Oracleasmlib oracleasm-support RHEL 7

Hi,
anybody knows whether the RPM for oracleasmlib and oracleasm-support are available for RHEL 7 ?
I've been able to find te above mentioned rpm pnly for RHEL 6 (link: Oracle ASMLib Downloads for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6 )
On the 5th March RedHat has made available kmod-oracleasm for RHEL7.
Therefore we would have liked to begin and install 11G with ASM on RHEL7 but, as stated, I am not able to find there rpms.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the feedback.
We do have a Red Hat subscription, I have no issue at all with the kmod-oracleasm for RHEL 7, I've already installed it.
My doubts were more linked to the remaining rpms since for RHEL6 there was a dedicated link (( http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/linux/asmlib/rhel6-1940776.html) containing both oracleasmlib and oracleasm-support.
I cannot find any RHEL 7 dedicated link for the above mentioned rpms.
The Red Hat official note wew have, as far as the remaining asm rpms are concerned, says:
-to download the oarcleasmlib from the link  http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/linux/asmlib/ol7-2352094.html.
But this seems to have been built for OL7
-to retrieve the oracleasm-support from the public repository (and I've found it at http://public-yum-oracle-com/repo/OracleLinux/OL7/latest/${basearch}" repository.
So my question is:
can anybody confirm we may use the oracleasmlib and oracleasm-support we may find respectively at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/linux/asmlib/ol7-2352094.html.  and in the http://public-yum-oracle-com/repo/OracleLinux/OL7/latest/${basearch} repository for RHEL 7 systems ?
Thanks in advance.

According to http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/linux/asmlib/index-101839.html No ASMLIB driver package needs to be installed when using this kernel. Moreover doing a search on ASM related rpm in ULN, I can only get what's shown here:
    [root@sgelxha198 ~]# yum search oracleasm
    Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit, rhnplugin
    ======================================================== Matched: oracleasm ========================================================
oracleasm-support.x86_64 : The Oracle Automatic Storage Management support programs.
I even uninstalled oracleasm-support-2.1.5-1.el6.x86_64 and reinstalled with earlier version (oracleasmlib-2.0.4-1.el5.x86_64.rpm & oracleasm-support-2.1.3-1.el5.x86_64.rpm), but I still get the same result.
I suspect that the integrated ASMLIB driver doesnt work well.

  • Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center 12c does not support RHEL 5.9 but did oracle have any plan to release patchs to support RHEL 5.9?

    To Forum Users,
    Below is my issue description:
OPS Center 12C is successfully installed & configured on RHEL 5.9 but post installation while trying to configure controller (enterprise & proxy) using http url it redirect to secure port https but doent promts login screen page. Later i found RHEL 5.9 O.S doen't support Ops center 12c.
Did oracle have any bug / patches for this issue ? or any planned release for / against this vulnerabilities ?

       Hello AkankshaSheoranKaler
We have done the following, but we aren't able to resolve this issue. Thank you for your help!
    lf
“This  happen if the software library is not accessible, readable or unmounted (if it is in shared file system).”
On Enterprise Manager server [nsn175-105], we did the following:
    1. we modified /etc/exports to include this line: /export *(rw,no_root_squash,sync)
we start nfs service by executing command “service nfs start”.
On Management Agent server (nsn175-89), we verified that we are able to mount /export directory of EM server.
On Management Agent server, we started firefox browser and were able to run successfully https://nsn175-105.us.oracle.com:4904/empbs/genwallet
After making this change, we ran agent deployment again. We encountered the same error as shown above.
“You can fix the software library or you can download the agent bits in offline mode.”
For fixing the software library, select Setup->Provision and Patching->Offline Patching, then select Offline Patching radio button, download: https://updates.oracle.com/download/em_catalog.zip. Next upload this zip file.
    “Try downloading the bits again”
We are not sure what agent bits are. Would you please explain this and provide procedure how we can download this?
(Here I have attempted to fix the software library, but I am new to Enterprise Manager and not sure how to interpret this).

    Hi
It is more likely that the root cause for your problem is that you did you have issue in oracleasmlib installation
If you are using/installed ASMLib that comes inside of ISO you must update the ASMLib downloading the latest version on OTN Web site.
So, I recommend you uninstall all ASMLib below and install only appropriated ASMLib wich you will use, based on Kernel wich you are booting.
    oracleasm-2.6.18-274.7.1.el5-2.0.5-1.el5
    oracleasmlib-2.0.4-1.el5

    oracleasm-2.6.18-274.12.1.el5debug-2.0.5-1.el5Download:
    oracleasmlib*
    oracleasm-support*
oracleasm-<kernel wich you are using at boot>
You don't need install oracle-asm* from all kernel.
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/linux/downloads/rhel5-084877.html
See in my OS, ASMLib is working:
    $ rpm -qa |grep asm
    oracleasm-2.6.18-194.el5-2.0.5-1.el5
    oracleasmlib-2.0.4-1.el5
    oracleasm-support-2.1.7-1.el5
    $ oracleasm-discover
    Using ASMLib from /opt/oracle/extapi/64/asm/orcl/1/libasm.so
[ASM Library - Generic Linux, version 2.0.4 (KABI_V2)]
    Discovered disk: ORCL:DG_DATA01 [20964762 blocks (10733958144 bytes), maxio 512]
    Discovered disk: ORCL:DG_DATA02 [20964762 blocks (10733958144 bytes), maxio 512]
BUt I saw some notes said if change discovery path to /dev/oracleasm/disks/*, at the end of installation, it will fail?Maybe, will not fail but, you should not be using /dev/oracleasm/disks because then you won't use ASMLIB but access the disks via normal O/S system calls. This forfeits the idea behind asmlib (and thus makes asmlib obsolete on these systems).

  • Oracle Linux 6.1 asm packages - oracleasm and oracleasmlib for OEL 6.1 ???

    Hello everyone
I am not ULN subscriber, I am trying to learn Oracle ASM/RAC at work.
I am running OEL 6.1 (uname -rm output is: 2.6.32-100.34.1.el6uek.x86_64)
I am looking for two ASM support libraries which are compatible with above Oracle Linux 6.1 X64
Specifically this article refers to 2 packages I need for ASM support:
    http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/11g/OracleDB11gR2RACInstallationOnOEL5UsingVirtualBox.php
    •oracleasmlib-2.0.4-1.el5.x86_64.rpm -- I need this one
•oracleasm-support-2.1.3-1.el5.x86_64.rpm -- this package is now already installed on OEL 6.1 so I dont need this one for OEL 6.1
    •oracleasm-2.6.18-164.el5-2.0.5-1.el5.x86_64.rpm -- I need this one
Can anyone direct me to a download link for the above two packages? Even if its from RHEL6.1 as long as it works?
Or does it mean that I must pay Oracle in order to be able to get these packages in order to learn ASM at home ??
Why would Oracle allow us to use their RDBMS/RAC/ASM/Linux software at home learning for free and not supply the above two packages??
    thanks

    user6029797 wrote:
•oracleasmlib-2.0.4-1.el5.x86_64.rpm -- I need this oneThis requires Oracle Linux support, as it is not GPL software and is only available to subscribers.
•oracleasm-2.6.18-164.el5-2.0.5-1.el5.x86_64.rpm -- I need this oneNo, you don't. This is built into the kernel for OL6U1.
Or does it mean that I must pay Oracle in order to be able to get these packages in order to learn ASM at home ??
Why would Oracle allow us to use their RDBMS/RAC/ASM/Linux software at home learning for free and not supply the above two packages??If you want to use ASM for free, install Oracle Linux 5 Update 7 and download the RHEL5 oracleasmlib package from here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/linux/downloads/rhel5-084877.html
Keep in mind that Database is NOT certified on Oracle Linux 6 anyway, so it is challenging to install. The very article you link to uses Oracle Linux 5. It also links to these very same RPMs. If you follow the article more carefully, you won't have any issues.

Are you running this on RHEL4?
If so, this error could be caused by SELinux. If SELinux is enabled, it can prevent the successful load of the ASMLIB driver. This is documented in Bug 4758215.
If you see an error message similar to the following in your /var/log/messages file:
modprobe: FATAL: Error inserting oracleasm: Permission Denied
then it is likely that SELinux is enabled and this is preventing the module from being loaded.
The solution suggested by Oracle is to either disable SELinux or upgrade to RHEL 4 Update 3 as a fix for this bug is incorporated into this release.

I'm running RAC 10.2.0.4 on RHEL 5.3 (2.6.18-53.el5), and looking to update the OS to 5.6 (2.6.18-238.9.1.el5). I'm using ASM for data, and raw for voting and OCR.
    ....# rpm -qa|grep oracl
    ....oracleasmlib-2.0.3-1.el5
    ....oracleasm-2.6.18-53.el5-2.0.4-1.el5
    ....oracleasm-support-2.1.0-1.el5
I have these ready to go:
    ....oracleasm-2.6.18-238.9.1.el5-2.0.5-1.el5.x86_64.rpm
    ....oracleasm-2.6.18-238.9.1.el5debug-2.0.5-1.el5.x86_64.rpm
    ....oracleasm-2.6.18-238.9.1.el5-debuginfo-2.0.5-1.el5.x86_64.rpm
    ....oracleasmlib-2.0.4-1.el5.x86_64.rpm
    ....oracleasm-support-2.1.4-1.el5.x86_64.rpm
    Here's my plan. Please advise:
    a) Stop all oracle procs on node1: DBMS, CRS
    b) yum update (I don't expect it to touch the oracle stuff, as I don't have oracle repos)
    c) yum (or rpm) the packages listed above (do I need to uninstall old asmlib or asm-support?)
    d) 'relink all' for CRS home, ASM home, DBMS home
    e) Stop all oracle on node2.
    f) Start all oracle on node1.
    g) Repeat on node2
    Does this look viable?

    Hi,
your installation looks like a 32-bit O/S (2.6.18-53.el), so upgrading to 5.6. is o.k., but your prepared asmlib won't work.
This: oracleasm-2.6.18-238.9.1.el5-2.0.5-1.el5.x86_64.rpm is 64bit. Please make sure that you get oracleasm-2.6.18-238.9.1.el5-2.0.5-1.el5.i686.rpm.
    Also these
    oracleasmlib-2.0.4-1.el5.x86_64.rpm
    oracleasm-support-2.1.4-1.el5.x86_64.rpm
are 64-bit. So look for the 32-bit ones.
No regarding the upgrade: Oracle supports rolling O/S upgrade, so you can do one node after the other, so if you want less downtime, you can flip e) and f). So start first node first, wait till everything is online, then stop node 1.
But your suggested way will work as well.
Furthermore if looking for less downtime, "move" the services of the RAC database to the second node first, in that case you will have less connections on the first node (less interruptions for users).
    But that is optional....

    Sebastian

  • Strange wildcard listing with yum - problem with oracleasmlib rpm

    Hello,
I installed OEL 5.5 in Virtualbox for the purpose of studying ASM. I figured that ASMLib was not in the public yum repo, downloaded it from OTN and installed the rpm package using the usual rpm -Uvh. Actually at some point yum did show oracleasmlib, but for Xen with a Xen kernel dependency. Anyway, I think yum is acting a bit strange; wildcard listing of the oracle packages does not work like it does for other packages. For instance:
    # yum list oracle*
    Loaded plugins: security
Error: No matching Packages to list
Should this not list all packages starting with oracle?
    # yum list oracle-*
    Loaded plugins: security
    Installed Packages
    oracle-logos.noarch 4.9.17-6 installed
    oracle-validated.x86_64 1.0.0-22.el5 installed
Ok, this works, but is this really all?
    yum list oracleasmlib
    Loaded plugins: security
    Installed Packages
    oracleasmlib.x86_64 2.0.4-1.el5 installed
    Ok, or?
    # yum list ora*
    Loaded plugins: security
Error: No matching Packages to list
Why does it not find anything?
    # yum list mail*
    Loaded plugins: security
    Installed Packages
    mailcap.noarch 2.1.23-1.fc6 installed
    mailx.x86_64 8.1.1-44.2.2 installed
    Available Packages
    mailman.x86_64 3:2.1.9-4.el5 el5_u5_base
    That looks normal to me
    Thanks,
    Markus

Btw, EL5_oracle_addons in the yum repo file are enabled.

I just re-installed the system to check something and I think I found the culprit
The yum list ora* fails right after installing the oracleasmlib rpm package.

  • Error: "FATAL: Module oracleasm not found" in Red Hat 6

    Hi all:
OS.....: Red Hat 6.5 (64 bits)
I am preparing to install an 12c RAC in a Red Hat 6.5. While configuring the ASMLib, i got the following error while executing "/usr/sbin/oracleasm init":
May  2 18:23:20 oraprd01 modprobe: FATAL: Module oracleasm not found.
I configure the Oracle YUM Repository and installed the "kmod-oracleasm" package. And in the link (Oracle ASMLib Downloads for Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6) i got the "oracleasmlib" and "oracleasm-support" packages, as you can see below:
          [root@oraprd01 binarios]# rpm -qa | grep -i oracleasm
          kmod-oracleasm-2.0.8-4.el6_6.x86_64
          oracleasm-support-2.1.8-1.el6.x86_64
          oracleasmlib-2.0.4-1.el6.x86_64
       My kernel is:
          Linux oraprd01 2.6.32-431.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Sun Nov 10 22:19:54 EST 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
       My Red Hat version is:
          [root@oraprd01 binarios]# cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.5 (Santiago)
Why am i getting the above error while trying to init the oracleasm module? What am i doing wrong?
       Thanks in advance.

    Problem solved.
I installed an older version of the kmod-oracleasm (kmod-oracleasm-2.0.6.rh1-3.el6_5.x86_64) downloaded from Red-Hat Customer Portal. Now the ASM module is loaded.

  • Do we need rpm package oracleasmlib for using Oracle ASMLib?

..The Oracle ASMLib kernel driver is now included in the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel.
No driver package needs to be installed when using this kernel.
The oracleasm-support and oracleasmlib packages still need to be installed from ULN+
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/linux/asmlib/index-101839.html
    i use:
    root@oel62 ~]# uname -r
    2.6.32-300.3.1.el6uek.x86_64I understood:
-oracleasm: is include in the kernel(kernel/drivers/block/oracleasm/oracleasm.ko)
-oracleasm-support: can be found on the install ISO or in Oracle Public Yum Server.
-oracleasmlib: ? not found in Oracle Public Yum Server! can be found only in ULN?
Question: Do we need it, rpm package oracleasmlib for install Oracle ASMLib?
I have add kernel module oracleasm (via modprobe) and install rpm oracleasm-support
(but without oracleasmlib) and it works !!??
    ..and I'm confused ???
