Oracle Lite Install

I just downloaded oracle lite 5.0.1 and unzipped the file.
I then executed the setup.exe and got an hour glass for a few seconds, and then nothing.
I repeated this many times - nothing.
I tried downloading the 5.0 version and had the same result.
Please help,
John

Well after much searching..I finally found a solution. So I thought I would post it in case someone else had the problem.
* Start the Install - All should go fine until the Linking phase
* You will get an error;"Error in invoking target install of makefile $ORACLE_HOME/sqlplus/lib/ins_sqlplus.mk" - Do not respond to the message yet
* Open up another shell
* Verify that $ORACLE_HOME is set correctly (and not pointing to a DB home if you have one)
* Edit $ORACLE_HOME/bin/genclntsh and remove the line that says LD_SELF_CONTAINED.
* Execute the newly edited file (It creates $ORACLE_HOME/lib/libclntsh.so
* Press retry on the error message
Note: This works for the 'Lite' version as well as the Enterprise version

  • Stream Corrupted Exception using ORACLE LITE 8i

    Our application on the client needs to insert word documents in the form of BLOBS in the ORACLE I LITE database.
    I am using the below JDBC driver to store and retrieve the BLOB from the database and i have the ODBC driver for the Oracle LITE installed on the machine.
    String jdbcURL = "jdbc:Polite:egcaspacclient";
    String uid = "system";
    String passwd = "***";
    String driver = "oracle.lite.poljdbc.POLJDBCDriver";
    But i try to read the BLOB from the database i am getting a streamCorrupted exception while reading the StreamHeader. I am using ObjectInputStream and ObjectOutputStream to store and retrieve the BLOB information.
    I infact tried the same code with the ORACLE8i database and it is working.
    I read some documentation that Oracle LITE supports storing the BLOBS.
    I am wondering if anything wrong with the driver i am using.
    Also the datatype in the BLOB column of the database is showing as undefined. But i see some information is stored to that column when i insert the BLOB.
    I would appreciate if anybody provide with some clues.
    Thanks
    Surendra

    Hello,
    I ran into that problem, too. My solution was to uninstall all
    Sun Java parts (JDK and JRE) and reinstall JDK1.2.2
    ("jdk1_2_2-win.exe")from scratch. My CLASSPATH includes only the
    standard classes you can find after a normal OLite4-Installation
    (see OLite4 installation notes or send my an email). And check
    your environment variables for references to old Java parts.
    Now Lite Designer runs with POLITE.odb and my own databases and
    yes - it is slow, but it is Java, so this should explain
    everything.
    What I do not know is where that password dialog came from.
    Sometimes it reappears, but not in my own databases.
    I hope that this will help you.
    Bye
    Martin Hanff.

  • Oracle Lite Capabilities

    I have a few small questions around the capabilities of Oracle Lite within certain environments:
    1) If i have multiple connection mediums ie . GPRS / Wireless LAN / Cradle etc - is there a way to dynamically choose which one to use - Can i set up a order of preference. If i'm in the office and the device is in the cradle it would be silly to use GRPS to sync for example. How can i setup Oracle Lite to use the cradle as default , fall back on the Wireless LAN and then GRPS if neither of the above are available.
    2) Can i set a pocket PC device to automatically poll for a connection - check whether it can sync with the server. Not have the user initiate the sync. On Win32 you have the mobile client which you can configure - does that run on PocketPC ?
    3) Memory cards - I would like to use the memory card as the default data store for my Oracle Lite install and database files. If the device loses it's primary configuration the database and binaries should be intact ? - how do i manage this ? Is there a way to address the memory card in the install parameter file to tell it to drop the binaries / data files there.
    4) Once i sync recover the device - with the data / binaries intact - what would the result be on re-installing Oracle Lite from the Mobile Server? Would it overwrite my existing configuration ? or just update / sync ?
    Your answers would be greatly appreciated.

    from the below, i assume you are using a pocket PC client (PDA?) if so
    1) nothing directly to do with Oracle lite. You need to look at the connections/internet connection default settings on the device itself. This should allow you to set the switch over as you require. lite only uses the active connection for synchronisation, it relies on the device to establish the connection itself
    2) you would normally want the user to initiate, as you may have some problems with uncommitted data if the device is in use, and these would not be transferred. If you hit a complete refresh required situation it could cause data to be lost. We have an unattended facility in our application that uses a timer to count down to a timeslot defined in the database, it then uses the API to attempt a sync, and if this fails goes into a retry mode. You could try something similar, but make sure all data ia committed
    3) you do not say what version you are on, but in 10g on a PDA, if there is a memory card present when it starts the sync, then it should use this by default (in fact you have to take it out for it to put the files in main memory). You can change this by looking at the settings in the odbc file in the orace directory - this has the database file locations. simplest solution is to remove all odb files and odbc and polite, put in the memory card and sync to re-create the databases
    4) to re-install oracle lite keep a copy of the cab file on the memory card. run this to re-build oracle lite. I am not 100% sure, but it would be worth keeping a copy of the odbc file on the card, and copying this back to orace when recovering as well

  • Unable to install Oracle Lite 10g on Windows 7 64-bit

    I've tried installing Oracle Lite 10g on my Windows 7 64-bit computer but I get a message saying "JDK is not installed on machine". I even have Java installed on my computer too.
    Any ideas what could be causing the issue?
    Thanks
    Gareth

    Oracle lite 10g is not supported on Windows 7.    The core issue is you are running on an unsupported platform.
    You have may have to go in the docs and figure out what JDKs were supported, i think 1.4 and 1.5. and try
    installing one of those and maybe you can get uninstall to work.   This is just a guess though.
    thanks

    The following procedure describes the steps required to deploy the DbAdapter.rar file using admin_client.jar:
    1. Copy the following libraries from server.xml in an OC4J_SOA container to a server.xml file for a new
    container:
    oracle.bpel.common
    apache.junit
    oracle.db.lite
    apache.commons
    apache.jdom
    apache.slide
    For example, for oracle.bpel.common, copy the following extract from one server.xml to another and
    do the same for all other libraries:
    <shared-library name="oracle.bpel.common" version="10.1.3">
    <code-source path="D:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_5/bpel/system/classes"/>

    2. Restart the container to make sure that server.xml was updated correctly.
    3. From the configtools.log file find the opmn port number, for example:
    deployer:oc4j:opmn://dimak.au.oracle.com:6012/home
    dimak.au.oracle.com - is the machine name and
    6012 - port number
    4. Launch a new command prompt
    and set path and classpath, for example:
    set PATH=$ORACLE_HOME\jdk\bin;%PATH%
    set classpath=.
    where in the classpath there is only one entry - the dot, which stands for the current directory.
    5. change directory to the following:
    $ORACLE_HOME\j2ee\home
    and run the following command (written all on one line) to deploy the DbAdapter:
    java -jar admin_client.jar deployer:oc4j:opmn://dimak.au.oracle.com:6012/test oc4jadmin
    manager1 -deploy -file $ORACLE_HOME\integration\esb\lib\DBAdapter.rar -deploymentName
    DbAdapter2 -parent default
    where
    * dimak.au.oracle.com should be substituted with your machine name
    * 6012 should be substituted with your port which you found in step 3
    * test is the name of the container you want to deploy the adapter to
    * manager1 should be substituted with your oc4jadmin password
    * $ORACLE_HOME\integration\esb\lib\DBAdapter.rar is the location of the DBAdapter.rar file
    * deploymentName DbAdapter2 - should be different from DbAdapter, as that name is already used in the OC4J_SOA container.

    Hi,
    I am facing a strange problem when installing Mobile Field Service Laptop agent "Oracle Lite" on my laptop.
    When I run the setup, it asks me username and password, after entering the information, when I proceed, I see setup window which displays below messages
    "Authenticating with server... "
    Please wait. This may take several minutes ...
    Then it hangs for several minutes, approx 5 to 10 mins, and then gives message
    "Could not connect to server: HTTP/1.0 502 Bad Gateway"
    I am not able to proceed with setup.
    But none of my other colleagues are facing this issue, even though the network, proxy settings and java version are same.
    Any idea about this error?
    Regards,
    Mohammed

    I thought polite.ini us required....how r u using MFS without polite.ini?

  • How to install the oracle lite mobile server?

    hi,every one!
    I follow the wizard of the oracle lite mobile server,then
    pop the window let me input the "host name""port"and "net server name",I have install oracle 9i,and establish a database named "oradb",establish an server named"oradb",the service can be listened and the port is "1521",but in the installation when i input the up numbers, it
    tells me that "invalid server name",how can i do?
    somebody that do me a favor tell me how to install the oracle 9i lite mobile server,it must be preciated!

    Andy,
    It sounds like you are not properly connecting to the back end Oracle instance when Lite attempts to install the Mobile Server Repository.
    Before attempting a re-install, why don't you try connecting to the same instance using SQL/Plus with the a connect string specifying hostname:1521:SID. If you are not able to connect you need to determine why.

  • Oracle 8i Lite install

    I have a question..
    I'm trying to find info on how to install and configure this. I have a copy of both that and of JDeveloper, and am trying to install it but once installed, I can't connect, likely due to configuration problems.
    Is there anything preventing Oracle 8i Lite from running on XP? Can I run both it and JDeveloper on the box?
    I get either a Listener error message or incorrect password message. I haven't seen anything (ever) where to set the user/pwd configuration, and didn't think that was done within the TNSNAMES.ORA file, but If I'm wrong please correct me.
    I also can't find anything on the site regarding Oracle 8i Lite. Seems like they've taken every reference off.
    Would I be better off downloading and installing that OracleXE 10 express version?
    I'm basically a Java developer trying to develop some small apps at home or preliminary apps that I would later redo at work, where I work with Oracle 9i each day.
    Please provide any suggestions if you can!
    Thanks

    Hi.
    I don't have all the answers you're waiting for, but these metalink notes might be of any value:
    Oracle Lite:Overview of the Differences between Oracle Server and Oracle Lite
    Note:94484.1
    Oracle Created Database Users: Password, Usage and Files References
    Note:160861.1
    10g asks you to provide password at database creation time.
    I get either a Listener error message or incorrect
    password message. I haven't seen anything (ever)
    where to set the user/pwd configuration, and didn't
    think that was done within the TNSNAMES.ORA file, but
    If I'm wrong please correct me.
    1. Does not listen for Sql*net connection: Oracle Lite is designed for a
    single user so there is no listener nor Sql*net for client connection.
    Olite only accepts local odbc connection.
    I also can't find anything on the site regarding
    Oracle 8i Lite. Seems like they've taken every
    reference off.
    Would I be better off downloading and installing that
    OracleXE 10 express version?
    IMHO, last two questions are good reasons to use recent DB releases.
    where I work with Oracle 9i each day.
    Another good reason.

  • Where is Oracle Lite DB installed? In Soa Suite inst. dir? Service needed?

    As far as I know Soa Suite can use a separate "full" Oracle (Express) DB.
    However user can omit this separate DB and use the built-in "Oracle lite" Database.
    Is this Oracle lite DB installed in the installation directory of Soa Suite or somewhere else on the hard disc?
    Does it need a Win service to run (similar to "full" Oracle DB) or does it run on-demand
    in AppServer?
    Peter

    you can go from olite to full DB, but not the other way round. When you do this change you may lose state in your inflight messages.
    to migrate from olite to Oracle DB do the following:
    1.) Ensure that the new target database is running.
    2.) Run IRCA script to create schemas for BPEL, ESB and OWSM in the new Database:
    Eg: irca all "localhost 1521 v102" welcome -overwrite3.) Make a backup of the file:
    ${OC4J_HOME}\config\data-sources.xml4.) Change the following ESB and BPEL connection pools to point to new DB resource.
    * BPELPM_CONNECTION_POOL
    * ESBAQJMSPool
    * ESBPool
    You can use either Enterprise Manager Console to perform this changes or edit the file: ${OC4J_HOME}\config\data-sources.xml
    Below is a sample of configuration for BPELPM_CONNECTION_POOL:
    <connection-pool name="BPELPM_CONNECTION_POOL">
    <connection-factory factory-class="oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleDataSource"
    user="orabpel_OracleAS_1"
    password="orabpel" url="jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:xe"/>
    </connection-pool>5.) If you are changing from Olite DB to Oracle EE, look in the project's build.properties files for DB_URL and change DB_VENDOR from "olite" to "oracle"
    DB_VENDOR=oracleotherwise no change is neccesary.
    6.) Update ESB Metadata - Log into ESB schema (ORAESB) and change the value of DT_OC4J_HOST and DT_OC4J_HTTP_PORT to match your environment Hostname and Port and by running the following SQL script:
    insert into esb_parameter values('ACT_ID_RANGE', '400');
    insert into esb_parameter values('DT_OC4J_HOST', 'soainternal.mycompany.com');
    insert into esb_parameter values('DT_OC4J_HTTP_PORT', '7777');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY', 'com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_DEFERRED_TCF_JNDI', 'OracleASjms/MyTCF');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_DEFERRED_XATCF_JNDI', 'OracleASjms/MyXATCF');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_DEFERRED_TOPIC_JNDI','OracleASjms/ESBDeferredTopic');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_ERROR_TCF_JNDI', 'OracleASjms/MyTCF');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_ERROR_XATCF_JNDI', 'OracleASjms/MyXATCF');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_ERROR_TOPIC_JNDI', 'OracleASjms/ESBErrorTopic');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_ERROR_RETRY_JNDI', 'OracleASjms/ESBErrorRetryTopic');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_ERROR_RETRY_TCF_JNDI', 'OracleASjms/MyXATCF');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_MONITOR_TCF_JNDI', 'OracleASjms/MyTCF');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_MONITOR_TOPIC_JNDI', 'OracleASjms/ESBMonitorTopic');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_CONTROL_TCF_JNDI', 'OracleASjms/MyXATCF');
    insert into esb_parameter values('PROP_NAME_CONTROL_TOPIC_JNDI', 'OracleASjms/ESBControlTopic');
    commit;
    select * from esb_parameter7.) Restart the SOA container and verify the opmn and J2EE container logs for any errors.
    cheers

  • How to install Oracle Lite ODBC driver without connecting the mobile server

    My Oracle Lite version is 10g R3.
    I am using branch office version application.
    I wanted to connect oracle client database(.odb file) via Lite DSN in a windows XP machine without installing the client in that device.
    Some of my users wanted to access the client database from backend which requires a DSN entry in that device.Oracle Lite ODBC gets registered in the device only when we do a setup from the mobile server or if Oracle 10g Lite MDK is installed.
    I do not want either of this to be done in my user PC. I wanted a ODBC utility which will register oracle Lite ODBC Driver (Normal & Cleint) in the user PC so that i can manually create and configure the DSN.
    Does anyone have a solution for this?
    Regards,
    Ashok Kumar.G

    Dear Sir,
    Yes, you can find the Driver here

  • Oracle apps configuration required to install oracle lite database

    Hi,

    Dear Experts, (I'm far from expert, but I possess enough shreds of knowledge to answer your question, so here goes. ;-) )
    1a)
    My server has Oracle version 11.1.0.6.0, but the matrix says it wants 11.1.0.7.
    I should get a warning right?
    Can I just proceed with the install, over-riding the warning?
    1b)
    If so, what is the procedure to install into the existing database?
    It wasn't obvious in the (150 page) install docs. The EBS install delivers its own ORACLE_HOME for the database. There isn't an option to install into an existing database as far I know. The installer will ask where to put the new ORACLE_HOME for the EBS database. You might get a warning if you try to install to a pre-existing ORACLE_HOME, and I don't recommend ignoring that warning. The result will either be ugly immediately or, even worse, ugly later when it's harder to figure out why. ;-)
    Do an upgrade?Won't really help. The ORACLE_HOME that's bundled with the installer usually comes with additional patches pre-installed, as well as EBS-friendly configuration options. You're much better off taking what it gives you so you can get down to the real fun of learning EBS. :-)
    Or, do regular install, but not Express/Rapid Install?I recommend doing a Vision install for learning EBS.
    Can I choose not to install the database software?Nope (unless my memory is really that bad), and there's no real benefit to doing so. All you'd save is a couple GB of disk, and as a percentage of the total install footprint of EBS, the database ORACLE_HOME is relatively tiny.
