OSB - Accessing Operational Settings within Proxy Service

Does anyone know if it is possible to access Operation Settings from within a Proxy Service?
The use case is instead of logging, we perform auditing by inserting into a database. In certain environments, we would like to turn this off. I would like to reuse the Logs logging level field to decide whether or not to audit.
So the message flow would have if (auditLevel = 'Warning') then BusinessService callout for auditing.
Doing it this way lets operations choose whether or not to audit, instead of making code changes in different environments to choose whether or not to audit.

Few months back I was also working on a similar requirement where client did not want to go for OSB configuration change (and even update) for changing the log levels or start auditing. After researching a little bit, we implemented java callout which used to read a property file and provide the value of auditing flag at runtime. We also created a java utility which used to clear the cache of server (because server loads & caches the property file after each restart). So whenever we have to make a change in auditing flag, we just change the value in property file and clear the cache of the server. This makes the fresh copy of property file available in server cache and OSB java callout picks the same.
It was quite complex but the only better solution we could find. Please let us know if you get something better.

Anuj

  • Osb - bind error handler to proxy service

    Hi!
    I have got a proxy service which polls a POP3 server to download emails and process them.
    My question: How could I bind an error handler to proxy service for noticing when the POP3 server is not available?
    So I would like to put an alert when the OSB looses the connection to email server. I tried to put an error handler to top component on message flow but it doesn't work...
    Could anyone help me?
    Thanks!
    Viktor

    For poller transports (email/File/FTP etc) it is not possible to catch errors of transport layer, in your service error handler. Re: OSB - Error Handler in FTP Transport for TransportException

  • OSB: Text to SOAP in Proxy Service

    Hi All,
    I am trying to transform incoming text from a proxy service to SOAP business service. Is there a simple way to do it ? I am trying to use Replace and that does not seem to work and I have looked into MFL Transform, but that looks kind of complicated.
    Is there a way I can specify the incoming proxy request, $body and transform that to an element of a SOAP message?
    Any help would be great, thanks!

    Hi Patrick,
    Thanks for your reply. Currently I have a proxy service set as text for my request message type, I am trying to create a service that accepts HTTP POST and just receive some text in the body. I want to get the request and transform data in the body and pass that to a business service that receives a SOAP message.
    Can I still use xquery for that, any help on the configuration would be great, thanks!

  • OWSM Policy - how to access subject from within protected service

    I am setting up a new instance of SOA Suite 11g for integration purposes at my organization. I am planning to use predefined WSM policies to protect the services (see http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/b32511/policies.htm).
    Most communication is server-to-server (e.g. HR sending data to CRM), so it would make sense to use something like X.509 (i.e. oracle/wss11_x509_token_with_message_protection_service_policy). However, I have a requirement that the underlying services (BPEL processes, for example), must know the subject (i.e. the server) that sent the message. For example, did this incoming message come from the HR system or the CRM system. This is used internally by the BPEL process for audit logs and other things.
    We also use OAM, so I will likely eventually use the oracle/wss_oam_token_service_policy to verify ObssoCookie values. In those cases, the underlying Java service or BPEL process will need to have access to the username of the authenticated user.
    I've searched and searched the documentation, and I cannot find any instructions about how to access details about the authenticated subject (such as username, roles, or X.509 properties) from within the protected service, whether it be a Java-based service, a BPEL process, or anything else.
    I did find some information about how to read SOAP header values from within Oracle BPEL processes (see http://chintanblog.blogspot.com/2007/12/insertextract-soap-headers-in-bpel-it.html). However, this looks like it will only work if I use the WSS UsernameToken policy (e.g. oracle/wss_username_token_service_policy), since that is the only policy where the actual subject identifier (username) is specified in a SOAP header.
    Do the other policies (X.509, SAML, and OAM) provide a mechanism to convey properties of the authenticated subject to the underlying service? If so, where is this documented? Thanks much!
    Sincerely,
    Nathan Kopp

  • Make jms queue forward messages to a proxy service

    Greetings!
    Here's my task. I have a pretty complex proxy service that routes the message to different web services. This proxy has a conditional branch. Now, what I needed to do was implement a JMS queue and fuse it with my proxy. I have successfully created a proxy and a business service that send messages to the JMS queue. However, the queue doesn't forward the messages to my routing proxy. My guess is that when the queue tries to send the message to my proxy, it encounters a conditional branch and doesn't know which branch to use. I have tried to put a log action in the default branch to determine if the message ends up there, but it doesn't.
    If anyone knows a way to forward messages from a JMS queue to a proxy with a conditional branch, please advise a solution.
    Thanks in advance,
    Andrew

    Hello Andrew,
    To communicate with JMS (either to poll JMS for dequing messages or to connect to JMS to enqueue a message), you have to use JMS transport in Oracle Service Bus.
    I am still not sure if this would have worked had I left the conditional branch in my Message Flow.It will work. You may try configuring it.
    Could you please be more specific as to where I can enable message tracking for my proxy service?You may enable message tracing in "Operational Settings" of a particular proxy/business service. Please refer sections "Configuring Operational Settings for Proxy Services" and "Configuring Operational Settings for Business Services" on below link to know more -
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/consolehelp/monitoring.html#wp1028056
    Should it be enabled for a specific proxy service or for all of them?You may enable it for all or for a particular service. It depends on requirement.

  • OSB Proxy Service routing

    Hi,
    I have a simple Proxy Service which consumes messages from a remote endpoint queue (source queue). The Proxy Service simply routes consumed messages to a Business Service which puts messages into another remote endpoint queue (destination queue).
    When I test passing a message to the Proxy Service using the OSB's Test Console, the Proxy Service routes the message to the Business Service okay where the message is then placed into the remote endpoint queue (destination queue) as expected. But, if I put a message into the remote source queue, I can see that the message gets consumed by the Proxy Service but the message remains as 'pending' and, either the Proxy Service does not route the message to the Business Service or, the Business Service does not put the message into the remote destination queue. What could the problem be?
    Thanks in advance for any help on this.

    Hello,
    Still looking for an answer to this.
    Scenario:
    When enabled, OSB Proxy Service removes any messages placed in remote endpoint URI queue, but it seems the messages do not flow within the Proxy Service's message flow itself. When the Proxy Service is enabled, the messages in the remote queue get removed but are seen to stay in a 'pending' state. When the Proxy Service is disabled, the messages get put back in the queue. What are the possible reasons as to why messages would not get processed within the Proxy Service's message flow? All the message flow does is, route the messages to a Business service which then sends the messages to another remote endpoint URI queue.
    PS: When a message is injected into the Proxy Service via the Test Console, the message flows/routes to Business Service okay without problems so I assume that the problem must lie in the inital remote queue/Proxy Service interface somewhere. Maybe permissions or transaction related issue? But I can't see any hints to anything wrong in configurations or server(s) logs...
    Thanks in advance for any help on this.

  • What is the endpoint URI of a proxy service?

    Hello, I want to create a SOAP client that will access an ALSB-hosted proxy service, but I don't know the URL needed to get to the web service.
    Within ALSB's console, I can easily test the proxy web service but don't know how to access it externally.
    On the Proxy Service's configuration page, in the Transport section, the endpoint URI is given as "/default/DoubleItExternalProxy", but when I try to access the wsdl at that uri via:
    http://localhost:7001/default/DoubleItExternalProxy?wsdl, I get this message:
    Error 500--Internal Server Error
    This service is not associated to a wsdl
    Although I believe the service must be associated to a WSDL--I have it based on a business service that has its own WSDL. Does anyone know what the browser URL needs to be to get to the WSDL? Using JAX-WS, I need the WSDL to generate the JAX-WS/JAXB artifacts for my SOAP client.
    Thanks,
    Glen

    Hi Glen
    You will need to associate your proxy service with a WSDL when you create it (Unfortunetly it can't be changed from Any SOAP to WSDL afterwards).
    The proxy does not use the wsdl from the any business services it calls in case there are multiple.

  • Proxy Service giving "Cannot Compute Effective WSDL for: Proxy Service"

    Hi,
    After updating the wsdl and schema, our proxy service is complaining with error : "Cannot Compute Effective WSDL for: Proxy Service " <ProxyService_Location_Name> when I launch a test console or access the Proxy Endpoint on IE.
    Proxy and Business Services are pointing to the same WSDL. From Business Service, I am able to launch the test console. . Before updating the wsdl and schema, it was working fine. We tried to check in JDeveloper to see whether there are any issues with WSDL or Schema, but they are working fine.
    Security Settings on Proxy Service are : Basic Authentication, User-Name Token Policy and also applied Transport Access Control. Security worked fine earlier before update.

    There must be definitely some issue in the Policy Configuration, due to which it is not able to Compute Effective WSDL.
    Can you please do the following and capture the logs:
    - set the transports debug flag to true in the alsbdebug.xml in your domain directory :
    <java:alsb-transports-debug>true</java:alsb-transports-debug>
    <java:alsb-service-security-manager-debug>true</java:alsb-service-security-manager-debug>
    <java:alsb-service-validation-debug>true</java:alsb-service-validation-debug>
    <java:alsb-wspolicy-repository-debug>true</java:alsb-wspolicy-repository-debug>
    - set the WLS log level to debug
    - Then restart the servers
    This should give some additional details on the specific error.
    It is considered good etiquette to reward answerers with points (as "helpful" - 5 pts - or "correct" - 10pts).

  • OSB & WLST: changing operational settings for a proxy service via WLST

    Hi all,
    we are trying to change the operational settings for a proxy service via WLST.
    In details we would like to change the "Logs" level (Monitoring section).
    We have a lot of deployed services and our 'deployer people' need an automatic way (via WLST for example) for doing that instead of using the OSB console.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    OSB is the Oracle Service Bus. Oracle Service Bus is a configuration-based, policy-driven enterprise service bus.
    The OSB is deployed into an Oracle WebLogic Server instance.
    OSB uses also WLST functionality provided by WebLogic Server.

  • OSB: Retrieve list of proxy service/business service operations via OSB API

    Hi,
    I would like to retrieve the list of proxy service/business service operations using OSB API. I was able to retrieve References to all services on given server using examples from documentation (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/javadoc/com/bea/wli/sb/management/configuration/ALSBConfigurationMBean.html). I'm also able to retrieve the Reference to any given service I want.
    My problem is - what do I do next? I've read here[http://www.theserverlabs.com/blog/2012/03/14/alsbosb-customization-using-wlst/] , that one can use ServiceConfigurationMBean.
    But when I execute this code:
              ServiceConfigurationMBean servConfMBean = (ServiceConfigurationMBean) domainService
              .findService(
                        ServiceConfigurationMBean.NAME + "." + sessionName,
                        ServiceConfigurationMBean.TYPE,null);
    The servConfMBean object is null.
    I know that there might be some useful info in the statistics, but my proxys are enabled for monitoring, and therefore I'm unable to obtain statistics programatically.
    I've also learned that thereis a TransportManagerHelper.getWsdlDescription(ref) method. But it throws null pointer exception. I dont understand how to use it.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Please suggest where I am going wrong in this. I have cross checked the user/pass credentials with what I am giving in the input, and it is perfectly fine.

    I have added the Username and Password as follows, since the namespace declaration was required due to the namespace prefix 'N1' in the XPath
    declare namespace N1="http://abcd.com/common/bodcomponents/transactional/model/1.0/";./AuthHeader/N1:Username/text()
    declare namespace N1="http://abcdp.com/common/bodcomponents/transactional/model/1.0/";./AuthHeader/N1:Password/text()
    I have removed the Message Access Control conditions, have only kept Transport Access Control conditions.
    If i keep the condition in Transport Access Control as "Allow access to everyone", and test with proper credentials in the Username/Password tags in SOAP Header, then it works fine. However, if I try to give an incorrect password in the SOAP Header, it denies the access. So that means the XPaths given for Username/Password are working fine. The OSB logs show the below message

  • OSB: Proxy Service and Dispatch Policy

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to use OSB (10.3) proxy service with dispatch policy set to WebLogic (10.3) work manager to limit maximum number of threads allocated for request to this proxy service.
    It seems to me that whole dispatch policy setting is ignored in OSB. The situation is like this: I have simple Axis based web service with wait method that just waits for few seconds (based on request parameter). I use this service for testing (hm, so far just for trying to understand) OSB dispatch policy function.
    Using soapUI I created a simple load test which uses 10 threads to call wait(10) - it means "wait for 10 seconds". Time limit for the whole load test is set to 20 seconds. It is clear that the total execution count is 2 x 10 = 20. So far, so good.
    Then I created simple proxy service in OSB that just routes request to business service representing my Axis service with wait method. I set a dispatch policy for the proxy service to WorkManager-2threads (see below) and I expected that running the same load test with endpoint set to OSB would result in significant lower total execution count. I expected that because WebLogic should allocate 2 threads at most for all requests to this proxy service. However, that's not the case as the result is the same as in the first (Axis only) test. Just as there was no dispatch policy settings at all ...
    Where is the problem?
    This is the relevant part of my WebLogic configuration regarding work manager:
    <max-threads-constraint>
    <name>MaxThreadsConstraint-2</name>
    <target>AdminServer</target>
    <count>2</count>
    <connection-pool-name></connection-pool-name>
    </max-threads-constraint>
    <work-manager>
    <name>WorkManager-2threads</name>
    <target>AdminServer</target>
    <max-threads-constraint>MaxThreadsConstraint-2</max-threads-constraint>
    <capacity xsi:nil="true"></capacity>
    <ignore-stuck-threads>false</ignore-stuck-threads>
    </work-manager>

    It's same problem to me. I do pressure test by loadrunner,I deployed two separate proxy service,under same concurrent user,I get same TPS from the two proxy service.but when I add low priority concurrent user,low priority TPS up.
    I set the Route option as you say,but weblogic hanged immediately,and can't be accessed by the console.

  • BEA-382051 No Transction Found on OSB Proxy Service

    Hi,
    I've a mq proxy service and which has properties enabled for 1. Transaction Required 2. Same Transaction Required for Response. Also added Routing Options with QoS to 'Exactly Once' to Publish and Service C/o actions.
    mq proxyQ --> local proxy1 -->localPS11 -->localPS12 -->localPS13
    mq proxyQ --> local proxy2 --> localPS21 -->localPS22 -->localPS23
    All these PS11,12,... have publish and service c/o for various DB operations like readBS, insertBS and updateBS.
    I searched the a few threads in the forum, Anuj also suggested to enable Routing Options with QoS to 'Exactly Once'.
    What I've done is I added and enabled this property to Publish/Service C/o which are calling [insertPS-->insertBS] and [updatePS-->updateBS] only.
    *NOT for [readPS-->readBS] services.*
    Is this causing the error? I mean,, do I need to enable for all Publish and S. c/o actions irrespective of readPS or updatePS?
    I also tried with httpProxy service instead of mqProxyService
    Error: BEA-382051 No Transction Found on the Current Thread
    Your suggestion is highly apprecited.
    Thank you

    Hi Anuj & all,
    I just want to highlight my scenario and understand what happens that case...
    ListenerProxyService(mq-protocol with Transaction Enabled) is a one way(Request Type: XML and Response Type: None) and response is routed to business service which posts the message in REPLY MQ. However, publishing the response is happening on the Listener Proxy Response action of Route within Publish activity.
    My question here is ... Should I enable 'Same Transactin required for the Response' and add routing options with exactly once?
    [OR]
    'Transaction Required' for Request ONLY and no Routing Options required for publish activity?
    How does OSB handles transaction in both the cases?
    Appreciate your help,
    Thank you
