location.throwing(ZV_SIGNATURE, me);
    e.printStackTrace();
    throw me;
    }     // end of try-catch-block
    But I do not think this will solve your problem. I am almost sure, that something in your Axis configuration is wrong/missing. If a handler cannot be instatiated then it really may be missing. Have a look at defaultTrace.trc. Maybe you will find more suitable information about the root cause of your problem. Also have a look at NWA under software components and/or application modules if you can find/see your modules.
    But there is a general issue when trying to catch PI fault messages. If e.g. the requestor tries to login with wrong userid/pasword, then you will have no chance to catch this kind of error - at least as far as I know. Because in this very early stage of PI message processing no module is called.
    One last question: Did you develop your own Adapter or just an adapter module? In the first case: Is your adapter started and healthy? Have a look at RWB -> communication channel monitoring.

    Volker

    Thanks ,
    satish.pWith the caveat (as already pointed out by Srini in this thread) that no Oracle product has ever been certified on any "home" edition of any version of Oracle ...
    If I were looking to download any product, I'd start by going to that company's web site (like, www.oracle.com) and look for a tab or link called "download". I'll bet if you did that, you'd find all sorts of goodies.
    But, again, since you are dealing with a "home" edition of Windows, you'll need to start by installing a virtual machine product -- VM Ware's "VMworkstation" or "VMplayer", or Oracle's VirtualBox. Then you can create a virtual machine running a supported OS. Oracle's own Linux (derived from Red Hat Linux) is also free.

    I don't know if this is the answer or not, but at least worth a try.
    A few years ago, JBoss was VERY unforgiving if installed on a windows machine with a space in the path. Most JBoss functionality would work fine, but in some situations, it would complain about the URL, just as it has in your case. It looks to me as if you do have a space in your path. I don't know if they ever got around to fixing it (I filed the original bug on the JBoss bug system). It's at least worth a try, or at least a search through the JBoss site to see if this issue still exists.

    I was asked to make a couple fantasy maps that look hand-drawn. It would be really cool if I could make an isometric mountain brush that puts a different mountain down every time I click it, or a randomized series of mountains along the brush stroke
