Few more things I noticed today. Maybe that will be a clue.
Situation1:
When the html document is saved on desktop (no site defined) it will preview OK in FF. Although when I try to preview using keyboard shortcut and FF is not running, FF tries to start in a Safe Mode. Triggering preview from the menu or icon on a DW toolbar is fine.
Situation 2:
When HTML document is saved inside a site that doesn't have defined testing server, it will preview OK in FF, but same story with the shortcut - safe mode - if the browser was turned off.
Situation 3:
The moment you specify a testing server, the preview options are not working. I use MAMP Pro, but I was also trying on localhost - no luck.

  • CF Builder closes after Firefox preview

I'm using CF Builder (not 2) on Apache 2.2  with CF9.
My project is set up just fine.  I have Firefox and IE tabs set up in the IDE for previewing.
When I preview a cfm project in my project, the correct behavior for my site is to first require a login page to be rendered in the preview window. After supplying uname/pw, the page I'm intending to preview *should* appear.
This correct behavior happens on the IE preview.  For the Firefox preview, the login page appears but then immediately after the login page is submitted, CF Builder completely closes.  Poof!  No error message or anything...it just shuts down.
Any thoughts about what might be causing this FIrefox-only, only-after-login-is-submitted shutdown?
I've uninstalled/reinstalled CF Builder, cleaned out project settings, and even reinstalled CF9.  Nothing has changed this behavior.
    Help greatly appreciated!

    Hello CFsolar,
Please create a New ColdFusion Project and then uncheck "Use Default Location" and then browse to cf_root\projectname. Select localhost under the servers tab and then hit finish. After creating a New ColdFusionpage, please preview the page in CFB2 window and external browsers.

  • Firefox preview browser keeps asking for flash update?

My html opens fine in EI preview but when I try to open it in
Firefox preview it asks me to update the Flash software. I have
install and uninstall four time and the adobe site says I have the
latest software loaded. Why am I getting this message. I can view
Firefox Flash on other sites but not in Dreamweaver software.
    Please advise....anyone?

Are you running a local testing server or are you just
    previewing the page?
Also, what type of Flash are you trying to run? What version
    did you save it as?
Are we talking about Mac or Windows?
Have you tried to run this in another browser to ensure it is
    just Firefox?

  • Java Applet not loading in Firefox preview

I am playing around with the classic Java applet "intel
rotating 3d photo cube" and for some reason the applet won't load
when I preview with Firefox. It works fine previewing in Safari and
Opera and even works fine when I open the html file directly
through the finder with Firefox. What could it be? Thanks.

I have exactly the same problem.
    (my config is

I'm also using zonealarm as a firewall.

  • Safari/FireFox Preview Problem on iMac

Running the latest Snow Leopard and Dreamweaver CS4 on iMac. Developing a site in PHP after installing XAMPP. Go to preview a page in both Safari and Firefox and all that shows up is the text and question marks where images are suppose to be. The server has to be working if it is processing the page. I check the source code and everything seems to be there but the images aren't showing up and the CSS isn't working at all - just shows text. Have tried putting the files in both the "Sites" and "htdocs" folders and get the same results. I actually developed the pages on a PC and they worked fine there on FireFox and IE. Tried developing a page independent of the site in question and got the same results. Any clues to why the CSS and images aren't working, though the code shows it to be there?
I'm new to Mac, but the XAMPP install and everything seems to be pretty straight forward. Again, I feel pretty good that that XAMPP is working. Is it the browsers, Mac, or Dreamweaver?
Thanks for any help. Don't have files to post since I'm away from the office right now.

I uploaded the files to my web hosting account to test the browsers. Both Safari and FireFox are showing the site correctly. But locally, the css is not working and images aren't showing up. All you see is the text and question marks where photos are suppose to be. When you view the source code everything looks fine. Any clue to what is going on? Is it Dreamweaver? Browsers? Mac? XAMPP?

  • SWF plays in IE & Firefox preview but won't play when published -- please help

Hello, so after trying severally to finally get my flash video to work, i'm stumped with another problem! When i preview it in IE and firefox,it works perfectly with all the lnks working as well. But once i upload to my ftp, there's a white blank space where the video is supposed to be. Please let me know what i'm doing wrong. I'm using Flash CS3 and Dreamweaver CS3. I've uploaded all files (the html page, fla. and swf.) to the ftp but still, it doesn't work. The src file is linked to a file in my root folder. I'm very new to this so any suggestions will be very much appreciated. Below is the code as it shows in my dreamweaver. thanks!

  • Firefox Preview Problem

Regardless of document type, Firefox is showing HTML code in
the browser when I preview a page in DWCS3. Pages preview fine in
IE7. If I download a strict XHTML page from the web, load it into
DWCS3, the first time I try to preview it in Firefox, it shows up
fine. When I save it to my hard drive in an existing Site within
DW, the next time I preview it in Firefox, it shows up as HTML code
in the browser even if I haven't changed anything.
I guessed it had something to do with DOC type, but it's
    really driving me nuts.
    Any ideas?

  • Firefox preview loop of SHTML files

OK, got one I have not ever seen before and cannot find any solutions for. Suddenly, and with no changes to firefox or dreamweaver, when I create a .shtml file and try to preview it in firefox, I get an endless loop of tabs as though it is trying to open the file but just can't. None of the tabs actually open the file. It seems to be restricted only to firefox and shtml files. If I preview a html or htm file in firefox it is fine. If I open a shtml in explorer it is fine. I have also able to view shtml files that are already on the internet fine as well, so seems to be limited to the preview function. I have tried reinstalling firefox and that did nothing. This one has me completely lost. Any ideas would be of huge help. I am trying not to reinstall dreamweaver as I have about 50 sites in there and is a major pain to backup and reinstall it all. Thanks!!

    Hello,
In order to change the default reader for PDF files (to not open PDF files with Firefox's internal PDF reader), follow these steps:
#Go to ''Tools'' > ''Options'' (or ''Firefox'' > ''Options'').
#In the Options window, select the ''Applications'' tab.
#In the ''Search'' field, type ''PDF''. You should find ''Portable Document Format (PDF)''.
#On the right handside you should find an ''Action'' column. Use that to select your favorite PDF reader. In order to view PDF files in Firefox, choose ''Preview in Firefox''.

  • Firefox preview for pdf files doesn't show certain Cyrillic scripts.

Since pdf preview support was added in Firefox I can't find a solution for the missing Cyrillic letters in the preview of the pdfs which the software in my company generates.
Other pdf software/browsers with preview don't have issues with the Cyrillic script regardless of localization and OS as the fonts are embedded in the pdf.
Can you please help with finding some documentation to use as a reference point for finding the solution for this issue?

  • Just Upgraded to Firefox 8.0.1 and now cannot use Firefox preview in Dreamweaver CS5.5...any one else have this issue? I have seen this before in previous version of Firefox but got fixed.

Not able to use firefox browser preview in Dreamweaver CS5.5 after upgrade to version 8.0.1. Now can preview only in Safari.

Don't know if there is an option make the download window stay up, but you can bring it back with Ctrl+J then right-click on the download to open the folder it was downloaded to.

  • Gaps in firefox preview

I am at the beginning of creating a site (nothing live yet, sorry for not being able to link anything). For some reason as soon as I enter any content (text or image) and preview it in Firefox, the layout gets gaps in it. The first screenshot is from Chrome (IE and Safari look the same). The second is from Firefox.
I know its a shot in the dark on what to do here without being able to look at it live, but I am hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction. So that you know exactly what my process has been so far. I exported html and images from PS, then opened the file in DW. From there I wrapped the whole image image in a Div Tag and centered it and added a background image. I then deleted the two images you see where I can enter content now. I then inserted a Div Tag for each with a new CSS rule. The only css I changes I made at that point were to the box size to make it match the image size I deleted, and changing the BG color to match. It previews fine in Firefox until I add content, once I do that I get the gaps. Even with content It looks okay in IE, Chrome and Safari.
Thanks in advance for any ideas on this.

Its funny, everything you said makes perfect sense to me. It was mostly for those reasons that the last time I did a site it was done entirley in Flash. AS is much more intuitive to many of us print types, not to mention that we can simply move things around until we get them where we want them. But then using flash right now brings up a whole new set of problems that I really would like to avoid.
Anyways, here is the code. If someone has the time to look at it that would be great, but if not I will just need to dig into dreamweaver tutorials which I probablly need to do anyways.

  • My site previews fine in live, explorer and firefox, but the fonts are extra large and bold on chrome, this is my first site, please assist. I will be happy to provide screenshots and code or css  sheets.

Working on my first site, Am getting different previews. Chrome tends to make the font big and bold while all other browsers work fine. Here is what the preview looks like in chrome followed by the firefox preview. I have my CSS and HTML code sheets below. Am also having a hard time centering the navigation links, they are a little closer to top of the navigation div than the bottom. Any assistance will be appreciated. Please feel free to point any other errors, am sure there is some in there.

  • PDF preview in firefox version 34.0.5.

we have upgraded FireFox to latest version 34.0.5.
We have now encountered an issue of images not being displayed when option " preview in firefox" is selected from toption->Application->content type : Portable Document Reader : Action Preview in Firefox
If you change the content type action to adobe or any pdf reader then it works .
It was working fine for all previous versions of Firefox

Can you please share the link to the PDF in question?

It happens only when default Firefox "preview in Firefox" is selected. if any other action like "User Adobe reader (in Firefox)" is selected then issue does not come.

  • Firefox - IE - Preview - Mismatch

    I have transferred a Photoshop-design for a website using
    Fireworks.
The Layout appears perfectly in Dreamweaver and both the
preview of Internet Explorer and Firefox using the function in
    Dreamweaver.
As soon as I open the online-link in Firefox the table looks
    deranged.
Internet Explorer makes no problems with the display.
What is the reason for the different appearance in the
    firefox-preview an onlineview?

    Hi,
You have a number of images missing due to the fact that the
    paths to
them are pointing to your hard drive - like so.....
    <img
    src="file:///C|/Dokumente%20und%20Einstellungen/Dirk/Desktop/Homepage/spacer.gif"
    width="25" height="1" border="0" alt="">
Also you are not using a valid (or any for that matter)
    doctype or
character set - try this at the top of your template......
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01
    Transitional//EN"
    http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;
    charset=iso-8859-1">
    <title>Leisenberg - Praxis f&uuml;r
    Zahnheilkunde</title>
the rest of your page here - links to the css file and
    javascripts etc
    etc etc

  • Recently no matter what I do, Firefox will not allow me to use Adobe Reader instead of it's own

I used to be able to display pdf documents using Adobe Reader instead of Firefox's built in. I have tried everything that you suggest and that Adobe suggest. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader (11.0.09). I have gone to the options in Mozilla but when I try to change the Portable Document settings, I don't get the option for "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)". I do get the for Adobe Forms, but not for PDF documents. If I change it to use Adobe Reader, it downloads and then opens reader which is not I want. I want to use the plugin which is installed (I go to Add-ons and it is installed and "always activate").
Help? This only started happening in the last month or so. I am running latest released Firefox (33.0.2), Windows 7 (up to date with all updates, etc.).

That doesn't solve the problem. I have all those defaults. But in Firefox, it won't let me select for "Portable Document Format" to "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)" which it used to let me and which is what the Mozilla Firefox help stuff says to do. I can select Adobe Reader but then it downloads it and opens it in a separate reader window rather than using the plugin. If I select to let Firefox "Preview in Firefox", then the Firefox built-in PDF reader will display it. I have added an add-on "pdfViewerSwitcher" which then lets me display in the Adobe Reader plug-in but only after first displaying it in the Firefox preview. So that verifies that the Adobe Reader plug-in works. But I can't set it to always use the Adobe Reader plug-in.
I have some reasons for wanting to use the Adobe Reader plug-in. I use Nuance Power PDF Pro for editing and doing other things with pdfs.
This all used to work and stopped working at some point in the last couple months. And if you search the web, you will find I am not the only one with this complaint.
I don't know whether it is Adobe's fault or Mozilla's fault but at least one of them is broken. And I think it is Firefox since it won't even let me select it but does let me select it for Adobe Forms.

  • Preview and design mode issues

I would like to report a couple of glitches in Muse.
    Problem #1:
I had a pair of photos that I added some text with in a separate text box.  I had problems with alignment, so I put the photos into a  slideshow with the text:
I hit enter to space everything out properly, and a portion of the text moves above where I want it, and overlaps existing text, and the column shrinks:
If I hit enter again, then delete, the text moves back to where I want it to go.
    Problem #2:
On occasion, when I preview a page I am designing, it looks jumbled with text in places I never put it and opacity is reduced, like it's under layers.  I deleted all text on the page and re-previewed with no difference in how it appeared, text still jumbled and out of place with text I just deleted.  I revert to last saved and luckily that fixes it, but it sets me back a few steps.  I didn't save any screen shots from that fiasco, but I did with the next one that occurred:
in Design mode I added the red links on the left of the Home page like this:
Preview showed a mess with the text I have on the master page like this, no links, and nav tabs placed above everything:
I have sent this to Adobe for a response with my export file and screen shots and haven't heard anything back yet.
    Please advise.
    Thank you,
    Chad

    I have updated Muse to
    Realease version
    V2.2, build 6, CL 770942
    AIR Runtime: 3.4.0.2540
I made some changes to the "Animal Facts" page,
Saved it, Exported it, then uploaded it to my server.
What is shown in "Plan mode" is consistent with what I have designed, but I can't get it
    to publish that way:
Now the changes that I made aren't showing up in the Firefox preview when exported, the Firefox view once published, or the preview within Muse.
Further the screen that shows up I can't find on the "Design mode" to change or delete it:
