Oracle map function  with spatial

Hi Experts,
I have a database10.2.0.4 in red hat 5.0. the java application at 32 bit winrow 2003 sp2 server with tocmat ISS server6.0.
Last week, the IE or forefox broower could not display oracle map when window server updated into 2008.
all of other oracle function works well. We do not get any error message for this event.
Does any expert have experience for this issue?
Thanks
Jim

Try looking at this as a first step http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/db/10g/r2/prod/datamgmt/spatial/spatial_otn.htm?cid=4553&ssid=0 that will give you a primer on getting data in and out of Oracle Spatial.  You will find lots of tutorials on the web.  There is no substitute for reading the manuals - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E16655_01/nav/portal_7.htm#oracle_spatial_and_location_information
I can highly recommend a book called Pro Oracle Spatial The 12c version is due out in June but the 11g version will get you started,

  • ORA-06521: PL/SQL: Error mapping function with 10.1.0 external procedure

    We have an external procedure running fine on 8.1.7 on VMS. After compiling and linking succesfully under 10.1.0, I get ORA-06521 PL/SQL: Error mapping function and ORA-06522: ERROR - vms_dlsym for file x, where x in the filename of the linked executable. Another external procedure that does not connect to the 10.1.0 database runs fine. What could be causing this error in Server 10.1.0 on VMS?
    Thanks,
    Dave

    Here is the code to create the function:
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION f1
    (h_file_name IN VARCHAR2)
    RETURN BINARY_INTEGER
    IS EXTERNAL
    LIBRARY l1
    NAME "f1"
    LANGUAGE C
    WITH CONTEXT
    PARAMETERS
    (CONTEST,
    h_file_name string);
    Here is the beginning of the Pro*C:
    int f1(epctx, h_file_name)
    OCIExtProcContext *epctx;
    char h_file_name[70];
    char h_line_txt [251];
    int lineno;
    FILE *fptr;
    /* register the connection context ... */
    EXEC SQL REGISTER CONNECT USING :epctx;
    The function loads a flat file into the database. It is probably not related but are unable to SQLPLUS/ or SQLLDR/ into the database from an OS autheniticated account (get ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact.) Thanks for taking the time to look at this. There aren't many people trying this on VMS, I'd bet.

  • Pipelined functions with spatial data

    hi,
    i've been trying to use pipelined functions (using the TABLE and CAST operators to query data from them) to retrieve large amounts of spatial data.
    i've followed the examples on metalink, and they work fine. my problem arises when i apply similar functions to query data using SDO_FILTER, i've been trying to pipe a mdsys.sdo_geometry datatype (ref cursor) into the function - returns null.
    are spatial datatypes supported for use in pipelined functions, and using the table and cast operators?
    if they are, where can i find further reading/reference on the subject?
    thanks

    Check out http://otn.oracle.com/products/spatial/pdf/mapviewerfaq_31.pdf
    or
    You can look for a third party solution that can draw maps.
    Then you call out to this component from Forms.

  • 'Error mapping function' with external procedures

    I'm trying to create an external procedure in PL/SQL8.1 to run an operating system command from within a PL/SQL block.
    The C function couldn't be simpler:
    extern void host_command(char *command)
    (void)system(command);
    It's even ignoring the return value of SYSTEM!
    I've generated what I THINK is a shared object file and copied it to $ORACLE_HOME/lib/host_command.so
    I've then done CREATE LIBRARY HOST_COMMAND_LIB as '...'
    Then I created a PL/SQL procedure:
    CREATE PROCEDURE SHELL(IP_COMMAND IN VARCHAR2)
    AS
    LANGUAGE C
    NAME "host_command"
    LIBRARY HOST_COMMAND_LIB
    PARAMETERS (IP_COMMAND);
    And then EXEC SHELL ('touch /tmp/fred')
    That's when ORA-6521 is raised.
    I am running Oracle8.1.7.4.0 on AIX 4.3
    Am I missing something?
    Any suggestions will be thankfully received.
    Andrew Hunter

    Thanks.
    In fact, using the supplied makefile in $ORACLE_HOME/plsql/demo and MAKING SURE THAT THE .SO IS EXECUTABLE(!) works.

  • Oracle Spatial functionality with WFS

    Hi all
    My first post here so be gentle on me ;-)
    This may be an obvious question but here goes ...
    When using a WFS client can you access the full SDO_... SQL functions within Oracle Spatial? I've had a read of the WFS spec and it is all a bit vague on how the queries get passed through to the data store.
    Also with the WFS locking, is this done at the web server level? If so how would that impact on any direct access to the database? A bit dangerous??
    Appreciate any advice on WFS implemtations with a 9i back end. I want to retain the full native Oracle functionality and still deploy via WFS ... a pipe dream??
    Thanks
    Richard

    Thanks for your response Andreas
    Sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear, I realise the WFS client will never directly access the data source, that it is the WFS server that makes the request to the data store, not the client, but can the call be passed through to Oracle as native SQL?
    I think I found the answer in the OGC Filter Encoding Imp Spec where it desribes in great detail the optional filter component of a WFS request. It desribes the CQL filter operators that include some spatial operators. These could, I understand, be translated from CGL and Feature based schema to SQL (in GML?) and relational based schema.
    While I don't think at first glance that the spatial operators in CQL match all the Oracle SDO_ functions they probably go far enough for most normal users.
    Am I on the right track?
    Does anyone know of any work that has been done in this filter translation to SQL and if it has been implemented successfully anywhere.
    I think the locks would still pose a problem, but that's for another day :-)
    Thanks
    Richard

  • Access to non spatial tables in oracle mapviewer/ oracle maps V2

    Hello,
    We want to have access to non spatial oracle tables (for value list creation etc), existing in oracle mapviewer spatial datasource (ex datasource: MVDEMO/ nospatial table: Employees).
    We have allready created the datasource MVDEMO and we want to avoid the creation of an external datasource to the same oracle user.
    Thxs,
    Bill

    Thanks.  Your answer was very helpful.  It pointed me in the right direction.  I wanted to be able to generate a table, below the map, which listed all the points (and their associated data) shown on the map.  The simplified code I used is shown below.  The function is called using an event listener (map.addListener(OM.event.MapEvent.LAYER_ADDED, createTable) which fires after the pointlayer is added to the map.
    function createTable(evt) {
        var tableRecords = pointLayer.getAllFeatures();
        var tableRecordsAttr = pointLayer.getAttributeNames();
        divElem = document.createElement('div');
        tableElem = document.createElement('table');
        tbodyElem = document.createElement('tbody');
        rowElem = document.createElement('tr');
        // create the table headings
        for (var i = 0; i < tableRecordsAttr.length; i++) {
            colElem = document.createElement('th');
            colElem.appendChild(document.createTextNode(tableRecordsAttr[i]));
            rowElem.appendChild(colElem);
        tbodyElem.appendChild(rowElem);
        // populate each row of the table with data
        for (var i = 0; i < tableRecords.length; i++) {
            rowElem = document.createElement('tr');
            for (var j = 0; j < tableRecordsAttr.length; j++) {
                colElem = document.createElement('td');
                colElem.appendChild(document.createTextNode(tableRecords[i].getAttributes()[tableRecordsAttr[j]]));
                rowElem.appendChild(colElem);
            tbodyElem.appendChild(rowElem);
        tableElem.appendChild(tbodyElem);
        divElem.appendChild(tableElem);
        document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0].appendChild(divElem);

  • Calling ORACLE Store Procedure with parameters in user define function

    Hi everybody,
    We have a scenario connecting Oracle DB thru JDBC adapter.
    We have to call store procedure with input parameter and output parameter to retrieve data from DB. The implementation was made using JDBC adapter by building the correct XML message with EXECUTE action, and it works fine.
    Now we need to use DB lookup within mapping. I wrote users define function with SELECT statement (using the JDBC adapter) and it works fine but I need to call store procedure in ORACLE instead of SELECT statement.
    I found lot of examples concerning DB lookup but none of them explained how to write UDF calling store procedure in ORACLE with input and output parameters.
    I am looking for an example.
    Thanks in advance,
    Gigi

    I agree with you, but issue is we have lots of existing store procedure, which we need to call where damn required. I am sure those will be few but still i need to find out.
    If you think you are going to get existing MS Stored Procedures  or Oracle Packages that had nothing to do with the ORM previously to work that are not geared to do simple CRUD operations with the ORM and the database tables, you have a rude awakening
    coming that's for sure. You had better look into using ADO.NET and Oracle Command objects and call those Oracle Packages by those means and use a datareader.
    You could use the EF backdoor, call Oracle Command object and use the Packages,  if that's even possible, just like you can use MS SQL Server Stored Procedures or in-line T-SQL via the EF backdoor.
    That's about your best shot.

  • I can't execute oracle functions with c#.  i'm using oracle 9i version.

    i have a problem trying to execute an oracle function with c#.net. The Oracle version i'm using is Oracle 9i.
    This is the function definition: (it's defined and working right because i have tryed it with SQLWorksheet)
    CREATE OR REPLACE Function NRegistros return integer is
    Numero integer(4);
    begin
    select count(*) into Numero from singles;
    return Numero;
    END NRegistros;
    But with c#.Net i can't acces it because i get an error: "this is not a procedure or is not defined". And i think the code is right. In fact in the same code you can see that i'm using an stored procedure and i have not problems. But with the function i have problems. Is it possible that "OracleClient" can't work with Oracle9i functions??. This is the code:
    OracleParameter Parametro = new OracleParameter("Name", OracleType.VarChar,10);
    OracleParameter ParametroFuncion = new OracleParameter("Retorno", OracleType.Int32, 4);
    Parametro.Direction = ParameterDirection.Output;

    Do you have the Toad Debugger? Thats the extra cost option which you get for free in OracleSqlDeveloper.
    If you have the ToadDebugger, Read the Manual
    If not , download OracleSqlDeveloper and use it. It's free, and written by Oracle.

    It would make more sense to ask for help with PhoneGap on their support site.
