  • Can't get Palm Desktop app to react after syncing with Yahoo mail calendar info

    Attempted to move calendar from Yahoo mail page to Palm Desktop in my Macbook--
    Yahoo page says "don't use Intellisync" --thre is a new program called Autosync--but it turns out it doesn't work for Macs --clearly, many instructions on Yahoo paged do not apply to Macs--
    find this is a common problem on many sites--assumption that all are PC folks.
    Imagine how things will go if Microsoft actually buys Yahoo!
    Anyway--Created Calendar as a CV file and imported to Palm Desktop--
    now cannot get program to run correctly--it appears all of the calendar info was imported to calendar day on which I imported it--so there is a huge amount of info being processed whenever I attempt to interact with the app.--the dreaded beachball appears and spins endlessly--
    Have re-installed Palm app. (4.2.1) but problem seems to be imbedded, and re-occurs.
    Is there any solution except to dump the entire app. from my hard drive, lose my archive et. al.
    and re-synch from my Tungsten E2???
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

    Did away with it in 10.8. Sync via application Notes now.

  • No e-mail via Microsoft Outlook

    Can't sync e-mail via my new computer. Opted for Microsoft Outlook for my AT&T Yahoo e-mail on this computer, rather than directly using Yahoo Mail. All Inbox mail transferred correctly to Microsoft Outlook from Yahoo Mail, but now can't see any mail on my iphone. I'm using the same server information and port numbers on both the computer and iphone. No luck. Any suggestions?

    The mailboxes and messages for an account that you access with Outlook are not synced with the iPhone. This is not included with the iTunes sync process.
    If you are accessing your Yahoo account as a POP account, what is your account setting with Outlook for removing messages from the server when downloaded?
    The setting needs to be never if you want access to the same messages available at the incoming mail server for the account when accessing the account with the iPhone's Mail client.
    A POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only. You cannot store sent messages on the server with a POP account, so any messages sent with the account using Outlook will not be available in the account's Sent mailbox when accessing the account with the iPhone's Mail client, and vice-versa.
    You should consider an IMAP account instead, which is designed to be accessed with an email client on multiple computers or devices. All server stored mailboxes for an IMAP account are kept synchronized with the server with all email clients used to access the account. You can store the account's Drafts, Sent, and Trash mailbox on the server with both email clients used to access the account. Send a message with the account using the iPhone's Mail client, and the sent message will be available in the account's Sent mailbox automatically when checking the account with Outlook on your computer, and vice-versa. Read a new message with the iPhone's Mail client, and the message will be marked as read automatically when checking the account's Inbox mailbox with Outlook.
    This is not possible with a POP account.

  • Push E-Mail Problems Yahoo!

    Hey guys, I have the ipod touch 2g with 3.0. When i set up my sbcglobal e-mail account under the yahoo heading in the mail app it doesn't push. I have push enabled but when i go to the account it gives me the option to either fetch or manual, so i set it to fetch for 15 minutes, but i need my email sooner than that. Why isn't it working for me?

    Hi,
    The iPhone supports MobileMe, Microsoft Exchange, and Yahoo! push email accounts, as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2625
    You can try contacting SBC and asking if there is a way to convert the SBC account to a Yahoo! account or how to setup the account on the iPhone with push.

  • On an iphone 4s, when I tap the phone number in my contacts list instead of calling the number it goes to a "Welcome to mail screen" how do I make it call the number instead?

    On an iphone 4s, when I tap the phone number in my contacts list instead of calling the number it goes to a "Welcome to mail" screen with icloud, Microsoft exchange, Gmail, Yahoo, Aol & Windows Live Hotmail listed beneath. How do I make it call the number instead?

    Never heard of that.  I suspect it thinks that's an email address and you're seeing that screen b/c you don't have an email account setup on your iPhone.
    Assuming the number is valid, try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

  • Whats with MSN on an iBook

    Since I switched to the iBook I've been unable to connect too my MSN Messenger service. I know its not a problem with my Network because I was using the service with my PowerBook G$ before I switched. I checked MSN Messenger in System Preferences>Sharing>Firewall but it still does not connect.
    Is there something else I need to do to connnect?
    Thx.
    Sam

    Its strange.. I can use Microsoft Messenger (and Yahoo) at home with no problems, but at work, i can only use yahoo! Its not to do with firewalls as i dont use one.... and if i (gulp) change all my ip details to a (gulp) PC. both work fine..
    I think its a bug in the MSN software.. theve just released a newer version for windows.. heres hoping the mac version comes soon!

  • Need to import excel address book into google or iphone?

    This is my scenario - a very close friend had his 4000+ contact list on Novell Groupwise but was let go from his job, he was able to grab the list and export it to Excel.  When I view this list it has all of the info and each column seems correct like Column a has the Name to show, column B is email, Column C is Phone and so on.  What is the best way to get this list onto his iPhone?

    Save the Excel list as a .csv (comma-separated value) file.
    Address Book can import .csv files.
    Once the contacts are in Address Book, they can of course be synced to iPhone.
    The process is described in more detail if you open the Help file for Address Book and search on "importing." There's a topic called Importing Contacts from Other Applications.
    If you are in GMail and you click Contacts, and the More menu, there is an Import command. That, too, imports .csv files, so the same file you exported should work there too. The help text on that page says "...We also support importing vCard from apps like Apple Address Book." Which means you could also start from Address Book and export as vCard instead of CSV.
    http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=14024
    CSV and vCard are industry standards for contact list exchange, so at least one of these formats will work with almost any mail program anywhere, from Apple Mail to Microsoft Outlook to Yahoo Mail etc. etc.

  • How did imessage start executing on my phone?

    I was trying to make a one-one appointment with the apple store, because their website has been troublesome for the past
    week or so.   After we made the appointment (which took over an hour and I was on hold 5x), while I was still on the phone with
    Apple store, I got a dialogue box on the phone that distracted me because it popped up on top of what I was doing, it
    flashed my yahoo mail account as the id on the phone and asking for my password and it knew my yahoo mail account.
    Did something or someone automatically sign me up for iMessage?  Who told it to use my email?  Its an application I did not install.
    A similar problem occured with Apple mail.  I never use Apple mail and it automatically fired up and tried to log in to my yahoo mail account.
    How do we control this stuff?  I no longer even know what is running on my machine or how to stop it.  How would I determine
    if private data has been sent somewhere?  I certainly did not give apple mail my permission to use my yahoo mail account, etc.
    What's up?

    Hi,
    Lion (OS X 10.7.x) draws info from your Keychain.
    In places this info in System Preferences > Mail, Contact and Calendars.
    It will presume you use any email IDs in Mail.
    As Mail can create NOTES these may also be activated in the Mail, Contacts and Calendars pane.
    In some cases some Apple IDs ending in @mac.com and @me.com are also valid in iChat or the Messages Beta if you have it installed.
    As Google and Yahoo names can be used in iChat/Messages these may also have been "turned On" in the Mail, Contacts and Calendars Pane.
    Emails accounts can be turned Off in the Mail, Contacts and Calendars Pane or disabled in the Mail App.
    If your Apple ID is linked to iCloud then you may need to look at the iCloud pane as well in System Preferences.
    If you have Messages beta installed and entered an Apple ID to make it work it will use this to Sync with your iPhone.
    The info about this is "sort of" there on this page
    Nearer the bottom is the bit on System Preferences
    Set up online accounts
    The new Mail, Contacts and Calendars pane in System Preferences gives you a central location to set up and manage all your accounts, including Microsoft Exchange, Gmail, Yahoo! and AOL.
    What is does not say is that it is ON by default.
    It may be more that you did not Deny the OS to do these things rather than something that you had to allow it to do.

  • IChat and msn

    Is apple ever going to come out with a version of iChat(and mail) that is compatible with hotmail and msn messenger?
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    I am not a product manager in Apple nor in MS, so I can't tell them which protocols to implement nevertheless they wont listen to me (alone). Honestly I don't even mind whether they should implement it in iChat or in another software, but the fact are that:
    1) Most web camera's (90% or 99%) are not supporting Mac.
    2) Skype has video support for windows but not for Mac.
    3) MSN on Mac has no video support.
    4) And even Apple, don't take care of us by giving us something that does work cross platform.
    So at the end of the day whether this is XMPP/Jabber or any other protocol, Mac users are getting nothing useful to use for proper video chats.
    BTW according to latest market researches MSN is leading with over 60% worldwide market share, 70-90% in Europe, Latin America and Asia, and neck to neck with AOL in the US.
    Hey guess what..(?) 99.9999% of the users around
    the
    world use Windows.
    It's probably closer to 90% (~3% Mac, ~5% Linux,
    leaving about 2% other).
    Why not give the 0.00001% of us
    loyal to Mac a proper way to connect to our
    families
    and friends, who use MSN for video chats???
    I suspect it's because Apple is a US company. In the
    US AIM rules, in Europe it's MSN. In Asia i've heard
    that ICQ is still popular (but ICQ and AIM use the
    same protocol now anyway).
    Frankly i don't want Apple to add MSN capabilities to
    iChat, and i'd rather they depreciate the AIM
    capabilities in favour of more work on XMPP/Jabber.
    If you want interconnectivity i suggest you email
    Microsoft (,AOL and Yahoo) and ask them why they
    aren't supporting the IETF standard for IM, which is
    XMPP.

  • Syncing iphone4S to ipad Generation 1

    I'm trying to sync my iphone4S apps and contacts  to an I pad generation 1  Can it be done and if so, How?

    Hello there, onieryan.
    The best bet would be to use iCloud backup to "restore" the iPad. First you will need to backup the iPhone:
    iCloud: Backup and restore overview
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4859
    Once your backup is complete, the following article should help you out with getting the iPad restored from that backup:
    iCloud: Troubleshooting restore issues with iCloud Backup
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4036
    How to Restore
    To restore from an iCloud backup, you must have a valid iCloud backup to restore from. Your iOS device (iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch) must be in the Setup Assistant, which is available when you first set up your iOS device, or immediately after erasing all content and settings on an iOS device. The basic steps to restore are as follows:
    After proceeding through the initial, basic setup steps (such as choosing a language and joining a Wi-Fi network, you will be given several options in the Setup iPhone (or, iPad or iPod touch) screen. Choose Restore from iCloud Backup, and tap Next.
    When prompted in the iCloud Sign In screen, enter the Apple ID and Password for the iCloud account you wish to restore from. Then, tap Next.
    When prompted, review the Terms and Conditions. Then, if you agree to them, tap Agree.
    In the Choose Backup screen, select the backup you wish to restore from. A checkbox will appear next to the backup you have chosen to restore from.
    Note: You can access older Backups by tapping "Show older backups..."
    Tap Restore to start the restore process.
    After initiating a restore, iOS will begin restoring the data you backed up to iCloud. The first part of the restore process is the foreground restore, which consists of the restoration of settings and third-party application data. While this is occurring, you will be given an estimate of how long it will take for the foreground restore to complete. Your iOS device will be fully occupied by the restore process. During the foreground restore, it's best to simply allow allow our iOS device to work. After the foreground restore completes, your iOS device will reboot and begin the background restore. During the background restore, Camera Roll content is restored and iTunes and App Store content is downloaded again from the iTunes and App Store. During the background restore, you may be prompted for login information for various accounts, such as:
    Your iCloud Apple ID
    Additional Apple IDs, if you have purchased and backed up items from the iTunes and App Store with multiple Apple IDs
    The username and passwords for any additional Internet accounts you configured while backing up, such as Microsoft Exchange, Gmail, Yahoo, or any number of third-party email or Internet services you were using.
    You can continue to use your iOS normally during the background restore, though it is advisable to have it on a Wi-Fi network for the best performance.
    Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro D.

  • Concatenate fields on multiple child rows into one single string

    Hi -
    I'm pretty much new to BI Publisher, and I looked through the forums for what I was trying to do below, but couldn't find much on this.
    Here's my data source:
    <BUSINESSES>
    <BUSINESS>
    <NAME>Microsoft</NAME>
    </BUSINESS>
    <BUSINESS>
    <NAME>Apple</NAME>
    </BUSINESS>
    <BUSINESS>
    <NAME>Google</NAME>
    </BUSINESS>
    <BUSINESS>
    <NAME>Yahoo</NAME>
    </BUSINESS>
    </BUSINESSES>
    What I was trying to do is create a single string from the XML data source in the form
    Microsoft,Apple,Google,Yahoo,............
    Here was my plan to do this:
    1. Create a global variable - <?variable:AllNames;''?>
    2. Loop - For each BUSINESS
    2a. Capture NAME - <?variable@incontext:BusName;'NAME'?>
    2b. Concatenate it to the global variable AllNames - <?variable:AllNames;concat($AllNames,',',$BusName)?>
    3. End Loop
    4. Display global variable - <?$AllNames?>
    I get a blank RTF when I run this.
    Can someone please advice me on this? I thought it would be pretty simple to do, but here i am at the end of the day, and ...
    Thank you.

    There are multiple ways to do it..
    one option of using variable, which i would not certainly do is this :)
    <?xdoxslt:set_variable($_XDOCTX,'TESTTEST’,’’)?>
    <?for-each:/BUSINESSES/BUSINESS?>
    <?position()?>: <?NAME?> <?xdoxslt:set_variable($_XDOCTX,'TESTTEST’,  concat(xdoxslt:get_variable($_XDOCTX,'TESTTEST’),’,’ ,NAME) )?>
    <?end for-each?>
    <?xdoxslt:get_variable($_XDOCTX,'TESTTEST’)?>

  • Problem faced with setContentType

    Initially i am sorry for posting this here as this is not a Swings topic.
    I am facing a prob. of the foll. type :
    I have a string with me which has some content for eg strA =
    To:
    123/456
    239.
    Items Qty.
    2 8
    Thanks,
    ABC.
    Lets suppose the content is as above.I am using setContentType(strA,"text/plain").I can use text/html but there is a certain requirement due to which i have used plain text & the final format is as I have printed above.
    I am mailing this text.
    My prob. is that i receive the same format thru Microsoft Outlook ,hotmail & yahoo accounts.
    But am facing a prob. with the format when i receive it thru Outlook Express.
    The text gets typed without any alignment.,spaces ....
    What could be the reason & is there any way to solve this.Is my MIME type wrong?

    \n...is the only tag i have used...i have avoided even \t........
    basically the string spaces r maintained by means of spaces.....
    as no tags were wanted to be kept...as i said this is plain text......
    but even the spaces r not taken properly...........the text get's printed the way it wants to .......in outlook express...i believe that text/plain cud be replaced by something else but that is what i don't know....

  • Push notifacation in ios7?, Push notifacation in ios7?

    i keep getting a pop up message saying to connect to itunes to use push notifications.
    what can i do to fix this and get the pop up msg?
    And imessages and facetime isnt working either.
    Help?!

    Here is what the iPod Touch 2.1 pdf manual says:
    Push Accounts
    MobileMe, Microsoft Exchange, and Yahoo! Mail are known as “push” accounts. When
    new information is available, such as the arrival of an email message, the information
    is automatically delivered (pushed) to iPod touch. (In contrast, “fetch” services require
    your email software to periodically check with your service provider to see if new
    messages have arrived, and then request them to be delivered.) MobileMe and
    Exchange also use push to sync your contacts, calendars, and bookmarks (MobileMe
    only) if you have those items selected in the account settings.
    Synced information is transferred automatically over your wireless connection; you
    don’t need to connect iPod touch to your computer to sync. iPod touch can receive
    pushed data over a Wi-Fi connection only when iPod touch is awake (the screen is on,
    or iPod touch is connected to your computer or a power adapter).
