Edited by: user647572 on Dec 26, 2011 5:10 AMI dispair when an Oracle Certified Professional says he does not have 'preapartion material' and asks for a PDF link.
.... The most likely response is from someone training to sell unauthorised learning materials.
..... The OCP should understand the exams topics and online manuals for 11g should be sufficient. Oracle Press Books and Sybex Books for 11g DBA OCP should also cover number of the required topics if that helps. Not to mention Oracle University Training.
...... But an OCP asking for a 'PDF' or 'PPT' for the 1z0-055 exam ??????? .... what form of content are you thinking?

  • Importing an oracle 8i database from Enterprise Version intot Oracle Lite

How do i get to import an Oracle 8i Enterprise Server database into an Oracle 8i lite server.
    null

I have never done this..but it ought to be simple....
If you are only cocvern about the logical schema and the data in it..then I would simply export the database using export utility.
let say if user snawaz who owns the schema on you enterprise server ..then just make sure you have a user snawaz on the lite oracle..
also make sure user snawaz on both have enough priviledges to the database..
    then simply do an export:
    example:
    from enterprise database:
    exp snawaz/snawaz@sidname owner=snawaz
this will export all the schema owned by snawaz, then take the export file to oracle lite...
    then do import
    imp snawaz/snawaz@sidname
when it prompts for entire dmp file just say no and only import user and specify the user snawaz...
    it should work fine..
If you need more comprehensive doc.let me kow

  • Upgrade solaris from 9 to 10 - Oracle issues?

We are planning to upgrade our Solaris box, running oracle 9.2.0.5,
from solaris 9 (5.9) to 10, this to take advantage of better TCP/IP
stack on Solaris 10 , and the Network trunking feature, multiplexing
network cards to same IP, which is non-standard in Solaris 9.
Our DB does not run in a cluster, and uses local disks only.
any issue we should be aware of? would all our system settings, like
disk, init and /etc/system remain unchanged? any estimate of down time?
I am assuming we would have to shut down oracle while running the
    upgrade.
I just read that /etc/system is not supported? what would we have to do instead?
    thanks!

You may need to re-link Oracle.

  • Oracle upgrade problem from 8.1.6.2.0 to 9.2.0.3.0

We have upgraded our database to version 9.2.0.3.0 from version 8.1.6.2.0. Everything is fine accept a proprietory encryption package that utilises the UTL_RAW package and stores working variables in a PL/SQL Record structure consisting of 6 RAW(4) fields.
When we execute the encryption procedure on version 9 of the database it returns a different response to when we execute the procedure on version 8. Any help greatly appreciated.

  • Oracle 64bit Server (From JD Edwards) and oracle 32 bit client showing ORA:12560 "TNS: protocol adapter error "??

I installed 64bit Oracle successfully and was able to connect to DB using SQL Developer and sqlplus (Oracle E1local and TNSListener is up and running). I installed Oracle 32bit client and copied both tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files to C:\app\Administrator\product\11.2.0\client\Network\admin. But if i am trying to access DB through Oracle 32bit client (thru cmd as sqlplus /sys as sysdba or thru sqlplus , it is throwing ORA:12560. "TNS: protocol adapter error ". (Both 62bit server and 32 client on same VM machine - Windows 2008 R2 ). I directly executed sqlplus from "C:\app\Adm\....client\bin", but it is still throwing same error and because of this JDEdward installation is not able to find if any database is running or not.!
My environment variables order: %PATH% =  C:\app\Administrator\product\11.2.0\client\bin;c:\Oracle\E1Local\bin; I have seen all the previous threads and try setting ORACLE_HOME and PATH variable using CMD and tried accessing the database, but it fails all the time.
Please help me with the problem. Thanks in advance.

  • Oracle Upgrade --  Pre-Upgrade 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.1

    Hello,
I want to do an Oracle Upgrade to version 11.2g!
At this point I did some things (in Windows Server 2003 X64):
    1-) Install Oracle 10.2.0.1 (DVD Media);
    2-) Installation of Oracle patchset 10.2.0.4 (note 871735);
    3-) Installation of interim / last generics patch (note 1137346);
4-) Installation of SAP ECC 6.0 SR3 by SAPInst
5-) After SAP installation I did all the corrections in Oracle parameters as it mentioned in note 830576.
As you see above, all the SAP system was well installed!
But now I want to do the Oracle Upgrade process to the last version, Oracle DB 11.2g  (11.2.0.1)... and so I´m following the Upgrade guide "Upgrade to Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2) Windows.pdf" with some SAP notes for Upgrade process.
So I´m at this point in planning chapter where is recommended to check so things in actual database, one of this checks are running some SQL-scripts to perform an Oracle database upgrade with DBUA to release 11.2 (as mentioned in note 1431793 - Oracle 11.2.0: Upgrade Scripts)
I ran two Pre-Scripts, the @pre_upgrade_status.sql and @pre_upgrade_tasks.sql but both outputs showed some warnings and they are worrying me... so what I ask to you is some kind of help in analyse of them and tell me if this issues are relevant for the upgrading process and if so, what you recommend me to do to correct their!
Next I will post here this two log scripts... they are long!!!

FailSafe Cluster and RAC are completely different architectures, there's no direct migration path. Export the 9i database and import into a fresh RAC database.
At the same time move to 11gR2.

  • Oracle 9i Upgrade Exam

I am a certified DBA on Oracle 8i, and I am studying for the 9i Upgrade Exam for DBA's. I have one book called Oracle 9i New Features by Robert Freeman.
There seems to be a lot of information you need to know for the exam that is not in this book. Can anyone recommend a book or is there information on Oracle's website you can download to get all the reference material you need?
    Thanks in advance,
    Dave

    Hi,
Im upgrading too. The easy way to do it is by going to Oracle to their "Test Content Checklist". You may use the search engine to get their quickly. This checklist provides the areas that the test is going to actually test you on.
What I do is I answer all those questions from the Oracle documentation. I rarely use any other book. I don't buy no books or anything. Then I use the self test software to reinforce the concepts that I just read and make additional notes from the selftest software to my note book.
I did this with all my 8i tests and it works like a charm.
    Best of luck!

    Hi Deepak/Folks,
Another question that I have is that while doing the Oracle Upgrade on an EP server, the patches were not installed properly and I had to shut down the Patches installation after it did not do anything for a while.

  • Oracle upgrade from 10.1.0.4 to 10.2.0.3

    Hi,
    OS:RHEL3
We are in process of moving database to other machine (same name, same config) and upgrading db from 10.1.0.4 to 10.2.0.3. We forgot to copy home.
Can we start db from 10.2.0.3 and invoke dbua for upgrade?
or do i need to install 10.1.0.4 again and startup db and invoke dbua.
I started db in upgrade mode from 10.2.0.3 binaries and tried invoking dbua. It got "table does not exists error".
If i start db normally under 10.2.0.3 home and try upgrade with dbua will this work?
    Thanks,
    Anil

    Hi,
DBUA upgrades the old database to new database by getting information from existing old database. These informations are stored in oratab file. Moreover oracle need the old database to start while performing upgradation. Starting of old database is not possible till you have its oracle home installed. So you are required to have older version oracle home installed before you carry out installation.
The older version can be new installation or old installation copy.
    Regards
    Anurag

  • Oracle upgrade from version 9.2 to verion 10.2 for SAP R/3 4.7 SR2

    Hello,
We have  R/3 4.7 SR2 system with Oracle 9.2 on 32 bit Windows platform  (x86). We want to upgrade Database from Oracle 9.2 to Oracle 10.2 .
Is this possible ? If yes what is the procedure for same.
I searched but did not get any SAP document .Wpould appreciate any available documents you can share.
    regards,
    Pravash Raikar

    Hi,
But when I goto SAP site : R/3 4.7C --> Upgrade --> Oracle ... it only provides DVD for Oracle 10.2 for 64 bit platform....
SAP suggest to migrate 32bit platform to 64 bit,
If your requirement is 10.2 32bit then you can raise an OSS with where sap will enable the archive link for customer to download 32 bit dump.
    Thanks
    Anil
