Oracle HTTP JSP gets very slow on 9i

PLateform : Windows 2000
I have changed from Oracle 8i to Oracle 9i. Than I
installed Oracle Chartbuilder from
http://otn.oracle.com/software/tech/java/servlets/htdocs/utilsoft.htm
On the 9i Apache this application runs very very slow
It looks a little bit like he is compiling the jsp
every time it is called.
Does anybody know whats wrong or where I have to configure something ???

1. Are the database parameters the same on each of the systems (ie. LARGE_POOL_SIZE)? You may want to check on any potential bottlenecks during the restore by looking in V$BACKUP_SYNC_IO and V$BACKUP_ASYNC_IO.
2. You can limit the amount of datafiles included in a backup set by setting the MAXSETSIZE parameter. Be careful not to set this value too low. If a datafile is bigger than MAXSETSIZE, then the backup will fail.

  • OAS 4.0.7 on SUSE Linux 6.1 gets very slow or hangs

    Hallo out there,
we installed OAS 407 on a SUSE Linux 6.1 system with ORACLE
Server 8.0.5.0.0. After long time solving installation problems,
we are now able to start OAS via the OAS-Manager html page.
And we are able to launch a simple PL/SQL-application, which
produces the output of a system table. Now, the thing is, that we
can start this application once or twice or maybe a few times
more but then the system hangs or gets very slow, so that only a
hard reboot of the server machine works.
We configured the NR_TASKS parameter in tasks.h to get ulimit to
512 for the user processes. System seemed to work better then,
but maybe only a little bit better.
We have also got problems with domain-names and node-names, which
sometimes are just machinename, then machinename.domainname, then
    again machinename.badister.(none) .
If there is anyone out there who has got the same problems or
    solved them, please tell me.

I have wasted a lot of time trying to get OAS 4.0.7 to run with
a 2.2 kernel... it doesn't work, even after you've fixed all the
problems like to ps command for example, the listeners hang. I
now have it working on a 2.0 kernel, which is reasonably stable,
although I have to do a reboot every few days!

  • IPad gets very slow with large apps installed ?

    Hi,
I have a 64GB iPad 3 and I noticed it gets very slow when I install large apps. Apps larger than 1 GB.
I have bought a number of excellent reference apps, but can not keep them on my iPad together.
I have to delete one before I can install the next or else my iPad runs into trouble.
I can have about 5 large apps installed and no more.
It takes forever to boot, restarts, has delays when typing and crashes all the time with my large apps installed.
Is this a limitation of iOS 6, or is it because I have dropped below 10 GB of my 64GB storage.
Does my iPad use the storage for memory?
I bought a 64GB so that I could use my large apps.
    Sean

10GB of free space should be adequate. Have you done a Reset?
How much space is your Other using? You may be able to reduce.
How Do I Get Rid Of The “Other” Data Stored On My iPad Or iPhone?
    http://tinyurl.com/85w6xwn
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

  • My MacBook Pro gets very slow while doing  work like watching movies and using net .. video gets lag very often

My MacBook Pro gets very slow while doing  work like watching movies and using net .. video gets lag very often and while surffing on net it gets very slow ...

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the problem.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
    Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • ALSA: snd-via82xx - No sound but system gets very slow

    Hello!
I'm using the Onboard sound chip on my Fujitsu-Siemens D1607 mainboard. It' A Sigmatel STAC9758/59 Chip and runs with snd_via82xx module (worked with SuSE 9.1 so far, at least stereo-out but no LineIn). Now when i load the module as discribed in the ALSA howto an unmute Master and PCM i still get no sound, but my system gets very slow (applications start ten times slower, loading websites also takes much more time). But snd_via82xx seems to load without errors.
ArchLinux is uptodate and i'm using a custom Kernel 2.6.7 because i need some special settings for my AVM Fritz!Card DSL.
    Does anybody have any hint?

  • My iMac is getting very slow. What can be done?

My iMac is getting very slow opening Safari or Word, even slower opening iPhoto. I have an anti virus and I have deleted all cookies, emptied the cache ...
What can I do to regain the normal speed? Thanks for your tips.

Hello and Welcome back to Apple Discussions.
One thing many users overlook is maintaining at least 15% of your HDD space free to allow correct operation of the iMac. Back-up data to CD/DVDs and delete large files until you have at least 15% free.
You could also consider a RAM upgrade if you are running more intensive tasks than previously - 256Mb isn't much, and not is an extra 256Mb.
In the extreme, and something I might do every 12 months or so, is to do a complete back-up of all important data and then erase everything and re-install a fresh OS.

  • SQL Developer in CITRX environment get very slow

    All,
running version 3.0.02 BuildMAIN-02.37 of SQL Developer on a CITRIX machine.
We installed that software a while ago and it got very slow. When I ran an SQL statement it took seconds to get the cursor back.
When I deleted the profile on CITRIX for my user it went back to normal.
    Did anyone experience the same?
    Any remedy?
Please let me know if you need more details.
    Thank you,
    André

ok - I see three options:
    1. submit an enhancement request to add such a filter
    2. don't use sql dev for the 'diff' project - do it manually
    3. use a workaround process
For options #2 or #3 you need to repost a related, but similar, question in the database general forum.
    General Database Discussions
    This would be my recommendation:
    1. Use EXPDP to export the metadata only for the databases you want to work with
    2. Use IMPDP to import that metadata on a server/DB dedicated to your DIFF needs
    3. Use a simple script/procedure to drop users that have no objects (easier than trying customize the import)
    4. Use Sql Dev on the resulting DIFF server/DB
You can easily export only the metadata. Then just import it somwhere where you can drop what you don't need. Sql Dev can then handle the rest for you.
Sure - it requires a second DB or two but those will be TINY since you won't have ANY data at all; just the code.
It also gives you a great sandbox to test any scriptss you might want to execute to make two schemas equal.
I won't follow up at all on the above in this forum. If you want more help with a workaround repost an appropriate question and provide a link to this thread in it.
    I suggest
With the requisite licensing you can use Oracle's DBMS_METADATA_DIFF package to do your own comparisons.

  • Oracle 11G - Update is very slow on View

I have big trouble with some Update query on Oracle 11G.
I have a set of tables (5) of identical structures and a view that consists in an UNION ALL of the 5 tables.
None of this table contains more than 20 000 rows.
    Let's call the view V_INTE_NE. Each of the basic table has a PRIMARY KEY defined on 3 NUMBERS(10,0) -> INTE_REF / NE_REF / INSTANCE.
Now, I get 6 rows in another table and I want to update my view from the data of this small table (let's call it SMALL). This table has the 3 columns INTE_REF / NE_REF / INSTANCE.
When I try to join the two tables :
    SELECT * FROM T_INTE_NE T2
    WHERE EXISTS ( SELECT 1 FROM SMALL T1 WHERE T2.INTE_REF = T1.INTEREF AND T2.NE_REF = T1.NEREF AND T2.INTE_INST = T1.INSTANCE )
I get the 6 lines in 0.037 seconds
When I try to update the view (I have an INSTEAD OF trigger that does nothing (just return for testing even without modifying anything), I execute the following query :
    UPDATE T_INTE_NE T2
    SET INTE_STATE = -11 WHERE
    EXISTS ( SELECT 1 FROM SMALL T1 WHERE T2.INTE_REF = T1.INTEREF AND T2.NE_REF = T1.NEREF AND T2.INTE_INST = T1.INSTANCE )
The 6 rows are updated (at least TRIGGER is called) in 20 seconds.
However, in the execution plan, I can't see where Oracle takes time to achieve the query :

What could explain the difference ?
I get exactly the same execution plan (when autotrace is ON).
Furthermore, if I try to do the same update on each of the basic tables, I get the rows updated instantaneously.
Is there any reason for avoiding this kind of query ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated :-)
    Regards,
    Patrick

Sorry for this, I lost myself in conjonctures and I didn't think I would have to explain the whole case.
So, I wrote a small piece of PL/SQL that reproduces the same issue.
It seems that my issue is not due to the UPDATE but to the use of the IN predicate.
As you can see at the end of the script, I try to join the 2 tables using different technics.
The first query is very fast, the second is very slow.
I need the second one if I want to do any update.

It is always a good idea to use the standard ports for a network application. There is no logic in obfuscating ports for security purposes. It also makes network management and dealing with quality of service issues for example, much more complex if you do not stick to the registered application ports.
Also note that if you provide a dotted IP address, only that address will be used for binding the tcp port as a listening end point. This means no connections will be accepted on localhost and other IP addresses of that server. Make sure that this is what is technically required.
    ifconfig
    bond6     Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:26:55:D3:02:B6
Why are you using bonding? How many bonded interfaces are there and now many physical NICs? Bond6 alludes that it is the 7th bonded interface - and at 2 NICs per bonded interface it implies that your server has 14 physical Ethernet interfaces. Which I doubt is true.
RX packets:1309675596 errors:5 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:3Not good to see any errors. What does ethtool stats show? Also check that the physical interfaces are enabled for full duplex. Some Cisco switches do not negotiate it properly and the NIC could be running half duplex.
Also - using bonding... does not seem right. The 1st and default bonded interface should be +/dev/bond0+ - and not bond6.
Check the server's network configuration (the +ifcfg-*+ files in +/etc/sysconfig/networking-scripts+ directory). Suggest that you get a network engineer (or the like) to assist with reviewing the network setup of that server.

  • Probook 4540s HHD randomly gets very slow

Hey, I have hp probook 4540s running windows 7 ultimate 64bit.
Problem is HDD sometimes (after startup) being very slow, transfer speeds according to resource monitor are ~200kb/s, windows startup takes around 30minutes. HDD transfer speeds do not get better no much how long u wait.Cpu and memory usages are regular (=low) while this happens. All diagnostic programs (hp ones) do not find any issues.
First I assumed it being a virus or windows problem so I formatted HDD and re-installed win7, a few days went by and it happened again. Computer has latest bios, and drivers, except update sp59047.exe which should be firmware for hdd this computer has. Running this sp59047 opens window which says hdd is correct for this update.. then it restarts computer which ends up in ms-dos looking command prompt saying failure. This environment has autoexec.bat and auto2.bat which both return 'failure' while i try to run them.
HDD itself cant be seen but it has sticker 'replace with hp spare 641672-001 and 8k12a0. I'd expect software issue but this is fresh windows 7 with only regular stuff (firefox, adobe flash, .Net, directx, teamviewer, and kaspersky antivirus).. when problem first time appeared this computer didn't have any antivirus, so likely kaspersky isn't causing it. So, ideas what might be the problem? Lack of that firmware update? HDD about to fail? Computer still has warranty for 2 weeks, but I hate dealing with dealers when problem is something like this which passes build in-tests and happens randomly. Haven't tried with HP yet thou.

I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this <HERE>

  • Pages gets very slow when working on a long table in a document

    Hello!
I'm working with a table in pages09. it goes over pages. as soon as i want to write some text in the different fields, or, worse, CHANGE text in the fields, pages gets very very very slow.
    why? what can i do?
i tried the wrap/unwrap-function, but it has no influence.besides, if it's not wrapped in the text, i cannot see the whoe table.
    do i make some mistake?
thanks for answers, greetings from zürich

The code used to drive tables is quite the same than the one used by Numbers.
It is slow in Numbers so, it's logically slow in Pages.

  • When i start my hot backup my database getting very slow

    Hi,
I am using following commands for enabling hot backup
    SQL>ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG CURRENT;
    SQL>ARCHIVE LOG LIST;
    SQL >ALTER DABATBASE BEGIN BACKUP;
    Database altered.
    SQL>SELECT FILE#,STATUS FROM V$BACKUP;
    FILE# STATUS
    1 ACTIVE
    2 ACTIVE
    3 ACTIVE
    4 ACTIVE
and using cp -rp command to copy the file (backup copying speed good) but database performance very slow
    How to improve performance ...
    Regards
    Vignesh C

It is very likely that you experience slow performance with ALTER DATABASE BEGIN BACKUP , because until you do ALTER DATABASE END BACKUP , every modified block is additionally written into the online logfiles . Doesn't that happen only the first time the block is modified?
    >
The command was introduced for split mirror backups, when this period is very short. Else ALTER TABLESPACE ... BEGIN/END BACKUP for every tablespace one at a time reduces the amount of additional redo during non-RMAN Hot Backup. There appear to be only 4 files. We don't know how big or sparse they are.
    >
RMAN doesn't need that at all - much less redo - and also archive - generation then.
Furthermore, you can use BACKUP AS COMPRESSED BACKUPSET DATABASE to decrease the size of the backup even more - if space is an issue.
    In short: Use RMAN :-)
Agree with that! Unless the copy is actually going to an NFS mount or something, where I would be concerned whether it is the type of NFS that Oracle likes. I'd also advise a current patch set, as the OP didn't tell us the exact version, and I have this nagging unfocused memory of some compression problems of the "oh, I can't recover" variety.
I'd like to see some evidence on I/O and cpu usage before giving advice. When I used to copy files like this, it would choke out everyone else. RMAN was a savior, but had to wait for local SAN upgrade.

  • Oracle interview questions;; query very slow

    Hai
Most of time in interview they ask..
WHAT IS THE STEPS U DO WHEN UR QUERY IS RUNNNING VERY SLOW..?
    i used to say
    1) first i will check for whether table is properly indexed or not
    2) next properly normalized or not
interviewers are not fully satisfied with these answers..
So kindly tell me more suggestion

Also when checking the execution plan, get the actual plan using DBMS_XPLAN.DISPLAY_CURSOR, rather than the predicted one (EXPLAIN PLAN FOR). If you use a configurable IDE such as SQL Developer of PL/SQL Developer it is worth taking the time to set this up in the session browser so that you can easily capture it while it's running. You might also look at the estimated vs actual cardinalities. While you're at it you could check v$session_longops, v$session_wait and (if you have the Diagnostic and Tuning packs licenced) v$active_session_history and the various dba_hist% views.
You might try the SQL Tuning Advisor (DBMS_SQLTUNE) which generates profiles for SQL statements (requires ADVISOR system privilege to run a tuning task, and CREATE ANY SQL PROFILE to apply a profile).
In 11g look at SQL Monitor.
Tracing is all very well if you can get access to the tracefile in a reasonable timeframe, though in many sites (including my current one) it's just too much trouble unless you're a DBA.
