Oracle Sqldeveloper and *.xsd Files

Hi,
I've been playing with writing some simple sqldeveloper xml extensions.
I ran across this link:
http://wiki.oracle.com/page/SQL+Dev+SDK+How+To+create+an+XML+User+Defined+Extension
Extension Framework
SQL Developer database navigator, database object editors, database object actions and reports can be extended easily using XML.
TODO : Expose the xsd files
The XML for each type of extension (NAVIGATOR, EDITOR,ACTION,REPORT) can be found here in xsd format.
Use these as a reference after completing the examples below.
* navigator.xsd
* editor.xsd
* action.xsd
* report.xsd
I had a look around in sql developer, but couldn't see these files. Are they available somewhere?
Thanks.

So, in the meantime, the best way to get started is to copy the examples, like the ones in the wiki entry and adapt them to do what you want to do. The places to add your own SQL and your own names are pretty easy to figure out with a little study. There are a few more examples in the Oracle Wiki, and some on the SQL Developer pages on OTN. Many thanks to Sue Harper and Dermot O’Neill. Find their articles at:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/oracle/07-jul/o47sql.html
http://www.oracle.com/technology/oramag/oracle/07-may/o37sql.html
http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/hol08/sqldev_srccodexmlext/xmlext_otn.htm
http://wiki.oracle.com/page/SQL+Dev+SDK+Getting+Started
Also, if you want to create an EDITOR style extension, start by creating a User Defined Report and export it as an XML file. There are only a few differences between the two formats, mostly an extra attribute to tell SQL Developer where to hook the editor to the navigator.
Finally - I wrote my own paper on extending SQL Developer: http://www.smdi.com/employee/JohnF/articles/Extending%20SQL%20Developer.zip

  • Best practice for how to access a set of wsdl and xsd files

I've recently beeing poking around with the Oracle ESB, which requires a bunch of wsdl and xsd files from HOME/bpel/system/xmllib. What is the best practice for including these files in a BPEL project? It seems like a bad idea to copy all these files into every project that uses the ESB, especially if there are quite a few consumers of the bus. Is there a way I can reference this directory from the project so that the files can just stay in a common place for all the projects that use them?
    Bret

    Hi,
I created a project (JDeveloper) with local xsd-files and tried to delete and recreate them in the structure pane with references to a version on the application server. After reopening the project I deployed it successfully to the bpel server. The process is working fine, but in the structure pane there is no information about any of the xsds anymore and the payload in the variables there is an exception (problem building schema).
How does bpel know where to look for the xsd-files and how does the mapping still work?
This cannot be the way to do it correctly. Do I have a chance to rework an existing project or do I have to rebuild it from scratch in order to have all the references right?
    Thanks for any clue.

  • XML and XSD file to an internal table

I had read a lot of thread  but i don't understand how to deal with xml/xsd in R3.
I need someone that have a definite example for this escenary please.
With OPEN DATASET took from the server XML and XSD file, and put it in two internal tables type string.
What functions or method have to use, and how to use them, to charge the XML file in an internal table?
This is an example of XML and XDS:
    XML
    AND CONTINUE
    Best Regards,

I just tried to interpret your question, it was not obvious what you wanted.
I guess what you mean is that you have defined (statically) a deep structure, and you want to decode the XML into it. That is called a transformation (transaction STRANS, statement CALL TRANSFORMATION). You have the choice between 2 transformation languages: XSLT and ST. Of course, it depends what release you are running.
I advise you to play first with the ID transformation, to convert an ABAP deep structured data object into XML, so that you see what XML is generated, this one is called asXML. If you create your own transformation, when you call it, it will first convert automatically the data object to asXML, and the transformation has to do the rest of the job.
You can do the opposite, i.e. converting from XML to a data object, according to the same principle (intermediate asXML).
Well, there are lots of things to say, I recommend you to read articles and documentation on XSLT and ST (search on SDN).
About XSD, it won't help (and I did never see any possibility to use it) to decode the XML, as you must anyway define the target data object statically (and there's no tool to generate the ABAP code of the data object definition from the XSD).
Note that you may also use iXML libraries to parse the XML.
    Please tell us more.

  • Generation of .ecs file and .xsd file

    Hi,
I am working on the Acme-GlobalChips tutorial Query using File 1.0 protocol.
I have few question on that.
While creating the Business actions and Trading partner IN B2B we use two 850.ecs and 850.xsd.Can these be used for all the trading partners or they are partner specific. If not then do we develop it using Document Editor.
Moreover if after we create the .ecs using the tool can we generate the .xsd file using same tool.
I have this doubt because I used the .ecs file provide with the tutorial and used EDI file provide by some other partner it worked.I mean I was able to generate the EDI-Xml as payload in reports section of B2B.
Can some help me on this.
    Regards
    Lalit

    Hi Lalit,
    1. Yes. Different Trading partners can use the same Business action. However, you can also override the .ecs file and .xsd file as per your requirement.
    2. We can also generate .xsd files using the Document editor.

  • Oracle binary and control files

    Hi All,
I want know whether the oracle binary and control files are they related in anyway.
I have my physical files on a SAN storage and my oracle binary files on a local disk.
In case if I delete my oracle binaries and restore it from a backup, will I be able to start my database without any issues.
Since all my oracle datafiles, controlfiles and redofiles are located in SAN storage.

Oracle binaries and control files are related in some way because Oracle version is recorded in control files:
    oerr ora 201
00201, 00000, "control file version %s incompatible with ORACLE version %s"
// *Cause:  The control file was created by incompatible software.
// *Action: Either restart with a compatible software release or use
//          CREATE CONTROLFILE to create a new control file that is
//          compatible with this release. When restoring Oracle binaries on UNIX you should take care about setuid bits on oracle executable to avoid local connection issues by non oracle Unix accounts.

  • External dependency on remote dtd and xsd files

The question bugs me for years, please help.
Should we download external dtd and xsd files declared for web.xml and faces-config.xml and pack them in the war files to eliminate the external dependency.
    e.g.

    http://java.sun.com/dtd/web-facesconfig_1_0.dtd
    Thanks

    Hi Srikanth,
    Have you done this?
    SAP HELP
<i>You want to import an XSD document myMessage to the Integration Repository; this document references three other XSD documents myStr1, myStr2, and myStr3 by using the <include> statement. One option is to first import myMessage. The External References tab page then shows that three documents are referenced and that these documents are not yet in the Integration Repository.  Next, create further external definitions for myStr1, myStr2, and myStr3 in the same namespace and specify the source for each of these documents. If the source is not contained in the document itself, you will find it in the referencing document. If you refresh the display of the external definition for myMessage, the External References tab page shows that the documents have been found in the Integration Repository. You can then navigate to the other referenced external definitions in the Integration Repository by double clicking.</i>
Also, try activating just in case you haven't.

  • How do you extract SQL from Oracle Forms and Reports files?

I am developing an "as is" data model for a government client for a 14 year old system that has three databases, 20 schemas, over 1500 tables, and over 23,000 columns. Needless to say, I do not plan to perform a manual mapping of data to screens and reports.
Most of the system has been developed in Oracle Forms and Reports. I am trying to map the live tables and columns to forms and reports.
The process here has been to save the forms and reports files as .fmb and .rdf files. The client does not have an available copy of Oracle Designer, which I understand could be used to extract the SQL.
Is there a utility somewhere that can parse the .fmb and .rdf files to extract the SQL?
    Thanks,
    Jim Gearing

    Jim,
I don't know of any utility that will do this. You can convert and save each fmb as a fmt so you can view/search the contents , but I don't recommend that approach.
On the other hand, you download a copy of Oracle Designer:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/index.html
It usually is included with Oracle Forms and Reports.

  • Whre does oracle cache and temp files are located?

    Hi
thank you for reading my post
Please do not shoot me if i have misconception.
I come from netbeans world and for netbeans there was some folder that we could delete to make netbeans cache fresh (so more speed).
for Jdeveloper i can not find such folder and its some times that Jdev works really slow.
once i delete the system directory and all my settings gone with that (specially server that i registered / database connection /libaries)
    what should i delete to
-keep all registered server / librarye/database connections
-make Oracle Jdeveloper to work like a new installation.
    thanks

If you wish to exclude anything from the backup simply drag the item into the Exclude list. For example, you can save considerable space by excluding the /System/ folder. Cache files would be found in the /Library/ and /Home/Library/ folders. Each folder contains a folder named Caches. There is no specific folder in which temporary items as stored that is visible to the user because the operating system will usually delete temporary files on its own. This may not be the case for a specific program, however. Browsers may maintain their own reserved cache and temporary files, and manage them on their own.
I do not think, however, that TM backs up caches or temporary files. I find no such items in my TM backup - only the folders. I do not back up my /System/ folder.

  • Multi data providers (oracle DB and Excel file) in one BO report

I have to create one BO report. There is one Excel file, with Type, type_ID,(each type has many different type_ids), eg
    type                 type_id
    IHEI                  IHEI121
    IHEI                  IHEI132
    IHEI                  IHEI212
    IHDI                 IHDI511
    IHDI                 IHDI232
    IDWU              IDWU212
    IDWU              ...............
now I want to count the occurrences of these type_ids in the oracle database.
This should be relatively easy, with
    select type, type_id, count(type_id)
    from my_table
    where type in ('IHEI', ...)
however, since the there are many more data in the database than in the Excel file, it will also count those type_ids that are not in the Excel file
So, how to get rid of those type_ids and keep only those coming from the Excel file?
    thanks for your help!

    Hi Eric,
In the main report, bring in your table.field(s) etc.
Then create a sub report and hook it up to the Excel file.
Link the sub to the main and display (...by "Type" ? ...)
    all the Type_ID's.

  • Change in Oracle Parameters and Log file size

    Hello All,
We have scheduled DB Check job and the log file showed few errors and warnings in the oracle parameter that needs to be corrected. We have also gone through the SAP Note #830576 – Oracle Parameter Configuration to change these parameters accordingly. However we need few clarifications on the same.
1.Can we change these parameters directly in init<SID>.ora file or only in SP file. If yes can we edit the same and change it or do we need to change it using BR tools.
2.We have tried to change few parameters using DB26 tcode. But it prompts for maintaining the connection variables in DBCO tcode. We try to make change only in default database but it prompts for connection variables.
Also we get check point error. As per note 309526 can we create the new log file with 100MB size and drop the existing one. Or are there any other considerations that we need to follow for the size of log file and creating new log file. Kindly advise on this. Our Environment is as follows.
    OS: Windows 2003 Server
    DB: Oracle 10g
    regards,
    Madhu

    Hi,
Madhu, We can change oracle parameters at both the levels that is init<SID> as well as SPFILE level.
    1. If you do the changes at init<SID> level then you have to generate the SPFILE  again and then database has to be restarted for the parameters to take effect.
If you make the changes in SPFILE then the parameters will take effect depending on the parameter type whether it is dynamic or static. You also need to generate the PFILE i.e init<SID>.ora
    2. If possible do not change the oracle parameters using the tcode. I would say it would be better if you do it via the database and it would be much easier.
    3. Well its always good to have a larger redo log size. But only one thing to keep in mind is that once you change the size of the redolog the size of the archive log also changes although the number of files will decrease.
Apart from that there wont be any issues.

    Suhas

  • Can we store ORACLE DATA and LOG files in seperate file system

I am installing NW2004s in HP UNIX Server with Oracle database
I have selected the option as custom
I would want the SAP datafiles to be stored in /sapdata  file system
Log files to be stored in /oraclelog file system
While installation SAP is just asking me for the location of SAP data files. It is not asking me for the location of the log files.
(It is asking me for the location of control files)
Hence as per my understanding the oracle log files can be saved only in  the same directory as oracle Data file.
    Please confirm

I have heard reports of people that made some kind of synchronization between AD and OID, but I have no hands on experience with this. There are some notes on metalink that describe the process, but I try to stay away from AD as far as possible (I usually work on unix or linux environments and those don't really mix with AD).

  • Oracle DB and File system backup configuration

    Hi,
As I understand from the help documents and guides, brbackup, brarchive and brrestore are the tools which are used for backing up and restoring the oracle database and the file system. We have TSM (Trivoli Storage manager) in our infrastructure for managing the backup centrally. Before configuring the backup with TSM, I want to test the backup/restore configuration locally i.e. storing the backup to local file system and then restoring from there. Our backup strategy is to have full online backup on the weekends and incremental backup on the weekdays. Given this, following are the things, I want to test.
    1. Full online backup (to local file system)
    2. Incremental online backup (to local file system)
    3. Restore (from local file system)
I found help documents to be very generic and couldn't get any specific information for the comprehensive configuration to achieve this. Can someone help with end to end configuration?
We are using SAP Portal 7.0 (NW2004s) with Oracle 10g database hosted on AIX server.
    Helpful answers will be rewarded
    Regards,
    Chandra

Thanks for your feedback. I am almost clear about this issue now, except one point need to be confirmed: do you mean that on linux or unix, if required, we can set "direct to disk" from OS level, but for windows, it's default "direct to disk", we do not need to set it manually.
And I have a further question: If a database is stored on a SAN disk, say, a volume from disk array, the disk array could take snapshot for a disk on block level, we need to implement online backup of database. The steps are: alter tablespace begin backup, alter system suspend, take a snapshot of the volume which store all database files, including datafiles, redo logs, archived redo logs, controll file, service parameter file, network parameter files, password file. Do you think this backup is integrity or not. please note, we do not flush the fs cache before all these steps. Let's assume the SAN cache could be flushed automatically. Can I think it's integrity because the redo writes are synchronous.
