OSX Utility appears on laptop startup asking 4 ?'s. How do I remove this as it won't let me see my files.
Apple OSX Utility appears on Power On asking me to choose from the following 4 choices: back up, help, repair, install fresh copy of OSX. My problem is that I never did anything to have this Utility pop up, which I'm afraid that all my files will be deleted.
It was working one moment, then it simi froze, which I was still able to go to the Apple icon and shutdown, which I did. Upon powering up, the OSX utility appeared and that's where I'm stuck.
Has this happen to anyone? Please help as I can't afford to loose data, which is not backed up.

From what you say, it looks like your hard drive is damaged. To try to recover your files, you can use DiskWarrior, but note that this program may or may not work.
Another option you have is to replace the hard drive yourself (you can choose one of these HDDs). That page has also how-to's to help you to replace the hard drive. Apart, you can buy an enclosure, where you will put the damaged hard drive so, after installing OS X on your new hard disk, you can connect it to your computer and check if you can recover files

Very simple:
Close FF. Right click on the FF icon, un-pin it. Then start FF from the installer folder (most probably something like c:\program files\firefox\firefox.exe), drag the icon to the desired position on the win7 task/superbar and re-pin it. That's it.

For some reason, when my Macbook Pro starts up now, all of the MS Office applications open. This was not happening when I first purchased the laptop, and I never added these apps to the startup menu. How do I remove these apps from startup?
By default Mac apps do not close when you close the window you were working in. Unlike in Windows when you click the top right X icon in any program is closes the window and the program shuts down. On Mac OS X clicking the X in the top left hand corner only closes that windows and leave the program running in the background. If they are left open and you reboot they will restart with the system and load a window for them.

1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size. -
My buddy list appears, but whenever I try to click on a buddy to chat, IChat won't let me. Nothing appears. It won't let me chat regularly via text, or by video/audio chat. Even when I click on File -> New Chat, still nothing shows up! But, when I look at how many chats I have open, it says I have "X" amount of chats open! But nothing is there.........
If somebody tries to video chat me from my buddy list, I can see the request.... and then the video chat will work. But I cannot request anybody and if they send me a regular text ichat, ichat won't deliver it to me.

This sounds like it is about Window positions.
iChat has Default places for Incoming Invites.
Video is always top Center of your Screen
Audio and Text chats are Upper right with the Audio slightly lower than Text Chats.
Secondary invites are sort of Stacked like when you open multiple files from the same App.
Your outgoing Windows are "Remembered" as to where the last one was when you used it.
This can be an issue if you use your Mac with a second display and turn Off Mirroring.
You windows can get "left" on the other screen.
Go to System Preferences > Displays and turn On Mirroring and the windows should come back to one Screen/display.
If this does not help go to your Home Folder/Library/Preferences and delete (Drag to Trash) com.apple.ichat.plist and restart iChat.
Unfortunately you will need to reset any iChat Preferences you have changed from defaults.

Badunit, thanks for your reply. I just went into Mail/Preferences/Accounts, "full name" field is filled correctly with my name. This happens to only certain recipients, and not every emails. Sometimes my name shows and sometime it doesn't show. And this only started to occur recently.

I cant neither pay with my Master card debit and now with a pin.From where did you buy this "PIN"? And did you get an actual card, or did they just send you a number? If you got only a number, then you may well have been defrauded. You'll need to go back to whoever sold you this "PIN" to resolve the problem. Apple to the best of my knowledge does not authorize any company to provide codes rather than a physical card and hence probably cannot help you if you did not get a physical iTunes card or receive a gift certificate issued by the iTunes Store themselves.

You do not, nor do you need to until you reach the limit of 5. Then you can deauthorize all.

Do you see the problem if you turn off Compatibility Mode for QuickTime?
Right-click on the QuickTimePlayer application (located in C:\Program Files\QuickTime) and choose Properties from the shortcut menu.
In the Properties window, click the Compatibility tab
Deselect all checkboxes currently selected in the Compatibility tab.
Click Apply.
Close the Properties window.

I recently added my entire music library to the "cloud" for an annual fee. Now I can't listen to anything unless I have an internet connection. I want my library back on my laptop, the whole thing (original laptop got erased). How do I do this?

Congratulations on your new laptop! I understand that you have copied your old iTunes Library to your new computer, but you are still not seeing the music. I recommend reviewing Part 5 in the section titled "External drive" in the following article:

OSX Maverick iMac Resolution: stuck at 640x480. How do I fix this?
This is my iMac:
- 21.5 inch
- late 2012
- 2.9 Ghz Intel Core i5
- NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 512MB
- OSX 10.9.2
After updating to Mavericks, the screen resolution somehow got stuck at 640x480 and I'm unable to change it. Going into display settings and holding down the "options" key, does not show ANY display resolution options (see image attached). Any ideas on how to fix this?Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.
