Oracle VM Server 3.1.1 Network problem

I installed Oracle VM Server 3.1.1 on HP ProLiant BL460c G1 Blade Server.
Installation had no problem, but network doesn't work at all.
If I write "ipconfig -a" I have this response:

So - I think - my system recognize network cards.
I can ping loopback and server ifself, but I cannot ping nothing more.

  • Oracle VM 3.1.1, Oracle VM Server, PeopleSoft Templates and networking

    I have installed Oracle VM Manager on an Oracle Linux x86_64 system, all freshly installed, and two Oracle VM Server 6 systems also freshly installed. These three servers are each connected to two networks. One is a 192.168.15.0/24 ("net-A"), and the other is 10.8.15.0/24 ("net-B"). net-B also has the fileserver for the repositories et al directly attached. "net-A" is connected to the outside world. This is all working great; all servers can intercommunicate, can be reached from other devices on each network, et cetera. I can ssh from any machine on the network to these machines, and vice versa. All servers correctly use the internal and the external DNS, and can communicate with Google, et cetera. Excellent!
    Now, I have downloaded the templates for PeopleSoft HCM9.1, and PeopleSoft PeopleTools 8.52, and have successfully created Virtual Machines from these. The VMs start up and run successfully, and I have gone through the startup configuration prompts using the Oracle VM "Launch Console" feature.
    My problem is that I have not yet figured out how Oracle VM Networking is supposed to work, and so I cannot get these machines to talk to each other nor to the outside world. And I cannot ping them from other devices on the network, either. Obviously, there's no advantage to having a PeopleSoft server running when one cannot attach to it. I've read through the documentation numerous times, and I've pored through http://itnewscast.com/chapter-7-oracle-vm-networking-8021q document over and over, but I get lost in the virtual-upon-virtual-upon-virtual world. Maybe (probably) it's me, but I am not getting how this fits together, and where/how the virtual-ness of the network ends. Plus, all of the configurations in that itnewscast.com Chapter 7 article involve at least one switch (virtual maybe? not clear!) between the VMM and the VMS, and I don't have a switch invoved in this network... it's flat, with everything on the same wire.
    My Oracle VM network is super simple at present: There is exactly one network ("ps-net"), and it runs all five network channels (server management, live migrate, storage, etc.). Both servers are on this network, and the NIC used is the "net-B" NIC. There is no VLAN, and the IP addresses are set by DHCP. Bonding, the configuration display says, is Not applicable. Since these devices are on the same NIC as "net-B," I provided the 10.8.15.x network information when prompted, and assigned them fixed IP addresses on that network. For "gateway," I specified the address of the VMM, not knowing what else to use. And, as I said, these VM don't talk to anything, not even to each other.
    My needs are very simple. The shame is I've built all this up for the express purpose of running those two templates, and it's been a battle, to say the least, to get this far. Who can point me to the error of my ways, or a better way to accomplish this end?

    OK. Out of desire to resolve this, I have completely removed the 192.* network from this configuration, by disconnecting the eth0 networks, and changing the ifcfg-eth0 to ONBOOT=no (yes, I know either action should suffice).
    So there is exactly one network involved now. (Greg King said that's OK, if scalability is not an issue, and if he said it, I believe it. I'll complicate it later, after I get simple working.) And one VMS is out of the configuration for now. So I have ora-vmm at 10.8.15.49 ora-vms1 at 10.8.15.47, and the fileserver at 10.8.15.50. ora-vms2 is at 10.8.15.48, but is down for now. The server pool address is set to 10.8.15.1. The network looks like this:

    I don't understand why, but the VMM has placed this entry into each server's /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts directory:

    I am able to start the guest with no issue. It has been configured with IP address 10.8.15.101, netmask 255.255.255.0. Its gateway is 10.8.15.50, the same network configuration as all the other servers.
    The important parts of ifconfig output from the guest (which I must manually type since Launch Console provides no copy/paste functionality) are:

  • Oracle RAC / Logical Data Guard causing network problems on VMware

    We have VMWare 5.0 cluster across the 12 blades (6 per chassis) running a mixture of Red Hat and Windows 2008 R2 vms. The Red Hat boxes are two times two node Oracle RAC (primary and secondary), also apache web servers and jboss application servers. The Windows servers are for AV/DC/Management/Monitoring.
    The problem is that intermittent network connectivity to random Windows and Red Hat boxes occur when the Oracle RAC builds up archive logs and then ships / applies them to the secondary nodes, between ESX nodes either on different blades in the same chassis or across the chassis and even when all RAC nodes are on the same ESX host.
    We are using NFS, Oracle 11g and Red Hat 6.2.

    1.) The calculation for Standby RedoLogs is:
    (Max Number of Logfiles per thread (Instance) +1) * Max Number of Threads (Instances))
    So if you have 4 Redo Log Groups on your primary (which is 2 Redo Log Groups per Instance), then it ends up:
    (2 +1) * 2 = 6
    So actually you will only need 6 standby redo logs, not 8. But 2 more don't harm.
    Your primary will need exactly the same number (6 or in your case 8). Which will be 3 per thread/instance or in your case 4.
    2.) The SID List in the listener.ora is a listing of SIDs the Listener is listening on. It is not the listener name.
    Hence it is not "lsnrctl guard_dgmgrl start" but only "lsnrctl LISTENER start", whereas the LISTENER is the default and "lsnrctl start" would be sufficient.
    However since this is grid infrastructure with the listener running out of ASM home, be sure to have set your environment to GI Home not to DB_HOME for the listener.ora entries, but to DB_HOME for the tnsnames.ora entries necessary for data guard.
    And since listener is running under clusterware you should use "srvctl stop listener" and start.
    Last but not least the SID entries for dataguard have to use DGMGRL not dgmgrl.

    ok, but my W2K3 Machine keeps getting 169.xxx ip. My host is wireless , the virtual switch is ok, since I have other 4 VM (W2K8, W2K8R2, W2012, W2012R2) working fine with that switch and having access to the internet, just this VM with W2K3 is not working.

    Please check the properties of your NIC adapter in W2K3 if the Client for Microsoft Network is installed.
    And also try to compare the network setting for other VMs NICs in Hyper-V to find the deference.
    I would create new VM and install clean W2K3 for testing.

    I  have 2 hard disks and configure as RAID1, than create 2 virtual drives for OS (40GB) and Local Storage Repository (250GB) already.
    During VM Server installation, I saw 3 drives (a, b, c) and I don't know why drive C is created automatically?
    drive A: OS = 40GB, file system: ext3
    drive B: Storage Repository = 250GB, file system: ext3
    drive C: 3GB, file system: vfat
    I have to delete this drive C or not? if delete, it affect to system or not? how to delete it?

  • Oracle report server problem

    Hi all
    I install oracle application server 10gR2 on THREE servers (windows server 2003)
    all the servers on the same doman.
    so that means I have three oracle report server on the network.
    but when I run the following command (rwdiag -findAll)on one of the servers, it gives me just two oracle report server exist on the network the third on is missing despite that it is up.
    And when I execute the same command (rwdiag -findAll) on the same server which contains the report server which I have problem with, it gives me that it is on the network.

  • Portlet problem on Oracle Portal Server....

    Hi all,
    i m using Oracle Portal Server 10.1.2.
    Problem is as follows:-
    There are two portlets (P1, P2) added on two seperate portal tabs( TB1,TB2) respectively under Portal Builder.
    On portlet P1 when i do a action say Save and it saves the data.
    now i go to portlet P2 which is on tab TB2 and when i come back on TB1 to go on portlet P1 then in the PortletRenderRequest i still get action value as Save and it saves the previous data once more.
    in short....:- even moving on portal tabs the previous action of the last rendered portlet is firing.
    how it is persisting the action in request , even after i have done with moving on portal tabs.
    even on refreshing the page it is adding the same data again.
    But this doesn't happen with IBM Portal Server.(Tested the same code with all the above conditions)
    could any one please have some thoughts ???

    One good thing i found is
    When i perform the same operations (as described in the first post of this thread) with JSR168 Portlets then it is working Perfectly.
    So i feel , only the problem is with JPDK Porltet and not with Oracle Portal Server.
    It's good to see that JSR168 are working fine except

    I am trying to install Oracle Email Server in a e-Business Suite(LInux) environment.
    My system:
    E-Business Suite 11.5.0 is installed in Linux
    Oracle Email Server 5.2.0 is installed in Windows 2000 Server
    And on my network I have a Exchange Server
    My first problem is that I can’t find any Windows sendmail to connect my Oracle email Server. I have found a sendmail “copy”( http://www.indigostar.com/sendmail.htm) but only use command line to send/receive emails.
    And Second, how to connect my Oracle Email Server to my Exchange network? Only a smtp/pop connector between the two will do?
    If anyone can help it would be great.

    Hi JailBreak!
    I know that the 8.1.7 version of the database on Linux was not perfect.
    The approach you took is somewhat valid but be aware that there are some issues (at least I hit them in my last project with HP-UX) where the combination of Oracle 9i with the ES 5.2.2 is tricky (need the patch libraries in the 9i tree and so on.
    So my advise would be the following:
    - Install an 8.1.7 software tree - build no db yet (you already did this)
    - Install the ES 5.2 - do not run the imconfig yet
    - Install the ES 5.2 Patchset 2
    - Build a database
    - Run the imconfig
    - Configure sendmail
    This will work! I did this so often I can guarantee you that this will work.
    However be careful - the configuration of the EMail Center is very dificult and the documentation is somewhat vague about which values to fill in.
    Try to have an english setup of the EMC as it makes life easier to compare the screens with the manuals.

  • In TestStand 2.0, will a record be lost if an Oracle database server is down? Can it be written to a file to be entered later?

    I currently have TestStand 2.0 setup to log information to an Oracle 8i server located on a network. Everything works correctly; however, if I lose the network connection, what happens to the database record that is,or would be, created? Is it lost? Can it be saved to a file and entered into the database at a later date?

    TestStand has no built in mechanism for handling a database that is offline. The logging sequence will generate an error if it is unable to write. You could modify the sequence to trap the error, write to a backup file, and then transfer the records when the database is back on line. What we're implementing here is to always write to a local database and an ActiveX component running in the background transfers records to the network database when it is available.

  • Oracle Application Server 10.1.3 R3 - Restart problem and out of memory

    Dear All,
    I am using Oracle App Server 10.1.3 Release 3. After deploying EAR, my server is runnig for some time. But after some time its getting restarted. I m not able to find out its permanent solution.
    If you see below log, it showing out of memeory error. But even though i have increase memeory to 2 gb, i m getting the same problem.
    Please help my ASAP.

    It looks like your PermGen space is too small. Try modifying your opmn start parameters; use java option -XX:MaxPermSize to increase your PermGen space.

  • Problem in oracle application server 10g

    hi all
    i have problem with application server 10g
    my situation :
    oracle database 10g release 2
    oracle application server 10g ( forms,reports)
    and i installed the database and application server on the same computer , and with windows xp service pack 2 os
    my problem is when i start the computer that connected to a network some services of application server not working , note that no problems with the database
    and i installed node 32 antivirus
    can any one help me plz ?

    Wich processes don't start? do you have this services in Automatic?
    Can you try to pass the to manual, and start the procs suing opmnctl command and check the logs of it?

  • Unable to connect to network after Installing Oracle VM server 2.2.1

    Dear All,
    I have downloaded Oracle VM Server 2.2.1 from Oracle E-Delivery Site.
    I installed it on one server. But after installing it I am not able to connect to the network.
    When I am trying to ping other servers, it says Destination Host Unreachable.
    Do I need to install something for NIC like eth0 or xenbr0... or network connectivity?
    Can anyone have soluiton of this problem?

    I checked on other machines on same network, they have configured same netmask configured.

Maybe you are looking for
