Oracle XBRL extension - Validation

Hi,
I'm wondering how to perform a validation checking and I had find everywhere but fruitless results.
After using DBMS_ORAXBRL.BULKLOADXBRLFILES(1, 'sample', 'schema.xml', NULL);
How do I validate the loaded xbrl files? And also, do I still need to register the taxonomy through this method? If I do, how can I do it?
I can't find any sufficient resources to solve this! :(

Ask Oracle support for help via a SR on support.oracle.com. Normally they would refuse help on "syntax" and other knowledge issues, but you might get help if you ask to address the call to the XMLDB dev team directly. I will notify the Sr Product Manager regarding this thread.

    Oracle XBRL Extension Ready for Download

    The new ready to download Oracle XBRL Extension is a “no cost option” on top of the latest Oracle Database 11.2.0.2.0 release. With this added functionality you will get a database environment that contains One or more back-end XBRL repositories based on Oracle Database, which provide XBRL storage and query-ability with a set of XBRL-specific services An external XBRL processing engine (XPE)
    The XBRL Extension to Oracle XML DB integrates easily with Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) for analytics and with interactive development environments (IDEs) and design tools for creating and editing XBRL taxonomies.

    For Brian:
    What was it you wanted to announce:
    the availability if the release 2 or the fact that OEM 2.2 makes 8.1.7 inaccessible?
    thanks much

  • Generate reports from Oracle XBRL Extension

    Hi, does Oracle XBRL Extension allow us to generate a nicely formatted XBRL report from a XBRL instance file (extension xbrl) out of the box without any external software?

    Probably only doable by building your own PL/SQL code based on the XBRL metadata

  • XBRL Extension - loading/deleting instance?

    Hi,
    I have the XBRL Extension installed on Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production.
    I loaded a taxonomy (with loadSchema and loadLinkbase procedures) and several instances (with loadInstance procedure) without any problems. I can also delete an instance, but if I want to reload that instance, or another instance, using the same location I get:
    > EXEC DBMS_ORAXBRL.loadInstance('/test/istance1.xbrl', XMLType(BFILENAME(BASE_DIR, '/istance1.xbrl'), nls_charset_id('AL32UTF8')));
    ok
    > EXEC DBMS_ORAXBRL.deleteInstance('/test/istance1.xbrl');
    ok
    > EXEC DBMS_ORAXBRL.loadInstance('/test/istance1.xbrl', XMLType(BFILENAME(BASE_DIR, '/istance1.xbrl'), nls_charset_id('AL32UTF8')));
    ORA-20023: Delete Instance Failed: ORA-31001: Invalid resource handle or path name "/xbrl/xbrlsys/xbrlrc.xml"
    ORA-06512: at "XBRLSYS.DBMS_ORAXBRL", line 1506
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    What I did wrong? Is it a bug? I have the same issue if I execute DBMS_ORAXBRL.deleteFolder('/test') instead of deleteInstance. No problems if I change the location to '/test/istance2.xbrl' or similar...
    Furthermore, is it possible to update an instance without deleting it before?
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi,
    no news for this issue?
    For the last question, I found that the guide (APIs – XBRL Extension to Oracle XML DB) says:
    loadInstance: Load one instance document into the XBRL repository. If the document is present in the repository, replace it.
    but this sentence is not reported in the detailed API.
    I tried to execute the loadInstance procedure specifying the same instanceLoc but I get another error:
    ORA-20026: Load instance failed: ORA-31003: Parent "/test/" already contains child entry "instance1.xbrl"
    ORA-06512: at "XBRLSYS.DBMS_ORAXBRL", line 1518
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    Can you give me support to resolve this problem?
    Thanks

    I'm getting an error message when trying to install the Oracle Rdb Extension (7.3).
    I'm not sure if that extension has been upgraded for sql developer 4. Extensions written for previous versions won't work in sql developer 4 - they need to be modified to support the OSGI framework.
    Leave the thread open until one of the sql developer team members can answer this.
    Here is the note from the sql developer exchange home page
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/extensions-083825.html
    Special Note Regarding Extensions Developed Prior to SQL Developer
    v4.0:
    With the new release of SQL
    Developer 4.0, an extension that was written for a previous version of SQL
    Developer will no longer work. SQL Developer is built on the JDeveloper
    Framework. We have updated the framework to be current with the JDeveloper 12c
    release. With JDeveloper 11gR2, they switched to an OSGI framework. The JDeveloper team has published instructions for updating your extensions to be compatible with
    the new framework and SQL Developer v4.0.
    The Check for Updates interface
    has been updated to hide any 3rd party extensions to avoid confusion with
    extensions not loading. Once you have updated your extension for version 4 and
    beyond, let us know, and we'll update the system to make it available again. For
    questions regarding the process of going from the old to new framework, we have
    started a dedicated
    thread on the Forums. You can also email the Product Manager, Jeff Smith, to
    setup a call with one of our developers for additional assistance.
    As that note says if that extension is NOT for version 4 it shouldn't show up on the list of updates.

  • Workaround for using Oracle JDBC extension with WLS pooling

    Reading the newsgroup I saw that many of us encountered the problems
    with ClassCastException when tried to use Oracle JDBC extension
    with WLS pooling. I also had.
    In this case BEA recommends to use dangerous
    method getVendorConnection() which exposes
    the physical connection object to your code.
    Yes it's really dangerous because of unsafe usage may breaks
    WLS pooled connection(s).
    Moreover, this practice will make your JDBC code
    unportable (your JDBC code in addition to Oracle dependence
    became Weblogic dependent):
    void doSmth() {
    Connection con = ...;
    Connection vCon = ((WLConnection)con).getVendorConnection();
    // + mess of usage con in one places and vCon in others
    // (where Oracle extensions are needed)
    // !Don't forget to don't close vCon!
    Sux.
    I found the workaround.
    Introduction
    ============
    Yes the real cause of ClassCastException is that
    in depth of Oracle driver the casting
    to class oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleConnection
    (not to interface oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection)
    is performed.
    Someone can say that this is bug or pure desing.
    Weblogic pooled connection provide dynamic
    implementation for all public interfaces
    which real physical (wrapped) connection object implements.
    Great feature!
    But I guess that all interface methods implemented
    by simple call-delegation to physical (wrapped) connection object.
    In case of oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection interface
    this approach doesn't work for at least one its method:
    public OracleConnection unwrap()
    WLS pooled connection shoudn't implement this method by
    delegation to physical connection object BUT should
    return physical connection object itself!
    // Wrong implementation of unwrap()
    // delegation is used
    public OracleConnection unwrap() {
    return physicalConnection.unwrap();
    // Right implementation of unwrap()
    // physical connection returned
    public OracleConnection unwrap() {
    return physicalConnection;
    Workaround
    ==========
    1. Develop your own OracleConnection wrapper class:
    import oracle.jdbc.OracleConnection;
    import weblogic.jdbc.extensions.WLConnection;
    public class MyOracleConnectionImpl implements OracleConnection {
    private OracleConnection con;
    public MyOracleConnectionImpl(OracleConnection connection)
    throws SQLException
    this.con = connection;
    public OracleConnection unwrap() {
    return (OracleConnection)
    ((WLConnection)con).getVendorConnection();
    /* Implement all other methods by delegation to con object */
    2. Don't get Connections directly from DataSource --
    develop your own simple (may be static) utility
    class which retrives Connections from dataSource
    and returns them wrapped into your MyOracleConnectionImpl
    to your code from some method:
    puclic abstract class MyConnectionSource {
    public static Connection getConnection() {
    Connection con = // get it from DataSource
    return new MyOracleConnectionImpl((OracleConnection)con);
    3. Add attribute RemoveInfectedConnectionsEnabled="false"
    to definition of your JDBCConnectionPool within config.xml
    You may do it because of you `safely` use vendorConnection --
    you don't expose it to application code.
    4. Enjoy the Oracle JDBC extensions in your code!
    Example:
    Connection con = MyConnectionSource.getConnection;
    ArrayDescriptor add =
    ArrayDescriptor.createDescriptor("your_type", con);
    Hope it helps to someone.

    Hello Eugene Voytitsky,
    Thanks Eugene Voytitsky for your idea
    I have tried the solution suggested by You, but it did not work.
    It still throws ClassCastException.
    I am sorry for posting the whole code of two classes below.
    I did this to give you more clarity.
    I am also indicating the place where the exception was thrown..
    Please let me know if I am doing something wrong.

    Hej,
    I'm looking for a definition of all Oracle XPath extensions. Especially I'm thinking of the additional XPath functions available in the BPEL server engine. In a tutorial I found that the extensions should be documented at http://schemas.oracle.com/xpath/extension but this URL is not working.

    hi all,

    Hi scsi-boy:
    I have no trouble reading a Timestamp from Oracle...it's trying to write or update one (and unfortunately, I have to do as I said to get it done).
    you shouldn't have to import the oracle sql package
    That's precisely the point -- I am not trying to use any Oracle specific stuff.. It wouldn't be all that difficult for them to do the casting inside of the driver, instead they just add the following comments to their example:
           // Writing data to Lobs:
            // There are no methods to do this with java.sql.Clob/Blob.
            // For oracle.sql.CLOB there is getAsciiOutputStream() to write via
            // an ascii stream and getCharacterOutputStream() to write via a
             // unicode one, plus putChars() to write a char array and putString()
             // to write a String - both at a given position within the Clob.  For
             // oracle.sql.BLOB there is getBinaryOutputStream() and putBytes().
            // There are also oracle.jdbc.driver classes to do similar that
            // take oracle.sql.CLOB/BLOB as appropriate, namely:
            //       OracleBlobOutputStream()
            //       OracleClobOutputStream()
            //       OracleClobWriter()
            // (Note all three classes have corresponding input/reader classes.)
            // Hence to write data to the lobs here it is necessary to cast the
             // Clob and Blob to oracle.sql.CLOB and oracle.sql.BLOB respectively
             // and use one of the methods listed above.  E.g. to append to the
            // clob column:
            ((oracle.sql.CLOB)c_lob).putString( (int)c_lob.length()+1, "\nBye!" );The example can be found at the link shown below (you may have to do a free sign-up to view it):

    Error: Extension ID oracle.psr.extensions.putsetup in extension.xml does not match jar filename oracle.psr.junit.psrjunit
    could anyone please help me?

    Hi Sandeesh,
    From the error
    com.sapportals.wcm.repository.InvalidUriException: Invalid RID: collaboration/room/extensions/cm/stores/Uplink_Documents/workspaces
    it looks like your store is not configured correctly.
    Please check that the store is configured properly. Navigate to System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Collaboration -> Room -> Stores and check that the "Documents" store is configured properly.
    Hope this helps.

  • Oracle Beehive Extensions for Outlook (OBEO) Download

    Where can I download the Oracle Beehive Extensions for Outlook (OBEO) . Please send me the link.

    OBEO is part of the server download. Normally, it is deployed to the clients only from an installed Beehive server, and updated automatically, too. There are instructions to do a manual install in "lock down environments", see here.

  • OracleAS Portal Extension for Macromedia Dreamweaver

    Were you ever wondering, how you can integrate Portal pages seamlessly into your Web site ? You can now using our extension for Macromedia Dreamweaver. Simply create or edit OracleAS Portal UI Templates directly from within Dreamweaver. These UI Templates can be used as "skins" for your Portal page. The extension also provides support for the UI Template substitution tags from Dreamweaver's Insert Panel.
    For more information, go to http://portalcenter.oracle.com and click on Integration Solutions.

    Hi,
    I am testing the integration and encountering some problems :
    my portalTemplate.ear was deployed to a standalone OC4J instance (904).
    The portalTemplate.xml contains valid information ( tested with sqlplus ).
    The Dreamweaver extension was correctly installed.
    When I try to login to Portal, i get a "There was an error connecting to Portal. Please check the db connection in portalTemplate.xml" .
    I thought about many potential causes like starting my OC4J instance with -Dhttp.proxyHost and -Dhttp.proxyPort or to provide LDAP users credentials instead of db credentials when login in ... what's wrong ?
    PS : When navigating to http://localhost:8888/portalTemplate/portalTemplate?operation=getName I cannot invoke the operation successfully; I get the same error "Error in making the database connection".

  • GeoRaptor – Oracle Spatial extension for Project Raptor

    Hello,
    As GIS professionals using Oracle Spatial we suffer by the lack of support for Spatial management features in professional database management and development tools like Toad. We were very excited when Project Raptor arrived, because it is based on JDeveloper platform and allows Java developers to extend its functionality with custom extensions, so we decided to start open source project GeoRaptor. Our primary goal is to extend functionality of Raptor, so that it provides most needed tools for developers and DBAs that use Oracle Spatial. Right now extension only includes functionality to update metadata and geometry validation but we have many ideas for the future. Some useful links:
    Main page: http://sourceforge.net/projects/georaptor

    Installation via Raptor update center : http://georaptor.sourceforge.net/

    Please, let as know, what you think about a project and what functionality would you like to see in future releases.

    Hello,
    I publish new version that include "Spatial view" module (see links below for more details). For now you can see only Polygon type for Spatial objects, but in the feature.....

  • Oracle Linux 6 validated packages

    Hi,
    At the moment there's no oracle-validated packages for Oracle Linux 6. Does anyone know Oracle plans to make them available ?
    Regards
    Joao

    It's been a couple months since the last post , and this thread is one of the first hits that came up in my trouble shooting while trying to install the oracle-validated package against an oracle Linux 6 test installation inside a virtualbox. It's rather difficult following the various articles and knowledgebases when a lot of them refer to the oracle-validated package, assuming that it's there or you have oel5--.
    Anyhow, just thought I'd re-ask for an update, if anybody knows an eta for when it may be available. Failing that, asking whether in may 2011 we are advised to be moving forward with oel6 or remaining on earlier versions. Cheers!
