ORACLE_HOME Switching in JDev 3.0

Hi
We have an Oracle 8.0.5 client installation as DEFAULT_HOME. Now, I installed the 8i-Client-Software in a different Oracle-Home named 8i_HOME. Otherwise, I can't connect to our Oracle 8i Database with the OCI8 Driver.
With the standard Oracle Home switcher, I can change my oracle home, that means both entries are selectable. But inside the JDeveloper 3.0 under the menu "Tools - IDE Options..." in the Tab "Environment", the new created home is not visible in the appropriate combobox.
Thanks for your help.

  • Please help - We can't get JDEV 9.0.3.1035 to work for us

    Hi, we installed and configured JDEV 9.0.3.1035 and are experiencing this persistent problem, whenever we try to run our app the second or any subsequent time:

    This is happening since we switched from JDEV 9.0.2 which always started up cleanly. It appears that the port is not being released on OC4J server termination. We are not running any other web servers and verified that there are no open ports with netstat -a.

    Hi Raghu, thank you for your response and help.

  • SQLJ translator for ISO/ANSI does not create .SER profile (Jdev 9.0.0 prev)

    The SQLJ translater that comes with JDeveloper 9.0.3 preview does not create profiles (.SER) when running with -codegen=ansi or iso. Thus producing none runnable code.
    It is not possible to set any switches in JDev.
    Previous versions of the translated did produce the .SER files.
    Is there a workaround possible?
    Thanks,
    Robert

    Fo the answer and a workaround look here:

    P.S.: I posted this also in the SQLJ forum.

    Robert,
    My mistake - you are correct, the change I mentioned was put in just after the Preview Release. The .ser files will go into the project source directory in the Preview Release. But this should be the same behavior as in previous releases - are you seeing a difference in behavior between a past release and the Preview Release? Everything up to and including the 9.0.3 Preview Release should put the .ser files in the project source directory. When the 9.0.3 Production Release is available, they will be put into the project output directory instead.
    The fix to put the .ser files into the output directory is not in the translator.jar file. It is in the core JDeveloper code (in jdev.jar). So unfortunately it is not a fix that could be easily dropped into the Preview Release. However, it will be available in the 9.0.3 Production Release.

  • Lockup in JDev

    Start laptop (Dell Inspiron 7500, 650Mhz with 384 Meg ram running NT 4.0.00.1381, SP5?), start JDev 3.1.1.2 (Oracle Server 8.1.5 is running too). click Tools, invoke sqlplus. select connection, sqlplus window opens. Click tools gain, invoke sqlplus. Decide that first sqlplus connection is to wrong db, I Double click its system menu to close 1st sqlplus. 2nd Connection window for sqlplus has disappeared. Two window 9x keys don't function. Mouse doesn't move, control-alt-del does not work. Minimize window does not work. Press power button to turn machine off, since there are no other options.
    Reboot. Check to see if problem is repeatable. Same thing happens, except I try
    control-alt-del first, which brings up task manager, I do "switch to JDev" and up pops the sql*plus connection window. And things are back to normal.
    If (modal) connection window had stayed in front of JDev 3.1.1.2, it would have been easier to know why Jdev was not responding to input, but this does not explain all my problems the first time.

    Have you had any other problems with the Inspiron 8200? I have an 8100 (1.1MHz, 512Mb RAM), and I experienced lockups with the original BIOS. After upgrading the BIOS to a later revision, the lockups at least seem to have gone away. In my case, the lockups would happen doing lots of different thinks - using IE, or sometimes just copying lots of files. Needless to say, it was a very serious problem.
    From what I remember reading, the lockups were due to overheating issues, and the BIOS fixes adjusted the fans so they run more frequently. The problems seemed to occur more often when using third-party RAM (like I was), due to differences in the power consumption and size of the DIMMs. Hopefully Dell didn't build the 8200 with the same problem.
    I would suggest checking the Dell support newsgroups to see if other 8200 users are experiencing lockups with their machines, and if, they are, if there are known solutions.
    If this turns out to not be the case, please let us know, and we can investigate other possibilities.

  • Switch databases during runtime

    Hi
    We work with JDeveloper 10g Build 1929 and Oracle 10g as database.
    We use JDBC Datasources as Connection Type, which obviously means that the database connection parameters are set via data-sources.xml.
    DataSources.xml:
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1252'?>
    <!DOCTYPE data-sources PUBLIC "Orion data-sources" "http://xmlns.oracle.com/ias/dtds/data-sources.dtd">
    <data-sources>
    <data-source
         name="jdev-connection-DB1" username="test1" password="test1" url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@test1:1521:test1" inactivity-timeout="30"/>
    <data-source
         name="jdev-connection-DB2" username="test2" password="test2" url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@test2:1521:test2" inactivity-timeout="30"/
    </data-sources>
    In my application I have an applicaiton module named "TestAM". During runtime, I want the TestAM to be connected to "jdev-connection-DB1" for some time and I want to switch to "jdev-connection-DB2" for some time.
    Is it possible to switch databases during runtime?
    Thanks

    Hi
    I used dynamic JDBC credentials in my application (i.e.) user enters the username and password for the database before entering into the application.
    I was using "JDBC data source" as Connection Type. But dynamic database credentials did not work. But it worked for the Connection Type "JDBC url".
    But if I have the connection type as "JDBC URL" and if I use
    Configuration.createRootApplicationModule
    in my code I get the following error:

    We are now unable to continue running/testing/developing our project. We do not want to have to manually change the port number each time we run it. This problem occurs both in Win 2000 PRO and Win XP Pro. We have tried every combination of OC4J server host names, HTTP Server ports and Web Browser proxy settings.
    A similar problem was fixed in Rel 9.0.2 by changing the Host Name of the embedded OC4J server to localhost from the IP address.
    Would appreciate some help because we would like to take advantage of the new features in your product.

  • 10.1.3 Production - Strange migration issues with OC4J

    Hi,
    first of all my congrats on another great release of my favorite Java IDE. Bad thing is I can't enjoy it as much as I want currently because of the following issue:
    I'm working on a large project based on Struts, Tiles and Spring. The thing was born under 9.0.3 and happily survived several migrations since. It is running perfectly in 10.1.3 EA (OC4J and Tomcat 5.5). So I didn't expect any issues when switching to the production release. As I expected, everything worked without any errors. Fine. But then, when expectingly starting it in OC4J, things suddenly looked a bit different, for the login page came up somewhat naked. In fact, that is no wonder, as the app didn't find its CSS files, images, whatever. I import those resources (JSP 2.0) via the follówing line:
    ${pageContext.request.contextPath}/path_to_css.css
    As it turned out, the pageContext thing wasn't resolved and so contextPath stays blank. Furthermore, the JSPs generated can't get access to session objects via expression language (eg. ${myBean.myAttribute}. JSTL <fmt:>, on the other hand, works wonderfully. Now for the odd part: if I change the JSP while the app is running and
    then hit 'reload' to get it recompiled, the problem is gone. Looking at the .jsps sources, JDev generates something quite different from what OC4J does (the latter is the working version). I've spend the whole day now trying to find out why, including two fresh installs and setting up a test project, for I expected Tiles to be the culprit, but it's not; in fact, the issue also happens with a no-frills JSP page. Now I'm rather at the end of my knowledge. Has anyone had similar problems or knows how to resolve this issue? Any hint would be deeply appreciated :-)
    -- Chris.
    NB. My version is 10.1.3 J2EE (not Studio); I tried both the base one and later the complete version which comes with its own JDK.

    Alas, talking to myself is fun, so I'll proceed. Today, I set up another simple test project (Servlets 2.4/JSP 2.0) with a JSP that just issues the following:
    Context path: ${pageContext.request.contextPath}
    Upon comparing what gets generated, I noticed the following differences:
    1. What JDev generates and what does not work correctly:
    javax.servlet.jsp.el.VariableResolver __ojsp_varRes = (VariableResolver)new OracleVariableResolverImpl(pageContext);
    try {
    out.write(__oracle_jsp_text[0]);
    out.write(__oracle_jsp_text[1]);
    catch( Throwable e) { .. }
    2. The same fragment recompiled in OC4J:
    javax.servlet.jsp.el.VariableResolver __ojsp_varRes = (VariableResolver)new OracleVariableResolverImpl(pageContext);
    com.evermind.server.http.JspCommonExtraWriter __ojsp_s_out = (com.evermind.server.http.JspCommonExtraWriter) out;
    try {
    __ojsp_s_out.write(__oracle_jsp_text[0]);
    out.write( (java.lang.String)oracle.jsp.runtime.OracleJspRuntime.evaluate("${pageContext.request.contextPath}",java.lang.String.class, __ojsp_varRes, null));
    __ojsp_s_out.write(__oracle_jsp_text[1]);
    catch( Throwable e) { .. }
    As you can see, only the latter version contains code to evaluate the EL expression (the italic parts) at all! How on earth does this come from? Is there any switch in JDev to explicitly tell it to generate 2.0-compliant, EL-aware stuff apart from specifying 2.4 in the wizard?

  • Want to integrate multiple adf applications in one adf application

    Hi,
    I am using jdeveloper 10.1.3.3
    I had developed 3 independent adf applications.now i want to create one application above all 3 applications,such that once a person log in can access all three application according to its role.

    If you switch to JDev 11g, you can use taskflows to fairly easily integrate applications together.
    We are doing it and seems to be working so far.

  • Unable to start JDeveloper 10.1.3. Please help.

    Hi
    I am unable to start JDev using jdeveloper.exe. The JDev install root directory is jdevj2ee1013. Recently, i have this problem after i had installed Oracle 10g client in my local workstation which is under jdevj2ee1013. I have setup ORACLE_HOME as the JDev install directory. So, oracle 10g client was installed in this directory by default. After this oracle 10g installation am unable to start the JDeveloper. When i tried to start jdeveloper.exe the logo pops up but after that it shows as it is and editor is not opening.
    Initial error: The version of JDev is certified on JDK 1.5.0. You are attempting to run on JDK 1.4.2_08. JDev may not run correctly on this version of JDK.
    Then i modified the property SetJavaHome in the file called jdev.conf under \jdevj2ee1013\jdev\bin\ as SetJavaHome C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_05
    But now am not getting Initial error as said above. Still am not able to start the JDeveloper.

  • Click event on panelBox

    Hi guys,
    ADF, JDeveloper 10.1.3.4
    is it possible to call another page by clicking on a panelBox?
    (or in general, add event on object like panelBox to call a method in my backing-bean)
    regards,

    Hi,
    You are in JDeveloper 10g and ADF Faces 10g don't support AJAX directly. So you will have to use some other technology like DWR (http://directwebremoting.org/dwr/index.html)
    If you can switch to JDev 11g - there is a very good AJAX support for ADF and quite easy to call method inside backing bean from javascript

  • Is Oracle ADF able to import to IBM WASD IDE?

    We are using IBM WASD IDE on DB2,not ORACLE JDEV--out of my control. But I feel the ADF seems nice, so is it possible to incorporate it into IBM WASD? How if possible?
    It is free if not using JDev, right?
    Thanks.

    Our ADF design time only works as a part of JDeveloper.
    I know of some users who use JDeveloper side-by-side with other IDE's that their company currently prefers more than JDeveloper for their Java coding tasks, although with all of the cool Java coding features in 10.1.3 (which you can taste a sample of in the 10.1.3 preview) we're trying to work on that issue as well. :-)
    You can theoretically use ADF without JDeveloper, inasmuch as the ADF runtime only depends on finding correctly-formatted XML description files and Java classes that extend the correct framework base classes, but it would not be an easy programming experience.
    Perhaps via some code-generation technology it could be made less painful. I think the simplest solution would be to use [Alt]-[Tab] to switch between JDev and your other IDE for now.

  • JDAPI usage in *nix

    Is it possible to use JDAPI on Solaris?
    I understood from compiler log that JDAPI uses JNI so is there a .so library required to run program using JDAPI on Solaris?
    If it's possible, what should I do to avoid well-known
    "JdapiStatusException: _jni_initialize: Failed to create new forms context" problem?
    Set some OS variables or something?

    I've already checked that everything is OK with libraries.
    The call to Jdapi.setFailSubclassLoad(true); executes successfully.
    As far as I can see, it means that native library ifjapi90 loads successfully (and I also tried to add System.loadLibrary("ifjapi90"); to my code - it worked).
    But when it executes the line:
    FormModule formModule = FormModule.open(args[0]);
    it raises that exception.
    On Windows this problem was solved by setting Run Directory=ORACLE_HOME/bin in Jdev project setting. But I need to run this program from Solaris...

  • Can't access otherwise in switch from GUI in JDev 10.1.2 beta 3

    When trying to populate multiple cases of a switch JDev is not allowing me to open the <otherwise> tag from the GUI. It doesn't seem to recognize it as anything but normal text.
    Is there a workaround to be able to access the XPATH assistant or Expression Builder for this case?

    The purpose of otherwise is to take the last route when all the cases you mentioned in the switch are not met. If you want to add 1 more case, you can "right click -> Add Switch Case"

  • Jdev 11.1.2.3 RedHat 5.8 - AF:Switcher Question

    Hello:
    Can AF:Switcher component be used in a page Fragment?
    Also, I'm using the method of creating functional subsystems as adflibs and then combining these subsystems into a master project to generate the EAR.
    Would the subsystems only use page fragments because the master project would use the page template and use the subsystem page fragments in the page template? What is the best way to organize: page templates, fragments and dynamic regions within the context of functional subsystems (adflibs) consumed in a master workspace? Any adivce on this?
    Thanks much for the help.

    What makes you think that it (af:switcher) can't be used in a fragment?
    Watch this video http://download.oracle.com/otn_hosted_doc/jdeveloper/11gdemos/AngelsInTheArchitecture/AngelsInTheArchitecture.html to get an overview of architecture in ADF application. You use case is on of the possible architectures.
