Oracle GL/APPS Database Connection Information

Hi
I have just resfreshed our GL Test DB from our Production DB for the first time. The DB restore and recover went smoothly with no problems. Getting the GL application working is another thing!
I realised that the problem had to be related to the data I had just transferred in, ie different port numbers, hosts, etc, and so thought that running Autoconfig would fix it. I first tried the adchkcfg and it appeared that it would do what I wanted. As you experienced APPS people probably have guessed by now, when I ran Autoconfig it did not configure my test installation, it configured the production installation! Oops! I have fixed that issue but the original still remains - I have test installation with data that points to the production install.
Does anyone know where the parameters are in the DB so that I can change them manually, or does anyone know of the correct method to use to configure the installation without screwing up the production install?
Thanks in advance
Simon.

Hi Sandeep
I am sorry I havent made myself clear.
I have two machines - a production and a test machine. Both have a complete install of the Oracle GL application - so the application and the oracle database, along with their own ASM instances, listeners, etc.
I have restored the test database from the production database without touching any of the other components, including tnsnames, so there must be a reference somewhere in the database itself that indicates that it came from the production server. Its that reference that I need to change either manually, if possible, or through an Oracle tool that I, as an apps newbie, dont know about.
Thanks

    Hello Friends,
I am new to struts & jsp.I am developing a project in struts.I have 1 jsp page called editProfile.jsp.On submitting this page it will call 1 action class. The action class in turn will call the Plain old java class where I have written the logic for updating User Profile.
I have created context-param in web.xml for database connection information like dbURL , dbUserName , dbPassword , jdbcDriver. Now I want to use these connection information in my Business logic(Plain Old Java Class). As we can use context parameter only in jsp & servlets , I am setting the variables of my business logic class with these context param in jsp itself.
now when I am calling the updateProfile method of Business logic class from Action class it is giving error as all the connection variables which I set in jsp for my business logic class has become null again.
I am not getting. If once I have set those variables how come they are becoming null again???Please help me.Any Help will be highly appreciated.Thanx in advance.

    Hi!
I'm having a bit of trouble that I hope you can please help with...

  • IR web client server(0):Database connection information not accessible.

    Hi,
We upgraded our system from Hyperion 9.3 to EPM 11.1.2.2. We mainly use the reporting tools SQR production and Interactive reporting.

I have migrated everything form the old version and haven't changes anything since. It looks like a provisioning issue and I tried looking and comparing everything from the present production(old 9.3 system).
Did anyone else face the same issue before? Any suggestions on where to look into.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi ,
You have to go to my oracle support website link is : https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/MosIndex.jspx?_afrLoop=7929796452543&_afrWindowMode=0&_adf.ctrl-state=113hdvh7xd_4
login with your oracle ID and password you have for your company and search for the document number in the "search knowledge base" which will show up on the top right corner of the page.
The search will show you the document and you can access it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Win7 and now Server Error [2007]: "Database connection information not acce

I support a 8.3.x server with Insight plugin in use. This has worked for some time now with WinXP. The issue comes into play when the company is upgrading users to Win7 stations. First, the zero-admin (download and install setup launch) is failing. The Install window opens but doesn't seem to be able to complete. Then, when we do get the plugin installed via the manual download and install, we then reach a point where the bqy will not connect with the Server Error [2007]: "Database connection information not accessible. Processing is disabled." If we proceed from there, we'll get Server Error [6] PUB_NullArgument errors and empty "Show Values" limit boxes. So it's like the .oce information is not received on the Win7 platform - it still works fine on WinXP installations.
And, I know it can work, as the PC Support personnel were able to get this working on one PC.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Keith

I assume that there has been no reply to this thread. The problem still persists, with intermittent success. I hope that someone can shed some light onto the Server Error [2007]: "Database connection information not accessible. Processing is disables." message.
    Thanks again,

  • Oracle TopLink Workbench - database connection

    Hello all
I'm new at Toplink... I installed toplink 11.1.1.3.0
I'm trying to connect to a oracle database 10g, but I always get a message saying
"The class oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver was not found.
Please ensure that the JDBC driver is on the System Classpath"
I have a system variable called JAVA_HOME, which makes part of the CLASSPATH variable also.
I read that I need to change the setenv.cmd file, but don't know for sure which changes to make?...
    Thanks for any help

    Hello,
Looks like you are using the mapping workbench, which needs to have the driver jar file added to its classpath in order to use it to access your database. The documentation at
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/web.1111/b32441/mw.htm#insertedID2
describes setting the DRIVER_CLASSPATH and other variables needed to get the workbench running.

  • Bc4j.xcfg, database connections and deploying ADF apps to oc4j

I'm trying to understand how to enable custom database connections on a JDeveloper ADF application deployed to a stand-alone instance of OC4J.
All entity objects were created as ADF Business Components.
I looks like the db connection information used by the application is stored in a file named "bc4j.xcfg".
How would I change the database connection information between different environments, changing the server, port and password information from an OC4J instance?
I'd like to use an OC4J defined data-sources.xml file, but am looking for the simplest approach for now.

Tomato tomaato, call it what you will, we now have to spend time (money) figuring out how to change from using the recommended use of a "connection" from Oracle tutorials and in Oracle Press books.
Plus, neither I nor our client can get JDeveloper ADF 10.1.3 to work on OAS 10.1.2.
Oracle has been of little help, other than stating to follow documentation. We followed the documentation at least a dozen times and on three different install of OAS 10.1.2.
Why doesn't JDeveloper have a check-box or button that reconfigures the application to run on 10.1.2 (J2EE 1.3), there is a check-box to change JDK versions (1.4)? This is suspect to me.
We are going to be speaking with the client this week, and have to state the ADF application works, but NOT on OAS 10.1.2.
Does ADF work on OAS 10.1.3, absolutely, but the client is in 10.1.2 and can not upgrade at this time.
I've read in blogs where lots of developers have the same issues without resolution and Oracle should just come out and state that 10.1.3 does not work on 10.1.2.
So my experience has been a mixed bag with ADF, both in terms of the software and customer support from Oracle.

  • Oracle 64-bit and database connectivity toolkit

Hello- I am attempting to connect to an Oracle database by interfacing the databse connectivity toolkit with the Oracle 10.2.0.3 64-bit that my customer uses. I am running LV13 32-bit on their machine. I am unable to connect to the database. Are there any known issues with this type of setup?

There's some discussion about an unsupported method to use the Database Connectivity Toolkit with 64-bit Windows here: http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW-Idea-Exchange/64-bit-Database-Toolkit/idi-p/2170088
That may help with the problem you're seeing.  Something else to consider is the manual (page 1-2):
The Microsoft ODBC driver for Oracle and the Microsoft OLE DB
Provider for Oracle do not support BLOB (binary) data types. You
cannot use Oracle with the Database Connectivity Toolkit for binary
data with these drivers. Instead, use the OLE DB Provider and ODBC

To move/migrate the 11i Apps Database alone means you need to follow the export/import method.
Please refer the note: 362205.1 "10g Release 2 Export/Import Process for Oracle Applications Release 11i"
In general steps to follow the DB migration is :
    1. create the complete export file in source database
2.create a new DB in the target instance
    3.perform the import
4.create the new auto-config and sync with apps tier

  • Changing Database connection on webservice deployment

    Hi All,
I am having a problem changing the Database connection when deploying a PL/SQL generated webservice.
What I have done is to use the WebService wizard to create a webservice based on a database Pl/SQL procedure. During this you have to specify the database connection (which initially is our dev server).
When I come to deploy the service to our production platform I want to change the database descriptor name to point to an existing App Server data source.
This is the problem - the Database Connection information is protected in the properties of the webservice - which means I cannot deploy to our production platform with the connection names I need.
I can change the names of the Connections defined in the Connections tab - but then I cannot access the webservice in JDev.
Everytime I deploy to our production platform I keep getting the development data sources created.
Basically I need to develop a PL/SQL webservice using a Development connection (with a unique connection name), and then deploy to a production application server (10g AS) with a different connection name that points at our production env.
I could create generic names, but that then would make my development system very confusing with the potential of messing up the production platform.
    Anyone got any ideas????
    Thanks and Regards
    Neil

When you deploy the web service to the app server, if the connection to the other database is available from JDev at deployment time, the data sources xml file should be set up correctly with the db connection info. Otherwise this will have to be modified by hand on the app server to contain the connection details for the other DB.
There are 3 files that will also have to be hand modified to reflect the different db connection details. 2 deployment descriptors, web.xml and oracle-webservices.xml which have references to the connection's jndi name, and also one of the JPublisher generated classes (the one whose name ends in 'Base') also has references to the jndi name (to look up the connection from the data source file) which will have to be modified, recompiled and redeployed.
The simplest way to change the connection would actually be to leave everything alone and just modify the data sources xml file on the server such that the same jndi lookup points to a new connection, but it looks like the customer wants to change the name as well.
An alternative to all this hand editing is to regenerate the service against the producion DB connection, test & then deploy the service.

  • New database connection failed with oepe

    Hi everybody,
    @http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E27086_02/help/oracle.eclipse.tools.common.doc/html/install.html#install_oepe
Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse Installation Guide says:
"You can install OEPE using any of the following ways:
Download, and then unzip OEPE plugins directly into the Eclipse dropins folder and restart Eclipse."
This is what I have done,
then when I create a new database connection, and I press the button "test connection" i got a pop up saying "Ping failed" giving details:

    Did I miss something?

The documentation is out of date. The unzip to dropins method is no longer supported. The OEPE zip you downloaded is actually an archived repository. You can follow the instruction for installing using Eclipse Update Manager and point to the downloaded zip instead of the online repository.
I will follow up to get the docs updated.
