Oracle forms6i web deployment issue
I am trying to run the form on web. I got the error message FRM:99999: Error 18121 occurred. When i referred the release notes it says implement ORACLE forms Iview interface. can anybody plz suggest me how to do it?
It is a bug for which the last update in the bug report has been done on january the 12th 2010, so think hopes for a resolution are nill.

Oracle Forms6i Query Performance issue - Urgent
Hi All,
I'm using oracle forms6i and Oracle DB 9i.
I'm facing the performance issue in query forms.
In detail block form taking long time to load the data.
Form contains 2 non data blocks
1.HDR - 3 input parameters
2.DETAILS - Grid - Details
HDR input fields
1.Company Code
2.Company ACccount No
3.Customer Name
Details Grid is displayed the details.
Here there are 2 tables involved
1.Table1 - 1 crore records
2.Table2 - 4 crore records
In form procedure one cursor bulid and fetch is done directly and assign the values to form block fields.
Below i've pasted the query
SELECT
t1.entry_dt,
t2.authoriser_code,
t1.company_code,
t1.company_ac_no
initcap(t1.customer_name) cust_name,
t2.agreement_no
t1.customer_id
FROM
table1 t1,
table2 t2
WHERE
(t2.trans_no = t1.trans_no or t2.temp_trans_no = t1.trans_no)
AND t1.company_code = nvl(:hdr.l_company_code,t1.company_code)
AND t1.company_ac_no = nvl(:hdr.l_company_ac_no,t1.company_ac_no)
AND lower(t1.customer_name) LIKE lower(nvl('%'||:hdr.l_customer_name||'%' ,t1.customer_name))
GROUP BY
t2.authoriser_code,
t1.company_code,
t1.company_ac_no,
t1.customer_name,
t2.agreement_no,
t1.customer_id;
Where Clause Analysis
1.Condition 1 OR operator (In table2 two different columbs are compared with one column in table)
2.Like Operator
3.All the columns has index but not used properly always full table scan
4.NVL chk
5.If i run the qry in backend means coming little fast,front end very slow
Input Parameter - Query retrival data - limit
Only compnay code means record count will be 50 - 500 records -
Only compnay code and comp ac number means record count will be 1-5
Only compnay code,omp ac number and customer name means record count will be 1 - 5 records
I have tried following ways
1.Split the query using UNIOIN (OR clause seaparted) - Nested loops COST 850 , Nested loops COST 750 - index by row id - cost is 160 ,index by row id - cost is 152 full table access.................................
2.Dynamic SQL build - 'DBMS_SQL.DEFINE COLUMN .....
3.Given onlu one input parameter - Nested loops COST 780 , Nested loops COST 780 - index by row id - cost is 148 ,index by row id - cost is 152 full table access.................................
Still im facing the same issue.
Please help me out on this.
Thanks and Regards,

If the database is capable of executing 562,238 update statements in one minute, then that's pretty good, don't you think.
Your real problem is in the application code which probably looks something like this in pseudocode:
for i in (some set containing 562,238 rows)
loop
<your update statement with all the bind variables>
end loop;If you transform your code to do a single update statement, you'll gain a lot of seconds.

TEXT_IO.FOPEN not working on web deployed app FORMS 6i
Hi all
I have coded parsing file by using TEXT_IO.GET_LINE but it seems that my file even can't be opened.
declare
file1 text_io.file_type;
filename1 varchar(256);
linebuf varchar2(100);
begin
file1 := TEXT_IO.FOPEN(:CSV.CSV_PATH, 'r');
Text_IO.Get_Line(file1, linebuf);
if linebuf!='blablablablabla' then msg('line is OK!');
else msg('Line is wrong!');
end if;
TEXT_IO.FCLOSE(file1);
end;
On local machine when i enter into :CSV.CSV_PATH "C:\details.txt" the file gets loaded because it gets processing, I can see messages.
When I upload form onto remote web-deployed app server, I enter into path "D:\details.txt" (I cannot write on C:, the files are the same) nothing happens. Does it mean text_io won't work on Fomrs6i web-deployed? How can I investigate this issue.
Thanks in advance
TomeWith Forms Server deployments. TEXT_IO writes the file on the Forms server not the local PC as it did in client-server mode.
Here are some workarounds
1) Download the WEBUTIL add-on from Oracle and use its TEXT_IO package to write to the local file.
WebUtil is an essential add-on loaded with goodies such as a file browse dialog for local files. Its easy to use and is designed to be compatible with other oracle routines like TEXT_IO.
Kudos to Duncan Mills at Oracle for this top add-on - dont leave home without it.
www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/webutil/webutil.htm2) Use the original TEXT_IO (as you are now) to write to a file on the Forms Sever , then display it in a browser window using WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT
3) I remember seeing some some old Java scripts on OTN to write to local PC.
MY APOLOGIES for #3. Most forum posts can be solved with that little gem of an answer. "My sink is blocked" ... "yeah I saw some java code to fix that" -

Hello,
I try to deploy a web application compiled with NetBeans to WebLogic Server Version: 10.3.0.0 (AIX) and I receive an error.
The application can be deployed without any problems to WebLogic Server Version: 10.3.1.0.
The application is the most simple thing possible, consisting in just a JSP page.
Do you have any idea where is the problem?
I've added some details bellow.

Kiran.Hi John,
Yes I have. I even tried on two seperate WebLogic installations. I noticed, even when I create just an ear file (not deploy to server), it gives me the same warnings about removing trinidad. Is there something i'm missing in JDeveloper?
For my installations:
On one Middleware home: I installed: WLS 10.3.5, ADF 11.1.1.5, then ADF 11.1.2 Patch 12611176. configured domain with all ADF/JRF libraries, followed by upgradeADF WLST command. I got same deployment issue.
On another middleware home: I even just installed JDeveloper 11.1.2, configured a new domain with all librearies. I got same deployment issue.
FYI: I also added the two Trinidad JSP Tag Libraries to my View Controller Project. I got same error.
Thank you,
Gavin

Runnig a Forms6i web application on XP sp2 clients
Hi everyone.
I m trying to run my Forms6i web application on XP clients. but it doesn't seem to work. windows 2000 pro clients can use the application but xp clients can't. it seems to be an issue with java. because win2k pro browser have native jvm but xp doesn't have that
can anyone help?
thanksFor clarification to everyone, by "native jvm" we will assume you mean the MS jvm. I don't really recommend using the term native, as the Sun JRE can now act as a "native" jvm to the IE browser. Having said that, the MS JVM is very very very very old. I would not recommend using it for any reason. It is buggy and loaded with security issues. Further, it cannot be correctly used with the newer browsers (e.g. IE 7).
I would recommend that you use Oracle Jinitiator 1.3.1.26 or newer. The latest version is 1.3.1.30. You can also use Sun 1.4.x with Forms 6.x (+newer versions were not certified for non-Oracle Apps users+)
You can download 1.3.1.30 from OTN or Metalink.
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/developer/htdocs/jinit.htm
In order to use Jinitiator 1.3.1.30 the following changes will need to be made to your formsweb.cfg:
IE50=Jinitiator
jinit_download_page=/jinitiator/us/jinit_download.htm
jinit_classid=clsid:CAFECAFE-0013-0001-0030-ABCDEFABCDEF
jinit_exename=jinit13130.exe#Version=1,3,1,30
jinit_mimetype=application/x-jinit-applet;version=1.3.1.30You will also need to copy the new Jintiator (jint13130.exe) into the \jinit directory. This is the file that is sent to the client automatically when it is determined that it is not already installed. If you have non-IE users (i.e. Firefox, Netscape, etc), you will also need to update jinit_download.htm
Be aware that Forms/Reports 6i has long been desupported for non-Apps (E-Biz) users. -
Deployment issue: compatiblity issue with ODP, instant vs full client on PC
After a lot of deployment issues with full client, we thought we had the solution with Instant Client.
It worked great for a while, but now some of our users have full Oracle 11 client installed after installing our Instant Client because of other software that requires full client.
As soon as they install full client, our Instant Client breaks:
Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. (mscorlib)
The type initializer for 'Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleClientFactory' threw an exception.
The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client (Oracle Data Provider for .NET)
Our instant client is compiled with 2.111.6.20, the client is installing a different version (though I tried installing exactly same version does not seem to work either)
I've been experimenting to redirect the version to another assembly but no success.
How can I make Instant Client and Full client co-exist? The whole idea of using Instant was to be independent of other software who needs ODP.NET...
What do you do when 2 apps need different versions of ORacle ODP.NET (e.g. 2.111.6.0 vs. 2.112.1.0)?
Note that I don't have source code access to "our" app, so if it is at all possible through configuration, that is a prefered solution.
I also don't control our customers deployment strategy, they roll out apps over 1000's of PC'sAccording to documentation at [http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E20434_01/doc/win.112/e23174/featConfig.htm]

Configuration File Support
For customers who have numerous applications on a computer that depends on a single version of ODP.NET, the Windows Registry settings for a given version of ODP.NET may not necessarily be applicable for all applications that use that version of ODP.NET. To provide more granular control, ODP.NET Configuration File Support allows developers to specify ODP.NET configuration settings in an application config, web.config, or a machine.config file.
If a computer does not require granular control beyond configuration settings at the ODP.NET version level, there is no need to specify ODP.NET configuration settings through configuration files.
The following is an example of a web.config file for .NET Framework 2.0 and higher:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<configuration>
<oracle.dataaccess.client>
<settings>
<add name="DllPath" value="C:\oracle\bin"/>
<add name="FetchSize" value="131072"/>
<add name="PromotableTransaction" value="promotable"/>
<add name="StatementCacheSize" value="10"/>
<add name="TraceFileName" value="C:\odpnet2.trc"/>
<add name="TraceLevel" value="63"/>
<add name="TraceOption" value="1"/>
</settings>
</oracle.dataaccess.client>
</configuration> -
Copy file from client PC to server in a web deployed application
I have developed one application using Oracle forms 6i, which is deployed on the web server.
I run this application from a client PC in Internet Explorer using internet.
I want to copy one file from the client PC to the web server.
I have done following things
- Created a shared folder on the server and given full rights to every one on this folder
- I use 'net use' command in my program to connect to this shared folder
- I use copy command to copy file from local client pc to server. This copy command I am executing using host command of my programming (PL/SQL: eg. host('copy abc.txt \\server\share\') )
But this does not work.
When I do the same thing in command window, it works.
(ie. Start-Run cmd to open command window and then type the above copy command)
Can you please tell me, how to copy a file from client PC to the sever in Web deployed application?
ThanksI downloaded D2KWUtil from the link suggested by you. It has very nice example demo form. But the documentation provided says following
Using D2KWUTIL in Web Deployed Applications
The use of this library is not supported with Web deployed applications.
In a web deployment scenario not all functions within D2KWUTIL will work. Any function that interacts with the User Interface (such as those in the WIN_API_DIALOG package) will fail.
Any interaction with the O/S by other functions will all be executed on the NT server and will act within, or return information pertinant to, the environment on that machine. For instance GET_COMPUTER_NAME will return the Server’s name, not the name of the computer that the Client browser is running on. Likewise COPY_FILE will copy files in the Forms Server not on the Client.
Functions such as those in WIN_API_BITOP will continue to work without change.
so this will not work in web deployed application.
Any other suggestion?
Thanks -

Kindly help me in this regardSolution:
Workaround the issue immediately by removing the "ns1:" qualification on the operation for the binding.jca entry in the composite.xml and redeploying.
For example:
From:
<binding.jca config="BAPI_COMPANYCODE_GETDETAIL_invoke_3P.jca"
operation="ns1:BAPI_COMPANYCODE_GETDETAIL"/>
To:
<binding.jca config="BAPI_COMPANYCODE_GETDETAIL_invoke_3P.jca"
operation="BAPI_COMPANYCODE_GETDETAIL"/>
