OSX support for Gige Vision cameras?

Is there any support in OS X for the huge line of Gige Vision cameras now available? There are only a few USB and Firewire cameras that work well with OS X. If I could use Gige cameras, it would open up a multitude of options for me, but I can't find any mention of support or SDKs for the Gige Vision protocol in Mountain Lion.

I do not use Gige, so I cannot test this with OS X, but it seems not.
This GEViCAM page http://www.gevicam.com/products/peripherals.html states that a PC is "... required for GEViCAM cameras..."
This GEViCAM page http://www.gevicam.com/downloads/sdk.html states that "... GEViCAM's software is officially supported under Microsoft Windows... Please contact us on SDK for other OS."
I suggest you contact GEViCAM directly http://www.gevicam.com/contactus/gevicam.html and ask them if their product can work with your system.

  • XML file for GigE Vision camera

    Hello,
I am working on a design of GigE Vision camera. It should be very simple linescan camera. I implemented the whole required GigE Vision register set, can communicate with the camera in MAX. The problem is that I need to creata this XML file for the camera. There is this XML file here:
    http://www.emva.org/cms/upload/Standards/GenICam_Downloads/SFNC_Reference_Version_2_0_0_Schema_1_1.x...
What should I do with it? My first version of the camera will have 2 funcions: turn it on and turn it off I am bit confused, because the xml file template has lots of functions, that I don't really need. Should I delete them? Or leave inside with default values? What does minimal configuration XML file need?

Thank you very much! Perhaps I was too concentrated on digging through various documents and missed the important info.
And one more question: how does NI software build the *.icd file? By reading XML file? Or by reading registers in my camera?
Both. The XML is processed by the GenApi software component which then translates it to register operations. The XML file thus controls what features are visible based both on the XML file as well as the camera registers (features in the XML may be conditionally available based on the <pIsImplemented< tag). Next, the IMAQdx ICD file contains the subset of features in the XML file that are available and are tagged as <Streamable>, meaning they can be saved to a settings file.

  • Does labview vision support GigE Vision cameras using H264 compression?

Does labview vision support GigE Vision cameras using H264 compression?
I'd like to use a GigE Vision compliant camera that encodes its video data using H.264 compression. Can Imaqdx read this stream, decode the H264 compressed frames and write the frames into an imaq image?

My camera setting and pixels hieght widht are mono 8 and width and height are 1000. I tried to get the average in simple adding and division but was unsuccesfull in getting the final images can any one check where I can be wrong , attached is my vi.

That's easy.  I don't even need to see your code to tell you what you're doing wrong.  You are probably storing your data as 8-Bit unsigned, taking ten images and adding them together.  The problem is that the largest value U8 can hold is 255, so you run out of space for the numbers to increase.
Grab the U8 image, cast it to a SGL, and convert image to array.  Then add the previous array to the current array in a for loop, and divide by the total images.  You can either display the image as a SGL, or cast it to some other type for saving to disk, since SGL is not supported in any common image file format.
    Hi MoviJohn,
I tried putting imaq cast after imaqdx get image and giving the output of cast image to image to array, but it didnt work, i dont se the images at all.

  • GigE VIsion Camera IP and Port setting in multicast mode (IMAQdx)

GigE VIsion Camera IP and Port setting in multicast mode (IMAQdx)
    Hello, Everybody
I have NI-IMAQdx 3.5.0 , and I have Basler Camera (scA640-74gc) with GigE Vision Interface.
I run that camera in my computer as controller (Multicasting mode) with IP (239.192.0.1)
I detected that camera in another computer (to run it as listener) by LbVIEW .
    my problem is
I run the Pylon Viewer from Basler (Monitor mode) after I detected that camera.
it was run successfully (I look to details of that camera it have same IP 239.192.0.1 and the port changed every time when i stop running in controller computer)
from where i can set fixed Port  in multicasting mode??????
When I use Pylon Viewer in controlled computer and set the mode to multicast
I should set IP and port , then in listener computer I run Pylone Viewer (monitor mode) I saw same IP and same port which i set it in controller
I need a way in LabVIEW to set Port Number in multicasting mode...How I can do that
    Best Regard
    Alzhrani

    Hi Alzhrani,
Unfortunately it is a bit more complicated because you would have to use the GVCP protocol and do a register read of a specific register on the camera that stores the multicast UDP port (that IMAQdx programs from the controller). However, this likely requires access to the GigE Vision specification in order to be able to format the messages correctly.

  • Ni-imaq for 1394 camera support for sony dv cameras

    Hello,
I am wondering if there is any way to capture images from my sony mini dv recorder (DCR-PC101 NTSC) to Labview.  Is it possible through ni-imaq for 1394?
    Thank You.

    Hi charliec,
Support for mini dv cameras is not currently available with the IMAQ 1394 driver.  The only way to access the files captured by the camera are to download them to disk then open them with LabVIEW (or some other programming environment).

  • Windows and OSX support for Proximity

Is there an install for Windows and OSX support for Proximity.
I have upgraded all of my endpoints to TC7.1.2. (SX, C Series, EX) and Proximity is working great however most of my users bring laptops to meetings not iOS devices.
    Any timeframe ?

@dshumake; nice try ;) (thanks for being forgiving with us)
    @ablaisdell; agree!
@fcosgrove; we are currently starting a limited trial for Win and Mac clients (EFT, part of TC 7.3). The main feature for the laptop client is sharing FROM your laptop to the video endpoint, so you can skip the cable, dongles etc in the room.
We do have plans for supporting call control and content receive to the laptop as well, but that's later.
The first PC & Mac version has target for first half 2015, but is subject to change (as in: not yet committed).

  • CS5.1 support for new DSLR cameras (D600)

I would like to understand the business decission (if there is any) why Adobe decided that for new DSLR  cameras support they will update only the Camera Raw version for the current release CS6 and not respecting the legacy for the n-1 release (updating the Camera raw for CS5.1).  This is a serious concern and disapointment.  Does it means that each time Adrobe has a new release , if i chnage the DLSR i am FORCED to upgrade and pay 190$ eventhus I do not need the new release features?

Ah, thanks guys - I am very very happy to eat crow on that one!
The actual point of my post was to make me feel better, and boy did it work!    I did not expect any actual relief, so actually now the post is twice is good as I thought - I was actually wrong!
Anyway, I might mention (I didn't get into all the details) that I actually canceled the order for the d800e (the "e" version was backordered until just recently), as the d600 was just announced as my order was about to process.
So actually I am in the same bad situation as the previous poster, but maybe now I will go back to the d800 - saving a $450 upgrade to CS6 actually saves half the difference in price between the cameras.
And sorry for the rant on the 2 analogies.  It was not a troll.  I vaguely remember in my research that Lightbox comes with ACR, is that true?  Lightbox doesn't come with CS5.5 MC, but I wonder if i were to buy it ($99??) that'll give me the latest ACR that supports the d600, and problem solved.  I assume once i have the latest ACR it'll let me open straight into PS and not make me go through Lightbox and then PS?
Anyway, if that is correct, that would be a much better answer to the original poster (and it saves him $100).  Other good answers (if this Lightbox hack won't work), might be:
"It's an incredible amount of work to support nearly every camera and lens ever made in ACR, so even though it comes free with your software, you don't get free updates once your software moves to a new version."
    or
"The d600 began shipping nearly immediately upon announcement, and it takes a while to update the software."  (perhaps the responder didn't realize it, but this was the situation with the d600.)
But the car-story and "if you can afford a new camera, you can afford to pay adobe" were pretty tragic answers - someone needed to call you on it, or you would have only served to upset the original poster.
Ha, PEBKAC, that is pretty good.  Not very easy to pronounce, though.
I must say my last dozen interactions with adobe have all been negative, except this one, so maybe things are turning a new leaf.  You're lucky I didn't get into the story of when my HD crashed, and I had to call Adobe to re-activate my old CS4 PS.  It's awesome getting literally laughed at by the activation help desk person.  (I had owned the software for 3 years at that point, and had only ever activated it once.)  ...who just assumed I was lying.  "here now let me tell you how to deactivate the old version" "the HD is dead, it ain't going to happen" "well let me show you again, because you need to do that..."
Oops, I did get into that story, didn't I?
    Best,

  • Built-in support for web streaming camera?

    Hi,
I have a Sony MiniDV camcorder that supports web streaming.
Is there any built-in software support for web streaming?
If not, could someone please recommend software that will allow me to setup my camera in my house and view the streamed data over the internet?
    Thanks!!
    BT

You can download Quicktime broadcaster for free to do this. See http://www.apple.com/quicktime/broadcaster/
We've used it to stream a live event from an art gallery and then to a Quicktime Streaming Server (available free in the Darwin version) to broadcast to the world.

  • New RAW support for Fuji X10 camera

I really appreciate all the work that must be done at Adobe in order to keep up with new cameras and their un-ending parade of new RAW file formats. Case in point, the new Fuji X10. RAW support was added for this model in the most recent Lightroom/Photoshop update and I was very glad for that since I acquired a new X10 just a couple of weeks ago. However, I am not able to get a handle on the noise reduction and sharpening aspects of the RAW files from the X10. Is it possible that since Fuji uses a non-typical array on their EXR sensor inside the camera that the usual sharpening and noise reduction controls are not adequate? They produce some very strange and inpleasant results. It's really puzzling since I have been a ACR user for many years with other camera makes and models and have always been able to optimize the RAW files in such a way as to better the camera's JPEG output. Not so with the X10. I should note that all the other adjustable parameters seem to work as would be expected when processing RAW files from the X10. It's just the Noise and Sharpaning parameters which do not seem to work very well. At least not as well as the camera's own internal noise and sharpening processing does. Suggestions? Maybe I'm misssing something, but I think I have tried every combination of adjustment possible from within Lightroom to try and improve the noise and sharpening from X10 files, but with very little success. It actually seems to work better to re-process out of camera JPEGs or "in camera processed" RAW files. At least the results from these files act more like one would expect, but this does give up much of the flexibility of working directly on a RAW file especially in areas such as recovering highlight detail, etc.
Hope someone can provide some answers!
    Tom

Exactly my experience, plus blue/cyan difficult to get right, on 2 (Apple) computers/monitors...OOC jpegs are good, more easily processed, what gives?

  • MAC osx SUPPORT for 6500 classic

i am a new owner for the 6500 classic and wondered why nokia dont list this phone under the mac support?
does any one have any recommendations of software/plugins i can download for mac tiger 10.4 that will sync with ical etc etc but that will work with a wide range of phones? or a generic syncing software. most dont seem to support the 6500 !!

I have downloaded two third party plugins, one from NOVA, only to find out that they don't work with iSync 3.0. Nokia of course told me it would not be a problem to get a plugin!!! Does anyone know where it's available?

  • Divx 6.1 support for Zen Vision

    Greetings all
I bought a Vision M and I am very happy with it, however there is something I'd like to confirm; does the Vision M support Divx 6. I am in the process of enconding my entire anime DVD collection using Divx 6. and I would like to be able to transfer it to the Vision M when I am done, if version 6. is not currently supported will Creative release a firmware patch to make it compatible in the future?
    thanks!

before you draw conclusions, why don't you do some small tests with 20 second videos?
I don't have a ZVM, but I figure that if you use only basic functions of DIVX6., then it will work just as well as divx5.
Of course, if you use the features (file format, subtitles, menus) that were added specifically to divx 6. , that's another story... But I would think there's a good chance you don't (generally speaking).

  • Support for Creative Web Cam

Does Creative have any plan to support my web cam 550, or do i have throw it out?
    Please advise.

You don't need to use the headset. You can just use the regular devices plugged into the sound card of your computer which would include a microphone and speakers. If you have a laptop, a microphone and speakers are usually built in. The headset just tends to be more private and convenient and creates fewer problems when you're a alone.

  • GigE vision on NI cRIO-9068

    Hello:
We are planning a project in which we are intending to use GigE vision cameras and embedded vision processing. Our client is interested in the cRIO-9068 as the embedded platform.
The question is: Is there support for GigE Vision on the cRIO-9068?
I cannot find a document that says so, then I guess no official support is provided. If this is the case, I would like to know why.  I believe that VxWorks targets do not support GigE, but this cRIO runs Linux. From the outside, I think it would be possible to provide GigE support for Linux.  The only devices that seem to support GigE run Phar Lap ETS.
Thanks in advance for your kind reply.

    Using LabVIEW since version 7.0
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello Bruce:
The application will be in a rough environment, in an industrial setting, that is why we want a rugged controller.  We are planning to use the FPGA as a coprocessing unit of the RT processor, so we may have to pass the image to the FPGA and get it back afterwards as you say. The GigE requirement is important, because the cameras will be widespread, and the maximum cable length with other buses is an issue.
    Best regards.
