I have not worked with Oracle7 but check if this package is available in your version and if yes. You can work with it to fix the problem.
DBMS_REPAIR
DBMS_REPAIR contains data corruption repair procedures that enable you to detect and repair corrupt blocks in tables and indexes. You can address corruptions where possible and continue to use objects while you attempt to rebuild or repair them.

    what should iWell first of all you should stop using EXP for backups, it's quite unsuitable, and start using RMAN instead. Find out more.
    If you have a Metalink account you shoudl read Note:298968.1. But teh headline is there is a bug in 10gR1 which is fixed in 10gR2. This may not help you much. The workaround is to try running the export again later, which may not be any more helpful.

    im importing a dump to a newly created BD and im using 11g. I have already tablespaces and user for the dump to be imported.
    The problems is, i have a total of 5 tablespaces created, all 4 are working well except the one tablespace and im receiving a 959 error(IMP-00003: ORACLE error 959 encountered
    ORA-00959: tablespace 'xyz' does not exist). The log mentions that the tablespace does not exist even if this tablespace exist in the list of tablespace and datafiles created.
    Hope you could help me with this. Thanks

    is there still any reason why? also when i try to drop the said tablespace in getting a response of the "tablespace does not exist" but when i try to create the tablespace it says that "ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1

    尝试了几台服务器都遇到这个问题,暂时没有找到问题的原因

    问题已解决:
    ORACLE error 904 问题是因为回收了public 的dbms_java执行权限,重新授予解决。
    trace=y需要的权限问题: 应该需要grant dba to xxx; 单exp_full_database好像不行,下面是测试的情况
    when the Data Pump TRACE parameter is used in Oracle10g Release 2 or higher, then the user who connects to the database and runs the export DataPump job needs to have the DBA role or the EXP_FULL_DATABASE role (the same applies to Import DataPump with TRACE parameter: DBA or IMP_FULL_DATABASE role required), e.g.:
    GRANT exp_full_database TO scott;
    -- or:
    GRANT dba TO expdp_role;

  • Oracle error - ociexecute(): OCIStmtExecute: ORA-01858

    Using PHP 4.3.11 on Linux and ADODB data abstraction library.
    Oracle client version is 10.1.
    Can sucessfully connect to remote database (version 9.2.0.6 NLS_LANG AL32UTF8).
    When doing a simple select from a view:
    select RTS_LOAD from VW_R_PROJECTED_LOAD_OUTPUT
    I get the error message:
    ociexecute(): OCIStmtExecute: ORA-01858: a non-numeric character was found where a numeric was expected in /opt/devftp/var/www/php/adodb/461/drivers/adodb-oci8.inc.php on line 942
    1858: ORA-01858: a non-numeric character was found where a numeric was expected
    If in my PHP script I directly query the underlying table that this Oracle view is based on, I have no problem.
    Using SQLPlus on the web server I don't have any problems at all selecting from the view, it is definitely a valid view.
    Any clues? If so please email as well as posting response here.

    Hi !
    I think Your view has to_date function in its definition, and this to_date is called without second parameter: date format. Probably NLS_DATE_FORMAT is set to different values in SQL*Plus and PHP environment. You can check it out by running
    select * from v$nls_parameters;
    in SQL*Plus and in PHP.
    If there are two different values You should modify view to use to_date in form: to_date(some_date_string, ‘poroper_date_format’)

    i m using developer 2000 for frontend
    when i try inserting data in the forms developed i encounter an error frm-40508 which says "unable to insert record" the corresponding ora error is ora-02291 which says "integrity constraint violated - parent key not found"
    i have a primary key in my master table which is used to connect it to details table through foreign key.feilds for the primary key in master and foreign key in details are same
    i dont have any such problem if i input data through sql command insert
    plz suggest me some solution to this problem
    thnx
    nipun

    Hi,
    Just try watching is therer ar no unique indexes on that table where u are doing an insert. another reason might be the composite primary key or the combination that might be confusing you.
    U can try out adding an exception block to the trigger and try raise when-dup-val-on-index exception
    Thanks,
    Vishal

    Error: ORA-01578 (ORA-1578)
    Text: ORACLE data block corrupted (file # %s, block # %s)
    Cause: The data block indicated was corrupted, mostly due to software errors.
    Action: Try to restore the segment containing the block indicated. This
    may involve dropping the segment and recreating it. If there
    is a trace file, report the errors in it to your ORACLE
    representative.
    Do you already identify the object corrupted ?
    What kind of backup do you have ?

  • ORA-06540,following statement failed with ORACLE error 6540:

    I was working during the last days on doing a full export/import for the database 9i I used the following script for the export .
    exp system/**** full=y file=/export/export.dmp log=/export/export.log consistent=y statistics=estimate buffer=200000
    And everything went fine, after that I dropped all the objects owners belonging to the tablepaces as i am doing that to solve fragmentation problems
    The issue is during the import and after 50% of the tables were exported successfully I started to receive the following error

    the used script for import is
    imp system/****** full=y rows=y file=/export/export.dmp log=/export/ofsaimport2.log buffer=20000000
    Please note that all the tables and indexes are imported successfully even after the error started to show.
    Is it something serious, should I do the import again with statistics=none or I am just fine now and it something that is just related for the statistics.

    Is really "fragmentation" an issue to justify this table movement? Why do you want to "defragment" your schema? Is it because of performance issues? If this is the case you are wasting your time, if you tried to rebuild the indexes by this procedure, it is also a waste of time. If you are concerned about fragmentation because of "holes" and "islands" of unused space within segments and unused space below the HWM, that is something different, in my personal jargon, I'd rather use the term space reorganization.
    If the data import was successful, then take a look at the dba_objects and verify if the program unit is still there and check its status.
    You may also want to take a look at this note from AskTom that explains what this error means --> http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:571023051648

  • ORA-01578: How can I fix it?

    My Oracle 8.1.5 database crashed today with error ORA-01578:
    ORA-01578: ORACLE data block corrupted (file # 2, block # 699)
    ORA-01110: data file 2: '/oracle/u02/oradata/ORCL/rbs01.dbf'
    How can I fix this error? I shut down the database, but it does not restart, so I cannot log in with sqlplus.
    Thank you in advance for your help.
    Mike Wahler

    If this is a Rollback segments tablespace as evidence suggest, and you do not have backups, you can drop the RBS tablespace and create a new.
    Start by commenting out the rollback segments in the initXXX.ora file for the database.
    run svrgmrl
    connect internal
    shutdown immediate;
    startup mount;
    alter database datafile
    '/oracle/u02/oradata/ORCL/rbs01.dbf' offline drop;
    alter database open;
    !rm /oracle/u02/oradata/ORCL/rbs01.dbf
    drop tablespace RBS;
    create tablespace RBS datafile '/oracle/u02/oradata/ORCL/rbs01.dbf' size <number> M;
    (repeat this for all rollback segments mentioned in the init.ora file replaceing r01)
    create rollback segment r01 tablespace RBS storage (initial 1 M next 1M);
    Uncomment the rollback segments line in init.ora and shutdoen and startup again.
    Regards
    Yngvi
