In the past I had upgraded my oracle VM from 2.2.0 to 2.2.1 using some oracle public repository. But I have lost that link. I goggled but could not find it.
Could anyone provide me the that link...

  • Is there a way to create a local package repository

Is there a way to create a local package repository without technically being a mirror.  For example, setting up multiple AL box's on my network and having them grab all the latest packages from one AL box?
    Thanks,
    Craig

What you most likely want is an ABS tree of your own, containing only the PKGBUILDs of those packages which you want to be included in your repository.
You should already have heard of the gensync program. In short, the parameters are the root of PKGBUILDs, sorted in subdirectories (ie. like the ABS tree), the intented name and location of the repository database file, and the directory containing the binary packages.
Let's assume you downloaded the current ABS tree to your hard drive, as well as all matching (same version as in the PKGBUILDs!) packages from a mirror, but you don't want the reiserfsprogs package in your repository. To achieve that, you must remove the /var/abs/base/reiserfsprogs directory, and may optionally remove the binary package, too. Since gensync analyzes the ABS tree you supplied as a parameter, removing the subdirectory of a specific package will cause this very package to not be included in the generated database. Assuming your packages lie in /home/arch/i686/current, your gensync call would look like this:
    gensync /var/abs /home/arch/i686/current/current.db.tar.gz /home/arch/i686/current
If there are any discrepancies like
      - PKGBUILD, but no matching binary package found
      - PKGBUILD and binary package versions do not match
      - permission problems (writing the db file must be possible)
    gensync will gladly complain.
Otherwise you should find the db file in the place you specified. Keep in mind that the name of the db.tar.gz file must be equal to the repository tag in the pacman.conf to use the repo.
To make sure the db contains the right packages; use
    tar -tzf current.db.tar.gz | less
to list the contents. Every package has it's own subdirectory including the metadata, which is rather obvious considering the file's generated from such a structure in the first place.
The binary packages along with a correctly generated db file are all you need. Make the repository directory containing these files available through FTP if local availability doesn't cut it for you, edit your pacman.conf if needed, and use it!
Adding packages works similar; All you need to have is the PKGBUILD in an ABS-like tree (it doesn't have to be the official tree; gensync doesn't care where the files come from. Just stick to one subdirectory per PKGBUILD, and you'll be fine), and the matching packages somewhere else, run gensync with the appropriate directories, and cackle with glee.
    HTH.

  • About Oracle CRM On Demand Integration package

    Hi All,
We are using Staging Environment version of Oracle CRM On demand.
I find description about Oracle CRM On Demand Integration package which can creates a seamless front- and back-office user experience with prebuilt integrations between Oracle CRM On Demand and Oracle E-Business Suite, Siebel CRM, and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne.
Do we have to pay for this package, if do, how much?
I can't find any price information on oracle website.
    Thanks!

Hi, Yes it is paid and has its own technical pre-requisites to deploy and use the same. I believe you may have to speak to your Oracle sales representative to get the pricing related info

  • Oracle equivalent of SQL DTS package

In process of migrating SQL database to Oracle database what is Oracle equivalent of SQL DTS package???

Data transformation services are something totally different, that have nothing to do with migration process. Can you please be more specific with your question? If you really want an answer, then you can consider the conversion phase....
But, again, there is no reason to compare these two.
If you want you can read about Oracle's data warehouse concepts, probably ETL is the true answer to your question

  • SSRS with Oracle Stored Procedures, Functions and Packages

    Hi,
I am working on a BI project. Here we are using PowerPivot to access data from Oracle DB and generate reports. Currently Client generates Few reports using Oracle Stored Procedures, Functions and Packages. We need to move everything to PowerPivot, so
that user can generate all reports using same platform. But PowerPivot doesn'e support Oracle Stored Procedures, Functions and Packages. So we have decided to try those reports using SSRS.
I have no knowledge about using SSRS which will call Oracle function/stored procedures/packages for generating reports.
Can anybody help me in getting exact steps?
Please let me know if my question is not clear enough.
    Thanks and Regards,
    SS

    Hi Visakh,
Thanks for the detailed steps. My next question is:
Is there any other way to develop such reports without using any development tool like Visual Studio? Our aim is to provide a self-serviced reporting platform where user don't need any technical knowledge.
I am sorry I have no knowledge about SSRS and Oracle DB.Can you please have a look at my Oracle function and let me know whether it's possible to execute this using SSRS? (I am pasting one by one as there is a character limit.

  • Remove an oracle home entry from the central repository

Does anyone know how to remove an oracle home entry from the central repository (inventory.xml file), after the oracle home in question has been deleted. It is left behind and I want to clean it up.
    thanks

I went to the link you have posted and it did not help me.
I cannot get rid of my Oracle Home directory. When I attempt to delete this folder, I
    get an error message:
oci.dll ...is write protected or in use..
So I deleted this oci.dll file. Then I rebooted and tried to delete the OraHome directory (folder)
again, and I get the SAME error!!
    Thanks for any advice.

  • TAR archive ignored in package repository

    hello,
according to developer guide (2.6) TAR archives could be used as input format in application package repository. i copied one TAR archive to /opt/vmware/www/ISV/appliancePackages which is used as app repository in my profile. all RPM packages from this repository are installed, but TAR is totally ignored. there is no messages in verbose nor debug logs during build.
does somebody have any experiences with using TAR-s for app deployment?
    regards,
    kaido

It seems like issues with the mirrors you are using. Try this link http://mir.archlinux.fr/extra/os/x86_64 … pkg.tar.xz, it works for me.
UPD: Maybe these issues come from changing package version from 5.3.3-2 to 5.3.3-3.

There are other bugs that affect Arch as well. For example, the "history" command has a very weird behavior. Sometimes it doesn't record my commands at all. I issue a command and then I do
    # history
    or
    $ history
and the recent command(s) that I issued are not there at all! Or sometimes my commands are there, but in a totally scrambled order, totally different from the order in which I issued them! I find this behavior very funny. The up and down arrows to re-issue commands fail to register my latest commands as well.
This is most likely due to your history settings for bash.
Another thing that I find disappointing in Arch is the absence of Linux colors from the console. All other Linux distros that I know of have them. When I use Gnome Terminal as a normal user, I do get Linux colors; but if I switch to superuser and go to / , everything is black and white!
You need to learn to configure your own system, Arch doesn't come preconfigured. It lets you set it up exactly the way you want instead.
I tried to install Konsole (which I prefer to Gnome Terminal), but this package is not in the repositories.
All of KDE is packaged and available in the official repos.
Well, after all, I only installed Arch for fun. I have two laptops; one is my faithful one, with Ubuntu; the other is an old used Dell Latitude D510 that I bought cheap from a guy from Craigslist just the other day. I installed Arch on this one. I came to Concord for the weekend (I live in San Francisco) and I brought it with me, but I also brought my Ubuntu Live CD just in case. And, almost on cue, Arch failed. I did something innocent, like setting the system clock to fall time using the GUI. When I tried to reboot, I got the message:
"Filesystem check failed. Please repair manually and reboot. Note that the root file system is currently mounted read-only. To remount it read-write type: mount -n -o remount,rw
When you exit the maintenance shell the system will reboot automatically."
I did as I was told, and it didn't work. Then I thought, omigawd, the system crashed. But I soon figured out what to do: using my Ubuntu live CD, I typed
    # fsck -f -v  /dev/sda3
and luckily, it fixed the filesystem. Now it's working all right. But I wouldn't trust Arch to do serious work. For that I have my Ubuntu. But I'll continue playing with it.
    Luiz
Learn to configure your system clock automatically based on your time zone instead of manually messing with it, and that error probably wouldn't have happened. It's also not something limited to Arch. This is your misconfiguration issue, not the fault of the distro.
Arch really doesn't seem like it will be a satisfying fit for you, and I really don't think it's worth your time at this point if you're incapable of configuring things on your own or solving your own problems.
Lastly, this is not the thread to be looking for tech support in. Even if it is now obsolete.

  • Incorporating both Arch Linux and a package repository onto one DVD.

    Dear Arch Linux community,
I would like to tell you a little background information about myself before I start to talk about my actual subject. I know that this part of my message does not belong here, but it is my own ritual to do it like this in my first message in every community. I hope I can make friends with people here and try not to harm this community in any way. Thank you for reading this.
I am a 16-year-old male student from Finland and addicted to GNU/Linux and freeware / open source software. My previous experience with GNU/Linux is fairly large; from thin client Debian GNU/Linux administrator to kernel hacker and software developer. My delight is music, particularly writing and composing my own music tracks which vary from classic chiptunes to acid trance and dance beats. Arch Linux seems to be a great GNU/Linux operating system for me, because I am looking for a GNU/Linux distribution that does not focus on desktop, but rather on simplicity and lightweight solutions. I also do not fear "bleeding edge" software which is a positive point for Arch Linux compared to Debian GNU/Linux. As you can probably notice I have been using Debian GNU/Linux before I considered Arch Linux. However now I am here hoping for a totally new experience from Arch Linux.
Enough with my foreword, I would like to now go back to the actual subject. Usually I use DVD media for GNU/Linux images to have both the installer for the GNU/Linux distribution and the main package repository to make installations faster and to have the possibility for an offline installation. As I see, Arch Linux provides only CD images which are approximately 160MB in size, making me to think about incorporating Arch Linux's "Core" and "Extra" package repositories to fill up the remaining 4GB on the DVD. If the "Core" package repository is already included in the Arch Linux CD image, please forgive my lack of information as this is the first time I have ever entered to the world of Arch Linux.
My question is as follows: Is it possible to incorporate Arch Linux and a package repository onto one DVD while retaining the ability to install Arch Linux from that DVD? If positive, how should I go on to do it?
    Thank you in advance!

    No niin, tervetuloa arch-mailmaan.
Ok, I better stop at one sentence before someone gets mad at me .
To answer your question, yes. It is quite possible to put something like that together, heck I think someone suggested we should distribute those some time, but we decided not to (don't quote me, I'm too lazy to read the archives right now) since in most cases pacman will get the job done will job done with less bandwidth waste, and distributing huge snapshots isn't really too conducive to the whole rolling-release thing.
You might want to check out archiso [1], the install scripts [2], and one of my sample archiso configurations [3] that effectively creates an install CD. Now, keep in mind that archiso isn't the *current* way installers are created, but I think it's much more straightforward to work with than what we're using right now. That said, we currently use archboot to create the CDs, so that may be worth taking a look at as well. There is also a really old installer remastering wiki article [4], though not terribly relevant, you could still use a similar technique to pull apart one of our recent install iso's and remaster it with whatever packages you want. Anyhow, if you'd like help with this, I'd be more than happy to give you a hand (I need some more test-cases for archiso...), or if you look at it and go "gee, this is dumb", don't be afraid to send patches. Just get in touch with me through email, jabber, irc, or whatever.
    Good luck

  • Oracle VM 3.1.1 Yum repository

    Hello,
As far as the documentation says, the Yum repository should be set only at the Oracle VM Manager.
    1. Is there a way to add more than one yum repository address ?
    2. Is there a way to check which are the available packages for each Oracle VM server, through the Oracle VM
    3. Is there a way to install just a single package from the repository, not to perform upgrade
    Thanks

It's just ordinary old yum on the server doing the work, so you can do whatever you want. (Maybe Oracle would quibble about what is "supported", of course.)
When you set the yum repository URL from the manager, he just (from what I've seen) sets up the /etc/yum.repos.d file on all the servers. I assume, but haven't checked, that the file wouldn't get updated after that. So, you can update that file to add more repositories, if you want to.
And you can certainly run "yum list updates" and "yum update xxx" manually on whatever servers you want to.

  • Can't use Oracle 8.1.7 as WLP repository

OK, I've been racking my brain on this for three days now.. maybe someone has an
    idea...
The basic problem is this: I have yet been able to make a WLP content repository
    work with
    Oracle 8.1.7 and WLP 8.1.
I have tried several methods, including the ones mentioned here:
http://e-docs.bea.com/wlp/docs81/db/3Oracle.html (to move cgPool to an Oracle
database), and by creating a completely new portal domain from scratch, using
"Custom" (instead of Express) from the configuration wizard, setting up the JDBC
pools to point to Oracle (connection passed, database load passed correctly).
I then deploy a simple Portal Application / Portal Project created in workshop
    as an EAR
(let's call it testPortal). Deployment seems to go fine. The outcome of all
methods is the same: the administration portal works fine. When I click on "Content",
I see the BEA repository. I can add nodes to the repository, AS LONG AS THEY
ARE DIRECTLY UNDER the BEA repository (for example: BEA Repository/TestNode).
However, if I try to add a node under that node (for example: BEA Repository/TestNode/TestNodeChild),
I get the following error from the admin portal as a popup box:
    - Error creating Node: TestChildNode. Please verify the Node name size is within
    Repository limits.
I can add any number of content items (including the standard content types that
    were loaded:
article, book, image, etc) or nodes directly under BEA Repository, but I cannot
add anything under other nodes or the above error appears.
Some data is definitely getting to Oracle. After adding a node under BEA Repository,
a record for that node shows up in the database. The JDBC log shows an ORA-2291
    (constraint violated) error (from jdbc.log):
    java.sql.SQLException: ORA-02291: integrity constraint (DIAGEOCMS.FK1_CM_NODE)
    v
iolated - parent key not found
This foreign key constraint is a pointer for the parent id of the node, back into
    the cm_node table.
If I roll back the cgPool to pointbase, it works fine. Just not with an Oracle
    8.1.7 cgPool
(or any other name, for that matter). I have tested this under both Win 2K and
    Linux AS.
Other details: I did use a non-XA driver as suggested in the edocs link above.
For the cgPool, I used the Oracle Type 4 non-XA driver. I changed all the relevant
data sources to point at the new pool. And I did change the cgJMS store to use
    the new pool as well.
Is anyone else successfully using Oracle 8.1.7 and Portal 8.1 with the repository?
Sorry for the length of the message.. difficult one to explain.
    Thanks,
    Bob

    D'oh.
OK, it turns out that our staging database was NOT the Oracle 8.1.7.4 I thought
it was. Migrated from the 8.1.7.0 database to 8.1.7.4 resolved this problem.

  • Oracle stored procedure in a package

    Hello,
I'm working on a Web service -> XI -> Oracle scenario.
In the receiver side I'm using JDBC Adapter to call to stored procedure.
I have stored procedure in a package.
For example: package "price_list_pk" and stored procedure "is_pl".
When I try to enter the stored procedure path to XML tags I need to separate between the package and the stored procedure with dot "." and dot is not allowed in XML tag.
I want to now if you have answer for this problem
Have other way to work with stored procedure in packages?
    Elad

    Hey everyone,
What Elad means is that in the XML structure of JDBC there are 2 places you define the DB\SP name:
    1. Defined in the structure itself as an element name. (DT)
    2. Mapped with a constant to a subelement called TABLE. (MM)
The MM shouldn't be a problem as a value can get the dot character.
But, in the DT structure, because you define here a XSD (XML structure) there is a problem naming the element with the dot character being part of the name as this character is not accepted in a XML tagname.
The right question is if anyone knows of a special XML attribute with which you could define that the element name would contain a dot character? Or else a creative way to call a Stored Procedure inside a Package despite the disabilities above?

  • Oracle TNS 12535 error after moving repository DB from Win NT to Win 2K

    Business Objects 5.1
We have recently moved an Oracle database from Windows NT to Windows 2000. One particular user keeps on getting ORA-12535: TNS: operation timed out.
    What could be causing this?
The user can run SQL*Plus and connect to the database without any problems.
The user gets this error when running BO itself. When running our Application or any other Oracle tool or utility (TOAD, SQL*Plus), etc, then all works fine.
From my own PC I can use the 'problem' users BO login to connect to the repository.
So the nature of the problem suggests a network or configuration issue of some kind. We have limited BO expertise at this site.
    Please can someone advise?
    regards,
    MK

    Hi Mo,
If the previous solution provided doesnu2019t works then check the following things:
    1. Check the ORACLE_HOME value in the Registry and ensure that your PC has only one "ociw32.dll" file.
    2. Confirm that the PATH environment variable definition's first Oracle /bin folder path points to the middleware
installation you intend Supervisor to use.
    3. Add the repository database server's IP address to the local HOSTS file.
    4. Confirm the repository database's entry in the Oracle TNSNames.ora file.
