Oracle WebCenter Installation on Apple Mac OS X 10.6.6

Could anyone tried to install Oracle WebCenter 11G PS3 on Apple Mac OS X (version 10.6.6) 64bit machine? I downloaded Oracle RCU (11.1.1.5.0) utility for linux (file name: ofm_rcu_linux_11.1.1.5.0_disk1_1of1.zip) and tried to run rcu as follows after unzipping it:-
cd RCU_HOME/bin
./rcu
but i got following error:
Current Platform is not supported.
Supported Platforms are : Linux and Windows.
Can anyone do let me know what is the issue?

It depends on what you want to do... If you just want to mess around with WebCenter, download the prebuild VM.
If you want o do some serious development than you should install your own WebCenter VM. Use Oracle Linux and install webcenter/ucm on it. It's just a few hours work. It probably goes faster than when you need to download the prebuild VM :)

Similarly, OP needs to MODIFY Snow Leopard by adding the appropriate infrastructure, executables, and configuration to meet the install requirements. Just because that implies a different kernel and system libs doesn't mean it can't be done.

  • "Oracle Universal Installer" instead of "Oracle Webcenter Suite 10.1.3.2.0"

    Hi,
I've installed HTTP_Server from [Oracle HTTP Server (Apache 2.0) (10.1.3.3.0) for Microsoft Windows (32-bit)|http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle11g/111060_win32soft.html] ; unfortunately, I was unable to control the installation process (select advanced install, password, hostname, port number...), because I got the "Oracle Universal Installer" instead of the "Oracle Webcenter Suite 10.1.3.2.0 Installation" screen, as shown in the installation documentation.
Although I suspect I'll be able to configure via the various configuration files, I've had to install every single component, instead of just the one I need. Has anyone encountered the same problem and know how to fix it?
    Thanks,
    Chris.

Actually, my problem is that I was not prompted to choose between basic and advanced; that's in the "Oracle Webcenter Suite 10.1.3.2.0 Installation" screens, as seen in the installation instructions. But the "Oracle Universal Installer" screen that I get when I click setup.exe doesn't give you that choice.
This isn't actually a big deal, because HTTP_Server was still correctly installed, but I had to configure it manually. I'm just trying to figure out why it is that I didn't get the correct installer.
Does anyone know how I can get the "Oracle Webcenter Suite 10.1.3.2.0 Installation" application instead of the "Oracle Universal Installer"?

I got it working and thought I'd better shared my newly gained knowledge:
I followed the installation instructions as described in ReleaseNotes.pdf.
Only instead of running the DBENV script as a shell script I run the individual steps in the script manually.
The reason I did this was because I found out that the environment variables were not set even though the output of the script showed that they were set.
This is problably some Mac thing which I do not really understand, yet.

    Can any one suggest ??
    Regards.
    shyam

Oracle database is currently supported only on Mac Power PC platforms and the highest possible opsystem is Tiger not Leopard as in Your case. And only 10gR1.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/support/metalink/index.html
And error message should be longer, with concrete library name.
    Try to do following
    cd /
    find . -name "name_of_the_library.dylib"
And then adjust DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH to meet the path/

  • Install APEX 4.0 on Apple Mac

    Hi,
Can someone please let me know if it's possible to use an Apple Mac Mini as a dedicated Oracle Apex Server?
I'm just looking for the simplest way to install Apex on a Mac Mini
I would ideally like to use OSX operating system but failing that I would be prepared to dual boot the Mac Mini with Windows and install Apex on that.
Anyway, the OTN website states the following:
Note: Oracle Application Express 4.0 is supported on all Editions (SE1, SE, EE, and XE)
of the Oracle database, 10.2.0.3 or higher. Application Express 4.0 can also be used
with Oracle Database 10g Express Edition. We specifically support the following platforms:
    - Mac OS X ServerThis seems good news. The thing I do not understand is can I install Oracle SE or EE on OSX? I do not believe XE is available on OSX.
Would I need OSX Server or would OSX Leopard be enough?
Sorry for all the questions hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

You need to concentrate on the steps required for installing Oracle on your Mac OS.
If you can install Oracle you can install Apex . Apex lives inside the Oracle instance ( if i may say so ). Apex is just a small little bunch ( a few hundred thousand lines ) of pl/sql code in packages, procedures and functions .
Just go ahead and install Oracle RDBMS, follow the Apex installation step and you will be ok and ready for more Apex "how to" posts ;-)

Apple Mac is not a suitable platform to install oracle products. You can take a look at the Oracle Certify Matrix and you can build up your own conclusions.
In this case, use your Apple Mac for documentation, get a Microsoft Windows Based platform, and choose a certified platform.

  • I have a Apple Mac desktop and recently was unable to access any YouTube, movies, videos, etc because a "Blocked Plug-in" message comes up with no error message. It asks to upload Abode Reader, but upon completion of this the message is the same.

I have a Apple Mac desktop and recently can no longer access Youtube, videos, movies, etc because I get a message reading "Blocked Plug-in". There's no error message but it does say to upload Abode Flash Player and the problem will be solved. I do this but it doesn't fix the problem. What am I doing wrong?

if you already downloaded the adobe flash player onto your mac and still getting that message that means you need to finish the installation of the flash player
you do this by opening a finder window and going to your downloads, find the flash player in here and then double click on it and follow the prompts to complete the installation.
after this is completed you will need to completely quit out of the web browser you're using then reopen it for the change to take affect and your issue should be resolved. if it's not you need to contact adobe their number is 800 642-3623.

    Hi,
I just had this messages yesterday during my install.
You have to update those 2 files:
    <RCU Home>\rcu\integration\ipm\sql\createtables_ipm_sqlserver.sql
    <RCU Home>\rcu\integration\ipm\sql\createuser_ipm_sqlserver.sql
The first 2 lines begin with "Rem ..." which is not correct for SQL Server : I added "--" and it worked.
    Regards,
    Guénaël
