Oracle XE 10.2.0.1 ODBC driver load error 1114

Hi everyone,
we've got an error in a software application of us using a System DSN in Windows. The system DSN is using the Oracle 10g XE Client ver. 10.2.0.1.
When we test the connection in the DSN profile, the system responds "connection succesfull", but when we connect through our application, we obtain a "failed to load the specified driver. System error 1114 (Oracle in XE Client)".
Even more strange the fact that our application initially worked well: only after uninstalling the Oracle XE Client and reinstalling it (always with the same domain user) the things suddenly stopped working...
I've already read something similar in this forum and I've tried to put MFC71.dll and MSVCR71.dll into "C:\xeclient\bin" as suggested (and also executed "C:\xeclient\bin\ODPreg.exe"), but with no results...
I've also read about the suggestion to use the client version 10.1...
Is this actually the unique solution? This client version means to download the 10g client "standard", isn't it? (I do not find a 10.1 version of the "express edition" in the Oracle web site).
Thank you very much for your help.
Luca Zancan

I've tried the 10.1 ODBC driver and it seems to work correctly.
Now I'd like to know if Oracle has the intention of making available a new version of the XE Client in the near future or if the adoption of the previous version is the only solution...

  • Oracle ODBC Driver Specifc Error Codes

    Dear All,
    I'm currently working in a migration assignment.I'm looking for a Technical document which consists error codes specific to Oracle ODBC Driver(ver.9.00.11.00).Any help in this regard will be appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sam

    There shouldn't be any Oracle ODBC Driver specific error codes. When you're talking about ODBC and error codes, there are two possibilities-
    1) You're looking at the SQLState return codes. These are part of an ISO standard (they're more than happy to sell you a copy) and are documented in the ODBC Programmer's Reference from Microsoft as well as most decent ODBC guides.
    2) You're looking at the Oracle specific error codes that are returned as the error text in ODBC. These (potentially) depend on the version of the database you're connecting to, rather than the version of the client software you have, and are covered in Oracle's error message manual available at tahiti.oracle.com

  • Oracle 10g Express Edition Beta 3 ODBC Driver Always Crashes

    I find that if you set up an ODBC Data Source for Oracle 10g Express Edition on Windows XP SP2 using the "Oracle in XE" driver, anything that tries to access it will crash, even the Windows ODBC Data Source Administratior if you click the "Test Connection" button.
    Having clicked the button, you get a window coming up entitled "Oracle ODBC Driver" with a yellow exclamation mark in it, with no other text in the window except for an OK button.
    If you press OK, then it crashes and goes through the "Please tell Microsoft about this problem" process....

    Hi,
    Thanks for your comment, but I can't get onto the XE forum.
    I found http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/xe/forum.html which says:
    Forum registration is possible only by downloading and installing Oracle Database XE. After installation, click on the "Registration" link from the Database homepage.
    However I find that the "Database Homepage" does not exist.
    Choosing the Oracle XE "Go To Database Home Page" takes my browser to http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex which is not available even though my oracle server is running and sqlplus can talk to it.
    There's definitely nothing serving on tcp port 8080, as follows:
    [dcampbel@clevo]~> telnet localhost 8080
    Trying 127.0.0.1...
    telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused

    Hello,
    Thank you for your help,
    XE is installed on Linux Server (192.168.19.30) and is started
    XPClient is installed on Windows XP Client (192.168.19.100)
    I can connect to XE using http://192.168.19.30:8080/apex
    The problem is that I can't use ODBC driver
    In other hand, I can connect to the server in SQL command line, using :
    CONNECT SYSTEM/*******@192.168.19.30
    I saw in Oracle documentation that in Windows it's necessarie to use environnement variables to setup XEClient.
    Do you have any idea on how to configure client and ODBC driver ?

  • SAP BW HANA NLS with SAP IQ - ODBC driver / DLL error in configuration

    We have a SAP BW 7.4 system running on HANA and we had configured SAP IQ 16 as NLS on this system for performing a PoC. The configuration was successful and working but after few weeks this was giving error. We tried creating new database connection but with no success.
    When we test the database connection by SE38 -> ADBC_TEST_CONNECTION, we get the below error -
    The screenshot of the trace file showing the detail error is below -
    Refer below the screenshot showing errors from RSDANLCON -
    We have tested the ODBC connection on the IQ database server and there seems no issue there. If anyone has come across this error earlier and have resolution, then please advise.

    We had also configured NLS on our SAP BW 7.31 system (non-HANA) using the same IQ server (v 16), and this configuration was also successful and working but since last 2 weeks or so even that this is giving similar error. We tried creating new database connection and test but there is no success. Sharing the screenshot from SAP BW 7.31 system below -
    SE38 -> ADBC_TEST_CONNECTION shows error as below -
    The screenshot of the trace file showing the detail error is below -
    Here the error is somewhat different and mentions the Sybase IQ 16 version is not supported. But this same connection was working when configured earlier.
    Refer below the screenshot showing errors from RSDANLCON -
    This could also be because of some mismatch in library files but I had checked with our Basis team and there was no upgrade to BW 7.31 system after the NLS was configured successfully earlier (which was just 4 weeks back). So any help for this scenario is also appreciated.

  • Oracle ODBC  - Internal Error - unable to initialize NLS during driver load

    I'm having some trouble with my ODBC connections which I hope someone can please help me with!
    About 6 weeks ago all was working as normal.
    As far as I know there have been no updates to the ORacle DB, the Windows XP operating system or the ODBC Drivers.
    Today when I opened access and visual case 2 to connect to Oracle I was at first greeted with a:
    unable to connect SQLState=IM004 SQL_HANDLE_ENV
    error. ODBC also kept crashing.
    I restarted the computer and was confronted with a different error:
    odbc SQLSTate 08004 ORA 12154 TNS could not resolve the connect identifier specified
    I was able to fix this error by setting the environment variable TNS_ADMIN in windows xp environment variables. I'm extremely confused about how this happened though as it was working and I don't think anything has changed.
    I was then able to connect to the database via Microsoft Access but when I opened Visual Case 2 and tried to make an update, I was confronted with the following error:
    Oracle ODBC Driver - internal error - unable to initialize NLS during driver load
    I looked in the registry at:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle\KEY_OraClient10g_home1
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle\KEY_OraClient10g_home2
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle\KEY_OraDb10g_home1
    and NLS_LANG was set to "AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252" in all 3 places.
    (Though KEY_OraClient10g_home2 only had 4 entries as opposed to KEY_OraClient10g_home1's 13 entries)...
    Since I made those changes I can no longer connect through Access.
    I just receive a ODBC - connection to 'xxx' failed
    Advice greatly appreciated!!!!
    Edited by: user11150264 on Aug 25, 2009 10:21 PM

    Actually it sort of does...
    I switched the ODBC connection to use instant client and now it's all working again.
    The biggest mystery is what changed to make it suddenly stop working the old way...

    The error message "[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified {IM002}" is self explainind - DG4ODBC is not able to find the ODBC DSN you created.
    In your gateway init file you configured the DSN: HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = testmysql
    And according to the Windows ODBC Admin screenshot you created a DSN called testmysql - unfortunately you created it as a USER DSN. But DG4ODBC needs a SYSTEM DSN. The reasin why it needs a system DSN is that by default the Oracle listener is running in the local system account. So when you create an ODBC USER DSN it can be access by the user who created it, but nobody else can use it - also not the local system account which is serving the Oracle listener. So you need to create a system DSN that every user on this machine can use the DSN (including the local system account) .

    we are migrating to Linux Oracle 11g and installed linux psotgres odbc driver and configured oracle 11g dg4odbc gateway.
    We could connect from oracle and retrive the data from postgres.
    Issue we have is

  • ODBC Driver 8.0.4.0.3 or higher

    Where can i found the Oracle ODBC Driver 8.0.4.0.3 or higher?
    Thanks in advance.

    From the "Software" menu selection on the left, choose the ODBC driver from the "Drivers & Utilities" pull-down. Make sure to download the ODBC driver that corresponds to your Oracle client version (i.e. 8.1.5.6 for an Oracle 8.1.5 client, 8.1.6.1 for an Oracle 8.1.6 client).
    Note as well that you must have installed the Oracle client prior to installing the ODBC driver.

  • Re: 32 Bit ODBC Driver for Oracle 11g 11.2.0.1.0

    Hi,
    Were you able to resolve the problem with these troubleshooting measures ?
    Please let me know since i am facing similar issues like yours.
    I am using a Windows 7 64 bit and from QTP installed on this machine ,  i am trying to connect to Oracle database.
    Now initially i installed a 64 bit ODBC for Oracle . But when i did that and ran the Script below :
    Set objDatabase = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
    Set rs=createobject("adodb.recordset")
    objDatabase.open "DRIVER={Oracle in OraClient11g_home1} ; DATA SOURCE=Oracle; SERVER= xyz ; DATABASE=abc1; UID=abc ; PASSWORD= abc123;"
    rs.Open "select * from tablename", objDatabase
    'result1 = objDatabase.Execute("select * from tablename")
    'msgbox result1
    Do while not rs.eof
    print rs.fields("columnname")
    rs.movenext
    Loop
    print rs.fields("columnname")
    it gives me an error
    “[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application”
    So i am assuming that i need to install the 32 bit ODBC drivers for Oracle as well in addition to the already installed 64 bit drivers ..
    Any thoughts on this ?

    64 bit apps need 64 bit Oracle client software.
    32 bit apps need 32 bit Oracle client software.
    You should be able to tell the bit-ness of the app by checking the Process tab in task manager to see if it has *32 next to it.
    You can install both 32 bit and 64 bit Oracle client software on the same box, but you need to do it into different homes, and different oracle_base should also be used.
    There isnt an Oracle client install bundle that installs both, you'll need to do each separately.
    Hope it helps,
    Greg

  • Odbc driver error while connecting with Oracle BI in Linux

    I have Oracle BI Server, Presentation Service and Oracle 11g Client installed in RHEL 5. Oracle BI client is installed in Windows so that I can use Admin tool.
    I have created a repository in Windows for sh schema(by creating ODBC). After that I transferred this repository to the ..server/repository in the linux server.
    I have installed Oracle ODBC Driver from EASYSOFT and added one odbc data source for sh schema in the ../setup/odbc.ini.
    My ODBC setting is as follows.
    [ODBC Data Sources]
    sh=Oracle in OraDb11g_home1
    [sh]
    Driver=/usr/local/easysoft/oracle/libesoracle.so
    Database=//ipaddress_of_ORACLE_SERVER:port/database_service_name
    UID=sh
    PWD=sh
    When I am trying to query through Oracle Answers I am getting the following error.
    Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).
    Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
    State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 16023] The ODBC function has returned an error. The database may not be available, or the network may be down. (HY000)
    SQL Issued: SELECT Customers."Cust First Name" saw_0 FROM SH ORDER BY saw_0
    I have enabled tracing, but I am not getting any clue from trace output.
    Can anybody please help.
    If it is because of wrong driver, can anybody suggest a proper ODBC Driver for Oracle and how to configure it. If the driver is OK and configuration is wrong, can anybody tell me how to create system dsn in linux?
    Thanking you in advance.

    don't use ODBC for Oracle, use OCI
    search on the forum, there's plenty of information about it.

  • MS ODBC or Oracle ODBC driver?

    Can anyone tell me which is the correct driver to use when developing front end MS Access 2003 to retrieve and update data on a Open VMS platform with Oracle 8.1.7.3 database?
    I have serval Access 2000 databases that run on most WinNT or W2K clients with a couple of W2K Dell exceptions. These Access 2000 db's connect to the Oracle database using linked tables and SQL pass-through queries that work with ODBC Manager-DNS system setup using the Microsoft for Oracle ODBC driver.
    Now we are upgrading to Office Pro 2003 so new W2K images have been setup with Oracle 8.1.7 Client. SQL*Plus works on these clients but when I create the System DNS the Access databases return an error "ODBC connection failed". I can however connect with a pass-through query using Oracle's ODBC driver. Not enough time in roll-out plan to change the ODBC connection string in hundreds of Access SPT queries.
    Please help!

  • Where can I find Oracle 8.1.6.1 ODBC Driver

    I am looking for Oracle 8.1.6.1 ODBC Driver. The current downloads at Oracle site do not have the exact version. I would appreciate if anybody could direct me to the link where I can get this driver.
    Thanks

    Is there a reason that you can't use the newer 8.1.6.2 driver? Generally, Oracle doesn't make all the older versions available for download.

  • Oracle 8.1.6 and 8.1.61 ODBC Driver Access Violation

    Using Oracle ODBC for Windows to Oracle 8.1.6 database to get a list of the tables/views in the database.
    The following code worked on 8.0.4, 8.0.5, and 8.1.5 databases and their respective ODBC Drivers. It gives me an access violation with 8.1.6.
    The 8.1.61 ODBC Drivers was able to run the code once, but when I ran it a second time, it gave me an access violation.
    The access violation occurs on the SQLFetch somewhere in the middle of the loop.
    Here is the abbreviated sample code:
    SQLAllocHandle(SQL_HANDLE_STMT, m_hdbc, &hCursor);
    SQLSetStmtAttr (hCursor, SQL_ATTR_CURSOR_TYPE, (SQLPOINTER) SQL_CURSOR_STATIC, 0);
    SQLTables(hCursor, NULL, 0, NULL, 0, NULL, 0, NULL, 0);
    SQLBindCol(hCursor, 1, SQL_C_CHAR, sQualifier, sizeof(sQualifier), &indQualifier);
    SQLBindCol(hCursor, 2, SQL_C_CHAR, sOwner, sizeof(sOwner), &indOwner);
    SQLBindCol(hCursor, 3, SQL_C_CHAR, sTableName, sizeof(sTableName), &indTableName);
    nReturn = SQL_SUCCESS;
    while ((nReturn = SQLFetch(hCursor) ) == SQL_SUCCESS)
    // after a 100 or so iterations, it crashes
    nReturn = SQLFreeHandle(SQL_HANDLE_STMT, hCursor);
    Please let me know if there are other ODBC drivers I could use, or if 8.1.62 will fix this.
