  • [Q] Backup Sections, Backup Images, Volume Sets: how to query relationships

    Greetings.
How can I list the following:
Which Backup Sections make up a given Backup Image?
Which Volume Set makes up a given Backup Image?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

You can start with "obtool lsvol -c" and progress with "obtool lssection"
You can find all these described in the OSB Reference Guide.
    Thanks

To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions
Delete the "songs" that do not play in your iTunes library and reimport them.

When it was done, it showed the power cord w/an arrow to iTunes.  ***???  I restarted my computer and tried the whole process again and still...the power cord with an arrow to iTunes.  And I know this means I have to go to Apple and get another phone and will lose anything that wasn't backed up. Anyone else have this happen or have a solution so I don't have to do a restore???

    Reboot your computer.
    Disable your antivirus and firewall.
Connect the phone to a USB port directly on your computer, not to a hub. If your computer is not a laptop and has ports on both front and back use a port on the back.
If iTunes does not recognize the phone when you connect it see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If it STILL doesn't work open a command window and type:
       netsh winsock reset
Then try again. (It seems that a recent Microsoft Windows update may have corrupted network settings; this restores them to the factory default).
BTW, was there an error number associated with the failed update?

    Hi,
According to your description, there is a list appears in “All Files” section but not in "Lists and Libraries" section in SharePoint Designer.
What if you refresh(F5) the SharePoint Designer in the "Lists and Libraries" section? Will the issue list appears?
If the list still doesn’t show up, please clear the cache of the SharePoint Designer and reconnect your site for a test.

  • How do I boost the volume of a track, and a section within the track?

    Thanks for any help.
I'm fairly new to logic and I'm trying to figure out how to boost the volume of a track. I know how to adjust it in the mix, but I have some imported audio files that still aren't loud enough overall. Is there a way to "boost" the volume of the track, so that it adds dB levels to the track overall? Not just turning the level of the track up, but actually boosting the volume of what's in the track? I turn it all the way up to 6.0, and it still isn't loud enough... I'd rather not have to double the track.
Also, is there a way to boost the volume of certain sections of the track, besides using automation?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!!
    Chris

First, welcome to the Apple Discussion Forums!
Try this. Double click on the track and the Sample Editor will come up. Select the section you want to boost and select Functions -> Change Gain. But keep in mind, boosting the signal will also boost the noise.
    Hope this helps.

  • I am running Lion 10.7.2 and I have an external drive hooked to my time machine. I can't rename folders and when trying, I get an error code 8076. The checkbox "ignore permissions for this device" does not show on volume info. Help please???

The TIme Machine volume does not have that checkbox.
I think the issue is with your Finder...
Go to Finder "Go" menu hold the option key and choose Library. Then go to Preferences trash these files:
    com.apple.finder.plist
    com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
Then, restart, or log out and in again.
(You will have to reset a few finder prefs the way you like them.)

  • HT201250 (1) Where is the "Time Machine menu" and the choice to "Enter Time Machine" (mentioned in the "Restoring data from Time Machine backups" section)?

    1) Where do I find the "Time Machine menu" and the choice to "Enter Time Machine" (as mentioned in the "Restoring data from Time Machine backups" section in the Mac Support article "Mac Basics: Time Machine")?
    2) How would I restore e.g. a particular photo from a backup I made with Time Machine? I can see how this is done with Word documents, but can't see how to do it with photos?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
    1. The Time Machine icon is on the menu bar.
    2. If you want to do that with individual photos, it's the same way as for documents. If you want to do it with iPhoto, you have to restore the whole iPhoto library, not only one photo

  • Understanding replica volume and recovery point volume usage with SQL Express Full Backup

I am running some trials to test DPM 2012 R2's suitability for protection a set of SQL Server databases and I am trying to understand what happens when I create a recovery point with Express Full Backup.
The databases use simple recovery model and in the tests I have made so far I have loaded more data into the databases between recovery points since that will be a typical scenario - the databases will grow over time. The database files are set to autogrowth
    by 10%
I have been looking at the change in USED space in the replica volume and in the recovery point volume after new recovery points and have a hard time understanding it.
After the first test where data was loaded into the database and an Express Full Backup recovery point was created, I saw an increase in used space in the replica volume of 85 Gb and 29 GB in the recovery point volume. That is somewhat more than I think
the database grew (I realize that should have monitored that, but did not), but anyway it is not completely far out.
In the next test I did the same thing except I loaded twice as much data into the database.
Here is where it gets odd: This causes zero increased usage in the replica volume and 33 GB increased use in the recovery point volume.
I do not understand why the replica volume use increases with some recovery points and not with others.
Note that I am only discussing increased usage in the volumes - not actual volume growth. The volumes are still their original size.
I have been using 3-4 days on the test and the retention period is set to 12 days, so nothing should be expired yet.

    Hi,
The replica volume usage represents the physical database file(s) size. The database file size on the replica should be equal to the database file size on the protected server.  This is both .mdf and .ldf files.  If when you load data
into the database and you overwrite current tables versus adding new ones, or if there is white space in the database files and the load simply uses that white space, then there will not be any increase in the file size, so there will not be any increase
    in the replica used space.
The recovery point volume will only contain delta changes applied to the database files.  As the changed blocks overwrite the files on the replica during express full backup, VSS (volsnap.sys) driver copies the old blocks about to be overwritten
to the recovery point volume before allowing the change to be applied to the file on the replica.
Hope this helps explain what you are seeing.

  • TS4223 In the iCloud column of my iTunes television section, it lists my shows as "ineligible" and doesn't show them at all on my iPod classic. Please help!

In the iCloud column of my iTunes television section, it lists my shows as "ineligible," and on my iPod Classic, won't show that I have any television shows. Can someone help, please?

    kinmdchaney,
The solution to this thread should also fix your situation.
Here they are layed out for you. Try these in order until your issue is resolved:
    1. Reset the Device:
Hold the power button and the home button down until the device shuts off,  then power it back on and see if the problem is resolved.
    2. Put the device in DFU mode:
    Connect the device to iTunes
Hold both the power button and the home button down simultaneously
After 10 seconds, release the power button but leave the home button pressed
iTunes should then recognize that the device has entered DFU mode and ask to restore.
    3. Put the device into recovery mode:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
Have you already tried these recommendations but to no avail?
    4. Try draining your device and charge it back up for about 10 minutes or more, then try step 2 or 3 again.
I hope this helps you out.
    Sincerely,
    ~Lt. Leviathan

  • Volume and brightness icons dont show up

My computer is a Pavilion g6 notebook. Recently I just realized that I cant see the volume and the brightness icons when I push the volume or the brightness up or down. I checked on the device manager but there is no error. I ran BIOS and windows updates. Nothing changed. I check the graphics card status and everything seems to be correct here. I still got this issue and I dont know how to solve it. I can deal with that but you know it is also important to me to have a fully-working notebook. So please tell me what should I do to solve it ?

  • OSB gives confusing volume information when moving tapes between libraries

    Hi,
We have an SL500 tape library as our main backup device. We also added an SL24 to the OSB domain for testing prior to installation elsewhere. We have an RMAN-FULL-MF media family, which at some point in the past had unexpired media in both libraries.
As part of the process of decommissioning the SL24 prior to shipment, I unloaded the volumes from the SL24 and imported them into the SL500. However, I may not have run the necessary OSB commands, such that OSB has up-to-date information as to where the physical media is located.
Our DBA has tried to delete some old database backups, and this has failed because the backup pieces cannot be found. However, we have a volume in the SL500, RMAN-FULL-MF-000007 which appear to contains the backup pieces (see 'lspiece' output below), but OSB thinks the volume is still in the SL24.
When I do an inventory of the SL500 I get:

This shows the relevant volume. However, when I do an 'lsvol' by media family, I get:

This appears to indicate that OSB still thinks the volume is in the SL24, which has now been removed from the domain.
Does anyone know what I can do to get OSB to recognise that the volume is now in the SL500? Do I need to run the 'obtar' command with the -G option to re-catalogue the tape?
Ultimately I like to see some documentation on how to transfer tapes between libraries in the same domain, and also between domains, with specifc commands to run.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Not quite as straightforward as you suggest, but we have made progress.
The volume has to have a rotation policy before the 'chvol' command will run, which seems logical. So I created a policy for movement of tapes between the SL24 and SL500, and created and ran the media movement job. However, I then tried to remove the rotation policy, but could not because it was associated with the volume just moved.
    I then tried a 'chvol -R "" RMAN-FULL-MF-000007' which returned an error:
"Error: can't relocate volume RMAN-FULL-MF-000007, volume has no rotation policy"
Which was the effect I wanted really - the removal of the association of the volume with the policy. I was then able to remove the rotation policy.
Also, 'lsvol -f RMAN-FULL-MF' still shows this volume listed twice.
The upshot of all this is that OSB now appears to show the volume in the right location and our DBA was able to delete the obsolete backups via RMAN.

  • Oracle Secure Backup Problem: could not find backup section record

    Hi,
I am seeing an error when I try to restore a backup the restore job doesn't seem to be created. The errors I see are something like:
could not find backup section record for vol_vid(VOL000001) vol_oid(126) filenum(125) section(4) - object not found
And this causes the obsheduled (when attempting a restore) to exit giving the error:
Error: can't queue jobs - Connection reset by peer
with the log file (/opt/oracle/backup/admin/log/scheduler/log) showing:

Hi Fernando-- Why are you trying to manually start the apache daemons? It should not be necessary. By default the daemons should start by themself when you install as an adminhost. It appears from the information you sent that you are trying to restart them and they're already running. I would recommend that you stop and start OSB and then do an "https://<OSB admin hostname>" and you should be able to access OSB this way without any other intervention. Please let me know how it goes.
