OrgModeler 3.0 - Cost Center Name showing as N/A
Hi,
If the user is given SAP_ALL, the cost center name is showing what it's supposed to be.
However, if we remove the SAP_ALL, the cost center name is showing as N/A.
I have already given user authorization for FunctionGroup /NAKISA/HRFUNS, but it still doesn't show.
Cost center ID is shown, just that the description is not.
Anyone experience this before?
I did a trace via ST01, I don't really see any thing suspicious.

Hi Jack,
Your own tests indicate that this is a security issue. However, just to be sure can you check the cds.log file and see if there are any errors? Sometimes authorization errors are displayed there. Also try putting Logging Level to 1 (see the Nakisa Wiki for info to do that). I would also check the downloadSchema to see if the function that extracts cost centre has authority set, although this is based on SAP authorizations so that should be the first place to investigate.

Document change/display - Profit Center / Cost center name
Hi,
We have a requirement where client wants to display the profit center and cost center names (short or long) when displaying or changing a parked or a posted document. As we all know SAP shows only the profit center and cost center code and not the description during the document display. After all the deliberations, this seems to be an important piece of information while posting a parked document or even viewing it as a posted document.
What are our options?
Any help is much appreciated.

Profit center / cost center naming is following a different convention and we are in a roll out phase, therefore we can't think of first item.
About match code, the requirement is not so much during the posting but primarily while releasing the parked document or viewing the parked / posted document - they want to see the description along side profit / cost center.
I was looking for clues on any utilities / enhancements / BTE that I may use to bring extra fields during document display.

Formatted search to get the cost center name
Dear experts, I need to display the cost centre name/description on goods issue via formatted search. i have set the cost centre as " Display distribution rule in a unified column".
Dimension 1
01 Abc
02 xyz
Dimension 2
001 aaa
002 bbb

0002 mno
System shows only the code on goods issuance screen like "01,001,0001 " while i need to display "Abc,aaa,jkl" . Is it possible via formatted search
or any other way?

& apply below FMS to it

Can S_PLO_86000028 Financial Statement report generate Cost-center report?

I've tried with S_PLO_86000028 Financial Statement report and it could generate report based on Profit Center but when I tried with Cost Center, it show no record. Can this report generate cost center wise report?

S_PL0_86000028 is a new FI report for Financial Statement, created by tool Report Painter with tcode FGI1 (Create Drill-down Report).
For adding new columns, I think we can modify the form it used (0SAPBSPL-01)
It's not a good idea to copy it to z-program 'coz I still struggle with it and doesn't work well.

The scenario is we are using invoice document KR and a custom invoice document named LM which ia a copy of document type KR . In the KSB1 report for cost center Name of vendor and Vendor number are appearing for invoice posted through document type KR .But it is not appearing for invoice posted through LM .

The CO line item reports already provide a large number of fields for displaying.Nevertheless, you may need additional, user-defined fields from time to time.
With a customer exit you can add user-defined fields to the CO line item reports.The documentation is included in project "COOMEP01", which is accessible via Transaction SMOD.
You can actually add fields to the actual costs line item reports (for example, KSB1, KOB1, CJI3), the planned costs line item reports (for example, KSBP, KOBP, CJI4) and the commitment line item reports (for example, KSB2, KOB2, CJI5). The budget line item reports that have been developed for Release 4.6 may also be extended (for example, KOB4).
This note contains a more detailed explanation of the procedure as there are still questions concerning this problem. -

Can we load the budget value at the cost center level only with out using cost element . I have seen that we can from actual to budget in Kp98 at the cost Center level.

There is a work around...
You can create one Statistical IO for each cost center and upload your budget in it...
Keep the same nomenclature for IO as the Cost center i.e. If cost center name is 123456, have the same name for IO as well
In Substitution OKC9, you can use a Field to Field Mapping and populate same IO as the Cost center no in the posting or you can also use exit RGGBS000

Now you are aware if you create cost center through KS01 you can put anything for cost center code. Do you don't think some control should be there like GL master creation?

If you are usng BW - better develop the report from there... Else, ABAP is the only solution
Note that there is no correlation between Plant & Cost center except work center... Hence, Plant as an Input parameter in a cost center report is not possible.... Thats why, people prefer to have a cost center nomenclature that reflects the Plant No as well i.e. say 1st 4 chars of a Cost center name can resemble plant

Yes Controlling Area and Cost Centre Code are mandatory. Get a table dump of table CSKS for all cost centre code and enter in the selection screen using multiple selection feature. Do the same for controlling area from table TKA01 and run the report.

You can still make use of BD16. The 2 required fields are Controlling area and Cost center. If you need to send data for all cost centers why not just put in a "*" in the cost center field and save the variant. This should solve your issue. Let me know if not.

Please help me to resolve " No substitute cost center mainta
We are working on SAP 4.6c version.
In my project,HR and FI servers are different.
I am facing a issue which pertains to HR-FI -ALE Integration and that error is " No substitute cost center maintained" this error encountered when i am trying to do posting for payroll.
We do not have a substitute cost center in our project.From HR perspective, cost center is having a relationship with the position and in turn in Info type 0001 personnel number is linked to Cost center and the position.I have checked the validity of position,cost center and employee's start date and end date.I haven't found any discrepancy on the validity periods.
Hence please suggest me ways to overcome this issue.

Please create the a new cost center, then assign to your company code in the table of TKA3G.
Or else go to path:
Payroll-> Payroll Singapore ->Posting to financial accounting->Activities in the AC-System->Set up fixed cost postings and substitute cost centers->Set up substitute cost centers .
For each country text will vary. but fixed substitute cost center name will be appear.
Ask to your FI guys then they will create a new cost center.
For fixed cost center assign cost center to your cost element.(V_TKA30)

Hi Experts,
When I'm taking a report for Cost center accounting under path:
Accounting-Controlling- Cost centers- Information system- Report selection- Cost center accounting -Plan/Actual comparisons- Additional characteristics- Area: Statistical key figures.
Data I key in the selection screen of report is: Controlling area, Fiscal year 2011, From period:2- To period: 2.
When the report was taken in May 2011, the figure against a cost center ACTUAL was 166,000kg.
But, when I take the report now for May 2011, the figure against this same cost center is showing -3416,600kg.
The Plan and actual against all other cost centers appears correct for the report taken in May 2011 and currently for the month of May 2011.
What could be the reson for this? How can I further investigate on this?Should I compare any mpre reports?

The situation is not very clear - would help if you can provide more details.
One possible reason might be the classification by period you are using in the second report - have you checked the InfoCube data?
Do a list cube on the underlying data target (since you use data target's' I am assuming it is a MultiProvider) and put in exactly the same selections as you use in the second query and see if it returns proper data.

Cost Center Structure at a University.

At the university I am working for here is what there Cost Center naming convention appears:
They use all 10 digits and this is how it is broken down---
XXX XX XX XXX
College/Major Unit Department Division User defined.

I don't have a problem with trying to make a cost center name smart but in their Standard Hierarchy they only have ONE cost center group with 5,513 cost centers listed. It's almost like they have created a second level Chart of Accounts within the Cost Center structure because of the last 3 digits are "user defined".
This seems like an inefficient design. can someone shed some light on how other Public Acocunting organizations have set up their Standard Cost Center Hierarchy?
Under Cost Center groups they have created 1,316 groups.
I really think they have tried to take the Cost Center structure to a level that is way too low. They actually have Cost Centers whose lase three characters are abbreviations of the name of the person managing the spending in that cost sencter.

There is no point in going with only one cost center group. It is meaning less.
However, you can suggest to create a structure with second and third one XX XX as two nodes. If not possible at least either second one XX or third one XX should be made as a cost center group. This will not only helps them in proper reporting, but also, the consultant in removing the redundancy of the configuration.

Hi There,
Our Production client has got two controlling areas, and our requirement is, users relating to controlling area 1 should not be able to view the names of the cost centers in possible entries box (search box).
Currently we managed to restrict the users of controlling area 1 from posting transactions to controlling area 2. In addition to this, our requirement is to avoid the controlling area 2 and its associated cost centers from appearing in the search criteria.

You can try by creating a new search help in IMG > Controlling > Cost Center Accounting > Master Data > Cost Centers > Define Search Helps for Cost Centers....
The search help uses exit COM_SE_F4_HELP_EXIT....
In my opinion, if some one is able to view the cost center names, that should not be an issue... The reports and transactions provide you sufficient auth so that one is not able to post/view reports of the other....
