changing the localhost line
from
192.168.25.105 localhost.localdomain localhost
to
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
then installation is successfull!!!!
why is that?

Seems you specified wrong IP address.

OEM is not running after changing the host ip in Oracle10g !

Dear Friends ,
I am installing Oracle10g in Linux RHEL 5 . After installing , I have to also configure OEM database control interface successfully . During installing I use IP '192.168.0.1' , and configure OEM using this ip . But after some times I need to change the host ip address only , then I cannot browse the OEM interface . It shows blank page and give the below error :

Do not need recreate OEM repository.You have to need change some file`s context. try do following.
1.Go $ORACLE_HOME\<HOSTNAME>_<SID>\sysman\config then edit emoms.properties file. Change following parameters with properly(correct) values(using new IP address):
oracle.sysman.emSDK.svlt.ConsoleServerHost,
oracle.sysman.eml.mntr.emdRepServer,
oracle.sysman.eml.mntr.emdRepConnectDescriptor.
2. Go $ORACLE_HOME\<HOSTNAME>_<SID>\sysman\emd edit targets.xml file. Change
<Property NAME="MachineName" if different real name .
3. export ORACLE_SID=<SID>
emctl start dbconsole

DB Experts----Oracle 9i Installation Stops after 17%

I have a Linux 64 bit Server Running Oracle 10gR2 and need to install a Oracle 9i database as one of programs that we have purchased only works with Oracle 9i.
I have downloaded the Oracle 9i installation instructions and applied the relevant patches and when i install the Oracle 9i it stops at 17% on the naeet.o file

I am not sure, still logically what will happen with LISTERER in port 1520 . What will happen to ORACLE_HOME . In my view two database at the same machine will not be possible, unless you make changes with all the default settings and locations of oracle. I have tried with Oracle 8i and Oracle 9i .

After changing my email, handle name on my old posts were changed to "974972" and all those old posts are not listed under my new accounts/handle name any more.

OpenDNS is the right approach here ... you can selectively block specific domains / urls.

Installation fails after changing My Docs position

Installation fails for Adobe Reader after downloading it in the installer. Then starts installing but says "Error installing Adobe Reader", in details: "The path to Documents Programs or the volume are not valid. Insert them again". I was messing with letters of the partitions before this. Just changed my CD to E, then my second partition to D to fix the creation of D for my CD. And changed position of MY Documents to unit D as always.
But i had a weird problem with the Libraries. They got removed, i tried to recover them, and they didn't appear. Then i clicked them through Start button, in IMAGES, DOCUMENTS, and all the fast links together with Control Panel, and they appeared. I fixed it all.
Not when i try to see the "file in the browser" with any program, i can't get it working neither.
How can i solve this?

Ok I fixed it.
I created another account with administration rights. Then i copied everything from my last account (thankfully only the desktop contents and two more files) and deleted the last account. THe new account created the new Library folders which were broken before. Everyhing working perfect.
I guess it´s related to some data Adobe stores in the My Documents folders.

Oracle R12 installation problem

we have installed 12.1.3 in windows xp sp2 machine.installation went fine and login
page appeared and everything was fine. when we restart the system the login page
doesn't seem to appear its giving " internal server error"
we reinstalled the application and it installed successfully and login page
and forms appeared .when we restart the system the we are
getting
"forms invalid configuration error" .we tried compiling all forms.But still
we are facing the problem. again we re installed the application and
everything went fine and worked.again when we restarted the system we are
getting " internal server error" in login page.any body know what the root

Oracle EBS R12 installation problem in Windows 2003

Hi,
I am trying to install Oracle EBS R12 on Windows 2003 R2. I have installed cygwin along with required packages and also Visual studio 2005 as specified in the prerequisites of installation document.
All the validations are successful before installation but I am facing error during installation in Step3 at about 53 percent. When i checked the log file, I found that some of the files required for installation are not found in my staging area. Now I want to run MD5sum on the Staged Files.
I had downloaded md5sum_windows.txt and also run this command :
md5sum --check md5sum_Windows.txt > md5sum_result.txt
In md5sum_result.txt, I am getting error for all files. Error message is as :
oraAppDB\Disk1\data\driver\Disk1.drv
: FAILED open or read
This is repeating for all files. But i can see that the files are present in My Staging area. Do i need to set some permission for this. Please help. Desperately want to install EBS as part of perparation for my planned certification.

I have downloaded all the 33 files in oracle edelivery site. I have seen a post of yours regarding Oracle R12 installation on Windows XP. It mentions only some 25 files. Please do not rely on the that thread as it was for 12.0.x installation.
For R12 (12.1.1) you need to download the following files:
From: Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 Rapid Install Start Here (Part 1 of 4)
To: Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 for Microsoft Windows (32-bit) Rapid Install APPL_TOP - Disk 2 (Part 2 of 2)
Is it possible that contents of the zip file are lost during download because my stage area is about 39 GB . and also I have verfied all the files in edelivery site is downloaded too.
Also the error i mentioned in my last post, I can see the file in the directory but still its showing read error. Is it due to corruption of data. That would mean that I will have to download all 40 GB again :-(It is easy to verify the contents of the stage area directory without running md5sum, so please do so and post the results here.

Changing the host.domain once R12 is installed..

Hello all,
We installed R12 on a brand new machine (named localhost.localdomain). It installed fine and we were able to get to it by http://<ipaddress>:8000. The system administrator wants to change this to <XYZHOST>.<ABCDOMAIN>. What do we need to ensure that the app still functions correctly?
We have changed /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 <XYZHOST>.<ABCDOMAIN>
and am able to ping by name and Ip.
We are having no problem logging and looking at the JSP pages of R12. The forms however are not cooperating at all :). Any ideas/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I installed oracle r12 (db in one hard disk and application in another hard disk) But i encountered two things
failed in post install checks One is Jsp and another one login page. By the advice I run autoconfig file..It completed successfully. when i started services Except OC4J services remaining all are started.
I encountered the following error for forms OC4J and OACORE OC4J,
ERROR: Timed out (100000) :Interrupted Exception in oracle r12 Installation.
please suggest me....

Have you done any changes after the installation?
Can you find any details about the error in Apache log files and the database log files?

ChangePerm.sh file does not exist in Oracle 11g installation

Hi All,
I have done successful Oracle 11g installation. After installation I noticed that Oracle 11g/installation does not have changePerm.sh file. Did anyone of you seen that?
Without executing changeperm.sh file, the binary files have 751 permission level. ChangePerm.sh script make change in file permission to 755.
Oracle support is not answering me why there was no changePerm.sh file under Oracle_home/install directory.

I'm not finding this to be the case reliably. I have both a 10G and an 11G install on one particular machine and the 11G installer initially creates the directories with a 755 permission, then right before the prompt to run root.sh, and at the same time it locks down any 10G home it finds (someone please explain that!) it locks down the 11G home too.
In true Murphy tradition, this hasn't happened on any of my testing machines, just my production.
Whatever silly contrived mechanism Oracle wrote to re-lock 10G when installing 11G is also locking down my 11G.
