OSB Email Transport polling in multi cluster environment

Hi,
I have following scenario: email needs to be read by OSB proxy using the Email transport. The proxy service service will poll the IMAP mail box and processes messages, upon reading a message message is deleted.
The email transport works fine in a cluster environment by using a dedicated managed node for polling, so no duplicate messages will occur.
However, we have two clusters in our environment pointing to one mailbox. In this case, two clusters have no visibility of each other. So, two pollers may poll the same mailbox.
Please, advice if there any configuration on OSB, Weblogic or IMAP can be done to solve this issue.
thanks,
Djail

Dont think it will work in an Active-Active setup. If you have both clusters listening to same email address then both will receive a copy (just like you receive same email on your desktop's email client and also on your mobile's email client) because SMTP servers distribute to clients similar to how a JMS Topic works.
Dont know if there is a setup in IMAP which will allow an email to be sent to only one client (in this case one of the OSB clusters).
If you want to make it work in Active-Active then you will need to do it at functional level, for ex. after receiving an email if you have any unique id then log that in a transaction table, before calling the backend, check if the same email was already processed by the other cluster. Alternatively, check at the backend before processing it.

  • Send HTML email using OSB email transport

    Hi all
The client we are working for has a specific email template (HTML based) in which emails need to be send. I have tried using the HTML tags to frame this email string, but when I open the email in outlook, I can see the tags as it is. Tags like <p> <br> are not recognised as HTML rather taken as normal strings.
Pls help in framing an HTML based email message using OSB. Thanks

    Hi Anuj
Thanks again! You are a life savior. Actually i did check the blog, but the author was modifying http headers in the blog using $outbound variable directly using xpath. So, i just wanted to clarify, if using transport headers for outbound request for email protocol would do the job.
I will check and post back the results. I am currently struggling with OSB and Log4j java callout. I am getting weird logs from OSB server in my interface specific log.

  • OSB File Transport Polling Interval

    HI,
I need to know can i set File Polling Interval in milliseconds in OSB 11g. By default is in Seconds....
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e15867/proxy_services.htm#i1276922
i have found a link which says we can set in milliseconds also but that is in 10g
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/httppollertransport/transports.html#wp1076007
So please let me know how to set polling interval in milliseconds !!
    Abhinav Gupta

    Abhinav,
SLA of just a second is too short when it involves reading a file and calling a web-service as well. Here the size of file and load may also cause delay, even there is possibility that OSB may read half written files. Anyways, file an enhancement request with support and let OSB Product Development review your requirements. If found feasible and valid then you should get this functionality as a patch.
As a workaround, you may consider using a java utility to poll the file and invoke OSB service though it's not an attractive solution and you may face issue of reading half-written/incomplete files. I would consider reviewing the solution design here.

  • Deploy Exchange 2013 Edge Transport Server for multi-site environment

    Hi,
I have a multi-site Exchange 2013 environment. The configurations are as below.
Active Directory Sites and Exchange Servers.
    SiteA - EXMB1 & EXCAS1
    SiteB - EXMB2 & EXCAS2
    SiteC - EXMB3 & EXCAS3
All sites are connected via VPN. (Good speed. No latency issues)
All the three Mailbox Servers are in DAG. Only one mailbox database. All servers running Exchange 2013.
I am planning to deploy Edge Servers in the infrastructure (I am doing it for the first time). Normally, it will be in DMZ.
Now, I can deploy 2 Edge Servers for reliability.
    Question.
    1. Can I deploy 2 Edge Servers and create subscription to all the mailbox server in 3 different site? Or, is it like one edge server can make subscription to only mailbox servers in one Active Directory Site? I am not sure about this and could not find much
    information from TechNet.
One Edge Server can make subscription to all 3 mailbox server in 3 sites. Similarly, I can make the subscriptions in the second edge server as well. Configure 2 external MX records with the same priority so that there will be some load balancing.
Also, in such a case if the mailbox database become active from a different site, I need not make any new changes to the Edge Servers right?
    2. If the first way is not correct, I will have to deploy 1 Edge Server each for each of the Active Directory Site. (In DMZ only, not in domain)
Make Edge Subscription to the mailbox server in corresponding site.
Make 1 MX record and point it to the Edge Server which is subscribed to the Mailbox Server from which the Database is Active. The problem is, every time will have to change the DNS record when ever the database copy is activated from a different mailbox
server. And the issues with propagation.. delay..
I am not sure which of the above 2 ways will work. Appreciate suggestions from anyone who have previous experience with similar infrastructure.
    Thanks in advance. :)

    Hi
One or more Edge Transport servers can be subscribed to a single Active Directory site. However, an Edge Transport server can't be subscribed to more than one Active Directory site. If you have more than one Edge Transport server deployed, each server can be
subscribed to a different Active Directory site. Each Edge Transport server requires an individual Edge Subscription.
A subscribed Edge Transport server is associated with a particular Active Directory site. If more than one Mailbox server exists in the site, any of them can replicate data to the subscribed Edge Transport servers.
I don't think there is a solution to subscribe  edge servers for more than 1 site. Edge Servers can be scoped only to one site.

  • OSB Polling in Cluster Environiment

    Hi ,
I created a OSB Poller which will read data from DB. When I test it in a single server it is working fine but when I move it to cluster environment with two managed servers it is polling Twice from the DB and the reports are generating twice . I have changed the JCA Property <Lock>lock-no-wait</Lock> even then it is polling twice. Any solution Please ?

  • Extracting MIME attachment from email using OSB proxy service - email transport

    Hi,
I'm reading email messages(multipart/mixed) with attachments(pdf, zip, xml and csv) from MS Exchange Server 2010 using OSB proxy service email transport.I need to save the attachments to a local folder and process one of the attachments, an XML file. Below is the proxy service config.
    Proxy Service Configuration (Test1/Proxy Services/GetEmail)
    Actions:
    General Configuration
    Service Type   Messaging Service
    Message Type Configuration
    Request Message Type
    Text
    Response Message Type
    None
    Transport Configuration
    Protocol   email
    Endpoint URI   mailfrom:mailserver.net:143
    Get All Headers   No
    Headers
    EMAIL Transport Configuration
    Email Protocol   imap
    Service Account   Test1/Proxy Services/email_acc
    Managed Server   WLS_OSB1
    Polling Interval   30
    Read Limit   2
    Pass By Reference   false
    Pass Attachments By Reference   false
    Post Read Action   move
    IMAP Move Folder   processed
    Attachments   archive
    Download Directory   \\soasup-stor01\Vacancy\test\download
    Archive Directory   \\soasup-stor01\Vacancy\test\archive
    Error Directory   \\soasup-stor01\Vacancy\test\error
    Request Encoding   iso-8859-1
    Message Handling Configuration
    Transaction Required   Disabled
    Same Transaction For Response   Disabled
    Content Streaming   Disabled
The polling is working fine. I've encoded the attachment variable to Base64 using a java callout.$attachments/ctx:attachment/ctx:body/ctx:binary-content has been passed as the byte[] input to the java method and the response is captured in $encodedAttachment. I've created a SaveFile BS(file type) with Request Message Type = Binary and Response Message Type = None. I've tried replacing the node ./ctx:binary-content in body variable with encodedAttachment in the request action of the Publish action to call the BS. One file is getting created with contents of the entire email, MIME headers and boundary parts along with the base64 encoded attachments.
    <Contents from the created file>
    MIME-Version: 1.0
    Content-Type: multipart/related; boundary=MIME_Boundary;
      type="binary/octet-stream"

If I put a delete action in the request to Publish action for SaveFile BS to delete the $attachments, the created file contains only the email body part and the attachment boundary part is missing.
I've uploaded the OSB log with full trace enabled.
How can I pass the  encodedAttachment to the BS for saving the files?
Would iterating through the $aatachment/ctx:attachment give me the individual attachments for saving and processing, as there are separate binary-content refs in them?
Any help to achieve my requirement is highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Manoj,
Thanks for the quick reply to my query.
The thing is, the link you have provided talks more from changing the business Service configurations i.e. the type of the service etc, but the concern is, that the Business Service is already Implemented and hence the change would not be an appropriate option for me.
Please let me know, if any more information is required.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Issue on OSB business service configuration with email transport

    Hi,
I am trying to create a Business Service with email Transport configuration. While creation, I have selected ServiceType as MessagingService. Then in Message Type Configuration page have selected Request Message Type as Text and Response Message Type as None. Now in Transport Configuration page email option is not showing in protocol. It's only showing http , jms option there.
While I tried the same in some other OSB installation environment I am able to find email option in Protocol.
Any  idea what could be potential reason of it.How can I able to see email option in Protocol ?
    Regards,
    Subhra

    Hi,
Please check the state of Email Transport Provider in the admin console it should be in the active state , and also Go to JMS Module --> jms resources and check dist_wlsb.internal.transport.task.queue.email_auto.
its heath and assosiated member will be working fine.

  • File polling in cluster environment

We have a cluster environment with two servers(say, osb_server1 and osb_server2) and a proxy service is configured with file polling using HAfileAdapter.
When executing this service immediately after activation, for first time, the server “osb_server2” throws error as,
    Caused By: BINDING.JCA-11042
    File deletion failed.
    File deletion failed.
File : /**Path**/filename.txt as it does not exist. could not be deleted.
But for consecutive attempts, the osb proxy service is processed by “osb1_server1” and we are not getting the above mentioned error.
In short, We face the issue as below only when executing first time after “Activate” session but the consecutive attempts doesn’t throw error.
Why such error occurs when executing in cluster environment?
    Thanks in advance.

try to use the file protocol provided by osb.And select the polling server as on eof the managed server.

I have a problem at one of my customer sites using the OSB email polling mechanism. We created a proxy service that monitors and downloads mail from an Exchange 2007 mailbox. We moved the mailbox back to 2007 and the server processed the messages normally...
Does anybody know what would cause this error?
Another interesting, but alarming fact is that when this error was generated, no messages where written to the error folder location specified in the proxy service configuration... The messages were successfully "popped" from the server and then simply went missing... Is this maybe a bug?

    Hi Anuj,
I'm using IMAP to connect to the mailbox. Just to give you a bit of background, the mail message contains attachments so will be multipart messages.. I was able to replicate the issue by sending a mail with attachment from my Apple Mail client, so it would seem like this error has something to do with the format of the multipart message...
Basically to error repeats in the domain log:

  • Scheduling,Email Setup in cluster environment and multiple job servers

    Hello All,
I have to schedule and email instances of crystal reports to users in PDF and excel format. A Clustered environment of Business Objects 3.1 SP3 is been setup on 2 servers. There is 2 instances of crystal reports Job server been created.
My question is If there are multiple instances of job servers then should we have to configure mail settings on both instances of job server or not?
And secondly, in cluster environment the email settings and scheduling of the reports should be setup on both CMS servers( CMS server 1 and CMS server 2) or should CMS server 1 should be enough?
    Thanks in advance.

You have a couple of options here.
    1.  You can either set up email on all of the job servers on both CMS' in the cluster.  This is actually the easiest to manage.
    2.  You can set up email on some of the job servers on one or the other CMS.  However, at this point you would also have to set up a server group that contains the job servers that are set up for email, plus the RAS server - you might also have to include the Crystal Cache server and the Crystal Processing server.  Then ALL of the reports that are sent via email would have to be scheduled run ONLY on the server group that contains the email-enabled job server(s).

  • OSB: JMS Transport URL for cluster

    Hi,
I am trying to configure OSB JMS Transport business service. I have 3 JMS servers in my cluster and I am trying to understand how to configure my business service URI. Can I use all three uri's in my business service? If we configure multiple URI's how will they be used? The load balanced algorithm(round robin) we specify is for these uris?
    Thank you
    Matt

maybe this one helps a bit :

  • Multi-cluster CCE environment

Does any one have a multi-cluster (PG/UCM) environment with CVP and CUPS?
In my environment we experience random call delivery failures to agents.
Looking at MTP's, Transcoders and MRGL's and it isn't consistant.
If someone else has this expansive of environment can we start a discussion regarding the challenges and pitfalls. One of our services uses the "Follow the Sun" approach which has agent located all over the world.
    5 UCM(7.1.3)/PG clusters
    1 Central control cluster (7.5.5)
    CVP (7.X)
    CUPS (7.X)
    Thanks in advance
    Troy

    Hello,
This is the environment in which inserts, updates and deletes on objects
in any nodes, included in the environment will be replicated to remaining
nodes which are defined to be part of the replicated environment.
Sinces changes to any node are replicated to all other nodes, they all work
as Master, which gives it the name, Master-2-Master and also advanced replication.

  • Scheduling Task issue in cluster environment

    Hi All,
Can anybody explain,In my current OSB project for exception and retry mechanism we are using java scheduling,it is working fine in single managed server but in cluster environment we got issue i.e we have two managed servers and one Database, java scheduler which polling the records from Queue and inserting into Database. In cluster environment some times same record will insert into the database.how to fix it i.e means if only one record id insert into database table.
    Thanks and Regards
    Mani

    Mani,
I suppose you are doing this in OSB.
Can you be more clear how you are polling the records from the queue? What mechanism you are using? I see you are using DB Adapter for writing to the database.

  • OSB SFTP transport not finding key for hostname, IP

    Hello everyone,
I'm trying to set a proxy service in OSB that connects to a SFTP server to retrieve files.
I am on a single server environment.
    WLS version is 10.3.6
    SOA Suite/OSB version is 11.1.1.6
I've setup the directory for the known_hosts file which contains the public key to access my SFTP :
    $DOMAIN_HOME/config/osb/transports/sftp
I've tried reaching the SFTP server from my server and it works fine :
    sftp -v -oIdentityFile=myKey user@my-sftp-hostname
But when I try this with my proxy service, I get the following error :

What  am I missing here ?
Thank you very much for your help.
    Chris

    Hi,
It's not finding the key... That may be because:
    1. It's not finding the known_hosts file
    2. The hostname/ip don't match in the file
    3. The public key is not in the Open SSH public key format
Have you had a look at this?
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28280_01/dev.1111/e15866/http_poller.htm#i1085323
