Oracle Text search returning no results
Hi,
I have created an oracle text (ctxsys.context) on a BLOB column which has various documents of .doc,.docx,.pdf, types.
CREATE INDEX IND_RESUME_DETAILS ON RESUME_DETAILS (RESUME)
INDEXTYPE IS CTXSYS.CONTEXT
PARAMETERS ('datastore ctxsys.default_datastore filter ctxsys.inso_filter sync (on commit)')
However, the query using 'Contains' does not return any search results.
select employee_number,Score(1) from resume_details where CONTAINS(RESUME,'JAVA',1)>0 order by score(1) desc
On checking the 'ctx_user_index_errors' view , it has an entry for every row in the table. However, it does not show any error in the err_text column
ERR_INDEX_NAME
ERR_TIMESTAMP
ERR_TEXTKEY
ERR_TEXT
IND_RESUME_DETAILS
5/8/2014 18:27
AAAl0GAAGAAEFoWAAC
IND_RESUME_DETAILS
5/8/2014 18:27
AAAl0GAAGAAEFoWAAD
IND_RESUME_DETAILS
5/8/2014 18:27
AAAl0GAAGAAEFoWAAE
Even the index status shows 'VALID'.
I tried dropping and recreating indexes, dropping and recreating the table.. However, it's not working at all.
What's surprising is,it used to work earlier without any problems.
I also have another context index on another column on the same table which is a varchar2 column. The search on that column works absolutely fine.
The database version is
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0
Request someone in helping me root cause this issue. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Hi Barbara,
Still the same issue.
Its putting an entry into 'ctx_user_index_errors' but with nothing in the err_text column..Hence, difficult to track what or where the problem lies.
And moreover, the same index was working earlier. Just stopped working all of a sudden.

How to configure what is displayed in srfDocSnippet (Oracle Text Search)?
I am using UCM 10gR3 with SiteStudio 10gR4. I installed the Oracle Text Search component and it is working well. One of the requirements for a search results page is the specific layout of the data displayed. srfDocSnippet returns a really ugly display if the search result return is just metadata. I didn't find any documentation in UCM on how to configure this display.
How to you configure what is displayed in srfDocSnippet?

SharePoint Foundation 2010 Search returns no results
Hi,
SharePoint foundation 2010 Search is not showing any results after configuring the step from the below link.
http://wiki.sirkit.ca/2011/04/sharepoint-foundation-2010-search-returns-no-results/
My Server Setup :
SharePoint Foundation 2010
SQL Server 2008 r2
We have created two web application and configured the search service as above mention link.
And we have migrated a site from MOSS 2007 to SharePoint 2010 to one of web application,we assigned search database to the newly migrated content database.
Previously there was Form based Authentication was done on Moss 2007 site and on SP 2010 we are working on Windows authentication.
Database showing crawl is working and showing success results as well in SQL table, Its only Not able to show the results on the page.
Thanks in Advance
Dinesh
Regards, Dinesh Reddy.Don't look at the databases, it's a bad habit to get into and will lead to confusion.
In search administration are you getting any sucsess messages in the crawl history and is the number of items in your index non-zero?
If so that implies that the crawl process is working and it's the user security that's the issue.
To confirm try searching for a file whilst logged in as the crawl account, that should return results. -
Hi,
We have implemented Oracle Text Search in our Desktop application. Now it is searching in files available at Oracle Server system only.
How we can implement the search feature with following:
*1. Search files available at Mapped Drive or Netwrok Folder.*
*2. Generate Context of the Search text*
*3. Searching in .docx, .xlsx, .pptx etc*
Please share your valuable suggestion..
Version - Oracle 9i/10g.
Thanks
RemeshYou might want to look at the Ultra Search extension to Oracle Text.
It's part of the standard db license I believe.

Oracle Text Search 9.2.0.7
Hello,
I need to enable Oracle Text Search a 9207 database. Is this a feature that I can enable within the currently running 9207. Or do I need to install this feature into the 9207 instance. If installed, which cd is the Text Search on, compainion cd? Thank you in advance.Yes, you can enable this feature, the easiest way to do this is using dbca, at the configuration section, you can add this feature if database was manually created.
If database was cloned from a seed database it already has it installed and configured, you can start using it, as a reference check this: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/text.102/b14217/toc.htm

Podcast returns "Your search returned no results" but that wasn't the case yesterday
Hello Everyone:
I've been a loyal listener to the 66/40 podcast. It's gone thru some name changes (now it's "66/40 on Oneplace.com") and when I did a search in AppleTV yesterday & today, I got a "Your search returned no results", even though it displays when I search for "66". For weeks now, I've been able to access it. I can access it via the iTunes Store, but no longer on AppleTV. Anyone know why? Any help would be greatly appreeshed.
Thanks.Same thing happening to me, multiple podcasts, video and audio.

Podcasts "Your search returned no results"
When doing a search under Podcasts in Apple TV (2nd gen), a list show up on the right hand side, but when I click on ANY podcast name, it says "Your search returned no results"
As the producer of one of the podcasts in question, I'm not sure why this is happening. They all show up on my Apple TV 1st Gen, as well as iTunes on my Mac, mobile devices, etc. but NO podcasts that I search for can be accessed in 2nd Gen.
ThanksSame thing happening to me, multiple podcasts, video and audio.

Hi Experts,
I had configured backend BW 3.5 connection in the EHP1 for CE 7.1. When I opened VC, I can find the BW system name I configured. I am using dedicated application server configuration. However, when I try to search for query or infoset, it showed "search returned no results". The connection test in system landscape was sucessful. What may be the root cause? Do I need to install any support package in BW 3.5 in order to be searched by VC?
Best Regards

Oracle Text column / return results in bold
I have a form that allows oracle searches to be constructed such as this: ("mem% day concert" AND "pbs") OR "mem% day concert" OR "gary sinise" OR "gary sin%" OR ("mem% day concert" AND ("nat% guard" OR "air force" OR pbs OR concert))
It searches against millions of data records using oracle text. How can I configure the page so the results returned show in bold font.
So for this sample result string; I would like to format the words Gary Sinise in bold font
TZ; Gary Sinise: Gary Sinise was with the USO and his Lt Dan Band. V; USO concert.You might have better luck with this question on the Oracle Text forum. I think Oracle Text has a feature to embed HTML markup on the search "hits".
See if http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/pdf/apex_text_application_v1.6.pdf
is of any help

Text search returns results with some keywords, but not others
This pertains to a tours website for Turkey. I've sucessfully
set up a search form, and results page which returns results when
multiple keywords are entered. Everything is working well, except
when certain keywords are used. For example, the table column being
searched for is called long_itinerary, so if anyone is interested
in a certain site or city, it's bound to be in the long itinerary
somewhere.
Here's the problem, by example: When someone searches with
the keywords Antalya, Konya, Ankara, or Adana, for example, results
are returned from the database, and those keywords are in each
returned tour's long itinerary.
But certain keywords return nothing, even when they're in
practically all of the tours, in the long_itinerary column. For
example, Istanbul, Ephesus, and Izmir, Kusadasi and Pergamum return
no results, even though they're there. I've gone through all of the
most likely keywords, and these are the offenders. If, for example,
I search with "Istanbul Ankara," I get results with tours including
Ankara (and Istanbul, but only because the word "Ankara" is in the
itinerary).
First I made sure the Charset values were the same on the
search form page and the results page. Still had the problem. Next,
I went into the database itself, and copied the word "Istanbul"
directly from the long_itinerary column of the database, and pasted
it into the search function's text field, and searched again. Same
problem--no results returned.
I can't see any difference between the keywords which work
correctly, and those which don't, what baffles me is that even when
I copy a keyword directly from the database and paste it in the
search text field, it returns no results!
Well, I'm baffled! Any ideas what might cause this?Hmm -- one of my customers is a turkish building company
(Kusadasi BTW), and when *they* add some contents to the DB,
they´ll be entering turkish chars. It´s in particular the
turkish "I" which is pretty different, and this is when a search
for keywords containing a western "I" will fail.
Could that be the problem in your case ? -
Update Results not Displayed in Oracle Text search with Transactional Index
Hi,
I am working on a solution utilising Oracle Text to give me a probable list of matching records. The problem I have the table I am searching on is prepopulated with seed data and the application we are building is assigning a record and updating the details(columns) against it. This detail is what we are searching on using an Multi Column Datastore index which is refreshed every hr and also has the transactional parameter specified. Unfortunately the Transactional Index does not pick up the updated details, it only seems to work if I insert a new record (which will never happen). This to me sounds like a bug. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.Barbara,
I think you may have eluded to my problem. I haven't updated the "dummy" column
The table structure is as follows:
CREATE TABLE WAGN (
WAGN VARCHAR2(8) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
last_name VARCHAR2(240),
first_name VARCHAR2(240),
middle_name VARCHAR2(240),
date_of_birth DATE,
gender VARCHAR2(1),
status VARCHAR2(1) NOT NULL,
signature RAW(64));
The preference creation is:
BEGIN
ctx_ddl.create_preference('WAGN_NAME_SRCH', 'MULTI_COLUMN_DATASTORE');
ctx_ddl.set_attribute('WAGN_NAME_SRCH', 'columns', 'last_name, first_name, middle_name, date_of_birth, gender');
END;
The Index Creation statement is:
CREATE INDEX wagn_srch_idx1 ON WAGN(signature) --Dummy Column
INDEXTYPE IS ctxsys.CONTEXT
PARAMETERS ('DATASTORE WAGN_NAME_SRCH SYNC(EVERY "SYSDATE+60/24/60" PARALLEL 10) TRANSACTIONAL');
And a typical update statement is (contained with PL/SQL):
UPDATE WAGN
SET status = x_wagn_assigned_status,
last_name = p_employee_details.last_name,
first_name = p_employee_details.first_name,
middle_name = p_employee_details.middle_name,
date_of_birth = p_employee_details.date_of_birth,
gender = p_employee_details.gender
WHERE WAGN = l_wagn;
So my guess is that because the dummy column (signature) is not updated it is not being reflected in the transactional memory area. -
Oracle text search not working for WSDL files
I have a table (resources) with blob data type column (xml_data) and I've created context type index on that column. I've XSD and WSDL files stored in that blob column.
I can search XSD and XML files with a query with contains operator. But any search on the words from wsdl file returns zero results.I am not able to perform search on wsdl file.
Please advise me whether oracle text can work for WSDL files also ?
Query details
===========
create index myIndex on resources (xml_data) indextype is ctxsys.context;
select * from resources where contains(xml_data, 'searchword') > 0
Thanks a lot,
SanthiEven though it isn't listed specifically, I can't see why it wouldn't work. The WSDL file should be a simple XML file, so in theory it shouldn't be any different to Oracle Text than the XML file that you loaded and searched successfully. Did you get any errors during indexing, and what do your tokens look like in the DR$MYINDEX$I.TOKEN_TEXT column?
Do you have a mini test case that didn't work for you? Perhaps we could play with it a bit.
Long term you might want to consider using section groups so that you can search "within" tags.
