OTN update

Several people have reported that they can not download BAM technotes, samples, etc. There is a problem with OTN and it is being worked on by IT. Problems should be resolved shortly.

Online or archived update site for 12.1.1?

Hi!
Any chance there will be online or archived update site for 12.1.1?

Since the time frame for the OEPE 12.1.1 beta is fairly short, less than two months, we are only planning on making the zipped installers available. We plan to run additional beta programs throughout 2012 and will consider making either an update site or update site archives available.
Is your standard install method for OEPE from the OTN Update Site?

OCCI Collateral page resouces all give 404 errors

Updated OWB module available in "Oracle By Example" series on OTN

All,
The Oracle By Example series on OTN has been updated to Oracle9i Release 2. This includes a Warehouse Builder module updated from 3i to 9i. The module is a simple set of hands-on activities using the order entry tables that come with the database. (The module is a high-level overview, not a substitute for the 4-day instructor led course, "Oracle9i Warehouse Builder: Implementation", course code D12157GC20.)

Hi Paul,
As far as my understanding.
You dont want to create "REL_EXPENSE.REL_EXPENSE.REL_TIME_DAY_CODE" in the times dimension since the "code" attribute is already present in the time dimension(once you created using time wizard).
Soon after you created the cube by mapping the two dimension "category" and "times" to it, all the attributes in both the dimension will be present in the cube automatically. Other than this you will create a measure column named "Expense" in the cube.

Updated 'Second GLOBAL Schema for Documentation' posted to OTN

The Oracle OLAP Application Developer's Guide 10.2 uses a specific version of the GLOBAL schema for some of its examples. This version, global_doc.zip, has been updated and posted to OTN. In the previous version, Window users may have run into a problem installing the Second Global Schema for Documentation. It was discovered that in the global_install.sql script the line that imports the data is operating system specific. That line starts with "!imp" .
The line to begin with "ho imp" has been changed so that it works for both Windows and Linux. You can find the new version of global_doc.zip at the following OTN site:

Try checking the table XML_LOAD_LOG as this contains details of all the jobs executed for your AW. I suspect the mapping for your source data columns to your cube measures and dimension keys is probably incorrect. If you check the load log table it will tell you if any rows were loaded into your cube and/or how many rows were rejected by the load. If you cannot see any data I suspect the load rejected all the records.
Try using the following report to look at the load log table:

OTN Developer Day update disk?

I went to one of the earlier OTN Developer Days held in Denver - which was really great. At that time, JDev 11g had just been released, but the materials would only work with one of the technical previews. Is it possible to download updated disk images as they are updated to the latest JDeveloper releases?

Hi Experts,
I have to install oracle 10gR2 10.2.0.1.
Customer will provide me the licsense keys but they could not arrange me media/dvd.
Is it ok to download 10gR2 from url

Oracle assumes you can connect to the internet, a not unreasonable assumption these days, even if it means downloading to another computer then moving the zips around. Oracle also assumes you want to send all sorts of information over the internet to them from the database, an unreasonable assumption in my view.

Update:: New OTN Mass Agent Deployment page

Hello Everyone,
We have been seeing lot of customers downloading wrong Agent software from the OTN for the respective platforms and then in turn the installation fails.
So we have revamped the OTN mass agent deployment page and came up with new page(http://www.oracle.com/wocportal/page/wocprod/ver-DRAFT/ocom/technology/software/products/oem/htdocs/agent/test-otn_0.html), which is Live now.
The new page classifies the Agent software based on the platforms names (32 / 64 bit) and further classifies based on the Agent releases.
This will leave us with no gap of downloading the wrong agent software for a 32 or 64 bit platform.

I don't know if it is possible to uninstall the agent from the GUI. We don't have the provisioning pack. I guess it may be possible to create a job that would run the installer in silent mode to do an un-install. We have just done them interactively on the target server - going under agent_home/oui/bin & running the installer. Then if there is anything left over from the agent_home, after the installer updates the central inventory file.
If run the install interactively on the target server, you should get a meaningful error message. I would guess that it sees that the agent already exists from the inventory. You could try launching the installer from the oracle server software home & then remove the "orphaned" agent home.

Updated GLOBAL_OCM.ZIP posted to Oracle OLAP site on OTN

There was a bug in the GLOBAL_MAIN.SQL script that is part of the
GLOBAL_OCM.ZIP file found on the OLAP OTN web page:

This issue has been fixed. The problem was the GLOBAL_MAIN script did not grant select on the UNITS_HISTORY_FACT and the PRICE_AND_COST_HISTORY_FACT
tables to GLOBAL_AW, so the BuildAWExample.java program could not successfully build the measures in the analytic workspace. These grants have now been added.

I also get a CRC error when unzipping these same files.

Updated OLAP DML Reference 10.2 posted to OTN

The Oracle OLAP DML Reference has been updated with corrections for Oracle Database 10.2. As you may not be aware, this document corresponds to the OHJ Help for Analytic Workspace Manager. You can find the revised doc at :

I'm thinking I don't have a real operational problem here, but I do like to tie up any loose ends and keep things as clean as possible.
Ditto....we had many more invalid objects after the upgrade than before and they were all OLAP related. As we weren't using OLAP we did the cleanup to avoid any future issues.
It seems odd to me that if one selects to install Standard Edition One, it would still install EE options at all ..... just to have DBUA choke on them later.
Our Oracle support guy was a bit confused as to why the OLAP removal scripts didn't exist on our server. This was expected for Standard Edition but not Enterprise Edition. Something has probably happened during some migration/upgrade to cause this. In any case removing the objects manually including the public OLAP synonyms resolved our issues.

Updated Instant Client 11.2 for Linux 64 bit is on OTN

The 11.2 Instant Client for Linux 64bit has been updated on http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/oci/instantclient/htdocs/linuxx86_64soft.html
It is now at the same patch level as 32 bit.

I just tried to download these as RPMs. I was able to download the basic rpm but the sqlplus rpm and supplemental jdbc rpms failed. Instead of getting a prompt to save the file, content was displayed by the browser (binary content). It appears as is the mime type was not set correctly?

Hi All,
I am getting this error while updating ecs in Document Definition. I was able to do it properly on the same environment a few weeks back but now its throwing an error:
Error -: AIP-11052: Writing following objects: Document Definition failed due to following constraint violation: DOCUMENTDEFINITION. CAN NOT UPDATE UNVERSIONABLE OBJECT IN A VALIDATED CONFIGURATION
I read in some of the OTN forums that this may be an environment issue. So i restarted the B2B server as suggested but the error seems to still exist.
Kindly reply how to proceed. Its little critical.

Make sure there is no agreement in deployed/validated state which is using this document definition. Retire and purge all existing configurations which are using this doc def and make sure there is no agreement in validated state. If there is an agreement in validated state and then change/just update anything in agreement and save it to bring it back into draft state.

Error while updating table before branching to a report

Hi,
I have an apex form screen where on click of a button, i need to change a few flags on the screen and then display a bi publisher report.
when the user clicks the PRINT Button a javascript function is called, which will set the flags and submits the form. I have the default process row of table process to update the form fields.
in the branch i gave the BI publisher report url.
everything works fine so far.
if i click the print button again for a second time, i get a checksum ... error as shown below.
ORA-20001: Error in DML: p_rowid=982-000790, p_alt_rowid=_ID_NUMBER, p_rowid2=, p_alt_rowid2=. What i am trying to do is:

2. select a record from the report click edit and it will take you to the details screen page 7.
3. on page 7 i have 2 select boxes with YES/NO flag. Initially set them to NO.
save changes.
4. click on the print button. it will reset the select lists to YES and opens a report.
5.now go and edit anything on the screen and click apply changes.
we will get the an error.
All i am trying to do is update the flags to YES before displaying the report which works fine. but if i try to edit any data and save it throws an error.
