Oracle ID Card

I am a Oracle Certified Specialist, is there is any ID Card for Specialist, if not then how it can be earned.

Only the Oracle Certified Expert (OCE) and Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certifications have the ID cards associated with them.
That said -- why do you want one?  I have a handful of them.  They sit in the same folder of my filing cabinet where I keep my certificates.  I can't imagine any occasion when I would decide to whip one out to prove I'm an OCP/OCE.

  • Oracle DB on new SUN T5440 servers - any experience?

    I get SUN people all over me to try their new T series...
    Has anyone deployed or tested ODB on SUN T5440 servers?
    Does it show any inprovement against the older M4000 or Sunfire systems (i/o, multi-threading, CPU utilization ... etc') ?
    Thank you in advance
    Hanoch

    This is one approach. Might I suggest that if they are so hot to get you to buy one of these boxes that you try it another way ...
    1. Ask them for a list of references in your area.
    2. Ask them to deliver one to you for 60 days, no charge, for eval.
    My experience with my apps and my workload may be very different from yours. Also, once it is in your possession you find not
    only determine the relevant metrics but it becomes a "used" box if you decide to purchase it.
    PS: Oracle is now in the process of purchasing Sun and that might be a good thing.
    Except that Oracle also wants to keep on very good terms with Dell, HP and IBM so Sun may be expendable.
    Do you really want to make a decision about Sun until you see more of Oracle's cards on the table?
    I would be highly inclined to wait until after OpenWorld.

  • The only Official Java Card OS

    IBM is in talks with Sun about an acquisition, if it happen then JCOP will be Official Java Card OS. good for NXP.

    http://www.sun.com/third-party/global/oracle/
    Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ: JAVA) and Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ: ORCL) announced today they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Oracle will acquire Sun common stock for $9.50 per share in cash. The transaction is valued at approximately $7.4 billion, or $5.6 billion net of Sun's cash and debt.
    OK, no more Sun Java card, Now is Oracle Java Card!

  • Disk Options for Oracle VM server

    We are looking to purchase some new server hardware to run OVM 3.x Servers on. We know from the installation the disk space required on these boxes is only 4G.
    We have been looking at Oracle Servers mainly to be fully supported running OVM Server 3.0.x. The base server disk options would be 2 300G 10,000 RPM drives with a HBA controller to run those disks. RAID 01 them to be protected from one drive crashing. Total Price tag with the controller is about $4000.
    Another option we were looking at is to run some flash card (it appears even Oracle sells a 4G option) but we are not sure how these cards might install into the server. We found some larger 50G PCI type cards from another vendor which might make us feel better than having a production system run on a USB stick ;)
    We can not find any pictures of these Oracle Flash cards, so we don't quite yet understand how they would plug in and are just assuming its USB.
    The part # is RA-S-4G2-USB2
    I wanted to know other people's opinion on the topic. What are others doing for disks inside of the Oracle VM storage which is just used to hold the JeOS. It seems any spinning hard drive RAIDED is a complete waste with the sizes of the disks now.
    Avi, you might know what is actually supported by Oracle VM?
    Thanks for any insights.

    Just buy $10 4GB USB sticks, in my opinion. You can buy 20 of them and still save lots and lots of money. Redundancy right there. :)Would you run a mission critical Production database on a cheap $10 USB stick?
    If the USB stick goes down for whatever reason and you have a spare on the shelf, the OVM server still goes down, and therefore any Guests (including our Production database) would go down. I know High Availability should move the VMs running to another machine. But that will only work if I have enough memory capacity for this guest. The main guest I am concerned about is 128G of RAM. I will probably not have space to move it without making a change.
    We are shooting for 100% uptime and therefore a simple USB stick creates a lot of hesitation. Any more Enterprise level solutions besides the disks?

  • Javacard applet installation, ACR38 SDK (ACOS3 cards)

    Hi,
    I recently developed a javacard applet and finished testing using the Oracle Java Card Development Kit simulator. I am now looking to deploy/install my applet on a real smart card (preferred: SIM card). Hence, I ordered the ACR38 SDK from Advanced Card Systems Ltd., but somehow I got stuck at this install process. I do have my CAP file and I tried selecting the on-card installer. The selection command didn't work, which is obvious as I found out that the ACOS3 smart cards are not java card compatible (please correct me if I'm wrong). Using GPShell commands the only response I get is 6D00: Invalid instruction byte / Command not supported or invalid. Is there any other method that would allow me to install my applet? Does anyone have any experience with this development kit and the respective smart cards?
    I also experimented with SIM cards of different telecommunication providers, but I guess without the proper keys I can't do anything? Do I need to buy a javacard-compatible smart card or can I get it to work with my existing ACOS3 cards?
    I would really appreciate if someone could point me in the right direction regarding the installation process.

    Thanks for your hints.
    I now have a JavaCard compatible SIM (the thing is, I need to deploy my applets to a SIM/USIM to work besides the mobile network functionality). I already came across your GlobalPlatform implementation (OpenKMS) and while I really do like it, it gives me an error on my cards:
    ...\OpenKMS>gp.exe -info

            at openkms.gp.GlobalPlatform.select(GlobalPlatform.java:191)
            at openkms.gp.GPTool.main(GPTool.java:258)
    Do you have an idea why this info command executed on my card leads to an ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException in your code? Whould really appreciate your input.
    I will look into the simulator now, really like the idea and couldn't use jCardSim due to the JavaCard 2.2.1 limitation.
    Thanks again for your comments.

    Hi,
    I have already thought of that process. Thanks anyway for taking time to reply my question.
    There are scenarios in which, i think, this approach can create problem.
    * In case employee forgets to register his/her punch out then our dummy value will remain intact and will be treated as final value. This is because there are huge number of employees and it is quite unfeasible to point out which dummy values is left out without update of real punchout value.
    * As this process of transferring data in to Oracle time card will be "real-time", employees and supervisors will be able to see dummy data as end-time. This might create problem in case someone confuses it with real data. Second, if, in fact, such an occurrence has happened then?
    Thank you anyway. Hope Oracle comes out with something to meet this requirement in future.
    Regards,
    Saurabh

  • Help with String/ and or Array loading and comparing

    Hi all,
    I'm having some problems with trying to find the best way to achieve the following on a Poker Dealing program. I randomly shuffle a 52 card deck of playing cards and deal out 5 cards. Cool...
    Now I have to go back thru the String and determine if my hand of cards contains
    a pair
    2 pair
    3 of a kind
    Full House
    etc etc
    I am trying to do String comparisons (there is an empty compareCards method in my code right now, but I'm getting a bit frustrated as to find the best way to do it... Would an array load in a separate method be a better way???? What I need to do is after I load my hand , is to display a message stating a pair, 3 of a kind , etc etc.....
    Thanks in advance

    } // end method main
    } // end class DeckOfCards
    // class to represent a card
    class Card {
    private String face;
    private String suit;
    // constructor to initialize a card
    public Card( String cardFace, String cardSuit )
    face = cardFace;
    suit = cardSuit;
    // return String represenation of Card
    public String toString()
    return face + " of " + suit;
    } // end class Card

    You could have the original face values as integers, thus Ace = 1, Jack = 11 (it'll be easy enough to display the proper values AJQK if you keep your string array and just display whatever corresponds to the value held in your int array).
    Each player gets an array of five cards. You could the loop through each hand and increment values held in another array by one according to the value of the card. Haven't coded the following up but it should work I think.
    // hand [ ] represents the cards held by that player
    int handChecker [ ] = new int [14]
    for (int counter = 0; counter < 5; ++ counter)
    // 1st card is an Ace. handChecker [1] will be incrementd by one and so on
    // 2nd card is a 9. handChecker[9] will be incremented by one.
    handChecker[hand[counter]] += 1;
    // Loop through the array handChecker to find pairs etc.
    boolean pair = false;
    bollean tofk = false;
    for (int counter = 1; counter < 14; ++ counter)
    if (handChecker[counter] == 2)
    pair = true;
    if (handChecker[counter] == 3)
    tofk = true;
    if (pair)
    // player has a pair
    if(tofk)
    // player has three of a kind
    if(pair && tofk)
    // player has a full house

  • Some questions about CATSEARCH

    Hi a have some teoretical questions :
    I have table :
    PKS1.SYSTEM>select * from ftxt_test;
    TEXT
    BARIBAL LEISURE TRAVEL
    BARIBAL | LEISURE TRAVEL
    B*RIBAL LEISURE TRAVEL
    LEISURE BARIBAL TRAVEL
    I create CTXCAT index :
    create index idx_ftxt_test_text on ftxt_test(text) indextype is ctxsys.ctxcat
    1.
    select * from ftxt_test where catsearch(text, '"BARIBAL..;;;;!!!.LEISURE"', '') > 0;
    PKS1.SYSTEM>select * from ftxt_test where catsearch(text, '"BARIBAL..;;;;!!!.LEISURE"', '') > 0;
    TEXT
    BARIBAL LEISURE TRAVEL
    BARIBAL | LEISURE TRAVEL
    why is result two rows , I thought that result is 0 , necause "..;;;;!!!." is phrase 2.
    PKS1.SYSTEM>select * from ftxt_test where catsearch(text, '*EISURE', '') > 0;
    no rows selected
    Is some possiblity to use sometsing like LIKE '%EISURE'

    Q1: Non-alphanumeric characters are "break" characters by default and are stripped out of both indexed text and query terms.
    Q2: Oracle Text uses the normal Oracle wild cards - % for multiple characters and _ for single characters.
    Beware that using leading wild-cards (eg %EISURE) will be very slow unless you have the SUBSTRING_INDEX or PREFIX_INDEX options selected, as it prevents the use of an index when looking up words in the main text index.

  • Opening a secure web page from oracle forms for credit card validation

    Hi All,
    I searched for the topic in the forms forum but couldn't find a solution.
    Requirement: As per some compliance, our application cannot do a credit card validation from our forms application, instead we need to use a java code which a third party will provide ,it's an iframe (they say, i am layman when it comes to Java, don't know what is it), but they say that, within your forms application you call our iframe do the credit card validation over there get a token of response back from us and use this token as a confirmation in your application.
    Problem: I could not find a solution anywhere wherein i can call a web page from forms. Now, this web page should be modal, i.e. unless i close this page i cannot access my forms application. Please guide me if anyone has done that.
    Secondly if i could make it work, how will i communicate with this external web page, like getting back some token value and use it back in my forms application. I am completely clueless.
    As we are using Oracle designer for generating forms, we cannot use a bean type thing as designer does not have the bean-item type defined!
    Appreciate if anyone could provide me pointers for a solution to this problem statement.
    We are on forms 9i -- Version 9.0.2.11.0

    The simple way to do it is to use a PJC (java bean) + apache httpclient library..
    If you have a webservice than you can use Axis library and wsdl2java to create java classes from wsdl.
    also you can use httpclient library to simulate http protocol (request/response actions)..
    (for example.. you have a credit card number.. you post this number to specified URL and then you parse the response from credit card validation server)..
    Post here some documentation (specification) on how to call the credit card validation .. (maybe it's a secure webservice?)
    Here you have a httpclient library documentation:
    http://hc.apache.org/httpcomponents-client-ga/tutorial/html/index.html
    Also you can implement bean area in designer.. If you need help I can post here how we do it in our project..
    also look here: Call webservice from PJC over https protocol

    The following regards Oracle ODBC drivers-
    You must have an Oracle product with SQLNet installed before you
    can make the Oracle ODBC driver work.
    The version of the ODBC driver to get is supposed to correspond
    to the SQLNet or Net8 Client version you're running.
    You should only install the version of the ODBC driver that
    matches the version of the Oracle client you have. In other
    words--
    ODBC driver     Oracle client
    8.0.5.10      8.0.5.x.x
    8.0.6.2      8.0.6.x.x
    8.1.5.7      8.1.5.x.x
    8.1.6.2      8.1.6.x.x
    Start up the Oracle installer and look at the list of products
    already installed.
    After installing the Oracle8 ODBC Driver and Configuring Net8
    database services, and
    before using the Oracle8 ODBC Driver, you must configure the data
    source.

    The actual problem seems to be that you are using the wrong Linux distribution for you Laptop. Enterprise Linux was not designed for consumer grade hardware. To further troubleshoot the problem you will need to check for relevant output of "dmesg", i.e. check if the firmware and driver that was loaded for the device. You should also check "lspci -v" w/o grep to see more detailed information for the device.
    Are you trying the latest Oracle Linux 6 update 2?
    What is your hardware?
    Beware that no Oracle database products are yet certified for EL6 yet, so you should better stick to Oracle Linux 5 update 7 instead.
    If the purpose of your installation is research and development I suggest to install Windows as your primary OS and run Oracle Linux inside Virtualbox. Check the following link: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/community/developer-vm/index.html

  • Oracle support and compatibility with graphics cards

    I have been going through 2 weeks of hell getting any kind of meaningful information on Oracle linux 6.2 support for various graphics cards. I started with an ATI FireGl card that would not work with OEL 6.2. I am swapping that out in the seemingly futile hope that I can get an Nvidia GEFORCE 8800 to work. Either I am conducting my search using the wrong verbage(hard to imagine, but possible) or totally incompetant! I am here in one last desperate gamble that SOMEONE has gone through this pain before me. Maybe I am asking too much to be able to install 11GR2 on my server and still be able to use a Gnome desktop. Linux Mint worked perfectly with the ATI card, but alas, I could not install Oracle.
    Thank you in advance
    Dean

    From what I understand, the error means that the X Window server cannot find a display attached to your DVI output, which actually means it does not support the DVI port where your display has been attached to. This is a problem of the video driver that simply lacks support for your graphics adapter.
    I suggest to start by connecting only one display and verify it is connected to the DVI-1 port of the adapter. Support for DVI-2 requires support by the video driver.
    Enterprise Linux should work with graphics adapters that are standard with server hardware sold by HP and Dell. Graphics adapters you can buy over the desk from ATI and NVIDIA are usually designed for the end-user desktop/game market and are all difficult to get fully working under Enterprise Linux. You can check the vendor support page to see if they provide driver support for SUSE and RHEL, but I doubt that it will work with the Oracle Linux UEK kernel. Driver software from these vendors are not open source and require a specific Linux kernel. Alternative drivers exist for http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/ for NVIDIA, but your success will vary, in particular if you need to support 2 monitors, which is not a typical server system setup.
    You might have more luck using a Linux distribution for desktop systems, such as Fedora or Ubuntu. What you are planning to install from Oracle? It is easier to get Oracle Database working on unsupported Linux than trying to hack a video driver to support advanced features on an unsupported operating system. Or try a complete different approach and install Windows and use virtualization, like Oracle VirtualBox to run Oracle Linux out of the box. I would prefer to use virtualization even if my desktop computer would run Linux. There are just too many advantages I would not want to miss anymore.

  • Swapping Oracle 7 installation between two network cards

    We have an NT server with two network cards for resiliance. We recently tried to swap over to the second card and run Oracle. Oracle started-up ok, but we could not connect to the database from the Aix/PC clients. The tnsnames.ora points to the hostname of the server not a hardcoded address. The hostfile on both clients and server were updated and the server could be pinged. Is there something built into the initialization config, which points to a specific network card? Any help gratefully recieved.

    Is the network up? (sudo ifconfig -a). Can you see eth0?
    From a terminal session on the server, can you ping localhost, your ip address, gateway?
    OL 5.7 boots the Oracle UEK kernel by default. You can also select the original Red Hat Kernel at startup. Does it make any difference?

  • Does Oracle Portal Support text/v-card content Type

    I would like to display some text/v-card format information (generated by servlet) within the portlet. And I defined in the porvider.xml something like this:
    <renderer class="oracle.portal.provider.v2.render.RenderManager">
    <contentType>text/x-vcard</contentType>
    <showPage>/servlet/VCard2</showPage>
    </renderer>
    I was always get the error messages as "Renderer improperly configured. It's missing a showPagefor type".
    please give me some suggestions on how to render the vcard content within the portal page.
    Thanks a lot

    Can you let us know the config.cfg entry in your Environment for SearchIndexerEngineName.
    Is it SearchIndexerEngineName= DATABASE.ORACLETEXTSEARCH ? It should be as below

  • Oracle RAC with operating system virtual network cards

    Hi,
    I have two servers with four network cards each, two for public and two for private network. Each public card has own IP-address and the both have the virtual IP-address (from OS, not from Oracle Clusterware). Each private card has own IP-address and the both have the virtual IP-address. I have full redundancy for network cards. How should define Oracle Clusterware VIP-address for each machine?
    Can somebody write me sample /etc/hosts file for this configuration?
    Thanx,
    Jacek
