Other use for Mini?

I have a pink 4Gb mini (first generation, I believe) that my daughter no longer uses as she rec'd a new Nano 3G for Christmas. I charged it up fully today and am running it to see how the battery performs -- has been running 5 hours and has one bar left so the battery seems fine.
My question is... are there other uses for an iPod Mini vs. selling it on eBay? Everyone in my family has a more recent iPod. I'm hoping there may be some creative people who have thought up some other uses for it.
Thanks.

Yes, you can use it as external hard drive, but (my personal view) is not an idea insturment for the backup. Unless you are going to have the battery replacement (normally it needs to be replaced for every 18 months), I will leave my iPod with an iPod's dock system or connecting with my car stereo (using the car cig. adapter) - then you do not need to replace the battery

  • X121e, other uses for WWAN mini PCIe slot?

Does anyone know whether the mini PCIe slot in the X121e that the optional WWAN card goes in can be used for other cards?
I'm aware of the whitelist, which had been suggested may only apply to wireless devices (e.g. WLAN and WWAN) - although I'm not sure whether that's certain (i.e. doesn't apply for non-wireless devices).
I've heard some people have tried mSATA devices in this slot with no success (which isn't suprising as whilst mini PCIe is physically compatible with mSATA it isn't electrically, and so you need mSATA support in the hardware).  However I've been wondering about mini PCIe SSD cards and whether they would work.  I've heard that they're not brilliant when compared to mSATA devices - however I can't afford to get a large SSD for this machine, and in general, people don't need to store all their MP3/videos on SSD, as the best benefit comes with the OS and applications being stored on the SSD, with user data being fine on an HDD.  My using a mini PCIe SSD, I could potentially put the OS etc onto a cheaper/smaller SSD, with the hard drive for 'data'.
Has anyone tried this, or any other non-wireless mini PCIe devices in the X121e?
    Thanks

Might be of interest to you that I tried a half mini pcie micro sd card reader in my X301.  It would allow 64gb if it worked.  However I got an error message on boot up - can't remember exactly what it was.  Other than that the only other option was the intel turbo memory which was of little benefit to me.

  • Other uses for the zen micro H

I read about people removing the hard dri've from the zen micro -and using it in their digital slr cameras that can take CF micro dri'ves...
is this possible? could you remove the hard dri've - and put it into a CF slot on a notebook and have it show up as a 5gb dri've?

    Here's the answer i guess
    From:
    http://www.steves-digicams.com/microdri've.html
    A Note From Seagate
"The Seagate hard dri've inside these players was manufactured and qualified for use specifically in these music player applications. It is not designed to be removed from the music player, and removing the dri've voids the warranty on the music player and on the hard dri've.
Also important to note: because these dri'ves weren't designed or tested for uses external to the music players, they may not operate correctly (either short-term or long-term) in other applications.
To date, Seagate has not completed the design and testing of, and has not made available, a -inch hard dri've for use by consumers in CompactFlash slots.
Seagate is working on a consumer version of its -inch CompactFlash Type II hard dri've, the "Seagate CompactFlash Photo Hard Dri've," that will be priced very attracti'vely for the mainstream photography market. Seagate announced this dri've in June 2004. We'll have more news regarding a launch date later in the holiday season.
Best to you and to everyone at Steve's,"

  • Other uses for wildcards outside collections?

    Hi,
I can understands for using a wilcard i.e. a "?" in a collection. But I was just wondering are the used that much outside collections / lists / sets etc? Can you provide a good example of when you'd use one not in the aforementioned circumstances?
    Thanks.

Currently I am working on an easy to use, simple, abstract recursive decent parser. I try to assume as few things as possible about the things handled by the parser. What I assume is, that its input is a sequence of <C extends Enum<C>> and that its output is some type <N>. The N resembles Node, of course, but I would not want to know.
The parser interface has just one method
N parse(Lexer<N,C> lex) throws ParseExceptionThe parser's implementation makes use of a
    interface NodeFactory<N>{
      N create(List<N> children);
}There are parser implementations for Sequence, Choice, Repeat, Token and so on. The course of computation goes roughly like this: Far down the recursive decent, a Token parser recognizes a token because it gets a C from the lexer. Then it asks the lexer to provide a corresponding N for the C. The N is passed upwards. One level up, there may be a Sequence parser which wants to see a sequence of specific tokens. It collects all the N's provided by its Token parsers and then asks its NodeFactory to wrap them in a new N, which it passes up. And so on.
Nowhere the parsing mechanism has any idea what the N are, and it does not need to know. I could have used Object, but then the NodeFactory, to be provided by someone who wants to use the parser, would also see just Object. The way I do it, they can work with whatever they define as N in a typesafe fashion. • Other uses for the USB?

Since the new Extreme has hard-drive capability, does this allow for other usb data transfer such as iPod sync or the ability to scan from a printer/scanner combo? Just what exactly are the limits of this USB port?

I plugged in my usb flash memory and it works as a disk. You should try again. Are you using Airport Disk Utility? Set it to auto discover and show on menu bar.

  • Other uses for a subtitle stream - animation?

    Hello all
Is it possible to use subtitle layers for other purposes. To explain, I am going to have a very full DVD and the client wishes to have a user option for a "tickertape" style commentary running along the bottom should the user wish for more info. In effect this would be permanently moving right to left line a la Sky News.
Is there a way of doing this without creating a new m2v file and doubling the size of the material on the DVD?
I already have subtitles on another track.
    All thoughts welcome.

A short answer would be not really. There is ability to create an animated subtitle stream in the DVD spec but not in DVDSP. This would mean creating a separate subtitle for each frame to create the animation. Very labor intensive.

  • Other uses for LiveCache besides SCM?

    Hi,
I haven't been able to find a relevant answer to this question in any of the documentation.  Besides just APO, do any of you know other specific ways that SAP can use LiveCache.  Other SAP applications or modules??  Thanks
    Dave

I´m not aware of (that doesn´t mean that there isn´t anything else though)
LiveCache is an In-Memory object database. However, the underlying technology, MaxDB, can be used as database for all SAP products.

  • Other uses for iSight camera??

    I was just wondering:
Many DVD recorders have a firewire input for copying DV tapes - can the iSight camera be connected to make live recordings?
Some DV camcorders have DV input (for recording from other sources and copying iMovie projects back to tape) - can the iSight camera be connected to the DV input for aux camera?

SIM card has nothing to do with your Apple ID or apps.
IOS devices do not store anything on the SIM card.
    BAckup everything on the iPads.
REstore tbe ipad from the backup of the other iPad.
    REpeat for the other one.

How to I use my Ipad mini with  keynote to project my presentations, do I need any other app for that?I have a lighting to VGA cable already

If you are using Keynote, then no, you would be fine with just the adapter and a cable hooked up to the projector.

  • I've just hooked my 20" iMac up to my Toshiba 37" HDTV using a mini dvi-HDMI adapter, and works well, EXCEPT for the green tinge (or hue) that is showing up on my TV. Any suggestions or ideas?

I've just hooked my 20" iMac display up to my Toshiba 37" HDTV using a mini dvi-HDMI adapter, and everything works well, EXCEPT for the green tinge (or hue) that is showing up. Everything else looks pretty good though..... The color that is on my iMac is still good, Its just green on the TV.
    Anyone have suggestions or ideas?

Try opening the Display System Preferences, then click on the Color options in the Display preferences window that appeared on the Toshiba display. Click on the Calibrate button and follow the instructions for creating a custom ColorSync profile that will hopefully solve the green tinge issue. The Apple Display Calibrator Assistant software that launches when you click on the calibrate button will walk you through the process.Assuming that the green tinge is minor and that you don't have a more serious cable or hardware issue, I am hopeful the results will be worth it.

  • I have a personal itunes account with an iPhone5s and an iPad 4 mini. I have unlokced my old iPhone 4 to use for work on a diffeent SIM and new number, can i have all devices associated to me single appleID and use both numbers ?

I have a personal itunes account with an iPhone5s (perosnal mobile numer) and an iPad 4 mini (no SIMM). I have unlocked my old iPhone 4 to use for work on a different SIM and new number,
Do you know if I can have all devices associated to my single apple ID and still use both numbers without messing up my profile. It has just changed my number over.

I would not be able to give you idiot proof guide, since different games are different. Some of them have icloud integrated already, but those already taken care of. Some of them use specific logins and once you log - you get your info. General recommendation is to contact support sites of those games for enabling icloud instructions or enabling of transfer. There are other purely apple ways - like sync your phone in itunes and then sync apps with ipad, but those are only one time transfer. There is another way that is not typically recommended - restoring ipad from iphone backup. It may transfer your game content, but once again sync in the future has to be done by game.
So if I were you, I would address that individually with every game provider.

  • I am trying to use the Mini Bridge in Adobe Photoshop CS6 (desktop) and all I get is "Waiting for Bridge CS6 ..." in the panel at the bottom of the screen.

I am running on a Core i7 iMac with 20GB or RAM and have already done the two applicable steps in the main Adobe  help area relating to Switchboard (Error: Waiting for Bridge | Mini Bridge panel) to no avail. Any ideas?

Have you tried to start the bridge CS6  then open Photoshop CS6 try to use the mini bridge.
I have a problem on windows too.  Sometimes when I open CS6 version 13.1.2 and try to use the mini bridge Its panels has a message Bridge must be running and there is a launch bridge button. When I use that button Bridge  gets launched but may hangs before displaying its application window or anything in the mini bridge panel.  I can terminate the bridge when this happens with windows task manager and start the bridge. After doing that the mini bridge launch button became a reconnect button using it mini bridge then work.
I can also start Bridge CS6 before  Photoshop CS6 and mini bridge works as soon as Photoshop is up and running.

  • I want to install Snow Leopard Server on our MacPro (2.66) using Mac Mini Snow Leopard Server disks?  I kept getting an error for backwards compatibility.   Is this possible or do I need to purchase another copy of Snow Leopard Server?

I want to install Snow Leopard Server on our MacPro(2.66) using Mac Mini Snow Leopard Server disks?  I kept getting an error for backwards compatibility.   Is this possible or do I need topurchase another copy of Snow Leopard Server?

The OS disks that are shipped with a particular product
are set up so that tey will only install on that product.
It will install on any Mini of that exact vintage, but that
    is all.
This is to prevent people from doing exactly what you
are trying to do.  The license for OSX shipped with any
is only valid for that product.  Also, Snow Leopard,
including Server, is only permitted to be run on one
computer at a time.  Bottom line, unlike Lion, legally
you cannot install the same copy on multiple
computers unless some "family pack" or site license
    is purchased.
Yes, you need to purchase another copy.
The copy of Snow Leopard license is here:
