Orainst.sh scripts not respond on RAC Node 2

Hi every one,
I am configuring RAC with 2 nodes. during cluster installation the root.sh and orainst.sh runs successfully on Node1.. root.sh scripts also runs fine on Node 2...but when running orainst.sh scripts its starts and hangs on "90 seconds" nothing happens ...
Any one have idea..
Thanks..

Hi Billy, sorry for not mentioning... I have Linux rhel 4.6 and Oracle 10g Clusterware 10.2.....
We have installed many time before but on rhel 4.3..
Had a similar problem due to bug 4679769. As I recall, the configuration/checking of the OCR (and/or Voting) Disks fails when checked by the installer script on subsequent nodes after the 1st node formatted it.
I hacked it originally by removing certain checks from the shell script (not recommended). Later when installing other clusters discovered that module clsfmt.bin was the problem and that patch 4679769 provides a replacement module. The patch is not opatch style - simply a manual copy to replace the existing module with the updated one.
But this was for Linux x86-64 (AMD64/EM64T). You neglected to name the h/w platform. But I suspect the same problem would exist for Intel based platforms.
An alternative (which I am using with current CRS installs) is to install CRS 11g and run 10gr2 RAC on top of it. It is a certified combo and hopefully will result in less work when I need to upgrade the RDBMS to 11.2 when it becomes available.

• Firefox hangs with a "Script not responding" error message; in the meantime there are more and more flashplayer instances running

Recently I receive errors from Firefox at sites that were working fine before, always the same: a script is not responding, and I can wait, debug or stop. Waiting doesn't help (therefore pointless to change the 'dom.max_script_run_time' setting in the config); and also pointless to debug because the problem is not with the script. "Stop" eventually gets firefox to work, until the next error message which comes very soon.
I tried to reinstall both Firefox and Flashplayer, even manually wiped the traces from the user profile and program files. They are the latest 35.0.1 and 16.0.0.305 available now.
=> In the meantime, there are reproducing instances of flash players are spawned and running. They stay running even after firefox is closed or terminated.
=> if I disable the flash player plugin everything's fine except of course flash is not working. If I re-enable it, the problem starts over.

Retard, (I know that sounds hilarious, but I don't know your name - no offense please! )
Like you said, if this happens only primarily on one of the many sites, it generally comes down to the type of code on that site.
And after looking at the URL you posted, seems like that page uses a lot of external references - JS and CSS.
Especially the last few lines:
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://njcdn.worldsecuresystems.com/CatalystScripts/Java_OnlineShopping.js?vs=b1763.r38875 7"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://njcdn.worldsecuresystems.com/CatalystScripts/Java_Cookies.js?vs=b1763.r388757"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://njcdn.worldsecuresystems.com/CatalystScripts/Java_Box.js?vs=b1763.r388757"></script>
Also, a couple CSS, JS references in the <head> section.
'Display External Files' only disables showing external files - but still loads them.
Can you try removing the external references and try working with the webpage in DW for a few minutes to see if the same problem persists? If it does, we know what was causing your issue.
Also, run your site through W3 validator to check and resolve errors: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.healthfirst.com%2Facls-kit.html&charset =%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0
Let us know how it goes.
Good luck.

• Nslookup scan ip not pingable in rac node

All,
I'm planning to install 11.2.0.1 rac on my laptop. As a first step I have configured dns in separate vmware and configured rac1 node as well. Both dns and rac1 public ip addresses are pingable from each others and from host machine. But the rac-scan ip is only pingable from dns server and not pingable from rac1 server.  Will this make any problem if dns server running on 32 bit and rac nodes running on 64 bit server ? Please let me know if I have anything missed here. Thanks again.
About posting on this forum. I have used

to format the code previously. But this time it is not working. Also there is no option to preview the code before posting.
use spaces to separate multiple tags I'm not clear about this. I read https://forums.oracle.com/thread/865295 this article how to post the code. It says to use  \ . If you guide me how to format the code I can use that in future.

• Public Interface not responding after second node is started in the cluster

Hi
Has anyone ever experienced the public interface not responding between nodes in the cluster (ping, ssh, scp) after the second nodeapps is started in the cluster?
This is a new install so all I have installed so far is the base release of CRS 10.2.0. This is on Solaris10. The vipca failed during the installation, however I was able to proceed and manually add the nodeapps using srvctl add nodeaps -n -o -A.
It seems after the second node is started I loose all connectivity to the public interfaces and to my default gateway.
Also I'm getting the following messages sometimes after I try and stop the nodeapps and start them back up.
CRS-1006: No more members to consider
CRS-0215: Could not start resource 'ora.node1.vip'.
Any suggestions on where I should start troubleshooting?
Thanks

Do you have default GW?
It can connects with GW, can't it?
Check metalink
CRS-0215: Could not start resource 'ora..vip' [ID 356535.1]

Best regards,
Vladimir

During a last weekend I have reinstalled both nodes. I rebuild virtual disks (LUNs) under PERC 6i controller. I have chosen RAID0 instead of RAID1 as it was before. Still I'm not sure did RAID0 help me or just a rebuilding disks. MegaCli tool from LSI could not help me and tell what was wrong with disk/partitions that I used with first try. For MegaCli status of controller was without errors.
Probably something was wrong with this partitioning. I used also as in first try Solaris 10 with latest patches 01/2009 and Sun Cluster 3.2 also with latest security patch.
After reinstalling everything is almost fine :-). The only difference with other productive clusters (the patch level of Solaris & SUN Cluster is not as not this test cluster) is that cacao container agent is offline:
offline        Feb_07   svc:/application/management/common-agent-container-1:default
because of that I have following service as disabled:
disabled       Feb_07   svc:/system/cluster/rgm:default
Does anyone knows, how serious is this? And how to enable now svc:/application/management/common-agent-container-1:default?
Here is svcs -xv output:
svc:/application/print/server:default (LP print server)
State: disabled since Sat Feb 07 10:42:05 2009
Reason: Disabled by an administrator.
       See: http://sun.com/msg/SMF-8000-05

svc:/system/cluster/rgm:default (Resource Group Manager Daemon)
State: disabled since Sat Feb 07 10:42:06 2009
Reason: Disabled by an administrator.
       See: http://sun.com/msg/SMF-8000-05
Impact: 1 dependent service is not running:
            svc:/application/management/common-agent-container-1:default
svc:/system/cluster/scsymon-srv:default (Sun Cluster SyMON Server Daemon)
State: offline since Sat Feb 07 10:42:07 2009
Reason: Dependency svc:/application/management/sunmcagent:default is absent.
       See: http://sun.com/msg/SMF-8000-E2
Impact: This service is not running.Regards,

• Why Scripts Stops Responding, Especially In E-Mail

I get quite frequently pop-up "Script not Responding" messages especially when I open my e-mail. I have the option to continue the scrip or stop the script.
I, also have problems downloading add 0ns to fireox. I always get the error code -203
How can I resolve these problems?

1. https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Warning%20Unresponsive%20script
2. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unable_to_install_themes_or_extensions_-_Firefox#Unexpected_installation_error_-203

• I keep getting script not reaponding.

i keep getting message script not responding.
Resource://gre/modules/XPCO M utils.jsm 329 this is one of the scripts
Resource://gre/components/nsBlocklistService,js:741 this is another script.
do you know which add-on has these scripts in it?

That is a built-in script that processes the blocklist.xml file.<br />
Note that you can open such files via the location bar.

Do you have any plugins that show as blocked on the "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins" page and on the about:plugins page?
Try to delete the pluginreg.dat file in the Firefox Profile Folder and maybe addons.sqlite as well to reset the plugin registry databases.
See Re-initializing the plugins database:

• SAP not started on CI node thru Cluster Script

Hi
We have installed the PI 7.1 on HP Unix 11v3 and oracle conbination. We have done the cluster package failover
of CI to DB system and done the complete installation on DB with high availability option. Let on we have splited
the CI to CI and keep the DB to DB note. The installation happend successfully and system started successfully on
both node.
Now we are doing the HP-UNIX cluster configuration and integration. But we have found that the DB services are
starting up successfully on DB node but the CI services are not starting up on CI node. The cluster error file
are attached for your reference. Since the project golive is left just 20 day . Request you to provide solution
on the same. Please also let us know if any further log is required.
Regards
Vimal Pathak

• Every time I open Firefox or open a page in a new tab, I get the error message that a script on this page is not responding or has quit working. This has only happened since I upgraded to 5.0.

Even when I start firefox I have to sit here and wait for it to tell me a script on this page is not responding or has quit working. Once that happens which takes a while, I can say stop script and it moves on. I've always liked using firefox and have never had a problem in the past, however if I can't get this particular problem fixed, and I've tried many ways to do this, I may have to change to another browser. I would hope that you could find out why this is happening to me before I make that decision. One other thing, I am using the dreaded Vista OS.

Try the Firefox SafeMode. <br />
''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.'' <br />
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
# You can open the Firefox 4.0 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
# Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

• Firefox is having "Script" issues (Not Responding) und possibly Flash issues?

Okay, downloaded Firefox for the first time in like a year yesterday. It was working beautifully, oh, how I've missed it. I hate using Google Chrome with a fiery burning passion.
However, though it was working perfectly yesterday, I have not downloaded anything or got any plug-ins/extensions, whatever.
Today, however, I can go to www.google.com (on firefox), but if I try to go to my banks website, or imvu.com, or something like that, all the sudden Firefox decides to hang. It freezes und I get that annoying "(Not Responding)" at the top. I have to close out of the browser entirely, open it up und forgo the session restore.
Some websites are okay, however, it seems many of them aren't.
I get a script error message, so far the one for imvu.com that popped up was "lookout.bluecava" or something like that. Asked if I wanted to wait for script to respond or if I wanted to stop it. Either way, it ends with me closing out und starting back at google.
Right now, to ask this question, I had to re-download google chrome, und log in from that browser since Firefox doesn't even want to support it's own support forum! Crazy stuff, right?
Anyway, since it's having a "script" issue, I went to java, made sure I had the updated java installed on my computer, then I made sure that I had the updated java plug-in. Und I even downloaded the 64bit java for it as well, both the 7u45 or whatever.
So, my java on my comp und firefox browser are seemingly up to date, und the Add-On thing for Firefox to check if plugins are up to date says they all of them are up to date.
Still having the issue. The moment I go to imvu or another site that has that issue, it freezes within 10 seconds und that's all she wrote.
So, I'm really not wanting to go back to Google Chrome for another year, I miss the hell out of Firefox.
To Add: The issue I am having right now with Firefox is the same issue I had a year ago, when I had to uninstall firefox und go with Chrome in the first place.
But, since it was acting normal yesterday when I installed it, I figured that it was fixed. Wrong in less than 24 hours.
Before I submitted this, I decided to hop back onto Firefox und try something.
I disabled the Shockwave Flash und the Shockwave Director plugins. Now, Firefox is working again.
Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
It asks me if I want to install the "flash" plugins needed to view some content on the page (I used imvu.com to try it out after disabling the shockwave), but still runs.
So, what do I need to do for flash? Or better yet, what's going on with it?
I downloaded the flash yesterday within half an hour of starting Firefox up after downloading it. Und it worked just fine for hours.
I shut the comp down, packed it up, went home, come back to work, hop on the net und BAM. All the sudden Shockwave is having issues with Firefox when nothing was done to instigate it? Doesn't make sense.
Other info:
Windows 7 Home Premium on HP laptop.

I will give Firefox 24.1 a try und see if shockwave flash actually works without making it hang und resulting in need of force close.

• Firefox often slow, not responding and showing unresponsive script errors.

In the last few weeks, firefox has often gone unresponsive, usually shown as 'not responding.' This lasts anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes (possibly longer, but by that amount of time I loose patience and 'end task' in task manager.) This is usually followed by an 'unresponsive script' error. Which script it is varies. I've been responding by clicking 'stop script,' which usually fixes the problem temporarily.
The problem seems to occur mostly randomly, but will predictably always occur on site with videos like youtube. Here it is also worse, taking much longer to resolve if it does at all. I've got flashblock active, and sometimes the error will occur before I get a chance to activate the video and sometimes after, but will always occur. Also, on this sort of site, the 'unresponsive script' error will also go unresponsive most of the time, which I've not seen anywhere else, meaning that the only solution, after a while is to end the process in task manager. I've at times attempted to play the same video for half an hour with no success.
As I've therefore spent a fair bit of time in task manager, I've noticed that I end up with many processes running for FlashPlayerPlugin_15_0_0_152.exe*32 (Description: Adobe Flash Player 15.0 r0.) They build up the more I use firefox, but go away when I restart my computer. I've gotten up to at least 50 at one point. Most use 128 or 124 K of memory, but about 1 in 7 uses between 1-5000 K. I don't know if this is linked to the above issues, but I've only noticed it since it started.
I've tried resetting firefox and it changed none of the above.
If it helps, I used Windows 7. Feel free to ask for any more details about my system and I will do my best to answer, though I'm not an expert in computers. Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Thanks for the advice. What solved it was disabling all addons and then restarting the computer. I've since reenabled Adblock (2.6.4) and Flashblock (1.5.17) without causing the problem to reemerge, leaving Troubleshooter (1.1a) as my only previously enabled addon I've not reenabled. I am no longer experiencing the issue.
Regarding updating to version 32, I tried this, but the official site told me I already had the most up to date version of firefox for some reason. Normally, it updates automatically. However, as my issue has been solved I don't consider this a problem.
Thank you very much for your advice.

hi, my firefox and safari are both having difficulty loading certain parts of web pages. previous to this my firefox would freeze and state that a script was not responding. i would stop the script and reload the page and everything would be fine. now though the pages just load very very slowly or load leaving out certain pictures and video content. i've tried clearing my cache's and cookies, resetting my browser etc, but it seems like its a system issue as both safari and firefox are having issues. i've run Avast to screen for malware and it came up empty. any suggestions?

10.4.8's been a pain for Networking... not sure of all the reasons though, or whether all the complaints might not be MS working around Bugs/Non-compliance, but at this point I think you should get Applejack...
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, boot holding down CMD+s, then when the prompt shows, type in...
applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
Fixes a lot of problems, and besides, if your Mac ever gets to the point it won't Boot... this is a life saver!
After you run that... let's see where we are.
BTW, several ISPs seem to have trouble with their DNS Servers lately, might try these insead...

• FF30.0 "not responding" during QUIT process. Maybe script problem...

After several minutes, it becomes "not responding" and then after several more minutes it ceases to be "not responding" but takes several more minutes to display an "unresponsive script" message. I killed the script, then several minutes more before finally quitting.
Any way to make scripts stop running SOONER?
THIS:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/warning-unresponsive-script
talks about making the script run longer & then setting back down to default time; but does not say WHAT the default value is, nor does it say if you can safely REDUCE that value so a script is stopped sooner.
Is there any way to prevent scripts from running in the background for more than a specified amount of time? Its useful to have stuff load and sometimes refresh in the background, but not when they cause FF to slow down.
I am using Session Manager to save the session. Wonder if it causes each tab to reload before allowing it to quit, and this might be a reason for a script to start running again, and maybe get stuck? That seems to be the one and only Add-On that saves stuff and allows you to choose what to reload next time.
Hardware Acceleration is OFF. Mac OSX 10.6.8
Extensions are set to activate when necessary, not automatically.

• Re: Node Manager is not responding

Yes, we have seen this also. But only on NT Nodes. I have not seen this
occur on UNIX or VMS. The only way we have been able to clean it up is by
using Mark Russinovich's HandleEx utility. You cannot even look at it
using Escript/environment console. It just hangs. It usually happens when
available memory(RAM) is very low. I have not been able to find a way to
resolve this problem without killing/restarting the nodemgr itself.

We have the same problem when there are too many users connected to the
environment. When the number of users reaches about 450 to 500, the
environment become very unresponsive. Then it just hangs. We then have to
kill the process and start it again. The way we have resolved this problems
is by keep the number of users connected to the environment to about 400 to
450.
Mark what do you mean by Mark Russinovich's HandleEx utility?

Yes, we have seen this also. But only on NT Nodes. I have not seen this
occur on UNIX or VMS. The only way we have been able to clean it up is by
using Mark Russinovich's HandleEx utility. You cannot even look at it
using Escript/environment console. It just hangs. It usually happens
when
available memory(RAM) is very low. I have not been able to find a way to
resolve this problem without killing/restarting the nodemgr itself.

• I'm getting Constant "Not Responding " and "Script Error"

For a while now I have been getting a "Mozilla Firefox Not Responding " message and Firefox will slow down and keep not working, I'll also get a "Script Error" pop up box that keep reappearing around when the "Not Responding" messages happen. I have tried reinstalling Firefox but it hasn't helped. I don't have any extensions enabled and I have tried going to the site http://kb.mozillazine.org/Unresponsive_Script_Warning but cannot understand what it is suggesting for me to do. I am not very good with computers and need some actual help to get rid of these unresponsive scripts and stop Firefox from not responding. It is happening more and more frequently and is a big problem as I work from my computer.

I am having the same problem, and from what I can understand from the suggested articles, they offer the opposite of what I want.
The "Firefox hangs" and other articles seem to assume that you want the script to respond. I don't.
What I want is for a script to be given a limited amount of time to respond. If it does not respond in that time, it is stopped automatically. No slow down, no pop-up, no manual decision. Just make the script stop before it can suck up so much processing power that nothing else can happen.
My problem is that the sources of the unresponsive scripts are Hotmail and Gmail almost all the time. So I can't just tell the sites that they can't run scripts. But they will have the "script stopped responding" issue even when I am not using them, and I will have to figure out that this has happened because my computer stops functioning, and even then I have to visit each website to figure out which one is causing the problem. And the computer remains slow for several minutes after stopping the script.
As far as I am concerned, there is nothing that Hotmail or Gmail could be doing that requires the full attention of my computer and myself. I would rather have the webpage just close then let the script suck up all my power. So I am not in need of something that will let scripts have more time to work, I need something that will limit the time scripts have to work before they are stopped.
However, the email programs seem to work fine after the script is stopped, so whatever was going on can't be very important.
I have tried the recommended reset of firefox, remove the extensions, script-blocker add-ons. But the problem is specifically these email programs and using them is unavoidable.
So what I am looking for is a way to shut down a script before it becomes a problem.
Thanks for any help.
