OtterBox Defender series. Cause of Multiple Issues.

So i recently got an OtterBox Defender series case for my iPod touch to keep it a bit more protected. After puting it on, IIrealized that my back faceing camera is unresponsive, and so is the front faceing camera. Weather I use the included camera app, or Camera+, it doesent work, at all.
Anouther issue wouldbe that the top left hand corner of my iPod touch...is extreamly... sensitive. Like if I touch it with a little bit to much force, it looks like it distorted, and blurs. It seems like it's about to crack if i press it.

Whomever told you about this forum was wrong. We are iPhone users trying to help others with iPhone hardware problems. This is not a chat room and we are not here to discuss the best case for your iPhone. As much as we sympathize with your situation, this is not the place for that discussion.

Otterbox Defender Case causing Proximity Sensor issues

I think the otter box defender case offers the best protection for my Iphone4 but I also think it is causing my proximity sensor issue. I cant make a call without the screen becoming active. I have surgically removed the built-in screen protector (and the associated glue) but I think I need to remove the small plastic pieces that cover the front facing camera and the sensor. Or I will try another case that doesn't cover the sensor. Has anyone else noticed this issue with the Otterbox case?

I notice this issue using the case however I didnt notice it until 4.1 and I removed all plastic on the front facing camera and the plastic over the proximity sensor I also removed the plastic covering the screen didn't fix the problem at all

IPhone 5s and the Otterbox Defender Series

I had, and have still an Apple iPhone 5s. I purchased the Otter Box Defender Series for the phone for the same day. I liked both the phone and the box with the belt clip. About 6 weeks into owning the pair. I went to take the iPhone (in Case) off my belt. The clip on the belt broke (actually a retaining clip for the phone broke) BAM! there goes my phone about 3 feet onto my kitchen floor! I'm like Oh No! I pick up the phone and see no damages at all! Thank God for the Otter Box. But then I had to carry the phone around like a brick in my hand which was a pain in the wazoo! I purchased both items at my local AT&T Store. So 1+1=2, I figured I would just take my phone and otter box clip into the store and get a new otter box (I paid $50.00) for it. My local AT&T Store has been gret they (and Apple deserve i reviews in my mind. However, when I took it in the AT&T Rep told me they do not service or replace Otter Box because it is a third party contract situation. Then they advised meme how to get the Otter Box replaced. Every timeI put in the Web address I would get a prompt saying invsalid address try again" I'm kind patient, so I would try again every oher day to contact OtterBox with no results. This all started in March 2014. I went online and saw the diagrams nd instructions on how to send the otterbox back for replacement. At the time I did not have a printer so I drew the outlines as they directed. Now were into about July and I'm still carrying my brick around in my pocket. Finally AT&T helps me again and gives me a number to call otterbox. I did they emailed me back and told had some information missing on the form. I looked at the 6 photo's I took of the phone, otter box brokrn clip and all identifyers and said no way, all the information is there! I do not get rude with the reps they are doing the best they can and normaly it is excellent.. I told them I used to place orders and do diagrams and documents daily at my career and I knew everything was right! Finally they agreed to send me the otterbox. So I carried the brick around again waiting and no Otterbox in the mail yet. I finally got tired of carrying the big bulky box and took it off. Leaving my slender and slick phone exposed to danger. Well as luck ould have it and still no box! in October- remember this started in March. I'm laying down on my bed and had soaked my feet in about 2" of water because I have "Plantar Faciitius" or basically torn tendons that don't heal from being in the Martial Arts for several years and bein an active competitor. I turned the cover over, heard plunk and said- that's right OH NO!! within 5 seconds I had the phone out of the water and was drying it off. It was dead. CRAP! If OtterBox had gotten off their butts maybe this would not have happened! So I try the phone again I get a glimpse of my screen then nothing. A friend told me put it in rice. So I did, I saw a little more of the screen and had hope .So I buried it in rice againfor two days. recharged it and SHAZAM! it worked! Yay for rice! The phone was able to make calls, text, do all it's funtions for about for days the n I went to sync it with iTunes. The screen froze with a lighting cord a dash and and arrow on the screen and that ended the iPhone 5s life. And I'm out $500-600.00! Still no otter box, so I went into a two year contract and got a Samsung GalaxyS4. Nice phone but somewhat more complicated than my iPhone, especially because it came with NO instruction manual and all the icons look different! So I was told about a shop in my city where they repair iphones. I took the phone there, a young petite Asian lady told me "two days", I said two days and it will be fixed? She said like new! So here it is November 2, she had to order a chip from China but assured me it wold be as good as new this coming week. Any extra charge? No! Halleluhah. for $90.00 I get my iPhone 5s back with a guarantee. Still no Otterbox. So a friend at AT&T told me when I asked sbout the best box to cover a phone and they told me the "LifeProof" when I heard it was water resistant I said that's what I need! But I decided to investigate it on the net. and found this forum. So tell me is the LifeProof the one or not because half seem aggravated and half satisfied. It was priced high nut I found a lower cost outlet. Thumbs up or thumbs down gang? Thank you for letting me tell my story. MjS. p.s still not otterbox, although they gave me a confirmation number about a week and a half ago. ....Wait til you hear the run around with the Behind The Head Blue Tooth that would not sync, was replaced by another at no cost, but the other cuts out and no one can hear me talk- so they said send both back we will send another. Otterbox Defender Case Issues

I have the Otterbox Defender Case for the Droid Maxx. I had the same case type for the Galaxy S3 phone, and had no problems getting the phone in and out of the plastic outer shell (belt clip). With the Droid Maxx on the other hand, if I need to answer a call or do anything with the phone, I find that I have to take the entire casing from my belt and use both hands to get the phone out of the belt clip. The same thing is the case when trying to put the phone back in. I have to get the bottom half inside the outer belt clip and then sort of force the top half in.
In looking at both defender cases side by side, there is a significant design change. The S3 defender case has a closed bottom and the top half is open with two corner pieces. In the middle of the case where the belt clip is located, there is a plastic piece that is used as 'lever' to easily insert and remove the phone.
The defender case for the droid maxx is completely open all around except for four corner pieces. There is nothing in the middle to get the phone in and out of the case. I contacted Otterbox and they first sent me a reply back with warranty claim information. The second reply included a video on how to remove the case if I want to remove the casing and to the phone. The third reply from Otterbox informed me that they didn't get pictures from the first reply. I called Otterbox, but they were unable to explain the reason for the design change.
Is it just me or is there anyone else experiencing difficulty with the defender case?

Multiple Issues with Adobe Creative Cloud app.

I'm having multiple issues with the Adobe Creative Cloud app.
1. Neither Photoshop CC nor Prelude CC get past the 47% mark when installing. They constantly give me "Installation Failed" messages. When I click on "Learn More", I'm told that:

2. I installed Lightroom 5, then uninstalled it. When I went back to re-install it, the Adobe Creative Cloud app wouldn't let me. It states that my Lightroom 5 is "Up to date" and is in my "Your Apps" section, not in the "Find New Apps" section. I've double checked my Programs and Features in Control Panel, and it's not there. I cleaned my registry, and it's still there. I deleted the "opm.db" file in my OOBE folder, and restarted CC - still nothing.
I've got to say, guys. I'm not very happy with the amount of time I've spent just trying to install programs on my PC. While the plan is for this to be intuitive at some point, it's not very functional at the moment. Any help you can provide me would be amazing - if you can provide it sooner than later, I'd be over the moon.

I fixed it. I fixed it on my own. My journey took over a week (forty hours of back and forths, trial and error, and service!!) and included multiple calls, multiple online chats, unanswered forum posts, Twitter conversations with the Adobe Customer Service team, remote access sessions with Adobe technical teams, and finally this series of emails. In the end, I had to figure it out myself. I'm not happy - not with the time it took, and not with the level service I received based on the urgency that I made clear.
For anyone else that had this issue (or similar), here is what I did to fix it. This may seem excessive, but that's because I didn't know what else to do. Some of these steps may be redundant, or not required... but I wouldn't know because once I saw that it was working, I just kept going.
Anyway, here is the solution I came upon (I'm running Windows 7 64-bit):
1) I uninstalled every single Adobe product (including Flash Player, Acrobat Player, Air, and Digital Editions).
2) I ran the Cleaner Tool (which is not very good) and came across errors in trying to delete certain folders.
3) I restarted my computer in Safe Mode, and logged into Windows 7 under my Administrator account.
4) I manually went into every folder that contained the words "Adobe" and deleted everything. This includes my Program Data folder, my Program Files folders (both x86 and 64-bit), my AppData folders, my Roaming folders, my Temp folders - ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that contained any trace of Adobe, I deleted.
5) I ran Microsoft Disk Cleanup and Piriform CCleaner to clean my registry and temp files.
6) I restarted my computer using the normal boot process and logged into Windows as Administrator.
7) I downloaded the Adobe Creative Cloud installer.
8) I restarted my computer again, and logged into Windows as Administrator.
9) I ran the Creative Cloud installer, and installed Premiere Pro.
10) I restarted my computer again, and logged into Windows as Administrator.
11) I ran the Creative Cloud installer, and installed Photoshop.
12) I restarted my computer again, and logged into Windows as Administrator.
13, 14, 15...) I ran the Creative Cloud installer and installed whatever programs I needed, then I IMMEDIATELY restarted my computer before installing anything else.

I have been having multiple issues lately with my iMac

I have been having multiple issues lately with my iMac - starting with insanely slow processing/run speeds.
When I run Activity Monitor, consistently the highest usage of CPU is "ReportCrash" - typically shows up as 80-200% of CPU.
What could this be caused by?
I posted only a portion of the code from Activity Monitor but not sure what exactly is relevant or not. I can certainly post more if it's needed.

It would help to know more about your iMac.
What year, screen size, CPU speed and amount of RAM installed?
How full is your Mac's hard drive?
How many applications do you run simultaneously in the background while working in another application?
Do you run any antivirus software on your Mac? Antivirus software can slow down the normal operation of OS X.
Do you run any "crapware" like Mackeeper or any other type of so called hard drive "cleaning" apps?
Have you downloaded and installed anything recently that might have caused the erratic behaviour of your iMac?

Updating link to Word Doc is causing a permissions issue

Hi. I am attempting to update a link to a Word file, and it is causing a permissions issues in Word when I try to open the Word document back up while the InDesign file is still open.
Is there any way to link to a Word document that can be worked on while the InDesign file is being worked on? I think I can use buzzword as an alternative, but I'm looking for the easiest possible solution.

Word checks for locked files. In that if another app is using the file, you can not open the file until the other app closes the file. It does this to make sure word has the lastest version of the file. This is partly due to word being using in an office environment were multiple people can be working on the same document.
Since word is fairly quick to open. You could use the edit original icon in the links panel of InDesign. Make your changes in word once the document opens, then use the keyboard shortcuts ctrl-s to save and alt-F4 to close word.

Iphone 5 Otterbox Defender Case...Only Black?

So they are showing an otterbox defender case for the Iphone 5 on verizons website but the only color is black, but right below the description they show part numbers for the other colors. Any reason they are not offering the other colors yet, they are all over the otterbox site already and i get a good discount here at verizon that i would like to take advantage of.

I preordered mine from Otterbox. They sent an email last week and I ordered immediately. I liked the color (aqua) and I got the commuter series (I had the Defender, but it is way to bulky for me). I think it is worth it not to deal with the hassle of a store unless you live in an area where you think there will be a good supply. Good luck.

Calling on all Otterbox Defender owners

Hi all,
After waiting patiently for two weeks, I received my Otterbox Defender for my iphone 3Gs. I'm not sure if this is a design oversight or a production issue or none at all.
Please take a look at the side of your Otterbox Defender and tell me if you see a square "flap" on the bottom "oval" hinge where the silicone "wraps' around. I'll try to explain again, without the silicone on the otterbox, if you take a look at the sides of the plastic casing, you'll see an "oval" shaped prong that juts out of the sides; obviously, designed for the silicone layer to "wrap" around. Well, please take a closer look at the 3rd bottom one and tell me if you see a very small exactly square "flap" on the inner part of the oval ring. I'm not sure what the purpose of this "flap" is for? I'm guessing if the "flap" is not there for you guys, than it's llooks like "flap" was not cut out during the oval removal process of the silicone case. I've done my best to describe, a picture is worth a thousand words, sigh. Thanks.

For a moment there, after initially reading your response, you didn't understand what I was trying to get at. But, after reading your response carefuly again, I managed to "tuck" the little "square" into the "oval" pieces on the side. Interestingly enough, when I was applying the silicone, the upper two ovals manage to tuck themselves in. In my case, and in question, the bottom oval one didn't and that's why I was puzzled as to what this "square" silicone pieces was hanging off. It was a matter of inserting it into the oval piece. Problem solved. Otterbox should mention this in their instructions.
After having used the Otterbox defender for a bit, I have one complaint. The sound port is a bit too tad muffled. In their design to cover the sound port at the bottom, it has effectively reduced the sound to a significant degree. I now have to have the sound volume at Max just to listen when I make a call using the speaker phone.

LifeProof or Otterbox Defender Case

I really need some help deciding between the Lifeproof or Otterbox Defender case for the iPhone 4s. Please!

LIFEPROOF BUYER BEWARE! If you are considering a case for your iPhone know that lifeproof has the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! One example, Purchased a lifeproof 4s pink case for Christmas present for $80. My daughter just broke phone so we purchased iPhone 5. Instead of returning unopened Sealed case asked to switch to a different color for my sons phone( said any color that isn't a girl color). Was told that they would not and never do give color exchanges for any reason. I couldn't believe I wasn't even asking for a refund JUST a color change.
Contacted LIFEPROOF about issue On phone for an hour explaining what ridiculous policy this is.
I just purchased between sister and myself four iPhone 5' s for Christmas. I explained that I will be buying all OTTER BOX for my phones. He said sorry that is their policy.
Went to AT&T with the receipt from their store and asked to exchange for different color they could see the box was sealed and said sorry they can't change color it is lifeproof policy. I have never heard of something soooo ridiculous. I have heard many bad stories from friends about their customer service and some damage problems not to mention I once purchased a lifeproof on amazon only to find out it was counterfeit. I just got off the phone with a rep in the local VZW store. She didn't say for sure, but it sounded like she said she found a product code number for the Thuderbolt Otterbox Defender case in there system. None of the stores within 100 miles had the case currently but she took my information so she could call when it does show up.
She sounded pretty confident that they would be carrying the case, and it is just a matter of time before they have it in stock.
They do care some Otterbox cases for a few of the phones they have. All I can find on the web site are BlackBerry otterbox cases, but they do cary the brand.
I do like the Seido case, especially since it works with the extended battery, however, I like the Otterbox better because of the built in screen protector. It offers a little better protection against the elements than the Seido case. I can use my phone outside when it is raining without fear of rain getting down around the screen and into the phone as easily (still have to be careful of moisture regardless).
I also use the standard battery most of the time anyway. My normal routine has me pretty close to power when I need it. I also don't have as big of a problem with battery life as it seems many others are having.
With the standard battery I get 10 to 12 hours of standby/light to moderate use. If I am surfing the web or using the phone more heavily the battery life drops but I generally get at least 4 to 6 hours out of it.
If I use the phone heavily that drops to around 2 to 2.5 hours but I rarely use my phone that heavily.
I have the extended battery as a backup. I know I'll find times that I need to use that extra power and in those cases I'll simply have to strip the case off the phone and use it naked until I can get the standard battery charged back up. I accept that as a acceptable downside of having a laptop in my pocket at all times...
And on top of it, I get a nice discount on accessories through the company I work for so the price is right in my range for the items VZW carries....

Otterbox Defender Watermark help.

I just today put my verizon iphone 4 in the otterbox defender. (yes the one that works with bot at@t and verizon iphone 4) I left my front zagg invisibleshield on because i hear it fixes the watermark problem, but my defender still has a BAD watermark issue. Any ideas?

Invisibleshield is not compatible with the Defender. The new Defenders don't have the watermark issue.
