OSB asynchrnous proxyservice (pipeline pairs)

Hi,
can you make a hint or tutorial how to make a asynchronous proxyService (proxyService content based routing to/from asynchronous web service).

Knut Vatsendvik's Blog offer only scenario not tutorial.
Your blog seams to me beating around the bush.
I don't want use JMS. I just want use OSB to content routing so webservice invoke OSB -> OSB route message to another webservice and wait response on same endpoint which invoked asynchronous web service.
I can't believe that OSB can't handle such straightforward scenario and have to use workaround with JMS.
I understand OSB like router so it is IMHO basic functionality.
Please can you find something more simple.

    My Proxy Service is reading a non-xml message from MQ-Queue . The format of the message can be different , which is recognized by a MQMD header : applicationType . Putting application populates this header .
    I want to get the value of this MQMD header , in message flow ,to decide which MFL file needs to be applied . But the problem is that "Transport Headers" Action header gives only option to add new headers , not to retrieve the existing ones . Please help me.

    You can access the MQ transport headers in the assign/replace actions using the relative xpath of the $inbound variable. This is available for any transport.

  • [OSB] Calling a secured proxy from another secured proxy

    Hi,
    I would like to call a secured proxy from another secured proxy. However, the call fails.
    I'm making a call from a Java stand alone Web Service client. The client uses policy "oracle/wss11_message_protection_client_policy".
    The call is made to a proxy secured with a "oracle/wss11_x509_token_with_message_protection_service_policy". The secured proxy routes to a non secured proxy, which does not process WSS Security Header. The non-secured proxy then routes to a non-secured business service. The call is a success.
    Then I add a policy to the second proxy, say "oracle/log_policy". Also I set the value of "Process WS-Security Header" to yes. The call fails.
    I'm getting
    java.lang.NullPointerException
         at oracle.wsm.agent.handler.WSMEngineInvoker.createWsmMessageContextFromInvokerContext(WSMEngineInvoker.java:733)
    in the osb logs.
    I have tried adding an empty WSS Security Header in the Soa headers before calling the second proxy. It didn't change anything.
    Do you have any ideas?
    I have also came up with a super simplified sitution when this error comes up. This happens when I'm calling a pass through proxy (no policy, process WSS security header set to no). Then when this proxy calls a secured proxy with "oracle/log_policy", the call results in this error. Why??

  • Error using conditional branch node in OSB

    Hi,
    We are using Oracle Service Bus in our project. I have created the following steps in the OSB Proxy Service:
    1) Assigning a value in a variable inside a request pipeline.
    2) I am using a Conditional Branch after the pipelined pair. The branching will happen according to the value of that variable, I assigned in the pipelined pair.
    Here we are getting an error in OSB test console:
    The invocation resulted in an error: Unknown error while processing message for service ProxyService MHEducation/CCAuthorization/CCAuthorizationProxyService.

  • Can OSB proxy and business service act as a stub ?

    Hi all,
    would like to enquire whether I can achieve the following. I have a web service consumer. Can the consumer call a OSB proxy service and within the proxy service, I use XQuery and extract the body and perform some transformation. And the proxy service return variables to the consumer? Without calling any business proxy in the process
    Can the proxy service act as a stub? Would I need a dummy business service for it?
    Or my objective cannot be achieved in OSB?

    Assuming the incoming body contains "name: Peter, age: 13". Can the return information contain "name:Peter, age:13, Status: N"Yes, it's possible too, in your Response XQuery Transformation u can add n number of additional fields, and send back to requester.
    You can do both Translations and Transformations.
    Can I also configure the proxy service not to call any business service?Have you made/generated your proxy service from existing Business Service?
    If yes,: then your message flow would have only Route Node ( routing to Business Service).
    1. To do transformations on request add a Pipeline Pair in message flow and inside it add stage for doing XQuery transformations.
    2. Use Reply Action in stage as last Actions and do reply with Success.( The message flow won't go to Route actions after this ).
    IF No : Then either remove the OSB Action which is being used to call Business Service.
    It is considered good etiquette to reward answerers with points (as "helpful" - 5 pts - or "correct" - 10pts).

  • OSB Proxy Service does not want to display on the browser

    Hi guys, can you please help with this one
    I have created a business service that calls a webservice tha is housed inside my weblogic domain. The business service is then called by a proxy service. The business and the proxy service make use of the same wsdl that ensures that they both comform to the structure of the soap envelope.
    When I debug both the business and the proxy service from inside the osb console, I get a positive result. Now the problem arises when I call the proxy service directly from the browser, I get a BEA-380001 error. http://localhost:8001/ProxServiceProj/RicaPS

    The proxy service has a route node that routes to the business service. I did not do anything that will affect the response, so there are no request actions or response actions. I have even tried adding a pipeline pair that has a stage on the response, this stage does nothing though as I do not know what to do with it.
    Based on the information I have gathered from the net, it might be a transport header problem, that is related to the response-pipeline. So does anyone know what the potential problem could be? Is there anything that I was supposed to do?

  • OSB problem posting 5MB body to a business service endpoint

    I have an https endpoint they results in a Broken pipe exception after running for about 10mins if I send a SOAP body greater than 5MB. If I send the same request to this endpoint using SOAPUI (no OSB involvement) it works fine and completes in <1min, it only fails through OSB. Also if the request is less than 5MB it works fine through OSB and again completes in <1min.
    I've tried calling a proxy service (through test console and SOAPUI) and the business service (through test console) and all fail with the same broken pipe exception. Below is the constant state of the thread during this 10min period.

    I've tried content streaming but it made no difference. Maybe I've misunderstood content streaming but I thought you use this when body variable in the pipeline pair of a proxy is too big to manipulate in memory. In my scenario this is not a problem (I can report on the body fine just before I route to the business service) the only issue occurs when I call the business service with a request greater than 5MB.
    I've already adjusted the WLS timeouts/message sizes as follows:
    Max Post Size = -1 (although I think this is only used for POST to WLS rather than the other way around)
    Max Message Size = 50000000
    JTA timeout = 60
    The only stack trace is for the broken pipe:

  • OSB - initiaing with OSB

    Hello all,
    My company decided to migrate all our web services to the new OSB and guess how they chose to get this up and running... It means I will be around bothering you guys for while... =D
    Well, I'm building a prove of concept using a simple receiving, validating and queuing case...
    1- Receive a request
    2- Validate the request against the WSDL
    2.1- Return error if request is not valid
    3- validate the fields
    3.1- Return error if one or many field(s) is/are not valid
    3.2- Do a transformation of the fields in a xml
    4- Insert in a queue.
    So, what I've done so far was
    - I've created a WSDL with three fields, firstName, surname and dateOfBirth
    - I've created a Proxy service
    - created a pipeline pair and inside my pipeline
    - created a stage to validate the request. [validateRequest stage]
    And here is my first question.
    How would be a "best practice" to do this validation??
    So far, I'm using a message processing > validate action and doing something like this:
    Validate ./chec:person in variable person against CheckPersonWSDL ( Element = "person" ).
    and
    Raise Error on validation failure
    Also, inside my validateRequest stage, I've added an error stage raising a error like this:
    Raise Error using error code CheckPerson-001
    with error Message
    Request is not valid. Resubmit it with valid values.
    Then, following my plan...
    -I've added another stage into my pipeline pair to validate the fields received from the request. [validateFields stage]
    Inside validateFields stage, I put a classical if/else cascade, validating each field in an if condition and inside each if block I inserted:
    - a Message processing > assign action to...
    assign fn:concat($body/chec:person/firstName, " is not a valid name.") to variable firstNameValidation
    - a Message processing > assign action to do this:
    assign fn:true() to variable isFirstNameValid.
    So, after my cascade of ifs, I can check the second assigned variable and build a string with the invalid fields.
    And here is my second question.
    How could I use the variable previously defined by the assign actions??
    e.g isFirstNameValid to check if it's true or not.

    Now I have my Proxy Service almost there...
    I'm receiveing my request, validating what I want and sending to an iteration.
    My request contains a list of people with the usual fields, first name, last name, date of birth and gender.
    I want iterate this list, validate the person against a schema and for the valid ones, insert in a JMS Queue, and for the invalid ones, insert in my response to be resubmited.
    So far, I've done something like this...
    Added a stage... Validate People stage.
    inside my Validate People stage, I've inserted a For each action to iterate my list.
    for each person in my list, I validate against my schema and store the boolean result in a variable...
    after I check using an if else action whether my person is valid or not...
    For a valid person, I want to get that block of xml and insert in a JMS queue
    The invalid person, I need to transform that block of xml to another xml and insert into the response.
    now the questions... lots... =D
    JMS queue...
    How should I created it???
    In my Weblogic??
    Define a JNDI name and access it using a Business Service???
    currently, I defined a business service as a message service with request message type xml pointing to my element inside my schema and no response and using JMS as my protocol and pointing to a random endpoint URI.
    I know I'll have to change my endpoint URI to my real JMS queue but I need it first... =D
    After that, I'm using a publish action pointing to my business service and my business service has a insert action.
    My insert action contains the person variable defined as my for each variable of my for each action.
    this leads me to my next question...
    How to get the block of xml and insert into this JMS queue??
    After that, I will have my if statement done... I hope _+

    in case of OSB the variables that we have declared are always global ,because the variables that we are declared either inside the request or response pipelines [or]  inside the pipeline pair  are avilable for entire proxy[means you can use any where in the proxy  even in outer error handler stage also .]
    but yes we can declare local and global variables in OSB in case of Split joins.

  • OSB transactions

    I'm trying to create simple web service-based proxy service that publishes incoming data ($body) into two JMS queues. What I want to achieve is a transactional behaviour of such a service. I want to enqueue incoming message either in both queues or in none of them.
    Proxy service
    - is WSDL based
    - contains Pipeline Pair node
      - in request pipeline there is Stage
        - Stage contains two Publish actions
          - each Publish action uses different business service
            - business services are messaging services using XA connection factory
          - both Publish actions contains Routing Options with QoS set to Exactly Once
    I simulate error using security policy settings on JMS queues. When I forbid access to the first queue only, everything is OK. I receive correct error message (soap fault with Access denied to resource ...) from web service proxy service and the message is not enqueued in the first JMS queue nor in the second one. However, when I forbid access to the second queue only, I still reveice correct error message, but the message is enqueued in the first JMS queue.
    I want proxy service to rollback publish actions in case of any error raised during request. Does anybody know how to do it? Any help would be appreciated.
    I have to say that the documentation could discuss this problem a little bit more. I didn't find any complex information about transactions in OSB. Only a few bits here and there. So I tried many variations of my proxy and business services. I even tried to split my proxy service into more proxy services according to advice found at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/userguide/modelingmessageflow.html
    "To have an HTTP proxy service publish to a JMS queue but have the publish action rollback if there is a exception later on in the request processing, split the proxy service into a front-end HTTP proxy service and a back-end JMS proxy service. The publish action specifies a qualityOfService element of exactly-once and uses an XA connection factory."

    Solution is,
    Step1
    Create a JMSProxy1(XA/Req-Resp)
    RequestQ
    ResponseQ
    Step2
    Create a BS (JMSBS2/ReqOnly) with endpoint URI=ResponseQ (Use correlation ID, and XA connection factory)
    1) Create a Proxy (JMS/XA/REQRESP)
    2) In the error handler
    a) use a publish action configured with BS created in Step2. Use QOS=Best effort so that It doesn't participate in the transaction.
    b) After publish using java call out , mark transaction for roll back or use action raise error.
    httpProxy---->JMSBS1----(RequestQ)----JMSProxy1(XA/Req-Resp)---In Error handler----Publish to JMSBS2-- raise error(rolls back the transactions)
    JMSBS1------<(ResponseQ)---------will receive the message sent by JMSBS2 when there is error in pipeline because we use QOS=BestEffort
    JMSBS1------<(ResponseQ)---------will receive the message from the response of JMSProxy1 if no error is raised in pipeline
    In both cases we have the response back to the http proxy. By this solution we can rollback the actions but will still get the response no matter.
    Only limitation is we should JMS correlation ID for JMSBS1. Read JMS correlation ID from Proxy and use the same Correlation ID in the publish action(JMSBS2) in JMSProxy1.

  • Dynamic Routing in OSB 10gR3

    I am trying to do a POC of our use-case and wanted to use the Dynamic Routing feature of OSB 10gR3 -
    - Create a Proxy which will accept service_id, version, operation and generic input request
    - Proxy should do lookup in the Routing Table (XQuery Resource) and based on the service_id as key will provide the service endpoint as -

    <ctx:operation>{$body/ServiceRequest/OperationName/text()}</ctx:operation>

    - Proxy should also carry out the transformation from generic input request to specific as per the operation.
    - Proxy should then be able to call the other proxy services (as per endpoint in the routing table) and the specified operation.
    Questions -
    Is this possible in OSB 10gR3? What service type (WSDL, AnySOAP, AnyXML, messaging) should the generic proxy be? Any alternative to this approach.
    So far, I have used ALSB/OSB for simple use-cases and this is more complex so I am seeking information and feedback on this use-case and how to move forward with this use-case.

    I started this use-case on baby-steps and I tried use the dynamic routing to call the operation on a proxy services
    Generic Proxy (using dynamic routing) -----> Proxy ---> Business <----WSDL (Target Service)
    Here are the steps in my code -
    (1) Created the Proxy ---> Business <----WSDL (Target Service) and tested using the test console.. all works fine.
    (2) Created Generic proxy (Messaging Type with xml as input) and I am passing the xml as
    <ServiceRequest>
    <ServiceId>TestWS</ServiceId>
    <OperationName>getStatus</OperationName>
    </ServiceRequest>
    (3) Created the pipeline pair and in the request pipeline added the stage and -
    - assign the Routing Table (as XQuery Resource) to the $routingtable varible
    (Routing Table XML looks like - <routing><row><logical>TestWS</logical><physical>/TestSB/TestPS_1</physical></row></routing>)
    - assign the XQuery expression
    <ctx:route>
    <ctx:service isProxy="true"> {$routingtable/row[logical/text()=$body/ServiceRequest/ServiceId]/physical/text()}</ctx:service>
    <ctx:operation>{$body/ServiceRequest/OperationName}</ctx:operation>

  • OSB 11g with  PASS-THROUGH PROXY

    I my designing on latest Fusion Middleware 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.5.0)
    a http soap based osb proxy service wraped around owsm saml2.0- sender- vouches-message-protection service policy
    a http soap based osb business service wrapped around owsm saml2.0- sender- vouches-message-protection client policy
    a standalone client is calling this Passive Intermediary Proxy
    In case of pass-through proxy service,
    I would like to know that is it necessary that the policy contract between client --->proxy should be similar to proxy--->backend
    I think so, because proxy is not atall touching the entire stuff starting from <soap:envelope>.........</soap:envelope>
    So client-sent tokens etc. must match with what back end service requires.
    In general, what am I buying by routing the client call through pass-through proxy service if the back-end webservice requires that entire message must by encrypted. In this case there is nothing open for the proxy to view and make any decisions based on that through its pipeline pairs etc.

  • Passing Variables across stage in OSB

    I am using OSB 11g and I am new to this, for my project I have created a proxy service where in the message flow I have created a conditional branch, within that I have given pipeline->stage->assign. In Assign, I am assinging an expression value to a new variable created for that Assign. I need to use this variable outside the stage and branch for another branch activity. Is it possible to make this variable accessible to activities outside the stage and branch??
    Is there any other better method to create variables which can be used across the message flow...like how we use in BPEL.
    Please guide me to proceed with this...

    Can you let us know your use case? If your message flow starts with a pipeline pair and in that pipeline you declare a var, say myVar and after that pipeline you have a conditional branch then in the each and every branch you may access that variable (myVar). If any of the pipeline in any conditional branch defines it's own myVar then the local myVar will override the global one.
    Can I use the variable outside the pipeline or will the variables be accessible only within stages of pipeline??When you say outside, then what do you mean by that?

    maybe that example helps you a bit more
    in the check to see which branch you need they use /text() in the xpath or use data(), maybe you're doing that one wrong?
    first check if the assign in the pipeline pair works (check in the test sb console)
    after that see if you're using the correct xpath in the branch check ($xpath = 'myvalue')
