OS X Flash Player + Flex Modules + Embedded Assets cause errors

I'm getting some strange errors when using modules which have
embedded assets, the module will load fine the first time it loads
after compile, but after then everytime I load the module I get
lots of the following errors (once for each embedded asset, images,
fonts etc.):
TypeError: Error #2023: Class
Test__embed__font_EmbedTrebuchet_medium_normal_1428760394$ must
inherit from Sprite to link to the root.

However this only seems to be happening on OS X and seems
related to the flash player, I originally had 9.0.47 installed, but
got the 9.0.28 version of the debug player to try (which gave the
same errors).
I've tried to access the same application from a Windows
machine and vice versa and the errors only occur when viewing the
application from OS X. Also this only seems to happen when I'm
using the debug version of the application, the release version
seems to be okay - but obviously this is making developing the
application difficult when I'm on OS X.
I have tried the latest beta version of Flash Player 9 also,
but as that doesn't have a debug version it doesn't really tell me
if it resolves the issue or not.
I can't find any reference to this error elsewhere.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
-D

I found a suggestion in another debugger problem thread to run a Flash Player installer from within the Flex Builder folder. I found an app named "Flash Player 9 Silent Installer.app" and ran it.  My debugging functionality is back now, but the player version is a lot older.
The only culprit I can think of for this problem is Firefox. I recently upgraded to v 3.5.3 and I remember it popping up a warning about Flash Player needing to be upgraded immediately. I wonder if it overwrote something that caused this?

  • Flash Player Development for Embedded Device

I recently submitted a request for the Flash Player Lite and
Flash Player SDK. The website told me I would soon be contacted by
an associate with instructions on how to download the tools to
build a flash player for my embedded device. Instead Adobe forwards
my request to a 3rd party consultant that wants to charge me NRE to
develop the tools for my target and an expensive license fee for
each unit I want to put the player on. Since when does Adobe charge
a licensing fee for it's player? They are obviously endorsing this
if they have a contract with this company.
Does anyone know a way I can get the tools to build my own
Flash Player that will run on my device. The device is custom made
hardware using an i.MX32 ARM processor and Windows CE 5.0.

    Adamee -
I went through the same cycle you did. I'd like to add that
it's my understanding that there are two components to the costs of
the 3rd party integrator's solution, an NRE, and a per device
license fee. The NRE is significant, but I understand that the 3rd
party needs to be compensated for their effort. I sensed that the
~$10 per device costs were driven by adobe. From a cash flow
standpoint, $10/device might not be that bad for a low volume
design, and if you're moving big volumes the price goes way down.
All around, it's not a bad deal if you have more cash than
    technical resources.
However, I must admit that I'm disappointed that I have not
been able to find another licensing path except through the third
party. I will mostly likely not be able to justify the NRE but have
the skills (I strongly suspect) to perform the port myself. If
anyone knows how to contact adobe about licensing Flash Lite 3,
please let me know (don't call customer service - it's outside
    their scope).
    Thanks -

First, confirm that ActiveX Filtering is configured to allow Flash content:
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968
Internet Explorer 11 introduces a number of changes both to how the browser identifies itself to remote web servers, and to how it processes JavaScript intended to target behaviors specific to Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, this means that content on some sites will be broken until the content provider changes their site to conform to the new development approach required by modern versions of IE.
You can try to work around these issues by using Compatibility View:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11
If that is too inconvenient, using Google Chrome may be a preferable alternative.

  • Flash Player DRM Module Update url  I/O Error 2203

    Hi there
I seem to be consistently obtaining an I/O error when trying to test the DRM module System Update API
As suggested I have removed my ~/Library/Caches/Adobe/Flash Player/NativeCache folder as suggested in this post http://forums.adobe.com/thread/799135
    Flash Player 11.2.202.235 ( Debug )
    Mac OSX 10.7
    FireFox 13.0.1
    Chrome 20.0.1132.57
    Flash Access 2.0
The code is correctly identifying the missing module when the NetStream recieves the Status code of 'DRM.UpdateNeeded'
and attempts to download it using SystemUpdate.update( SystemUpdaterType.DRM ) api method. However I immediately receive the following error:
Error #2203: The requested SystemUpdater action cannot be completed, which is an I/O error for the DRM module?
Can anyone help with what causes this issue, and how i can possibly resolve it?
    Thanks
    Steve

    Hi Steve,
The DRM module for Mac OS X flash player plugin 11.2.202.235 debugger version is available. I could successfully download the module for 11.2.202.235 debugger version 32bit and 64bit on Mac OS X 10.7.
After you got error 2203, did you see any files under NativeCache directory?
Are you using any kind of proxy server, anti virus software, etc?
BTW, I think Google Chrome browser 20.0.1132.57 is using different flash player version.
Can you check used flash player version by using 'chrome://plugins' and openinng http://drmtest2.adobe.com/AccessPlayer/player.html then see flash player verson at upper right corner?
You can disable undesired flash player on chrome://plugins page.
    Thanks,

  • Adobe Flash Player on Windows Embedded

    Hi,
My company produces a software product used for training purposes. In addition to the software we also provide customers with standard desktop PC hardware with Windows installed on it. In order to comply with Windows distribution licensing we provide Windows Embedded rather than a professional edition of Windows (we satisfy the Embedded terms as the PCs are single purpose). As part of this product we'd like customers to be able to install the latest version of Adobe Flash Player on the system to access e-learning content they've paid a third party provider for which is in SWF format.
I note in the Flash Player license the phrase "You will not Use any Adobe Runtime on any non-PC device or with any embedded or device version of any operating system." Given that our PCs are very similar to a standard desktop PC, does this phrase still apply to us? If so, is it possible to obtain an exemption?
    Regards,
    Darrell

    Hi Ani,
I can't see anywhere in the Adobe Flash Player FAQ that you linked that answers my question, can you point it out for me?
I'm not asking for the ability to distribute (I'm happy for the end user to install the latest flash player on the system themselves), and the distribution summary says:
Usage of Adobe Web Players is only permitted for supported platforms; usage rights on non-PC devices or embedded systems are not granted by this license.
which seems to disqualify my particular use case that I am asking about.

  • Vista and Flash Player issues - no embedded video

    Ok,
I've been wrestling with this for a week now. I upgraded from XP to Vista Home Premium 32-bit. After the upgrade, I cannot view embedded videos on any website(except Microsoft's cuz they use Silverlight).
I CAN, however, see videos on YouTube *IF* I change the URL to their Secure site. (HTTPS). I found this workaround in a post. This tells me that Flash Player is working, but somewhere in the Vista install, Vista is blocking non-secure websites from loading/playing embedded videos. I have used Yahoo's news pages as my test, but have had issues with embedded videos on FaceBook, and other websites that regularly post embedded vids, like the TV network sites, etc.  I have gone through as many "fixes" as I could find posts on the Web, and none have fixed my problem. I tried downloading and installing Flash Player on Chrome and Firefox, and those didn't work either, so I know that A.) the problem is not the browser, B.) that the problem is not the codecs, as vids run on Youtube's Secure website. That leaves the OS as the culprit. I have gone through the Control Panel, and tried everwhere there that I could find a remote link to Internet security, to no avail.  No one at Microsoft is interested in helping me; they just tell me to buy Windows 7. Are there any Vista gurus out there that may be able to help?

Could you try running through the steps outlined in this FAQ?  In particular, make sure you delete the two folders specified within the %appdata% directory.
How do I do a clean install of Flash Player?

This warning stopped me and caused me to turn to Adobe for

  • Flash Player 11.1/11.2 causing 32 bit IE to crash

    Hello,
I have an interesting issue.  I have a Flex application which uses the FileReference object to save a file to the users computer.  In testing this no problems were found, it was a very basic piece of code.  However in production some users reported that this functionality was causing IE to crash entirely.
Upon further examination it was found that the issue was limited to users using a 32 bit version of IE and Flash Player 10.1 or 10.2.  In testing the 32 bit version of IE on 10.4 it worked fine.
So question number 1 - Is this a known bug that was fixed in later Flash Player versions?
And question number 2 (tho this may be better asked in a different forum) - Is there an alternative in Flex/Actionscript I could use to FileReference to download a text file to the users computer?

There were bugs fixed against FileReference during that time, however I can't say with 100% certainty that the bug you encountered was one of them.  It does seem likely if it no longer occurs with our current releases.
I'm sort of surprised that installing both 32/64 bit versions makes a difference.  It shouldn't unless we're dealing with some sort of file/registry/folder permission issue that is being corrected somehow during the second install.
You might want to recommend your IT department look into hosting your own background update server for Flash.  More details can be found here:

  • Flash Player 11.7.700.169 install errors 1722 Action NewCustomAction1

    Hi,
Yet again on mass deployment of Flash updates we are seeing problems.  We update all Flash agents via SCCM and SCUP and have recently published the 11.7 update.
A very high proportion of the machines (Windows 7 x64) fail with this in the event viewer:
Product: Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX -- Error 1722.There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action NewCustomAction1, location: C:\Windows\TEMP\InstallAX_11_7_700_169.exe, command: -install -msi
You are then left with no version of Flash as it has already removed 11.6.
Based on previous versions with problems I tried deleting any keys related to Flash from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products and also all of the "Safe Versions" keys.  Even after doing this the problem still exists.
Looking for a solid, remote solution as I've got about 8,000 machines to work on.  The relevant parts of the flashinstalllog are below:

    Hi,
For those regarding iSpring user, we spent a lot of time in debugging that too.
here are the pieces we got and hope it helps.
The audio would got cut off once you tried to unload as2 swf. According to the SwfLoader doc, it would try to cut off all resources if possible (including audio object...). And it seems that their new flash player 11.7 would try to forcefully clear out stuffs that it shouldn't
Our hackaround is to call the netstream.seek() to trigger the sound again. Playing sound object doesn't work
Please adobe!! help us to keep our job here. It would be poor for us by just releasing a player without knowing which part of the backward compatibilities that it is about to break but just post a note on the page to say it may break something old.
    Thanks,
    Venant
