Hi,
>>should i remove these folders or only the files in folders?
You want remove all Oracle Clients and any Oracle Software on your machine right ?
Then, remove HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE key, and perform an Oracle 9i Client installation.
>>Secondly 9i client installation i can get OEM?,
The Oracle 9i client has the OEM but if you want connect to Oracle 10g from it, then you just get connect using the SYS user.
Cheers

  • /u01/app/oracle/jre/1.1.8/JRE

Where should this link point to right now, mine points to itself. When I launch via ./JRE, I get error:
To many levels of symbolic links. I think this is becasue JRE links to JRE which links to JRE which...you get the picture.
Anyway, I am wondering where this is supposed to link to. I suppose I could just link it to:
    /u01/app/oracle/jre/1.1.8/bin/jre
or should this point to the JRE external to oracle in /usr/local/java/bin/jre?
Interesting, why the need for 2 jre's on one system. Could be confusing if they were different versions.

  • Installing Oracle JRE

Currently I'm using this package from the AUR.  I'm trying to install it with:
    $ makepkg -s
    # pacman -U jre-7.9-1-x86_64.pkg.tar
    However, this is returned:
    looking for inter-conflicts...
    :: jre and jre7-openjdk are in conflict (java-runtime). Remove jre7-openjdk? [y/N] y
    :: jre and jre7-openjdk-headless are in conflict (java-runtime-headless). Remove jre7-openjdk-headless? [y/N] y
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
    :: jdk7-openjdk: requires jre7-openjdk
Why does it complain about openjdk if I'm trying to install oracle jre?  Thanks for any help!

Had some mess too when I switched from jre7-openjdk and jdk7-openjdk to Oracles jre/jdk a couple of months ago.
Not sure if the jdk7-openjdk will work with Oracles jre and it's PKGBUILD points out jre-openjdk as a dependency.
I would suggest that you install Oracles jdk instead, it provides both jre/jdk and you'll be replacing both openjdk packages
and that should solve the dependency problem for you (between the jdk and jre at least).
When I switched I first removed both jdk7-openjdk and jre7-openjdk, and you are probably in the same spot as I was
then (sitting with a bunch of installed apps that depends on java).
    So I used
    pacman -Rdd jre7-openjdk
    pacman -Rdd jdk7-openjdk
    to remove them.
By doing that I "broke" all installed packages that depends on java but since I was going to install the new jre/jdk directly
after that it wouldn't matter anyway (installing the new jre/jdk fixes it again).
Not sure if it's the best way to do it but the idea of first removing all packages that have
a dependency to either the jre or the jdk package and then re-install them again (after installing the new jre/jdk)
didn't sound appealing to me... guess I'm just lazy

  • Launch apps with oracle jre 7

With Apple discontinuing support jre 7 on its mountain lion, i am trying to find a way to launch my mac apps with oracle jre7. There are two situations occuring to me.
    1. Oracle jre7 could be before hand installed and my app should be able to detect and launch
2 Or Bundle the oracle jre 7 with my Mac app and get into lauching it on mountain lion without any issues.
Is there a better way or apple providing support in this regards.
    Help appreciated.

    Thanks NickClark_uk,
I am able to install the java 7, but the Mac app i am trying to launch is unable to detect the oracle jre 7 and works fine with app store jre's. So we may need to bundle the jre or modify our apps to detect the installed JRE.
I was looking at what would be the better approach in order to have my Mac app run with oracle jre 7.
    Thanks

    Everyones Oracle Linux Problem solved!!!
Here's something Linux people should relate to: Use what works!
    what works?
NT works! NT works great with 8i AND OAS.
    No hassles at all!
Up and running within one day!!!!
    Guaranteed!
U don't see a NT forum here with people having ridiculous install problems like Linux people?
Perhaps Oracle should moderate this newsgroup and even give an authorative answer or two?
    null

I have switched our development and soon production databases to Linux because it runs like a charm. Fast and efficient, no problems. The installer has been a problem no doubt because Oracle put less of an emphasis on debugging their Linux installer than their idiot-proof NT installer.
By the way, I was able to circumvent installer problems by just linking svrmgrl to svrmgrlO; this avoided the dreaded segmentation fault and kicked everything open just fine.
BTW, about NT; what makes an OS is not how well everything works when everything is going well, but how bad it gets when something goes bad. For instance, the segmentation faults on Linux weren't a problem because I just picked up and continued; on NT you'd have to restart the whole system...not a pleasant feature.

  • Oracle 8.1.6 jre problem on Linux Mandrake 7.2

I tried to install Oracle 8.1.6 on a Linux Mandrake 7.2 distribution using bash (sh is a link to bash) as shell and glibc 2.1.xx (this is the last Mandrake distribution)

I found jre in the stage subfolder and tried to run it manually but i fails (maybe java classPath). I tried even installing jre 1.2.2. the same failure.
I tried also with ksc & csh: nothing.

  • 1.4.2_13 Oracle Forms - Problem after change of JAR, JRE does not respond

    Hi,
We use JRE version 1.4.2_13 as this was the certified version for Oracle Forms 10g.
We recently implemented a new module that uses a Java Bean. We use Java Beans already but this one allows the user to save from an Oracle Form to there PC. Because of this we had to re-sign the JAR we use. When the user tries to go back in the system it freezes and does not allow the user to Allow permission again.
We then have to proceed to either uninstall the JRE and reinstall it (This then allows us to grant permission)
    OR
We need to clear cache, remove all original certificates
Then this allows us to allow (grant always) access.
I am after a slicker way to put this new bean in place without asking everyone of our users to mess around doing the above.
Is there anyway to invoke an auto uninstall or an auto clear cache, clear certificates
Is there a way to stop it freezing up when first entering?
    Thanks in advance..

    anyone?

  • [SOLVED]Oracle jre / jdk conflicts

    Hi,
I just recently installed arch for the first time and is attempting to replace OpenJDK with the version of Oracle.
I downloaded the jre and jdk from AUR, but I get conflicts between them.
The JDK is needed for development purposes.
I extracted the files from the tarball, ran

and tried to use pacman for the rest. The process is listed below.
The problem is, it seems JDK and JRE are in conflict, which sounds weird to me.
I read around on the forums, but I didn't find a problem similar to this. I take the chance I didn't miss anything and asks for help instead!

  • Oracle JCE problem

    Hi,
I am recently trying to enable SSL support for OAS which I sucessfully managed. As a next step I wanted to get mutual authentication up and running. Which also I got setup. After this my issues started to popup.
I used the oracle wallet manager to create self signed certificates to use in the setup. Java's JCE I found is no good with PKCS12 that oracle wallet manager uses. So I went for an alternative from Bouncy Castle (BC). It works fine but only for a wierd case which is completely wrong. What goes wrong with BC is that is does not find the truststore in the client wallet (although it is there). But if as a truststore I give the path to the server's wallet which contains the server's certificate, everything works fine. Any idea what could be causing this. I just figured it must be some other format of the pKCS12 certificate the Oracle wallet manager generates and the BC JCE is reading.
Then I found out at java forums someone saying that phaos was excellent for PKCS12 certificates. Going there I found out its oracle's sdk now and seeing that I though using oracle's JCE will solve all my incompatability problem. Anyways turns out the Oracle JCE uses the JCE 1.2.1 framework which works with the JDK 1.2 uptil 1.3. Any when I use it with the my JDK 5.0, I get a Stackoverflow exception. I need to use jdk 5 and I need a solution for https. Any suggestions of how should I proceed.
    Regards,

    Hi,
Using eclipse I changed the jre environment to 1.2 and 1.3 to see if that was really the problem. But I still get the stack overflow exception. I paste a portion of this exception as below and if anyone is interested I can post the complete stack trace as well :

    vtl-rac1 : CRS-1019: Resource ora.vtl-rac2.ons (application) cannot run on vtl-rac1
Start of `ora.vtl-rac1.ons` on member `vtl-rac1` failed.
    vtl-rac2 : CRS-1019: Resource ora.vtl-rac1.ons (application) cannot run on vtl-rac2
CRS-0223: Resource 'ora.VMRACDEV.db' has placement error.
CRS-0215: Could not start resource 'ora.vtl-rac1.ons'.
CRS-0215: Could not start resource 'ora.vtl-rac2.ons'.
I am thinking that all of this is caused by the various issues I had with the install. If I am incorrect, then please let me know. If it is true, I would like to know if there are any 11g docs on how to clean up a failed clusterware upgrade. Any advice would be greatly appreciated on any of the situations I am having.
    Thank you

    Hi Chandra,
Did CVU report any problems before the upgrade? No, there were no errors reported by CVU before the upgrade.
I don't there is note out there for cleaning 11g CRS
install...and I think can very use the 10g CRS note -
239998.1.Yeah I might have to go that way.
I have both the 11g CRS install and upgrade from 10g
    to 11CRS at

see if it helps.Yup, your guide is very simple, clear and error proof :) That's how mine when pretty much except right around 75% I started getting these strange errors of files not being able to be transferred to node 2. Anyways, it shouldn't be a problem as none of those errors were configuration related...or else I would have a messed up cluster.
Well, I actually rebooted both machines and now the whole CRS stack is up!! So I guess I am ok. We'll just have to wait and see.
Thanks for your help Chandra...I always appreciate it.
