Other Device/Sound Card not working properly

My sound card keeps failing. I can restart my computer and it will work fine for a random amount of time. But usually I'll be running youtube or soundcloud and the audio will just stop. The video will stop and no longer play.  I can try video files on my computer and they won't even play on Windows Media Player. I try in VLC and the video will play, but not the audio.  I've tried every driver known to the HP driver update process, I've tried updating the Intel Chip the Bios, everything.  I'm out of options. Can you help?

Hi: You need this driver for the unknown device and you may have to manually install it by browsing to the driver folder. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp66001-66500/sp66231.exe The only suggestion I can offer for the audio is if your model has the Realtek HD audio system, accept the agreement, download and install the second driver on the list. http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

  • Audio / Sound Card not working after Soundblaster.USB.Audio.Support.pkg

Ok, first - confess - it was stupid. I installed the Soundblaster.USB.Audio.Support.pkg package, which i downloaded from the internet, to make the harman Kardon Soundsticks (USB-Version) working, as nothing happened when plugging them in.
First, it ruined the mouse working after reboot and also disabled the internal sound card, not even as device available anymore. I fixed the mouse problem by installing IOUSBFamily-281.4.0-log(PPC).dmg
How can I make the sound card be available and working again ? I also updated to 10.4.11. Did not help ! Can you ? Thanks !

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
First, look in system preferences, accounts, and for your login account look at login items to see if there is a Soundblaster USB module that is loaded when you reboot your system. Delete it if there is one.
If you updated to 10.4.11 by software update, download the combo update from http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx10411comboupdat eppc.html . The combo update is a complete update for all updates to 10.4, and installing the combo sometimes fixes odd things.

  • Sound is not working properly

    Dear Team,
Would you please provide me a solution To my problem.
My Right Speaker on HP PAVILION G4 notebook is not working properly. Its sound is craking.
    Regards,
    John

    Hello,
I see that both of you guys are having the same exact issue. Yes, usually updating the BIOS and audio drivers fixes this issue.
This seems to be a driver issue going on with the audio and just simply updating the drivers should more than likely fix the issue.
Now, before we get going could both of you please give me the full model name and number of the notebook you have.
Once I receive that information, I will send you a link to install the BIOS and Audio drivers.
If you have any more questions please let me know.

  • Sound is not working properly ? The volume button keeps saying sound effects when it's pressed .

Sound is not working at all now , when you press the volume button it says sound effects but nothing is happening

    Hello Hartnett01,
Thank you for the details you provided regarding your audio issue you are experiencing on your iPad.  I found a couple of resources that I think might help.
First, I recommend following steps in the following tutorial to address an issue like this (you can skip step 2 "Recharge iPad" because it's not related to this issue):
    Frozen or unresponsive iPad
    https://www.apple.com/support/ipad/assistant/ipad/
If the issue persists, I recommend reviewing this article next (the title of the article refers to an iPhone, but the steps still apply to an iPad):

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Sound card not working anymo

Hello. i've been working on this for the past 5 hours, but i've taken a breath and now i'm going to post here to see if any one can help me out. Im working with 2 computers, heres one:
    [Computer One]
Yesterday, i first noticed that when i plugged in my microphone (a new one i bought) to the sound card i have (Audigy 2 ZS Platinum), it crashes my computer.
Today, i tried a newer headset, a USB one, and plugged it in. (these headsets are logitech). The microphone works good (while plugged into the card, but then i have like maybe 2.5% volume (very very, very low) in the headphones. I checked my system volume, i changed around EVERY thing to see if i could get the phones to work, but no sound from my voice chat server (Teamspeak) would play at any hearable level. (i know it worked because they yelled and i could hear them, a little).
So after that all does not work, i plug in my old trusty headset (to the front dri've bay i got with my card) and then i start getting ERRORS and stuff when i open teamspeak, heres the 2 i get:
"OpenDevice Specified device identifier is out of range", then I hit OK and it gives me: "waveInGetDevCaps Specified device indentifier is out of range".
I then uninstall my drivers for the sound card, and download these: SBAX_WBUP2_LB_2_09_006
When I try to install them, it says something like: please make sure your sound card is installed correctly, or something of the nature.
    [Computer Two]
I install my old Sound Blaster Li've 5. card on my second computer, and i download the drivers for it, and it says the same thing when installing drivers: "make sure its installed correctly," like my Audigy 2 ZS Plat. Thats when it hit me, there has to be something i'm doing wrong here, how it could give me the same error on 2 machines?
I really have no idea what to make of this, any help is appreciated

  • Ipod touch 5th generation overheating and now sound is not working properly

Got an ipod touch 5th gen a few days ago and it has been working well for the first few days, then last night it came up with an 'overheat' message and turned itself off.  I was surprised as it wasn't working particularly hard when it overheated, just plugged into a speaker system playing an audiobook.  After cooling down and recharging the battery, I was able to turn the ipod back on again, but realised this morning when I tried to watch a video on it that there was no sound coming from the internal speaker.  Also when headphones are plugged in the sound is really crackly.  (the level of crackle changes when you change the volume - it is most crackly in the middle of the volume range and clearer when it is louder).  Before it overheated, it had none of these issues.  Also, it now seems to take longer to charge the battery, and the battery doesn't seem to hold it's charge as long.  Is there anything I can do at home to fix these issues (as we live in a remote area)?

Try the following but I thing your iPod is defective
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store if it still does not work OK

  • Sound Card not working (resolved)

I've got a new system, and the integrated sound card on it isn't working, so I swiped the PCI sound card from my old computer and inserted it.  And it's not working.  I've pretty much tried every method on the troubleshooting section of ALSA's page on the wiki, without any luck.  And yes, this includes unmuting and setting the volume of the sound channels.

  • Beam Internet/Laptop Connect Air Card not working properly

We recently upgraded to the ATT Beam aircard as we lost our previous version on vacation. We live in a rural area and using the Laptop USB Connect Card (Beam) is the only access to the internet. When we first activiated it we were able to connect to the internest the first couple of days (Windows 7). Now, the digital read out on the Beam shows "Ready to Connect" but when opening the All Access icon to connect, we either get a "no modem/device detected" or it will say its connected on All Access but the Beam show Ready to Connect and we have no access. I've run the diagnositic too, I've deleted All Acess and reinstalled, I've unplugged and plugged the Beam back in, nothing works, I have not been able to connect to the interet with it at all. I am currently teathering off my cell phone. I'm locked into a 2 year on this Beam since I upgraded and so far its not working. Thoughts?

  • Cirrus Logic sound card not working - Just a quick question (iMac 27-inch)

Hi, so as many have experienced, my sound card is not registering on my new iMac, on the Windows Vista side. I get sound out of the Mac side, just nothing from Windows.
I was wondering, would a USB sound card or sound pod solve the problem? I am not amazing with computers... But would buying one of those be a possibility?
I was looking at something like this...
    http://www.emicrophones.com/p-1230-andrea-pure-audio-usb-sa-full-duplex-usb-soun d-pod.aspx
If anyone who knows what they're talking about could give me some input on this, it would be greatly appreciated. I do a lot of video editing on the Windows side, so having no sound would be an extreme burden.

Hi - I had this problem when I installed WIndows Vista (32 bit) on my i5 iMac. I believe I resolved the problems by finding the drivers on the OSX install disk. What I am struggling with is updating the video drivers - but that is another story...

  • Notification sound is not working properly

I have a problem with the notification sounds wether it was for the sms or chat.
The sound of the notification is not plaid properly, am not sure that i can describe it but try to imagine that the sound was frozen then went on.
It repeats the sound at first then play the rest of the tone.
Hope you got me guys, cause it annoys me and i need a solution.
I have tried another iphone and the sound came out perfectly as i heared when i selected it from the setting.
    Many thanks and best regards,

    You're welcome.
I assume you have checked the volume level when playing music? The iPhone has two volume levels - one for the phone and when listening to songs or other media, and another for the volume for the ringer, alerts, and other sound effects.

  • Sound & brightness not working properly & features often very slow

    I have a new imac.
Just trying to hit the "about this Mac" took 4 tries before it displayed, anyway its a OS X version 10.9.1 / 3.4GHz i5 8GB.
So the main issue is when I try increasing /decreasing volume or brightness with bluetooth keyboard it seems to have a lag or delay, and often does not adjust at all. At first I thought this was the only issue but now it seems the lag is effecting many areas.
even trying to open "force quit" results in the beach ball appearing and takes about a minute before the force quit actually appears.
I have 2 other macs and I have never had this issue before.
Now the sound is not on at all lol, any help appreciated!

    Hey Movitar,
I understand that you're experiencing several issues across your iMac. I would start off your troubleshooting with these steps:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Try each of the following steps in this order before you reset the SMC.  Test the issue after completing each troubleshooting step to determine if the issue still occurs.
Press Command + Option + Escape to force quit any application that is not responding.
Put your Mac to sleep by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosingSleep. Wake the computer after it has gone to sleep.
Restart your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Restart.
Shut down your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Shut Down.
If your Mac appears to be running normally but isn't responding, force the computer to shut down by pressing and holding the power button for 10 seconds. Note: You will lose any unsaved work in any open applications. For Mac portables experiencing issues related to the MagSafe power adapter and/or battery, try:
Unplug the MagSafe power adapter from the Mac and the wall power socket for several seconds.
Shutdown the Mac. Physically remove and re-insert the battery (if it's removable) and startup the Mac.
If the issue is still not resolved after following the troubleshooting items above, an SMC reset may be necessary. After performing normal troubleshooting, these symptoms may indicate that an SMC reset may be necessary:
    Shut down the computer.
    Unplug the computer's power cord.
    Wait fifteen seconds.
    Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: For Intel-based Xserve computers that are not responding, you can shut down locally, or by using remote commands, or by pressing and holding the power button for five seconds.
    About NVRAM and PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
    Have a great day,

  • Airport Extreme Card Not Working Properly (Web Browsing Slow)

    Hello people of apple discussions,
I have the original MacBook Pro with Mac OS X 10.5.7 installed on it. And I have a problem, my airport extreme card is not functioning properly like when I go on the internet, it comes up with the server "www.google.com" cannot be reached or the same with Yahoo! Back when it had 10.4 it was functioning properly with very high speeds. But, all the other PCs in the house gets good internet even my iPhone and the router is functioning properly. It's been like this since for about 6-8 months and i am very upset with my mac!:|So can I have some help or any suggestions!

Have you tried contacting your ISP? Sometimes they can help you optimize your settings. Such as DNS server numbers. I had a simullar problem and found out my DNS settings were wrong.
Do you have other computers that use the wireless single? If not you might look into your router to see if maybe something is wroung with it. You can always go to a wifi hotspot or a friends house and see how the connection is there. If it seems normal then you know it is your ISP or your router. If not then it might be a laptop problem.

  • The sound is not working properly on my laptop

The past 2 days I've been having problems with the sound on my laptop which is an Hp Pavilion 15 Notebook PC. When I restart it, it works fine but if I pause something im watching and come back to it the sound is no longer working. I also notice that when this happens if I hit the mute button it doesn't light up orange but it does show the mute icon. I'm not that good with computers...I tried troubleshooting it, it says theres nothing wrong. Im confused, please help!

    Try this:
In the device manager locate the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC under sound, game and video controller.
    Right click and select uninstall.
Restart your computer and open up the device manager again.
In the same spot under sound, game and video controller where the IDT CODEC used to be listed there will be something else listed.
Right click on that and select "scan for hardware changes" this will reinstall the IDT CODEC but I believe it is the updated driver which is actually compatible.
It has been working for me so far, but I will keep you updated if it fails again. For now  I would try that!! good luck

  • External audio cards not working properly

First off, i have an HP Dv7-1134us laptop.  AMD 2.0 GHZ dual core processor, 4 gigs of ram, etc etc.  I have 2 external audio cards:
    1.Presonus Firestudio Mobile(firewire)
    2.Line 6 UX1(usb)
I had an HP desktop before that I used for recording, but that recently broke down so I have been trying to use my laptop.  I bought a Firewire express card for the presonus, and installed everything along with it.  However, while my computer recognizes the device, it will consistently turn off and on...but no audio comes out.
The Line 6 ux1 works, but it crackles and pops at a ridiculous rate.  When recording more than 1 track, it clutters up my speakers with nothing but crackling and distortion.
I have tried an Express Booster for the first issue, have tried disabling my LAN card, have tried disabling IRQ's in the control panel and nothing has changed.  Can ANYONE help me or am I going to have to really jump ship and just get a mac?

Sorry about the delay in replying....
The updated ATI drivers that should apply to my machine are at
    http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/radeon_win7-64.aspx
or the file I was originally pointed to
    http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/integrated_win7-32.aspx#3
but these won't install here, neither will any other updates from ATI, even older ones.
I'm waiting for a family member to bring round his Win 7 64-bit machine as I want to compare the Microsoft files referred to in the failure messages on his machine with mine.  I'm trying not to have to re-install Windows.....
I think the recording tab effect is just a Microsoft programming problem that happens to show up the fault in the ATI usb part of the motherboard chipset drivers, and I think it may appear because the little recording meters that appear are driven by some recording code of Microsoft's. Here using a powered or unpowered usb2 hub cures the problem as it moves the translation between usb 1 and usb 2 away from the faulty code in the machine.
It's interesting that I've been posting all over the place for many, many months about this and had no response anywhere until about 10 days ago and now there have been 2 responses. It will be really good if you can confirm that a usb 2 hub and/or the ATI update cures the problem.
I think you may find there are some remaining crackles which can be got rid of by disabling any wifi networking on the machine.
