Osx mavericks 10.9.3 cannot open large folders on smb share

     hi,
This week I bought mij first macbook pro. so I new in osx.
I have a ubuntu 14.04 server running with samba 4.1.6.  From a Windows or linux computer is can acces the shares just fine.
When i try to acces the share from my macbook i can open the share but when I try to open an folder with allot of files/folders the is empty in finder, i thought first it was a performance issue so I've waited for 30 minutes but still empty. smaller Folders ik can open in finder.
i've been googling for days now but i cannot find any solution, forcing smb1 is not working as an example.
in console there his no error on the server the logfile has also no error
does any one knows how to get this problem solved?
Thanks in Advance

According to reports, if the filing protocol is SMB, you can sometimes work around the problem by forcing a CIFS connection instead. To do that, first disconnect from the file server, then select
          Go ▹ Connect to Server
from the Finder menu bar, or press the key combination command-K. Then enter
cifs://server-address
in the dialog that opens, where server-address is the IP address or domain name of the server.

  • I loaded osX Maverick and now i cannot open my folders to view contents

I upgraded to osx mavericks and all my folders will not open. as i double click on them it does nothing. I also open up my email or photoshop or indesign or any other program and if i try to import into the program even my email the program crashes on me. not happy with these two main issues.
    Any suggestions

Starting to type a name and getting a list of matches is good but it's not a substitute for being able to choose twenty or thirty names from your address book and dragging them into the "To" field. Of course many contacts can be put into a group but I may want to send occasional emails to many people who don't fit any group, and there may be no need to create a group just for that email.

Make sure you're logged in to the App Store with the same Apple ID that you used to download and install Mavericks.  If necessary, log out of the App Store and log back in.
If that fails  contact the App Store support personnel via the link circled in this screenshot:

  • Cannot open compressed folders and adobe flash player compatible files

cannot open compressed folders and adobe flash player compatible files

This is a Windows setting. In Windows 7 you can change it through the Control Panel: Either Start>Default Programs  or Start>Control Panel>Programs>Default Programs>Set Associations
Find .pdf and change it (click Change Program) from Microsoft Word to Adobe Reader. Browse to find the Reader application if necessary: Program Files>Adobe>Reader11>Reader>AcroRd.exe

  • Cannot Open Large PDF file 100 mb

Cannot open a 118 Mb pdf file. Adobe Reader 11 opens, no error messages, does not show the file. I downloaded the file from three different sources.
Is there a utility that I can use to check the validity of the pdf file?
    tony-only

Reader is a pretty good tool, but it isn't designed to check validity specifically; then again, nor is anything else.
Can you share the URL of the file?

  • HT2476 I recently upgraded to OS X Mavericks and now I cannot open any of my Microsoft apps. Is Mavericks not compatible with Microsoft Office 2008? If not, how do I revert back to Mountain Lion?

I recently updated my Macbook Pro to OS X Mavericks and now I cannot access any of my Microsoft Office apps. Is Mavericks not compatible with Microsoft Office? If not, how do I revert?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Office 2008 and 2011 are compatible with OS X Mavericks.
If you are using Office 2008, I highly recommend you to reinstall the latest Office 2008 update > http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36897 Note that Office 2008 is not supported by Microsoft anymore

  • Cannot open any folders within thunderbird or send unsent messages after computer (ubuntu) closed suddenly whilst using programme

I use ubuntu. The computer ran out of battery power and closed whilst I was using thunderbird. On restarting thunderbird later, I found that I could not open any folders or send any unsent messages. When I close the programme, I cannot restart it because it says thunderbird is already open, but if I use killall -9 thunderbird I am told there are no thunderbird processes running. I've checked my profile and there is no lock file or parentlock file. Someone suggest deleting the global messages database, but this hasn't helped at all.
If I am slow responding to any questions, please be patient, tonight is my last night with a decentinternet connection - before returning to my rural African home, where we get download speeds of 15kb/s on a good day.
    Thanks,

Do you run some sort of anti-virus software on the Ubuntu computer?
Do you have a backup of your profile folder? If not, now is a good time to create one.

There might be some sort of corruption in connection with your Inbox folder.
Try to rebuild the index file within Thunderbird:
Right click on Inbox in Thunderbird, select Properties, and then press the Rebuild Index button.

  • Why the Finder Search-Function is corrupted in Mavericks so that I cannot open any file after searching it?

Finder Search-Function is troubled / corrupted / misfunctioning
When keying in a search word the files are selected properly, yet not shown with details. Furthermore you cannot click and open any file. Also sorting is not possible.
Anyone else has such a problem and has figured out on how to resolve it?
(Spotlight works properly and is somehow a spare solution).
There seem to be many basic problems with the finder in Mavericks, this problem unfortunately has not been resolved also with the last software-release 10.9.2.
The quality strategy of Apple has to be questioned: I do not need 200 NEW functions, but I need the previous basic functions STILL working!
    Thank you!

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Re-launch Finder by logging out/in and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it  from, overwriting the newer ones.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.
You might need to redo the View settings after an update.
Resolved the Problem! Thanks to Eric and Leonie

Re: Messages Menu Commands Greyed Out
    A simple solution...
After much troubleshooting, I have isolated the issue with the greyed out "Messages" app menu. The problem is due to the truetype font Apple Gothic missing which is required for the AppleID login window when you first launch Messages. You can just hit skip when the dialog box comes up, but until you do so the full messages menus are not available. So to fix, just drop AppleGothic.ttf in <bootdrive>/Library/Fonts and Messages 8.x should launch correctly. Apple should have really included this font in <bootdrive>/System/Library/Fonts since it is required for one of their Apps
Many people in the prepress or graphics arts fields will likely run into this issue when they customize fonts.

    Hi swinbob,
    Welcome to the forums.
Please remove CUDA drivers from their computer. To remove CUDA drivers from the Mac, go to “Mac HD/Library/Frameworks” and delete “CUDA.Framework.”
Also, please check the below link to clear your doubts regarding the same.
